Nope, panties are not in a knot, and Seaver hasn't ruined my life, although that character has ruined my viewing of Criminal Minds.

Bye bye :)

props to Mephisto,
anonymous you do seem to care enough to write and be on this blog. I've been on this blog many times without writing on it either.
Also, People may have disliked Rossi and Emily when they first came, but thier characters intentions and perosnalities were made clear and what they would contiribute to the team was made clear in thier first episode, and thier first three eps too. I persoanlly liked them off the bat.
Rossi came off as dramatic, had unfinihsed business and was learning how to be in a team and thats in addition to everything else he already had. Rossi is stil dramatic but he's cool.
Emily came off as a good girl, really wanted to fit in and tried very hard, and that she is a natural at profiling, she hates politics and that belonging is important for her. These themes have carried on with them, especially with EMily nowadays, her hopefully, not final but still final days. What solidified it for loving Emily was when in Sex,Birth and Death, Hotch pulled her into his office and told her he didnt want people with agendas on his team and then Emily still, very respectfully but with an edge asked Hotch if he liked her mother and told him that she hates politics. I'm very much like Emily and I will be very sad to see her go if she does. But I will follow Paget's career as well as AJ Cook's.
As for Seaver, like some of the other posts said, all she was able to contribute was that her father had a problem with pets, and that is straight out of the McDonald triad so I'm not very impressed. And she may be a cadet, but I believe JJ and Specenr was also rookies when they first started. And they had a lot tocontirbute and they still do, Seaver just states the obvious and does not have a knack for profiling at all. She keeps reminding the audience of her father being a serial killer. I really couldnt care less for the actress becuase neither she nor the character impress me or make me want to continue watching the show. If she's going to stay on the show, then I want Hotch and Morgoan to leave because Hotch is the only reason left for me to watch the show now that JJ is gone and Emily's leaving. I love all the other characters as well, but not enough to keep me watching the show.

Claudia said...

Love CM, JJ was not a rookie, she was a Supervisory Special Agent (SSA). Reid was exempted to be allowed to enter into the team, brought on by Gideon, because of his intellect, the fcat that he is a genius.

Love CN said...

To jen/ anonymous, i doubt you wont post again and CM is a great show that has some educational merit to it as well, neither of which contiribute to the show with the whole Seaver situation. She simply doesnt belong on the show. And since you posted twice, jen, what does that say about you?
Seaver is ruining the show but not my life. I have seen her other stuff as well as AJ's and I'm going back and watching Paget's and Thomas Gibson's. I like tv. Everyone but Rachel Nichols is a quality actor with a lot of range. Rachel sucks and I feel sorry for her because she can still save her career if she just quits the show and stops degeneragting it further.

Also, Claudia, I meant that it is implied that both JJ and Spencer were rookies in the BAU, although they both must have been there for at least a year beofre the show actually started to air. and on the back of the season 1 dvds, it says that JJ is a rookie.
Love them both and thier relationship. So sad JJ is gone, hopeing she'ss come back permanemtly.

CBS, you have really outdone yourselves this time. I hope that you're proud of yourself, Tassler. Because your business sense stinks. You don't seem to understand that messing with something that doesn't need fixing is just plain idiotic. Yet you fired AJ and now Paget will most likely go too. That alone is enough for many to stop watching but you seem intent on trumping that by giving TG and SM trouble on negotiating their contracts. Another poor judgement. I enjoy all the characters but I watch for Hotch. TG is so insanely underrated it is criminal. The man should be treated like the lead that he is and has earned! If you think he is dispensible, just watch that joke of an episode without him.

To quote others, "No Hotch, no CM."

I am so tired of your interference. Get Thomas and Shemar back for S7, as well as Paget. I'd love AJ too but that would be too much humble pie now, wouldn't it. Then leave CM alone.

so sorry if it bothered you all don't get your pantys in knot now, it was my 1st comment on this board and some of you act if Seaver has ruined your life and you can't go on. last comment forever I promise I really do have a life to live. bye bye(my name is at the top of my last post)"

Anonymous, please come back and lets talk about panties some more.
Oh, wait, no, you have a life (A LIFE!!!11), I'm sure you won't be reading this.

Mike said...

So agree laura. The hating for Seaver here is just plain childish she has only been in 3 episodes for christ sake lol. Give her time she will evolve

Anonymous said...

Mike,

those three episodes were more than enough to show that she is not going to be a fun character. people arent being childish, just very passionate about the whole situation.
And in tv land, 3 eps is more than enough to show what you are made of. Plus her backstory was revealed. She just doesnt have the stuff for Criminal Minds.

Phew!! I'm glad Jen has a life! We all do too. Why is it when you disagree with someone you are always accused of not having a life? I happen to have a very busy and rewarding one thank you very much.

And I want to know exactly when posting a negative opinion on a character = hate. Are we not allow to dislike a character on a show we are passionate about? Are we supposed to love every ounce of crap served us? If it's any consolation to the Seaver lovers, I didn't like Elle either and I've made no secret of that.

I guess I will now hear from all the Elle lovers out there about what haters there are on this blog. *eye roll* I won't apologize for wanting CM to remain the best show on TV. This season and Seaver have both been major disappointments.

Helen said...

I don't hate any of the characters but I certainly like some more than others, just like the rest of us. I can't stand the way that AJ & PB were treated and now it looks to be moving on to TG & SM. THAT is what is on my mind right now, because if CM loses its lead in Thomas Gibson, it really won't matter whether or not Seaver is or isn't in the picture, CM will go downhill and I'll be battling to be the first out the door.

CBS, keep TG & SM. Bring back PB. We need them ALL and they are ALL loved by devoted, loyal fans.

proud member of the 'No Hotch, no CM' clan.

Beatrice said...

Sorry Mike, not even the Lord can salvage the mess that is the Seaver. As many have repeated here over and over again, it is the character itself. Unless she comes back in the next episodes as SSA Seaver, which there is no way she could do, you can't go from cadet to Supervisory Special Agent, not even Reid did that, she simply does not belong there. She doesn't have the experience to be on the team. What is so hard to understand about that? It is fairly simple and that is the reason people have an issue with th character. It would take her years to even be qualified to be on the team. Again, what is so hard to understand about that? Good grief.

I've got something to cheer us up--EW just published a voting poll for TV's Most Dateable Characters, and Spencer Reid is on the list!

(Aaron Hotchner didn't make the semi-finals, so sorry, Hotch honeys).

At last, some happy news.

Here's the link and vote for our favorite genius!

