Those of us in Canada had the privelege of watching it last night. :-) That is all I will say for now, as I don't wish to spoil it early!

I won't say much about the episode but I thought it was great!!

To those who didnt see it Tuesday: Read at your own risk!

I loved this eppy! It was great. ( The only downside was my mom calling have way through!

Reid was awesome! I love his new haircut! It looks so good on him! When he was on the plane and saying evil and eviler twin, I was cracking up. I also loved when Emily poked him and said he was so life-like! He also seemed excited that he got to drive. Made me think, have we ever seen him behind the wheel.

You can tell Hotch is having problems with his ear. He admits he still hears a buzzing noise and any loud noise severely bothers him. I am glad he opted to drive back at the end instead of fly. I hope he takes care of himself and doesn't ignore the doctor's orders. However, this is Hotch we we talking about!

Never imagined the unsub would be a women! Wow!

Hope everyone enjoys the eppy tonight! I will be watching it again for sure.

Good episode. People in the US will not be disappointed.

That was good - very creepy and sad, as the best CM episodes tend to be.

Jay Beattie and Dan Dworkin did a tremendous job.
What a great episode.
It had everything: intriguing plot, drama for the main characters and some humor.
I really liked the continuity with Hotch's injuries. Good to know that in the end, he realized he had to take care of himself, he couldn't run every time a bullet was shot.
Going to watch it again now.

MORE JOE!!!!!!!!! We need more Joe Mantegna here, more pix, more everything! Not enough of him on this site!

excellent episode! just everything I love about CM... definitely watching it again tonight!

"What do you need to crack it?"

I loved the episode! Thank you so much Jay and Dan for a female serial killer! It was really an incredible episode!

woooo that was wonderful! this season is looking sweet. and reid... is it just me or did he get like maaaaaajorly cute this season? he's definitly grown on me :) and i wonder how they're going to develop hotch this season? besides the ear drama i mean. i was kind of hoping they would tie up those loose ends with kate's death.. but maybe thats for later eps. hopefully they tie up his divorce drama too. i hate seeing hotch hurt, or depressed, and especially both at once :( sooooo can we fast forward a week?

Anonymous said...

I really loved this one. Intriguing serial killer mind and lots of great scenes for the team. Can't wait for next week!

I really enjoyed the episode but was a little disappointed that no mention was made of NY's request for Derek. Hopefully that'll be discussed at some point and put to rest. I also hate that they didn't have alot of Morgan/Garcia banter. Even though I enjoyed the humor with the other characters, nothing replaces their conversations.

Another great episode. Good pacing and suspense. I like a few "left turns" in the profiling process (when they don't get it exactly right the first time).

Strange to say, but nice to have a female unsub--equal opportunity psychos!

And thanks to Jay for coming to the chat. It's always great to have him!

I just felt like - THAT's a Criminal Minds episode! Briefing scene! Plane scene! Race against the clock! Profiling! Unsub psychology! Personal B plot! Team moments galore! There's my show!

It was all little things, and I don't think any of the character moments/team moments were among the best ever on this show, at all... but just the fact that the episode was sprinkled with that kind of thing really made me happy. From Morgan flipping Reid’s hair and them teasing each other about this and that to Em and JJ and Morgan having a little all-in-good-fun laugh at Reid’s expense (“He looks so lifelike!”) to that last scene at the cars... I wanted a closing plane scene, but that was almost as good. The reactions to Reid getting to drive (“Oh, great” “Sweet!”) were adorable, and... Hotch gave the team his brownies... all of which was kind of insignificant and silly and yet totally made my day.

And the other, probably more significant thing, was everybody doing *their* thing – Reid with the letters, Morgan with the physical stuff, etc. And everybody getting together to go through paperwork and brainstorm – I love that stuff.

