Did anyone notice that Matthew Gray Gubler's character Dr. Spencer Reid was wearing his infamous mismatched socks in last night's episode of Criminal Minds? Thanks to Stacy (slashgirl) for catching that tidbit for us. I totally missed it. Did you notice it?

I was so busy watching faces and dead dogs that I missed it. I will look for it during my rewatch over the weekend. Thanks for pointing it out.

Yes, I did notice. I wondered when Tobias/Raphael/Dad started to take off Reid's shoes if his socks would be mis-matched and they were!
You all have such keen eyes because I didn't notice it but I am a Hotch gal so I don't really watch for MGG's socks but it is cute.
Yep, one was striped and one was kinda ugly yellow. Actually as soon as he put his feet up on Tobias' lap I knew what was coming..mismatched socks!!!

Anyone else look for Reid drinking coffee. Watch any episode ( except last night) he drinks coffee in it somewhere!
Monica: I am sorry. I had forgotten that some of the things we speak about on this blog might seem foreign to newer viewers. In real life Matthew Gray Gubler likes to wear mismatched socks. In a recent interview, which is posted in my archives, he was asked if his character Dr. Spencer Reid would ever start wearing mismatched socks and he said something to the effect that he hoped to work it into an episode.
This was a very nice touch on the part of the show to acknowledge the fans. Sort of lick giving us a wink. If you have anymore questions about anything please feel free to email me or post it as a comment. :)

We found out in the ep Fisher King part 1 (season one) that Diana Reid is schizophrenic and she was a professor of 15th century lit, or perhaps it was 16th. However, we learned very little else about her, other than she hates to fly. They'd shown Reid visiting her in the sanotorium and then they brought her out to DC when it looked like her life might be in danger; she helped provide one of the clues to who they were looking for.
Last night is the first time we've seen his backstory or knew anything about his father.

ya..when the father in tobias was taking off the shoes..i was wandering if his socks were going ot be different or not.... and they were and i was so hurt when he then got wip with the steel on his foot..

The show can be very dark and morbid but we still have a moment of fun looking at Reid's socks and Kirsten's accesories. Love them.

Matthew could sell his other socks for charity. I would buy one. The show helped earn money for MS and this could be a fundraiser. I could spearhead it. I will meet with Matthew and collect his odd socks and help do the rest. I volunteer.

I saw a video interview once on YouTube where Matthew said that he wears mismatched socks because his Grandmother said it was bad luck to wear matched socks. I saw on another episode that his socks weren't matching as well. I'll have to find which episode it was!