"CBS, for years you have treated Thomas Gibson as if he were some sub par character on Criminal Minds. Many here have asked if any of your network executives have ever watched an episode of Criminal Minds, and I feel secure in stating that by your treatment of Thomas Gibson none of them have. Record this into your little network notepads, Thomas Gibson is an integral part of Criminal Minds, and dare I say, that without his character at the helm, there will be no Criminal Minds.
And as for that little stunt pulled in the "25 to life" episode where Thomas Gibson did not appear because, what was it again, he was gone golfing, may that never happen again. I find it incredible that seasoned writers, producers and directors of this show could not coordinate the shooting of an episode around Thomas Gibson's schedule. Would this have occurred had it been Mark Harmon or David Carusso who had gone golfing. No, I suspect that these shows would have moved heaven and earth to shoot around these actors schedules. Had Mark Harmon or David Carusso been the ones playing Thomas Gibson's role on Criminal Minds, I'm sure that the episode would have been shot on the golf course with the unsub turning out to be some psychotic caddy."

Denise, you are so on point! For far too long, CBS has treated Thomas Gibson as if he were a second thought on Criminal Minds which is just plain nuts! Also, I too have often wondered about the Hotch-less 25 to life episode. It takes a lot to produce a TV show, a lot of scheduling, pre-production, etc., a show just isn't slapped together last minute. The CM people have been doing this for years and all of the sudden, this time, there was no way to get Thomas Gibson to appear in at least a few scenes in that episode. Hogwash!

CBS had better get their acts together and give Thomas Gibson, Shemar Moore, and Matthew Gray Gubler what they so richly deserve for all of the years of hard work they have put into the show. Plus, they definitely need to get Paget to stay on board, and while they are at, get AJ back. There was no reason in the world that she should have been fired. The "creatively refreshing" the show garbage that they tried to spew as a reason for getting rid of AJ, to then slip in the stupid Seaver character, is nonsense!

Oh man, all the really hot older men didn't make the cut. I had to go with a more age appropriate choice for me personally. Sorry Spencer, you're adorable, but very much in the I want to ruffle your hair and pinch the cheeks on your adorable little face sort of way. I was torn between Rick Castle, Seely Booth and Eric Taylor, but in the end Coach Taylor won out. : )

Ah yes, EW. CBS, do you remember that Thomas Gibson was the winner of the most Under-Appreciated Actor? I guess we all know why since you seem intent on making us CM fans continually have to fight to keep our faves on the show.

TG deserves to be appreciated by tptb. He's been sorely missed this season and is NOT expendable. Don't continue with this unreasonable cutting of our beloved actors. The bleeding must stop NOW!

I'm with those who'll walk if TG isn't back for season 7.

All I wish is to our old team back for season 7 minus Seaver, the one that is not needed.
It is possible if spinoff fails and CBS is able to admit their mistake.

Ok, here's Dorothy's 10 cents on this matter. Last weeks episode gave me some hope that the writing will improve on CM. That being said, the writing always get's better when a major player leaves the show. The problem is keeping the rhythm going which they did pretty well once Gideon left. However, since Chris Mundy and others left the show, we have seen a downhill slide in mentally creative episodes. I say that because I feel that the kind of viewer who watches CM is above average in thought and intelligence. CM challenges me and I can spot flimsy writing in the first few minutes. Rarely does an episode redeem themselves by the ending. Putting the Seaver character aside (very poor incorporation of a character if ever)where has all the character development gone? We have been with each character from day one and know what they would say or do better than the writers chosen this season! CONTINUITY!!! How is it that ION and A&E have been showing reruns for ages now and none of these new writers have bothered to watch them? We obviously have not been taken seriously by the powers who be when week after week we offer suggestions, ideas on plot lines, etc, only to watch a mediocre storyline which highlights the Unsub far too much and not the TEAM. When CM started out it was with the intent that we would see why the Unsub did what they did and why but this past year we've seen far less profiling and too much of the crime itself. Overkill..literally! I do not believe that the CM spin off will be successful in the end; one for the obvious reason that Whittiker will go down the road as other high paid "movie stars" who find that they do not like the work load, lack of freedom and he'll move on. Jeanine Garafalo is a laugh since from the time it was hinted she was joing, she has cried about the violence of CM in general. I couldn't take her seriously in this role even if I was inclined to. To end this tirade..I shall say "For warned is for armed" If the ladies behind this blog are concerned about TG and SM then so am I. CBS and Tassler can't be trusted. Bernero can't be found and the CM group aren't chatting since it's their livelyhood. Just a thought people..if you remember, CBS was intent on cancelling NCIS until the fan groups revolted. Get off this SEAVER kick everyone seems to be on and look at the BIG picture. Who gives a damn about Seaver when the whole show could go down in flames. Prioritize. Just my humble opinion.

coadygirl, you are right! Like I said earlier, I DON'T CARE about the Seaver character. I don't want that character on there now, and I definitely don't want to see that character in season 7. If there is anyone left at CBS and CM creative with any brain cells left in their head, it should be clear how terribly wrong that character is for the show. Hopefully, the Seaver character won't return for season 7, God, I hope not, but what is most impotant now are the things you talked about. First and foremost, the writing. Without good writing, all of the characters could be in play, but the episode will stink. The show needs to get back to the type of writing that once riveted the type of viewers it attracted, that is, intelligent people who like intelligent writing/storylines. Moreover, as you pointed out, if the people behind this blog are concerned about TG and SM, then that should make us pause and think about what may be potentially going on and act accordingly.

If we can band together to get the writing back to where it was, to help advocate for TG, SM and MGG, and to someway, somehow convince Paget to stay for season 7, then I'd say that we are off to a good start.

FINALLY! So well put! To sit on the couch thinking, 'aw, they'll never get rid of Hotch or Morgan'... wake up! We've already lost JJ and Emily, you think that they won't stop there?? Coadygirl is correct: CBS doesn't care and won't care unless we band together and let them know we won't put up with it. Ed doesn't seem to give a crap anymore either; he has his spin and another project. The cast can't afford to complain. So its up to us.

Thomas Gibson & Shemar Moore are BOTH needed. You can't lose your lead and TG deserves better. Come on CM fans, fight for our show!

I liked Elle but i felt that she wasnt the best fit for the show, however she wasnt completely out of place either. She was a cool chick but I dont miss her. I love Emily.
I loved Jason Gideon but when he left, the show became more ensemble and family feeling and less involvied around Gideon. The show improved a great deal without Gideon and Season 4 was the best. There were 26 episodes too. Seaosn 5 I also loved. Actually, % wasmy favoirte season.
But Seaver, as a one time guest star, she was ok but not great, after that...wtf? SHe doesnt belong on the show. Get off Seaver!

…When it's all said and done, Thomas and Shemar are probably (nothing is ever for sure) going to get new contracts and they're going to get those contracts because they want to come back, because they aren't making ridiculous demands, because they earned them and because the network believes they are vital to the continued success of the show. Sure, there is always the chance that they won't be able to reach an agreement and if that happens it'll suck, but if CBS didn't want them back would they be bothering with negotiating, which we know has been going on with at least TG."

