CRIMINAL MINDS: WEDNESDAY UP UNTIL 11 AM.

Criminal Minds Trip Day One: I wanted to share some final thoughts about my first morning on the set. This was the last day of the filming of "Ashes and Dust" and they were behind their schedule. The entire place was a buzz with activity. So far I had been introduced briefly to Shemar Moore, Paget Brewster, and Matthew Gray Gubler. I had been hugged by Mandy Patinkin. This was Kirsten's day off and I knew she wasn't coming to the set to meet me until the afternoon. A.J. was in the wardrobe room being fitted for the next day's shooting. I already had the honor of speaking with Ed Bernero, Charles Caroll, many of the writers including Andrew Wilder and Aaron Zelman, production staff, Scott David, Gina Garcia Sharp and makeup and hair artists. Watching them film scenes was fascinating. The morning was going very well and it was just about to get much much better!

One thing that you notice immediately is that Paget Brewster is stunning. Absolutely beautiful and as thin as a rail. Matthew Gubler is incredibly cute with a smile that lights any room he is in. Shemar Moore is so much better looking in person than in any picture I have ever seen. Thomas Gibson is incredibly handsome and Mandy is thin, trim and handsome. Watching them work together is not what you expect. Even though they were behind in filming they all still got along together so well. Joking and talking. There are no prima donnas on this set. Just a well oiled professional machine!

Either later tonight or tomorrow we will head over to Craft Services and have some fun with some very special people. :)

woooohooo! thats so cool that not only did you meet the cast and crew and directors but even the makeup artists and stylists. After all, they're very important too! I am still amazed that you are not in jail for attacking Gubler...because he would have lip gloss prints all over his face when i was done with him! lol.

When you're watching the 'finished product', it's too easy to forget all the supporting people.
I's great to learn that they all work together and that there are no 'divas', it's how it comes across on screen - so it's refreshing to know that's how things are in reality.
I now have to go to bed (after midnight again) will log on eagerly later today after doing the 'get me to work' run (my school run is more a quick walk)

Love the detail in describing the activities on the set.

Oh, man, it all sounds so terrific.

It is so nice to hear that people are actually the way you think/hope they are. Everybody sounds so wonderful!

And you got to see the SuperJet! Yayyyyy! Please please tell me that they admitted the floor plan of the jet changes all the time. Even if you have to lie about it, just so I'll stop questioning my sanity and looking at screencaps with a magnifying glass! (Yeah, I know I'm a total dork, what can I say?)

Oh, I so appreciate your detailed account of your meetings and experience on the set. I almost feel like I'd been there myself.

Did they let you drive the plane?

How could Shemar Moore possibly be better looking in person? He is the most drop dead good looking man I have ever seen. I can't imagine better....

I agree...YUMMY....Just kidding. I guess photos don't do everyone justice. Seeing him in person must have been better than we all think. LOL

Shemar Moore is the man in pictures. How could he be better looking?

Hi Jill.
I would be interested to know if the cast members are interested in the technical aspects of the jobs of the crew. I would think it would be useful for any future director.

Awww, THANK YOU SOOO MUCH Jill for writing all these detailed descriptions of your trip!

I am really happy to hear that they get along so well. I am glad that you are able to dispell the cruddy rumors that another site is spreading. Thank you.

Alex: Some of my best conversations and enjoyment came from talking with the writers and crew. One of the hairdressers will be discussed in a later post. She was so funny and wanted to know what we all thought of so many things. She was really nice.

Yes, this cast gets along great. It was certainly no act for anyone's benefit. They were already stressed out to the limit from being behind in shooting and if there were any problems it would have been very noticeable. Instead what I saw was a very very close group of actors and crew. Very close. :)

Love the picture of the jet's interior! The seats look really comfy! So did you have a seat in one, just to try it out and fantasize about heading off with the BAU team to help stop some some psycho? Or is it just me who would've done that?

oh please oh please later tonight! lol. haha, craft services! "I asked for Gouda!!" you're doing such a good job keeping me hooked Jill! I can't wait to hear about the hairdresser too! Everyone from the cast right on to the crew and stylists just keep amazing me with their great attitudes and how gracious they are to have you!

