CRIMINAL MINDS: TURNS OUT THERE IS NO VOID.

Criminal Minds: For many Criminal Minds fans there was a fear that the loss of the character of Jason Gideon, played by Mandy Patinkin, would leave a hole in the show and diminish the quality we had become used to enjoying. That has proven not to be the case for me. Mandy Patinkin's departure from Criminal Minds over the summer turned out to be nothing more than a fandom being dragged through hell for no reason. The six remaining actors have not only picked up the slack his void left but they have reached new heights in excellence. I stand in grateful awe of the wonderful work they are doing. Criminal Minds has never been better. Kudos to Kirsten Vangsness, Paget Brewster, A.J. Cook, Shemar Moore, Matthew Gray Gubler and Thomas Gibson.

The writers obviously were going to have a hard time rewriting so many episodes but I never doubted their ability to shine. They have always proven that when it comes down to the art of writing scripts that will entertain and captivate that they are the best in their business. We expect nothing less that magic from them and they never disappoint (well of course there was that one episode that the entire fandom disliked but I believe we all agreed to pretend it never happened. lol)and they always remind me of why I watch the show. It's all about the writing. Kudos galore to the entire writing staff of Criminal Minds. The show would be nothing if not for you.

I fully agree with the "NO VOID" of MP. The writers are amazing, the first 2 episodes had me very worried, I will not lie, but they have proved they are back on the ball. This show is simply the best on TV and I don't just mean for Crime Dramas. KUDOS TO EVERYONE INVOLVED!!!!! And THANK YOU!

Lee :)

It surprised me too. I really worried about what would happen to the show when MP left but all that happened is great episodes and great ratings. Maybe he was holding us back.

I agree with you completely. So far the season has been awesome. Great episodes and the cast is just great.

I don't miss Gideon but I also am not wild about the idea of Rossi joining the bunch. Why do we need him?

The writers rock!

Amen, sistah;)

Seriously, I'm really surprised that I don't miss Gideon more, but c'est la vie, I suppose.

I didn't worry even for a second. I knew our writers were the best!

The entire team, writers and actors has really risen to the challenge and shine with a brilliance unsurpassed by anyone in their fields. I applaud them for their resilience and grace under extreme pressure. Way to go, CM team!!!!!!!!!!!

I am curious. which show is dny referring to when she said there was a show that fans like to pretend didn't happen?

I think they have done so much better at getting it to together and doing great work in such a short amount of time than I could ever have imagined.

They are all stars and I hope they are all very proud of their accomplishments. They deserve high praise.

I agree with you Jill. The writers are great and this season has been great!

I agree. I think it has provided some opportunities for other character development. I don't remember seeing Reid independently handle a major interrogation before like he did with the boy. Not only was that scene written well, MGG did a great job. It's nice to see Reid being used for more than a "walking databank".

I think all the characters are getting more screen time and I love that. I also feel like it is easier keeping up with all that is happening with six rather than seven. No offense to MP but 6 just works better imo.

Also, wow the writers and actors and actresses have done a great job. It is like they really hit their groove.

tlb: I don't want to speak for her but I think she was obviously talking about hat.

I thought the rule in the fandom was never to even bring up H-T again. LOL. It has to be the one she is talking about. What else did everyone EVER agree on?

I am super excited with the season and how well everything is fitting into place. Great job by all who work so hard.

Bravo and Kudos flying out from me! Great season and no sense of anything missing at all. Great relief.

PS: Rayna said the H word! Isn't there some penalty for doing that. One horror in two years in not bad. lol

Criminal Minds has never been better.

I couldn't have said it better myself. That's just perfect.

It's not a one-person show. The entire CAST (and crew, and writers, and Ed....and....everybody) makes the show.

I certainly haven't caught myself, at all, thinking about Mandy while watching CM episodes, if I can be completely honest.

Is saying H-T like saying MacBeth on stage? Do we have to run outside and turn around 3 times in the sun?

Just wondering,
Lee

Yes that is what you have to do Lee! lol

The season is so great and last night was great. The writing is always wonderful and so are the actors and I am not even noticing that Gideon is gone. Never thought about him once in the last few shows.

I haven't even noticed him being gone.

Great job by the writers, cast and crew.

What Jill said! I agree, the first couple eps worried me, but now it's obvious the show is on its feet, found its pace and is doing just fine. Plus -- did we ever crack the top ten last year? And now we're there routinely ... big sigh of relief and pleasure.

Great job by everybody involved, and especially to Ed, who I suspect kept the ship afloat a lot more than even he realizes yet.

Jill, I couldn't agree with you more. This is a great ensemble cast with very talented writers, and they have taken up right where they were left. I really wasn't worried, because altho Gideon was OK, he wasn't the main reason I watched the show anyway. And I look at his departure as the way for Reid to finally become a full-fledged profiler, and not just some human encyclopedia (thanks to Mickey Mouse for the spelling!). He did wonderfully in this last episode, and I hope the writers give him more opportunities to display his abilities - I mean, he has to have them, or he wouldn't be on the team, right? And the same for the other members, also.

That is so true. i thought i would miss gideon more but its like Reid is finally out from under his shadow and is now shining bright on his own. i really have not thought abot gideon since the second ep.

i'm still a little lost as to what is the ep that everyone pretends never happend?

They mean "Honor Among Thieves" about the Russian mob. I didn't think it was all that bad, but I think I'm about the only one!

I love this season. It is wonderful. I guess we need to get ready for the new addition. We get Mantegna next week. Open minds!

Anonymous said...

The last two episodes are really tops in my opinion. Very strong ones. I think Joe will be okay. I want to see how he changes the landscape. Wonder what Reid will think of him?

HAT needed work.

MP who? Gideon who?

Loving this season.

I apologize for the troll who just left the nasty comment. She is extremely immature and catty.

I have deleted her comment.

They have been able to give everyone else extra screen time and Reid is looking much more confident than he used to. I think the show is doing really great. The only show I didn't really care for was Doubt and that was not their fault. It had to be edited a lot. Love season three.

I wholeheartedly agree. There is no void.

"Criminal Minds" does not NEED Joe Mantegna. The existing cast without Mandy Patinkin is excellent, and all that's needed. I'm afraid Mantegna will suck the life right out of this show. Gideon does not NEED to be replaced. 48. Scared to Death, 49. Children of the Dark and 50. Seven Seconds were Gideon-free and they were GREAT.

Yeah! What Jill said.

Anonymous said...

Jill, I totally agree with you.

The only thing I am worrying about at the moment is the new character and how he will fit in. I feel like we don't need another agent on the team but of course I'll give Agent Rossi a chance. We just don't need another Gideon.

I hope they don't push the other actors back again. It's a wonderful and talented cast and everybody has been growing since the season has started.

They had a great, classy send off for Gideon / MP.... and the Team has closed ranks and made magic. NOW, with Rossi coming in, it looks like my fears of everybody getting mushy can be calmed!! Woo Hooo can't wait for him to get there and keep everybody from getting too comfy!