“…because they aren’t making ridiculous demands…”

That really got me thinking what could possibly be a ridiculous demand from Thomas Gibson to CBS and Ed. Let’s see, maybe $1.3 million an episode, with a hooker allowance; an allowance for cocaine or the drug of his choice; a hotel-damage fund for when he wanted to bust-up the furniture; a battered wife, girlfriend and fiancĂ© fund for when he felt like kicking around his better half; and how about that wild-party fund to pay for the extra security and the ambulances that take him to and fro. These are the unwritten staples in Charlie Sheen’s contract; and if they’re not ridiculous or unreasonable because CBS continues to enable his behavior; then whatever Thomas Gibson could possibly demand would pale in comparison.

I say give TG what he asks for and then some. He has not only earned it, he deserves it. It would never come close to what CBS has forked over to the disruptive, immoral and reckless Sheen; and Gibson is a far better ambassador for the CBS brand.

"NO TG, NO CM FOR ME."

Sorry, but as long as TG is there, I know I will watch; if he's gone, I'm gone too.

Sadly, with the way Criminal Minds is going and the way CBS is handling this situation by potentially firing the strongest characters and adding random unhelpful new characters, I may have to find a better way to spend my Wednesday nights.
If someone were to have told me 3 years that I would become so attached to a show or a character mentally and emotionally, I would have just laughed. Then, when I discovered Season 2 of Criminal Minds, and characters such as Emily Prentiss, I couldn't believe that it was more than just a show or fictional character. I felt her pain, happiness, and thought of her as my best friend. In addition, watching Criminal Minds on Wednesday nights became a tradition in my household.
Then, if someone were to have told me 2 years ago that I would get tired of watching, I would have laughed and told them "Never, Criminal Minds is superbly well-written, the profiling is intriguing, and the cast works like a well-oiled machine. They are family and have become family to me." Yet, here I am, wondering if I spoke too soon.
Clearly, the quality of the show has deteriorated. Due to CBS's gigantic mistake, the profiling seems lacking this season, the character barely interact (it's just been Morgan/Prentiss and Hotch/Rossi) and Seaver's useless lines make me question whether the BAU is an "elite" group of profilers anymore.
Personally, I am going to finish watching the end of Season 6 JUST to see how Prentiss' storyline pans out because I have no doubt that Paget will shine. However, if Season 7 is anything like the start of Season 6, I don't think Wednesday nights will be Criminal Minds night anymore, sadly.
Forever I will ask CBS, "If it wasn't broken, why try and attempt yet miserably fail at "fixing" it. Criminal Minds was one of the best yet underrated crime shows. If you were to do anything, it should have been to promote them more, not destroy it."

You know some here keep telling everyone how Seaver don't belong and how she ruin things BUT all those people talk about is about Seaver! While all this rehash talk about an unimportant cadet is going on, we can lose two more cast members and not any cast members but Gibson, the lead actor on CM, and Moore the supporting actor!

Enough of Seaver. We all get it, almost no one like her, yes she doesn't fit, there is about 2000 posts on this blog that says this. If CBS and Bernero don't get by now they never will.

can we now look at what will happen if Gibson and Moore are not back? Any of you who keep bashing about Seaver, and at this point this IS bashing, think it will matter if Seaver is back for S7 if Gibson and Moore are not back? No it won't because CM will get cancel after a few episodes!

I really want Hotch and Morgon and Emily and JJ to all return for season 7 and I want Seaver gone.
The fans are trying to get Seaver off the show becuase she is killing thw show, but if Thomas GIbson and Shemar Moore leave, especially TG, the show will be over and there will be nothing to save and watch for ourselves.
Its conflicting when you love a tv show and when there are so many problems going on becuase TBTB meddle when there isnt anything broken that needs to be fixed. But now CM is dying...

How is it bashing Duke? The thread says "What's on your mind?" Apparently, the Seaver character not belonging and ruining the integrity of the show is important for people to bring up and keep bringing up until that issue is resolved. Now, yes, I agree that we need to get to the business of Gibson, Moore, and finding a way if possible to have Paget stay, but I don't think it is fair for you to say that those who express their feelings that they do not want Seaver to return is bashing. Is it, was it, bashing when people sounded off about the writing? Believe me, there were countless comments about that, still are. People can express concern and take action on multiple things without compromising the goal.

People express on about what you'd like and at the same time let's coordinate about how to handle the current Gibson, Moore, and Paget situations.

Reading all these comments involving AS/RN has prompted me to throw in my two cents worth. I do not hate Ashley Seaver, nor do I hate Rachael Nichols. Ashley Seaver is a perfectly good character. Someone whose father was a serial killer which likely prompted her to join the FBI, alluding to something that Hotch said in, I believe it was Natural Born Killers, that some abusers grow up to be abusers and some grow up to catch them. She has obviously chosen the latter. So far so good. She seems to be doing well in her training.

The part that does not fit is her becoming a part of the BAU. She does not have the qualifications. I believe, and I did look it up, that it's seven to ten years of experience that is preferred to become an agent in the BAU. Also one would have to complete the profiling classes. JJ was in the unit for almost seven years and she never gave profiles. Jordan Todd had seven years of experience in counter terrorism and she never gave profiles, because you can't be a profiler if you haven't the education. That's my problem with the Seaver character. I know she's only been in 3 episodes, but she's already giving profiles. So the give her time notion isn't the answer, at least for me, because no matter how much time I give her, she won't be qualified for the unit.

That is my only issue with this woman. I do not know the actress. I've never seen her in anything so I had no preconcieved ideas when she began this role. I will say that her acting hasn't impressed me in a huge way, and I think her contribution to the team has been zilch. That is why I think they should rid the team of Seaver, not because of any hate, but because she is an illogical character who adds nothing to the show.

Kathryn said...

what can i say? CM still has good stories. they are braver than before. Taking JJ out of the series was a brave thing to do. But lame. I will definitely also say the same thing if the same fate go to Prentiss, Morgan, and Hotch. I am like okay to watch the episodes late because of these character changes! it sucks, really...

Thank you Alina! I can talk about multiple topics and not lose sight about what is currently at play. Also, I didn't see anyone saying that people were "bashing" the writers because a lot of individuals in various threads here, me too, stated how the writing has gone down in quality. If people feel that the Seaver character is a serious negative issue that needs to be addressed prior to season 7 (I would be one of those people), then I say speak on about that, speak on on whatever is concerning you about the show. This is an open thread about what is on people's mind. Let people speak about what is on their minds.

Okay, so what do people suggest that we do to try and advocate for Gibson and Moore? Any suggestions on how to possibly reach Paget to plea for her to stay on for season 7?