And, of course, JJ. How much do I love that she actually got to be involved in so many great little scenes and moments? I loved the look on her face when she twigged to the “wait a minute, she probably had a baby” stuff. And the sort of joking dismay with which she reported that pregnancy is actually more like ten months – heh. I love that we got a JJ/Garcia scene, if only a phone call, ‘cause I’ve been missing those. I’m still not sure I forgive the show for never showing us Garcia finding out JJ’s preggers!

And Hotch. Jeez, Hotch. You know, of all the Hotch moments tonight, the thing that actually tears my heart out is that he actually fell faster than the woman who was shot. This tower of strength was hit harder by the sound of a gunshot than the victim was by the bullet. I don’t know if his determination to get back to work was more a matter of needing the work or more a matter of knowing the team needs him or some combination of the two, but jeez, Man, take a few days. If you're groaning in pain, things are serious.

I liked the way the case ended, too. I know it was sort of predictable, and I totally called the suicide-by-cop, but the fact that she'd use her own body to complete the pattern never occurred to me, and it was kind of an effective moment.

Anonymous said...

I really loved this episode. There was great profiling and chemistry between the team and the case was fascinating. Women unsubs are always interesting. The case was great. And yeah that Reid got a haircut. Reid rocks.

Anonymous said...

This was much better than the last episode, because it went to the center of their team's purpose and upped their interaction with each other and the crime. I loved that one of the police/prison guards was corrupt and the captain/chief was not corrupt and ended up admiring them.

Hotch better watch out or he will go deaf! When the doctor caved at the beginning of the show and allowed him to go back on light duty all I could think of was, but duh! they shoot guns all the time RIGHT NEAR THEIR EARS! Maybe the pain was enough to get him to think twice.

The route from Cinncinatti to Washington DC/Qunatico is on Highway 64, a specific route for just that distance. It has some okay sights of low mountains and countryside, but it is NOT a beautiful byways road trip. I swear it always bothers me when directions or descriptions of drives and directions are wrong as it is so so so easy to check the validity online if they have not actually driven in the area themselves.

this was very good tonight i felt bad for hotch.the noise wwas very hard on him.it really kept me on the edge of my seat.can,t waite tell next week.

Anonymous said...

I guess Rossi's remark about 'a beautiful byways road trip' was in fact a slight suggestion for Hotch to get a day or two off work. The world is not going to end, and even the greatest workaholic of the year needs some time to recover.

I loved that episode, kudos for the whole CM team!

I loved this one. Emily had the funniest line in a long time - "he is so lifelike" - I was LMAO. And Reid's "Evil and Eviler" - too funny.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for the new layers that we are seeing in Hotch!!! These past two weeks have been unbelievably awesome. I wanted to go into the tv, give him a hug and just hold him until he stopped hurting. A vulnerable Hotch is even hotter than the normally smoking-hot Hotch that we are used to seeing. And, TG is THE BEST actor on tv right now - any show on any network.

I hope you keep unraveling these characters for us. It looks like they are going to start chipping away at Emily's thick skin next week...

First, wow, what a great epsisode! I loved it. It had all of the elements that make CM - plus it was an intriguing mystery. I liked the little touches - the paper in the wounds, the pattern of the stars, the smuggled out semen, the dead baby, the fact that the unsub was a woman (okay, big detail), the fact that she completed the pattern on herself. And Hotch's dedication - putting himself at risk, the same thing he's lectured Morgan and Reid about recently. And Reid - YES - he just gets more cute every year. I love the teasing about the hair and being lifelike and the ending where he gets to drive - Sweet! This episode hit it home for me at EVERY turn. Thank you Jay and Dan and everyone involved in making this great episode.

And Jay - I want to say a huge thank you for coming to chat with us last night and spending so much time with us. There are always questions after an episode, or something a viewer just wants to talk about and you were so gracious to patiently and thoroughly address everything.

As several of us said last night - we CAN'T WAIT for your next ep!

I absolutely LOVED LOVED LOVED this episode!!! I love that (Matthew's) hair was addressed, and was cracking up at the dialogue between Penelope & J.J. The writers really outdid themselves with this episode!!!!!!!

