Not trying to answer for Cassandra, but Hotch said that because he had hoped to get JJ back. TPTB at CBS don't seem to be going that way, getting AJ back, so at this point they just need to get somebody to do it because it is getting beyond crazy to have Garcia and Hotch doing this. Plus, give us a break CBS you have already taken so much and what you have given in return as far as this Seaver character is unacceptable. Give us a character that makes sense and stop trying to dumb down the show please.

UK viewer you were not boring but the problem is that Ashley is about 7 to 10 years shy of being even close to being in this Unit. She brings nothing unique except being the daughter of a serial killer, so what. This hasn't assisted in any cases as evidenced by her lame brain questions and even lamer conclusions which stem directly from this inexperience. Not to mention slowing down the pace of the show to provide a 101 session for this character; or on the other side making her some prodigy profiler which she isn't and can't be.

These characters don't need this character to grow in the ways you mentioned; that comes from good writing. They each have enough in their backgrounds for these rich breakthroughs without some rookie agent to elicit that. What will cause this show to stagnate is bad writing not the failure to add this failure of a character for CM.

caroline,

RN may have been in more movies then any of the other CM cast but they werent very good. Besides, there are people out there more than willing to give her a job, which was exactly my point.
Also, I may have made up my mind but if you can show me a thing or two that Seaver can add, then maybe I will give her another chance. So far she is not adding anything to my eyes. She is either irritating the viewers, offending them or just taking up screen time. So please dont act like a child. "why should I tell you" is a very immature comment. The fans are actuallu taking the time to give detailed opinions of why Seaver does not belong. I am not attacking the actress at all. Not her persoanlity anyway. Your response basically tells me that you really dont know why she should remain on the show or why Seaver fits on the team. All you have basically implied is that you are a fan of the actress and must admire her. Nothing wrong with that but it is nowhere near an explanation as to why Seaver is a good addition.

UK viewer,

none of your reasons make sense. Whatever Seaver thinks she knows or thinks she can add, well, its been wrong. Have you read the posts on how she was so inaccurate about why people would cut themselves. Also, Freud has been discredited so that holds no merit whatsoever and Rossi did kind of have a fatherly mentor thing going on with JJ and Emily. With Seaver...frankly all the babycoddling is annoying. And she may be about ready to graduate, or even when she does graduate, there is NOTHING exceptional that should be keeping her on the team. It is all a pity play and its getting old. Seaver has contributed nothing. She is polluting the show. None of your reasons make sense for her to be on the BAU. SHe should be at a desk job or in another unit. Seaver does not belong.

Stagnating??? This show was never in danger of stagnating before it was torn to shreds by CBS! They fired excellent writers, fired AJ, basically got rid of Paget, then to add insult to injury, they add the STUPIDEST CHARACTER EVER!

CBS and CM needs to stop taking and in its place putting crap. Restore the good, take out the bad.

I`m almost sure there is more to the Rossi and Seaver "situation" than him solving her father`s case. He seems to have been watching her or maybe even been in contact with her now and again since back then. I don`t mind finding out more about it, but I don`t want Rossi`s screen time mostly be limited to him interacting with Seaver. I also didn´t like it when he was mostly only used to support Hotch during the Foyet story arc.

than him solving the case of her father. It's a deflection. I think there's something in that past that matters enough to Rossi that he wanted to get the woman on the team. Pure speculation

"To the people who said , Hotch would never have chosen Seaver for the team. Why did he accept her then? He could have rejected her , but still she is there and he even allows her to be part of the team delivering the profile to the local detectives."

This is a key reason why many of us don't get it. Ashley was allowed to complete her remedial training with the BAU, when Hotch agreed to it OFF SCREEN. We never saw Emily making a credible case for her return, nor did we did see why Hotch would allow her to return after her insubordination. As sdwally wrote before, the fact that the writers could not include a credible scene of Hotch authorizing her return is because they COULDN'T write a credible scene that was in keeping with Hotch's character. He didn't want to take her to the field in the first place, and she certainly didn't contribute anything positive to the case. Hotch is not exactly the type who falls prey to pretty tears. He demands professionalism, and Ashley didn't show it her first time out. As for why she's giving part of the profile, beats the hell out of me. I'm guessing the writers need her to do something besides sit in a corner and play with a ball of yarn. But it is completely incredible that someone who is not a real FBI agent yet would be allowed to do that. We really haven't had any Hotch/Ashley interaction to see why he keeps her around. To me, Ed was hell bent on introducing this character, and have gone about it in a most convoluted way to make Ashely seem credible.