Anonymous said...

you can call it what you wan, bashing, hate or whatever, Seaver is not a good character on the show. And even if she is considered a good character by some, which is totally legit, Seaver simply doesnt fit in the Bau.
I think the idea of a someone joing the fbi whose father also happens to be a serial killer seems interesting, but Seaver is just a badly written character. I kind of expect someone with that kind of backgorund to have built a thick skin, maybe even be a loner type, certainly not a constant annoyance or someone who is always crying and is just plain annoying. I get that new agents would ask a lot of questions, but for someone who is supposed to have insight,Seaver is seriously lacking and she is always stating the obvious or just making redundant comments.
As for Thomas Gibson and Shemar Moore and Paget Brewster...at this point is unpredictable. I think they will wait to see how the ratings are for Paget's last episode with Aj's much anticipated guest star, and then the episodes after that, to make any decisions.
As nice as Rachel seems and as much as the cast seems to like her, they must know that Seaver is beyond hated or disliked and even they can tell that she is not a realistic character on the show. They probably all want to come back too, but are like all of us fans, holding out hope that AJ will also be asked to return.
I definitly think that Seaver's true colors have shown through within the first three eps that we have had to endure of her, but on Wednesday she becomes a regular and a full fledged special agent instead of just a cadet, everyone probably wants to see if Seaver can get any more annoying and hated.
I personally want everyone back including JJ and I wasnt Seaver gone. I will definietly be posting on Wednesday because I can feel that Seaver is not going to improve in the least. Really looking forward to Prentiss' storyline.

I don't like censorship and I feel that people saying don't talk about this or don't talk about that are coming close to that. The blog administrator opened this up to talk about what is on individual's people's minds. It may not be something that is on your mind, it may not be something that you care about, or it may be something that you are sick of reading about. Oh well, the thread is open to speak about what the person who is typing wants to talk about related to the show. Posters, write about what is on your mind, not what others feel you should or shouldn't be writing about.

Evelyn, I am still thinking about what to do with regard to Gibson and Moore. Paget, that may be a little tricky because I think today is her last day on the set, so I am not sure how we would reach her other than trying to find out her agent's contact information. I'm thinking maybe if we were to send her letters, cards, pictures, whatever, stating why we want her to stay on the show, how important she is on the show, and how much we would miss her, that this might be nice. However, I think if we do that it needs to be done in a respectful way, not in a way that would be perceived by her as blame from us if she were to leave. No guilt tripping. Basically something acknowledging that it is her decision to stay or go, but that we really hope that she stays.

What do people think about that?

sdwally: My sentiments exactly re: CBS and their support of Charlie Shi- ,er, I mean Sheen, and their beloved 2 1/2 men. He is prob'ly getting 2 1/2 X what our entire cast is making ($) and it infuriates me to think that his deplorable behavior is getting rewarded by the network. But the other element that enters into this, is the fact that TONS of people actually tune in to watch this a--! Do they not realize they are supporting a total loser who is a derelict and a disgrace to the community? to the public at large? They are as guilty ot filling his pockets as much as CBS and I wish there was a way around it.

It's just not fair and must really irritate all the quality actors who take their craft seriously and live decent lives as well: like out CM team! You never read about them in Star! or OK or any of those rag magazines. They go about their business, lead quiet lives and give no one grief and get punished for it. Damn!

Don't you wish we were running the show? If this were a corporation or business, and he was an employee, he would be so outta there! (If I were HR mgr, which is what I used to be) But, no, lest we not forget, we are dealing with Hollywood here, and not people who live in the real world.
They can get away with murder and come out smelling like roses.

Damn again!

BTW, looking forward to Wed. nite and wondering if maybe Reid will suffer a headache anytime soon? I'm more ready for that story than the possible impending demise of our beloved Paget, despite that being an intriguing storyline. I am too apprenhensive about the outcome. Sigh...I guess I will settle for a decently written episode given all the crap I am reading here, it's about all we can hope for...

Anonymous said...

Oh, don't worry, Reid's headaches will be back as soon as Prentiss leaves and the only female field agent is Seaver. It will be the lure they will try and use to keep people watching when Prentiss leaves.

I think its a great idea to let Paget know how improtant and loved she is. Actually ZI wanted to do that with AJ COok but I dont have a twitter account and dont really want one. I cant find any email or mailing addresses for either Paget or AJ but if anyone knows, please post something up.

I've watched the first three Emily episodes (The Last Word, Lessons Learned, Sex, Birth, Death), and I've watched the first three Rossi episodes (About Fae, Identity, Lucky), and I can say without a shadow of a doubt I liked both of them by that point, AND I felt they belonged on the team. Contrast that with Ashley, and I DON'T feel she belongs on the team. Her three episode "arc" served no purpose after the first one. I can't believe they wrote in that Hotch approved her remedial training on the team when he was off screen. That alone should have required some serious defending, but we are just supposed to take that on faith. That is a complete reversal for how Hotch normally acts professionally. It's all topped off with Ashley the cadet, not even a special agent, giving part of the profile to the police. She just lost all credibility for me at that point. I can't wait (sarcasm) to see the reason she is back on the team in episode 15. Last week's episode felt great without her.

Emily and JJ fan said...

LaShawna,

I feel exactly the same way. The longer Ashley Seaver is on the show, the more I detest her. I wont get over it until she's off the show and hopefully JJ is back on.

Carol said...

@ LaShawna, that is one of my concerns with that character, the fact that the other team members are going to have to be writen out of character because of her presence there. Oh boy, I can't even imagine what they are going to invent for her being there this week and beyond, or maybe they won't say anything and she will just be there. Crazy...

Paget, please stay, please!

Seaver is good enough said...

What is with all this seaver talk.
Why does it even bother anyone she is there. She is not the center of attention on the show. So i say she should stick around it doesn't hurt the slightest she is there at all. So i say keep her the show could use a female agent there is to few of them to begin with on this male driven show

Seaver Is NOT Good Enough said...

Totally agree that the team needs a female agent but how about one that makes sense? There is no way to convince me (and by the sound of it, many in this thread) that a cadet belongs with the BAU.

What supporters fail to realize is that a cadet would not be part of this team. If you have to replace AJ and Paget - which we unfortunately do - then bring in a female agent with some experience, one that has earned her way onto this elite squad.

You might be willing to settle but most want her replaced with a better character. Bring her back in five years when she's earned her stripes.

Seaver is good enough said...

Well from the next episode she is NOT a cadet anymore. You are all jumping the gun. Just give her a little time i am sure she will shine soon. Rossi also prived every hater wrong. And by the way it is told countless of times she is NOT replacing AJ or pagett or even JJ and prentiss(i think that is what you meant right)

I have watched all six seasons of Criminal Minds religiously, and I love the dynamic of the cast. To change so drastically in the span of a season seems like CBS wants the show to fail. That breaks my heart.

This show is an escape from other series where every single character is involved in some sort of sexually driven drama.

I stopped watching American TV for a while because of the over-use of sex as a dramatic catalyst.