Thought that was as good as any episode I have seen on CM. Great interaction. I liked that Morgan was assigned to get the victim out of the house rather than subdue the perp.

One of the problems with such a large and talented cast is that in every episode, one of them has less time. I'd like to see more of Rossi.

They're also doing a good job of showing the lighter moments ("He looks so life-like" and Prentiss asking Rossi if he had any groupies at his book signings). They are always a part of any real investigation and gives great cred to the show.

I liked it. The funny stuff made me think I was watching a blooper track. but everybody do good. I just did understand why the unsub or the dead serial killers did what they did. I mean what was the whole star stuff about. If astrology is enough to make people do that then maybe we need to get rid of it.:)

Anonymous said...

Another great episode. It had everything that I like about CM,
team work, profiling, creepiness,
funny moments, team teasing each others, interesting case with a woman as the unsub.

Poor Hotch, really he should take a few days off before he loses his hearing. I felt so bad for him, when that gun went off.

fav line 'he is so lifelike' really that got me laughing.

Thanks to Jay for chating with us last night.

Can't wait the next episode!

This was a classic CM episode and now I feel like the show is really back. Last week was all about doing CM in a big, glitzy way and that was cool but this week it was obvious that the writers can deliver a classic CM episode and make it interesting.

Talking about twins and eviler-twins was terrific. The interpersonal interactions between the characters made the episode pop. Reid's hair getting him teased. Watching Hotch push himself beyond what he should have been doing and the obvious lead up to an exploration of Prentiss' backstory was a home run for me!

Great job by the writers, actors and all involved.

Anonymous said...

Garcia and the clown story was terrific. Chloe was a real piece of work. I wonder if she would have killed if she hadn't lost the baby and also since she had more semen I am wondering why she didn't just impregnate herself again. She was a really interesting case study.

Anonymous said...

Poor Hotch with the ringing in his ears. Great soldier to want to go back to work while he is still recovering. Or is it because he has nothing else in his life. It was a great performance by Thomas Gibson.

Morgan tossing Reid the keys and letting him drive was funny. They are so like bickering brothers. The personal quips and snips betweem them keep the show light and fun.

I think this unsub was one of the best we've ever had.

Great night for the show. Totally enjoyed the episode.

Anonymous said...

"He's so life-like" was one of the best CM lines ever written.

Anonymous said...

I really liked this one. After a long four months and an action-packed season opener, I'd almost forgotten what the team was like on normal cases. The friendly playfulness and back-and-forth banter was well-missed.

Reid was exceptionally cute in this ep! So many good moments (and I loved his "Sweet!" when Morgan let him drive - what's it been, four years? lol). And his "evil twin/eviler twin" discussion? Hilarious!

Anonymous said...

Loved the episode! I'm glad that Hotch didn't end up doing permanent damage to his ears! The scene where JJ figured out that the unsub had a baby was perfect. Lots of team work in this episode. And, I love the slow progression of Prentiss figuring out the constellations. It wasn't - see puncture wounds then "aha! They're constellations!" There was the whole process of figuring out something was weird to figuring out the meaning of the paper, and only after seeing the stars putting it all together. It just makes really smart people still realistic. Totally awesome episode. Well written and the actors did a A+ job of delivering the awesome!

Anonymous said...

I especially loved the part where Prentiss poked Reids cheek and said "he's so life like" and JJ
had to stop herself from laughing, I know I was laughing. The whole Angelmaker story was interesting. Women who fall for psychos. Wow is that weird. It was a really great episode. Something for everyone.

Anonymous said...

I loved this episode. It had everything - unpredictable, profiling, team interactions, humor. And, the vulnerable Hotch is just awesome. The way they are chipping away at his layers is great and the team needing to take care of him!

The fourth season started for me last night. This was a CM episode. "Mayhem" was okay but there was no profiling at all that I saw. This episode bounced us back to CMland and it was a great ride!

