Matthew Gray Gubler, Dr. Spencer Reid on Criminal Minds, and his famous habit of wearing mismatched socks are well known. I took a few pictures of Matthew on my second day on the set but didn't notice he was wearing mismatched socks until I downloaded the pictures when I got home. :)

The trick with mismatched socks (I did that all through high school and college, quit for corporate life, and now that I work at home, my sock-matching is random at best) is to sort them by *thickness*.
Because one fluffy sock and one skinny argyle? You only do that once.

It really has gotten to where I now look straight from his face to his ankles to checkout his socks.
I always look for the socks. And even though they don't match, they always go together. Bright colors, pastels, circus stries and circus animals. Unfortunately on the show they never manage to show both ankles at the same time, so if you don't know he does this you'd never notice. At least until Revelations, I firmly believe that's the only reason he got bastinadoes.

A man and his socks. He is so sweet.
I owe Matthew a big thanks. Since reading that he believes that mismatched socks are good luck, my nine year old doesn't freak out when I take all her singles and make new pairs. He has saved me a small fortune.