Then, I found CM. At this point in the show, I feel that Thomas Gibson and Shemar Moore still have some wonderful story lines to act out. They're brilliant. The entire cast is brilliant.

I also made many friends through the CM fandom. I feel as though this show has brought me to so many new views and debates that I can't even begin to describe.

Cutting out the cast and adding in more and more younger members will not necessarily gain viewers, which is what I feel CBS is trying to do. Rather, I feel that they will lose those of us who enjoy the mature and deft handling of story lines. I love they easy chemistry between the cast. They're why I watch the show.

Whenever I tune into an old episode of Criminal Minds on ion, I feel like none of what has happened to Criminal Minds has actually taken place. Shortly after the episode ends, however, the reality of what has indeed happened to Criminal Minds comes to light. A show that used to be so cleverly written, that was witty and full of suspense, has crumbled down to a flurry of cliches and poor character additions. So much has gone bad with the show that one hardly knows where to begin or what to highlight. In an effort to stay consistent, I will focus on the most glaring issues with CM to date.

The most pressing issue is the writing. The writing is the foundation of any show. If there is good writing, the show has a leg to stand on, if the writing is bad, the show could have the best actors and actresses on it and it wouldn't make a difference because there is only so much an actor and actress can do. If the script is bad, the ooutcome will be bad. When CBS fired many of the show's writers at the end of season 4, this was the first in a series of a 3 alarm Criminal Minds fire.

The second bell that went off was AJ Cook's dismissal. Whether one liked her character on the show or not, what her dismissal showed was the negative and disturbing effect of what happens when network interference in the creative flow of a show sideline's the future creative output of the show, not to mention the morale of the remaining cast and crew. Likewise, what was done to Paget Brewster, also demonstrates how the present and future of a show can be hindered by what was done to the basic structure of the show by network tampering.

Thirdly, the latest cast addition is a culmination of the first two bells that went off in this three alarm fire. I think it is safe to say that the majority of those who presently view Criminal Minds have either been viewing the show from the very beginning, or at least for more than two seasons, including watching the old episodes and marathons on ion and A&E. When someone has been viewing a show for that amount of time, they know instinctively what will and what won't work with the show. Some here have said "The Seaver character has been on for only 3 episodes, let's see how the character fleshes out," the error in stating that is that for the average Criminal Minds viewer it does not take more than perhaps 1 or 2 episodes to determine what type of character will make sense for the show they have been watching for at least 3 years. Knowing instinctively what will work for the show is not the same as perhaps liking a character off the bat. While some may have had issues when Prentiss and Rossi showed up on the show, instinctively, whether they liked them or not, because of the nature of those characters they knew that they made sense for the show. Again, maybe they didn't like them, but they knew they fit. Therein lies the issue with the Seaver character, instinctively one knows that this character does not make sense for the show that they have watched for at least 3 years. And so, this character addition not only highlights how far the show has traveled away from its roots, from what made it distinct and good, but it shows how the setting off of the first two bells led to the creation of this character. This character is the byproduct of what has been going wrong with the show for sometime now.

continued, part 2

With the Criminal Minds fire still raging, one is left to wonder what will happen once the smoked has cleared. Will the writing continue to deteroriate? Will more cast members be eliminated and/or decide to leave? Will more poor cast additions be inserted into the show? Without a doubt, I believe that the only way to stop what is shaping up to be the total consumption of Criminal Minds by these separate fires is to begin the process of reconstructing what has already been damaged by these fires. First, the writing on the show must once again reflect the clever, witty and suspenseful writing that set this show apart from all others on network TV. Second, an effort must be made to either seek to regain characters unwisely eliminated from the show, or at the very minimum, ensure that those who remain will continue to appear on the show. Lastly, characters that do not instinctively work with the show must be eliminated, for what does not instinctively work can never be made to do so no matter how much time goes by.

If these steps are not followed, then sadly, I believe the whole Criminal Minds "house" will be charred beyond recognition and salvation.

If the digitalspy article re: Paget's being asked to return for S7 is correct, then hopefully I'm not being overly optimistic in saying that it APPEARS, somehow & at long last, that at least some of the valid sentiments of offended viewers are being taken into account. That (include the seen-as-necessary upgrade in Gina LaSalle's qualifications) is an encouraging sign that we concerned & thoughtful CM fans must continue to make known what's on our minds, what strikes us as wrong about the show & how that can be remedied. Our collectively expressed sentiment may yet make a dent in TPTB's decisions. Will continue hoping so, anyway.

Seaver Is NOT Good Enough said...

So you're saying that it makes perfect sense for a newly graduated FBI agent to jump right into the BAU. Yeah right! It will take more than that for her to "shine through".

Sheila from NJ said...

I've been reading a lot of these comments and a lot of them make sense. I didn't mind the Rachel Nichols character but people are right, a brand new agent wouldn't be on this team. I always thought this was supposed to be a special squad, now it seems like anyone can do it. Seaver and now this new team lead by Whitaker. Seaver and the other team are making a mockery out of the orginal Criminal Minds.

I hope they fix my favorite show. I won't watch anymore if Hotch leaves. The poll shows a lot of people feel that way. I wish they would bring back JJ. The show isn't the same without her. They can keep Seaver but in a background role as a new agent learning the ropes. And I really hope they keep Prentiss on the show.

Anonymous said...

I hope more people will vote that no, they won't watch CM if Shemar Moore is taken off the show. Shemar was the cast member candid enough to voice his displeasure about AND lack of felicitations for the spinoff, a sentiment that most share here. I hope CM fans will do what they can to "protect" him from whatever CBS may be cooking up to "punish" him, particularly if TPTB will go by his relatively low numbers in the poll -- even if just by manifesting that they absolutely do want him to remain on the show.

Felicia said...

Madeline, thank you for the wonderful post you wrote. Yes, i believe that this downward spiral with Criminal Minds began when the writers were fired at the end of season 4. As you said, all of he actors and actresses can be on the show that should be on it, but if the scripts aren't good the episode won't be good because there is only so much they can do. Also, what happened to AJ and Paget, along with the firing of the writers, does show how the network's action set up this show to be where it is at now. Those two things together did lead to the creation of the Saever character, which like you said, long term Criminal Minds fans know instinctively is not good for the show and should thus be eliminated because no matter how much time passes, that instinct will not change.

I know it sounds harsh to say eliminate a character, but honestly, if something is not good for the show, why keep it around. Something that is not good, in one way or another, will effect what is good. I know people have suggested that if that character stays that it should be a background character. The problem with that is that this character hasn't been a background character and I don't think they would ever keep someone on, write them, as a background character unless it is a guest character like Kevin Lynch. The show doesn't need anyone there learning the ropes. This is not a learning th eropes type team or environment. They are dealing with profiling and cataching dangerous predators. It doesn't make sense to have a character like Seaver there being that the BAU is that kind of time, and I think the goal is to have characters that make sense for the show so that the writing and the flow of the show will make sense.