Nice job Dan & Jay. Sorry I missed the chat.

Anonymous said...

Hotch is a character that I've really grown to enjoy--he started off kind of stock for me. But over the episodes my appreciation has increased. TG does such a great job at conveying the kind of locked down personality you probably need for a job like this, without seeming ridiculously repressed or stilted. I mean, Hotch is all kinds of repressed, but it's totally believable. Which is why when he breaks down (as in season opener or in this ep, in pain) it's all the more heart breaking to watch.

Anonymous said...

I've been watching the show off and on since the first episode. I started watching it religiously last season and I think it's getting to me because the first thing I noticed in this episode was the way the unsub was holding the hammer and I said "Oh, it's a woman." I'm actually surprised that I got it right for once.

Also, this episode creeped me out, with the heightened sound and the empty coffin. Really totally happy with this episode. Yeah.

Anonymous said...

Really awesome episode. :)

Great episode! There were great lines, great scenes, & a great storyline. I was creeped out most of the time :). And Jay, thanks again for the chat!!

Anonymous said...

Wow, Reid would probably find it fascinating to type in "death row inmate" into a search engine and find out what comes up. Interesting episode about psychotic killers and the women who loves them. I like the balance of lighter humorous moments between the team members with the darkness of the subject. Very well done, Jay and Dan!!!!! Yes, Reid does make a very lifelike and the cutest human computer in town!!
Hotch as the "Mom" of the group is going to need someone to be the Mom and tell him to take it easy on himself!!!

Anonymous said...

I thought the eps was very well done. Although you knew the dead couldn't come back alive, they kept you in suspense for a little while wondering. You got to wonder though, how many sicko groupies can live in one town?

Anonymous said...

Excellent, excellent episode! Season 4 is going to be even better than last season.

Thanks to everyone who brought us Angel Maker!

I can't wait for next week!

How does this show just keep getting better episode after episode? The writers are brilliant. I think the Angel Maker is going to be one of my all-time-favorite episodes, for all of the reasons people have already mentioned.

It makes me proud to say I am a Criminal Minds fan!

Besides being a great story they also gave us some family. I love the family bits the best. My question is who will step in and be mom now that Hotch is recovering??

Anonymous said...

Great episode. Great ratings. Great season so far!! Gimme more.

This episode was like a long, cold drink of water after crossing the desert!

I loved the Hotch moments - omg - the poor guy. Isn't it just like him to be so dedicated, so self-sacrificing? And Emily, when she touched Reid's face...you've got to wonder what goes through his mind in moments like that (I mean, um, if he was real). I think that is the thing that sets CM apart from other similar shows - the characters are so realistic. When they go through something like in Mayhem or this episode (or - I'm sure - the one coming next week!) it draws you in because it seems so real. The writers and actors have done a great job of partnering to bring these charcters to life for us and make us care about them. It's not just a mystery, it's something you're emotionally invested in. We fanatics do love our characters!

Bravo CM people - your're the best!

I'm always surprised by the twists and turns. Thanks for keeping the great story lines coming.

Nice humor, nice personal stuff.. not to much but enough!

Nice case and storieline attached to it!

A little cliche when morgan/prentiss make those comments on the visibility of the stars!

But overal another great episode!

Anonymous said...

Great ep!!

Anonymous said...

This was a very satisfying episode from someone who likes to see the unsub stay a mystery through most of the episode! Thanks Jay and Dan!

The unsub was interesting, displaying a mental illness rather than just being mean. I know mean people are unsubs too, but they are just not as interesting.

It was great in that Reid was back to his old self and doing what he does so well. He was also totally oblivious to how he came across to his team and others. He lost his self-consciousness which became so obvious when he was kidnapped/drugged/flashing back. Prentiss got to see the old Reid, something she really never had the chance to do and even she was amazed. Kudos. Hope it lasts lol.