I keep thinking how wonderful it must be for newer actors, like MGG, to work with such seasoned pros as Mandy and Thomas. It's not just the acting tips he must pick up, but also the behaviors, how to cope with massive stress, how to keep a good attitude, stuff like that.

Okay, because it just HAS to be said: "De plane! De plane!" (For those of you too young to remember that's Tattoo's line from Fantasy Island. I feel old right now. *sigh*)

You got to go on the "plane" (I know it's really a set--I listened to the commentary on the DVDs).

And of course Thomas Gibson is handsome! *lol* I really hope you post again tonight because I am loving reading your story and seeing the pics (and waiting, impatiently as always, for some of TG...*G*).

Looking fwd to the next installment of Jill's Excellent Hollywood Adventure!

Slashgirl, your "De plane, de plane" line is particularly apt, as Jill DID go to Fantasy Island! (Did the seats have rich Corinthian leather?)

I just got two of my resistant friends to look at the blog. You know what they said?

"Shemar Moore? You didn't tell us Shemar Moore was on it!!! I loved him on Y&R -- what time is it on again?"

Why didn't someone tell me those were the magic words a year ago?

You lived out my dream. Shemar, Shemar, Shemar. Is his smile more beautiful in person too.

THe Plane! the Plane! its the plane!! GEEEE!!!

...really, I Have nothing else to say but THE PLANE!

Anonymous said...

OMG the plane! did you get to sit in it?

(I know its not a real plane, but still . . .)

And I bet the wardrobe, hair and make up people have the BEST stories!

Can't wait for more

Just got up, had breakfast and read your new entry - what a good way to start a Sunday...

As said in another comment I like the way you describe EVERYTHING, not only the cast - they are ALL so important for the show.

You mean its not a REAL plane?

That man is so fine.

Girl. Lucky you!
I wish I could have been there!
How do you manage to do this anyway?
Again Lucky you!!
Thank for sharing!

It must have felt really strange to actually be on the set. Like stepping into the TV.

And well done to whoever the special person at CBS was who made this happen.

You got hugged by Mandy?!?!?! You are one lucky woman!

I love the photo of the plane--it is such a topic of conversation! Now whenever I watch the DVDs or a rerun of the show, I check out the configuration of the seats on the plane!

I am anxiously awaiting the next installment of your story--this must be what being on Dilaudid is like--I NEED A FIX!

I'm so glad I found this show and this blog as well! And to find out that you got to go to the set amd meet so many interesting and talented people! Amazing doesn't do it justice.

Stacy -- you rock with my plan pictures! But I'm not crazy -- see LJ. I know they moved at least one seat, and I think others.

Personally, I like this new floor plan a lot.

What does the plane really look like? I remember seeing the additional features from some movie about a plan e (I cant remember, it was that one where the lady was flying home with her daughter and dead husband, and she had designed the plane), and they showed how they did that.

Anonymous said...

I bet watching them make an episode is fascinating. It all looks so smooth on the tv.

Anonymous said...

Stupid question, but.. is that a real plane, or just for the set? :)

Anonymous said...

"How could Shemar Moore possibly be better looking in person? "

I concur. I can't see how it's possible. But, I'd be happy to test the hypothesis for myself, if a plane ticket ever happens upon me.

Love the plane pic, so many good scenes and relations happen on that plane it's like the little warm cozy haven of the BAU.

So did you get to sit in one of the seats?

Anonymous said...

You should have slipped little notes in all the seat cushions telling them that we adore them! Just kidding..kidda!

dude...I wish I could just jump into that picture. I envy your chance to hang out on the airplane set.