Also, not telling people how they should vote but I think that the Anonymous who wrote,

"I hope more people will vote that no, they won't watch CM if Shemar Moore is taken off the show. Shemar was the cast member candid enough to voice his displeasure about AND lack of felicitations for the spinoff, a sentiment that most share here. I hope CM fans will do what they can to "protect" him from whatever CBS may be cooking up to "punish" him, particularly if TPTB will go by his relatively low numbers in the poll -- even if just by manifesting that they absolutely do want him to remain on the show."

Shemar was brave enough to come out and say what he did. I would hate to give the network any ammunition to be able to "justify" cutting yet another original cast member.

Felicia said...

I meant to write that it doesn't make sense for the character of Seaver to be there being that the BAU is that kind of "team," not "time," but also, this is not the kind of team or environment to expend time on someone who is learning the ropes. They have to hit the floor running with people who are capable of contributing to the profile. I know that the writers will probably to try to write the character as if she can do that, but instinctively, we will know that is wrong and it will just degrade the show if they do that.

What’s on my mind …. The discussion on my morning radio station pointed out the double standards of our local network that airs 2 ½ Men, a view that I know is shared by many … the discussion highlighting the support of the show and constant advertising in prime time and through prime events essentially endorsing the behaviour of Sheen, where the network have immediately cancelled contracts of elite sports stars turned reporters for one time alleged drug use or inappropriate drunken behaviour in public, which has happened in two cases that I know of recently. This as we know is the same thing that CBS has been doing repeatedly, however don’t seem to have any qualms about running CM and its amazing cast through the ringer at every turn.

As many have said here are a cast of STARS who have repeated proven themselves, here is a show that has withstood some of our most amazing writers being taken out (although the cracks are beginning to show this season!), and cast changes that have torn apart this family, with all this turmoil they still stand amazingly tall and bring in those ratings for the network, and more often than not are the number one show in their timeslot. Can you imagine the ratings they could rake in if they had even 1/10th of the support and advertising that some of CBS’s other shows enjoy??

Considering what has gone on with Sheen and the obscene amount of money that CBS have sunk in there & continue to, I’m astounded that CBS would even contemplate the renewal of TG’s and SM’s contracts for even a second, which are unjustifiably & unfairly paltry in comparison. I cannot believe that we even have to put up a fight to bring these amazing actors back to our screens for another season.

Given the show’s ratings todate I’m hoping that season 7 renewal of the show is only a matter of formality and by extension I’m hoping that TG & SM will be back with the remaining regular cast, Seaver being the exception. I do hope too that Paget will reconsider and take up the offer for season 7, although I guess time will tell given her current pilot offers.

So here’s hoping and fervently wishing that someone, somewhere out there is paying some attention to all of the many viewer comments, and can do something to fix the parasite that has attacked this show this season and restore it to its former glory.

Obviously, the Seaver character not being a good fit for the show, more than that, a nonsensical character, is something that is on people's minds, and whether you or anyone else is tired of it, I don't think people who want to discuss it should potentially be discouraged from doing so.

I don't like Seaver, wish she wasn't there but talking about in every open thread here is getting tiresome. Even in episodes she doesn't appear some have to complain about her.

For me she is such an unimportant character, she rates lower than Anderson and Gina! I prefer to talk about the possibility of not having Hotch Morgan and Prentiss next season, THAT would be the end of CM and not the addition of a dreadful character IMO.

That's all for now. Cannot address the Seaver situ anymore. Plus, like Maria S., I have not yet had my morning coffee:)

ok for some reason my first comment isnt showing up but I suggested that we send our comments directly to cbs. They have a feedback section on their site so we can voice our concerns about how we despise Seaver and how we want Paget and Thomas, SHemar and AJ back on the show for season 7
just go to cbs and hope that someone from tptb is reading it.

Carol said...

Not all people despise Seaver. So no i will not send a feedback to CBS about a character that doesn't even matter or makes the show bad.

So i think she should stay to see if she can proof to us she is worthy of the team.

I am for Seaver a fresh face is always welcome, if its a female agent who this show have so few off to begin with on this show.

I also had it with this endless Seaver discussion she is not ruining the show and she is not making it better.
So why the hell does it bother so many here she is even on the show.

Give her a break and see what she can do in the the coming episodes

Adrienne said...

She won't be able to do anything Carol because she is a cadet, rookie, junior agent, pseudo-profiler, whatever you want to label her as; and I for one will always bring that point up no matter what the writers try and show otherwise. If you want to buy that she can contribute something to the team when she has aboslutely no credentials to do so, then that is your right, but I for one am not buying it. Also, it makes me mad that out of all the female additions to the cast that could be added the one that is added is not only not qualified to be there, but is basically there because they felt sorry that she felt bad about her performance in the case in the "What happens at home" episode. That is what Prentiss said to Rossi as the reason that Seaver wanted to complete her remeidal trainig at the BAU. I'm sorry, as a woman, that is lame. I want woman who have the credentials to be there like every other woman that has been written into the team.

Plus, the Anonymous writer was not saying that everyone should go give feedback, only those who have an issue with the character and want to voice that in another venue.

carol said...

But what i don't get is people keep talking about Seaver when she is the least of the problems for this show

So that is why i don't get the complaint because she certainly do not make this show worse at all. The natural born killers episode proved that because that was one dreadful episode and she wasn't even in it

I say give her a chance still. After only 3 episodes i am not ready to judge on her yet at all and neither should you

Adrienne said...

I think LaShawna and Madeline's comment said it best. This character has no business being on the team. I don't care if she has only been in 3 episodes, that doesn't change the fact that because of where she is at experience wise she should not be on the team and I take offense that after all of these years the writers are trying to peddle this character on as if she has the qualifications to be there.

I agree that the Seaver character isn't affecting the show in any way good or bad, but the critics (the ones I read anyway) loved "Natural Born Killers" and actually so did I. I think there's only been a couple of episodes this season I haven't cared much for. I agree that the show has changed some, which isn't uncommon for a long running series. Seasons 5 and 6 have a different feel to them than the first four did. I just don't agree that the changes are necessarily a bad thing. Time will tell I suppose.

Amy said...

What's this after only 3 episodes stuff? So, how many episodes shouled it be? 5, 10, 15? It shouldn't take a large amount of episodes for someone to determine whether or not a character fits. And to most everyone's point, the characters back story doomed her from the beginning. A cadet being able to contribute anything of value to the seasoned BAU pro's, come on. Had she been written as an experienced agent, that is one thing, but she wasn't.

I'd also like to say that I hope that CBS doesn't plan on screwing around with Thomas Gibson or Shemar Moore. Seriously, anymore cast cuts and it is bye bye for me, and for that matter, bye bye for Criminal Minds because I don't think they will be able to bounce back from anymore cast cuts.