Poor Hotch just cannot get a break anymore. I guess next week it is Emily’s turn for a beat down?

I thought the episode was predictable. It was easy to figure out that she was the unsub. I thought the actress did a good job though.

There were so good tidbits in the episode. Reid and the interaction with him was very funny.

'The Angel Maker' is an episode that brings Criminal Minds back to its roots. The procedural show focused on the crimes with a diverse team to solve it, each having their own problems and history.

This episode focused on a serial crime again. Supposedly a serial killer had arisen from the dead and started killing again. Did he really arise? Did they catch the actual killer before? Or did they have a copycat? The team is puzzled and tries to find an answer and in the end the team solves the puzzle. I will leave the details of the plot as they are, but I do want to focus on the character development that has been set in.

In the past there have been subtle hints to personal problems, histories and reasons for the team members to join the BAU and that really suited the show, one of the strengths if you ask me. This season promises to be different in a few areas: more action and major character development. Although I am craving for more insight into the characters, I strongly feel it should be introduced carefully and by all means not overshadow the show. Luckily the cast & crew have done incredibly so far and I am sure they will not disappoint me in any way.

In this light I hope the action packed cliffhanger and season opener were necessary to keep us on the edge of our seats, that it certainly did. I also think the episodes were a great set-up for multiple episode arcs for the team members and I have great hopes of finally learning some backstories, especially of one of them. The team leader being in peril (the victim), the injury, the death of a colleague and friend, maybe some (survivor) guilt, his recent divorce and his troubled past will undoubtedly put him in an emotional and physical rollercoaster ride and I am curious how it will unfold this season.

My prayers have been answered in this last episode as we have seen a continuance of Hotchner's injury and it didn't overshadow the story at all. It only added to it and I can hardly wait until the next episode airs!!

Criminal Minds was, is and will stay the best show on television!

Anonymous said...

I liked the episode. Not one of my favorites but it was good. I liked that the last constellation awaiting a victim was Columba, and that the copycat killer who stabbed it into herself had been addressed in letters as "My Dove".

Anonymous said...

Prentiss was fantastic in this episode. I always admired how her character was injected into this tightly knit group and that she worked so diligently to earn her place and their respect without complaining. And let's face it, they were all pretty cold to her. Even when Reid was at his height of drug use and went off on her several times, she handled it with a lot of grace.

In both Mayhem and Angel Maker she was just really grooving as an integral part of the team

First, thank you to Jay Beattie for joining us last Wednesday night in the CM Chat Room. As always, Jay was fun, intelligent, and gracious.

I was finally able to sit down and watch this episode tonight, but it was truly worth the wait. Jay and Dan really rocked it!

Really nice foreshadowing with the first victim looking out her kitchen window at the stars and wishing on a falling star. Unless she wished to be bludgeoned to death and then stabbed in the stomach with a screwdriver, she didn't get her wish.

Poor Hotch and his ringing ears and kudos to Prentiss and Rossi for showing such visible concern over his condition.

There were so many wonderful creepy aspects to this episode. The guard sneaking out the Angel Maker's sperm to the Dove--ooky. The Angel Maker's empty grave. Shara, the Angel Maker's number 1 fan. Finding the Angel Maker's decomposed body in the trunk in the Dove's dead baby's room. All super creepy!

There were some cute lighter moments, too. Morgan ruffling Reid's hair at the beginning. JJ and Garcia's moment about being pregnant for 10 months (it was news to JJ). Emily asking Rossi if he had groupies at his book signings. The "he's so lifelike" quip about Reid, and at the end when the team teased Morgan about not using directions and using his "vibe" and Reid's "sweet" when Morgan tossed him the keys to the SUV.

One thing we talked about in the chat--if Hotch hadn't decided not to fly home and to drive himself, where was he going to sit in that 5passenger SUV? There was no room for him unless JJ sat on his lap or if he was strapped to the top. LOL.

Season Four is off to a great start and I can't wait for the rest of the season to unveil.