Athina said...

I have been watching TV all my life. There were some very good series out there, from Sci-Fi to adventure, CSI series.
However, I have never felt as strong about a series as I do about Criminal Minds. Maybe it’s the interaction between the fans and the cast/crew. Maybe it is the good-past-story lines. Maybe it’s just the fact that deep inside, we are all curious about the mind of a killer.
I asked my husband the other day “Why do people react to CM like that and to changes made to it? Why not to another series like CSI or NCIS? Petersen left CSI and everything was OK”. I think that his answer is the answer to why we love CM. He said: “CSI is about the story line and the specific subject. Criminal Minds is about the characters and the cast. Change that, and you no longer have consistency or interest”.
The very fact that I am spending this time writing this , is proof enough that I care. I care what happens to the cast, I care what happens to the show. And I am not even from USA! Even if this is some sort of stunt to promote the show or cause some stirring or a way for the cast to get a better deal, I trully don’t care. As far as I am concerned, there is nothing wrong with promoting the show, it deserves a lot of stirring and they better have this cast well paid!! And yes, I would go door-to-door to promote it , if I had too. THIS IS THE DEDICATION OF A CM FAN. This show and this cast are like family between them and like family with their fans. You break that up and you no longer have a top-ten series. Let the choice be made by CBS, Ed or whoever, but, do not ask yourselves what went wrong in the end.
Finally, stop spreading rumors about Thomas Gibson or Shemar leaving. If it gets out of control, the fans will no longer trust them, CBS or anyone else for that matter. You will have the exact oposite result of what you expect. AJ leaving has back fired… big time. Seaver character: poor choice to say the least. Don’t mess with a good thing-it’s good for a reason.

Apparently Paget filmed her final scenes now. I'll miss her. I know that when her last episode airs, I will be in tears the way I was when Aj's last aired.

“CSI is about the story line and the specific subject. Criminal Minds is about the characters and the cast.

That's really not true. Criminal Minds is very much about the psycho of the week with the characters on the peripheral. I realize for many, the show is all about the characters for them, but it's not a character driven drama, it's an every day, run of the mill crime procedural whose characters don't necessarily make or break it.

Personally, I like the characters and I have my favorite and I wouldn't keep watching the show if Hotch were no longer in charge anymore than I continued to watch CSI without Grissom. But, as we've all seen, there are millions who will still tune in every week to watch the case of the week whether Grissom is there or not and sadly that would most likely be the case with Criminal Minds regardless of which characters they eliminate.

I'm not suggesting they want to eliminate Thomas or Shemar, I'm only suggesting they would if they were pushed to do so. Those two actors just don't have the bargaining leverage of someone like the much maligned Charlie Sheen because without Charlie there is no show, but Criminal Minds would most likely continue on just fine without either of them if the psycho of the week is interesting enough. I wouldn't watch without Hotch, but I suspect there are millions who would.

I'd of course love to believe I'm wrong about that, but I've seen enough turn over in television shows to realize that my feelings on the matter amount to "zilch" in the grand scheme of things.

Sara said...

I don't tune in for the psycho of the week, I tune in for the characters. Yes, the psycho's are part of the show, but it is the characters that make the show shine for me, the way they are written, the way they interact with one another. This is why I am so sad that Paget is leaving. Next season without Paget is going to suck. I don't think I will be able to watch it, especially if Seaver is still around.

Anonymous said...

I agree with Sara. i began watching the show becuase AJ is my favoirte and I still watch the show becuase I love the characters and the psycho of the week, but especially the characters. Without JJ, Emily and Hotch, I cant watch CM anymore, especially since Seaver is ruining my viewing time.
And yes, for many people, Seaver soes seem to be killing the show with her presence. Its just so irritatingly unrealistic for her to be on the show, whether she is a cdet or a graduated full fleged agent, it doesnt fit and its not part of the flow of the show. Criminal Minds has been off since JJ left and its going to get more offbeat with Paget gone.
I think for many people, they watch the show because of the characters. Take them away... bye bye Criminal minds.

I just checked out Rachel Nichols twitter becvuase I heard that she posts pics up from the set and she has in the past couple of weeks, but I dont actually follow her on my account. I actually hate her character but dont really care for her as an actress and I check out and do follow every ohter cast member of CM except RN, no pics of Reid or anything sadly but there was a tweet about how she finds it hilarious that people who hate her on CM still follow her and if we hate her so much then unfollow her.
Just wanna say that she is half right in her egotistical/rightfully defensive way. If you hate her, dont actually folow her becuase that kind of feeds her ego and some may interpret that as postive sign that we may want her to stay on the show, which most of us dont.
On the other hand, she has a right to say that because she doesnt actually deserve all the flak, even if it is her fault in some ways, but not all of it is.
Bottom line, just unfollow her if you hate her, but if you're just hoping for some cast pics and whatnot then you can still check out her twitter without following her.
I know that this is a twisted comment but I'm trying to incorporate all perspectives in a nutshell.

I agree with you sf81387. We have fallen for the characters - and some have fallen for specific writers - but CBS can easily replace them and does. How many people out of the 14 million viewers post on this site? I think the latest number for "the keep JJ & Paget poll" may have reached 40,000. A significant number, but probably not a risky number for CBS to be too concerned about. (And by the way, if TG isn't rehired, I look forward to free Wednesday evenings.)

And since this is the site to state what's on my mind:

Yes, I am tired of the anti-Seaver rant. It's like the nag of a thousand cuts.

And, yes, I am tired of the made-up rivalry between the Hotch and Morgan characters. I'm retired Air Force and I have witnessed many leadership styles. When acting as the unit chief, Hotch has never given up leadership of the team. He does not believe in destroying its effectiveness by failing to delegate when appropriate.

still got some anti seaver.... said...

I have to admit...I'm not yet tired of the anti Seaver rants. Mostly becuase I'm hoping that she'll be off the show by the team season7 rolls around and I hope that the real Cm family of Hotch,JJ, Emily, Reid, Morgon, Garcia, and Rossi are back as a team. the true team. i just cant accept Seaver or Rachel Nichols as a permanent cast member.

Really mis Aj as JJ on CM. Decided to watch all the Tru Calling episodes with AJ in them. Her character, Lindsay Walker, is the most fashionable character that AJ has ever played.I really loved her look.

I am so tired of this Twitter pity party like Brianna posted. Note, if people are sending you negative tweets, ignore them! This is so silly! But you are right comment girl, the best thing to do is not to follow her on Twitter if you feel negatively about her and/or the character of Seaver. I don't like how this has all become about her ego, people hating on her, people not giving her a chance, HER, HER, HER. GOd, this is just so stupid!

For me, and I know countless others here and in the other forums that talk about CM, people are talking about the Ashley Seaver character, not Rachel Nichols. I have absolutely no idea who Nichols is or what she has been in before CM. The one thing I do not like is this Twitter nonsense, or should I say propaganda to get people to feel sorry for an actress, or to hate the haters or whatever other childish thing comes up.

I lay this whole mess squarely at the feet of Ed Bernero because he is the one who created this disastrous character, then promptly left to handle business at the spin-off, which I definitely will not be watching tomorrow night. I've heard that his excuse to what I know he must know by now is a negative reaction to the Seaver character is that people are still hung up on AJ being fired. I simply cannot believe that if he is reading the thoughtful and well- written comments here about the problems with the Seaver character (virtually none of which mention the JJ character) that he can still hang his hat on the "JJ factor." If so, then I'm sorry, he has no credibility to be a showrunner. A showrunner is not only supposed to see to it that the day to day functions run well on a show (scripts, locations, etc.), but also that any changes made to the show are running smoothly, and when necessary, admit that an error was made. I know that this character was his doing and maybe he is taking it personal that many people find this character to be basically a farce, but if he doesn't admit that he made a mistake with regard to this character, well, then I don't know. Everyone makes mistakes, what matters in the end is the ability to admit to those mistakes and rectify them.

Thank you Karla J,

I only check for pics on Rachel Nichols twitter if I cant find any on Paget's or Thomas or Gubler or Mantegna or AJ or Vangness's twitters. But I DO NOT FOLLOW her.
that would be showing support and that is the last thing I would want to do.
And I agree with you on the Ed Bernero thing.
People are not getting over Aj being fired unjustly but that doesnt change the fact or have anything to do with the dislike of Seaver.
Seaver is a badly wirtten eager beaver, and no one really likes an eager beaver especially not Seaver. I know that rhymes, it just came to mind.
Sorry, a lot of bed time reading of Dr. Suess lately,
anyway,
waht was Bernero thinking when he wrote Seave the way he did and now it just seems that the writers and producers are ignoring the fan input whcih they will regret because these issues need to be addressed and fixed otherwise the rating s will probably falter long enough to be considered crucial to the shows survival.
As for the spinoff, it looks like it sucks.

haha I've been having an AJ attack too and watching Tru Calling as well. I have the dvds and I am a big fan of Eliza Dushku. I think she would make a cool guest star. A faith like unsub type, except much more twisted. I miss her so much.
Does anyone know if there are any Higher Ground dvds or if I can watch it online?

I can understand Rachel Nichols is a sweetheart but seeing her on set playing around, having fun carrying a gun make me, i don't know, sad...i guess. In my mind as if this people posting picture of her was trying to kind of 'promote'her as one of CM family. And how the hell that make me feel?sad, angry and asking where's JJ?I want Prentiss!God, i felt so childish right now.I seriously want her out of CM.but you know what, CBS never listen. They gonna keep her and continue doing that we hate.and we the loyal fans, keep watching.

anonymous,

I agree with you all the way. That seems to be the tactic being used to make the fans like Seaver and all it is doing is making me feel more sympathy for Paget and AJ. It just doesnt feel right, plus it feels forced.
The pics of AJ back on set for Paget's last episode, she seemd sad and she's always smiling but... she seemed really sad and I just want to tell her how much I love her and same with Paget. This isnt fair!
I know this may seem strange to say but... I almost feel betrayed for both Paget and AJ, betrayed by the cast and crew. Though they really seemd to miss her, still. I felt that Aj posing with the makeup artist and Rachel, she was smiling but it seemd so awkward. I would have felt so awkward posing with my replacement. Good thing there was a buffer. There arent any pics ofPaget and Rachel though. Aj seems to nice to say no to anyone or to be mean though

Karla J., thank you as well. This whole thing is just so juvenile. I too lay this too squarely at the feet of Ed Bernero because instead of looking critically at what he wrote as a character, he instead jetted off to the spin-off and now is trying to use the excuse that people who have an issue with the Seaver character do so because of AJ. While there are some that that applies to, the overwhelming majority here and elsewhere have demonstrated the opposite is true.

If Ed is reading these comments, and I sincerely hope that he is, or that someone is reporting this to him, I would ask that he please read the comments and analyze what people have taken time out of their day to write. Many of the people here have written coherent posts about why the Seaver character doesn't work for CM and why the character will never work.

For him to say that it is just about AJ being fired is similar to the people who say that people who have an issue with the Seaver character hate Rachel Nichols. That is illogical and flawed thinking. In addition, it totally discounts the fact that people here and elsewhere who have written on this topic can think critically without letting some perceived bias get in the way. That is insulting to me and I would assume others. What also upsets me as well is that while the spin-off equivalent to Seaver got a do over before the show airing tomorrow, making her a Supervisory Special Agent instead of a rookie like Seaver, CM is still saddled with the rookie.

I'll say this, you can bet your bottom dollar I am not watching the spin-off tomorrow night.

The hell with the spinoff! Can you say cash cow? How money hungry and redundant can CBS get? Ed Bernero, come back to the original Criminal Minds and fix the damage please. It was tried and true up until JJ/ AJ's departure and it was tried and true for a reason! It worked! Now its not working and Seaver is making matters worse!

sad,

i agree. I too have noticed that Rachel Nichols seems to be trying a bit too hard to make people like her in away with the twitter stuff. She's following AJ and Paget but neither of them are following her and the Pic of Aj and rachel looked kinda forced to me. It was probably something that the producers were hoping would endorse Rachel being on the show if Aj poses with them but I think AJ is too nice to say no she wont pose. Plus it was obviosuly meant to show that the two do look very different next to each other, and who can possibly compare to aj's ethereal girl next door beauty?
These kindof cheap tactics make me dislike the actress. Rachel and the other chick in the picture should have been more considerate towards AJ. It was rude to get AJ to pose in a twitter pic then try to sell it to the fans. rachel has lost any respect I had for her as a person. I am with AJ all the way.
And I dont like Seaver either.

OMG, I do not use Twitter but I truly hope that "the one we love to hate" does not somehow benefit by all the attention she is getting with all the rants on this blog.

Let's re-think this, guys, there is NO way that the CM decision makers have not heard/read all of this even if they only heard it INDIRECTLY from her or others and let's just lay off. If it hasn't infuenced them by now, it won't EVER.

We don't want this to backfire and end up that she STAYS because of all this attention, albeit negative.

A-A-A-G-G-H-H! That is NOT what we are trying to accomplish here!

Changing the subject to something EVEN MORE IMPORTANT:

Is there somewhere to be posting our desire for Paget to stay? I certainly hope it is not a done deal, and that she decided to be outta here. I'm still hoping they taped TWO endings so that they can show whichever, depending on her decision, but I realize that future episodes will be dependent on this as well, so that cannot go on for long...oh, my, what else can we do??

And all you anonymouses: pls get with the program and NAME YOURESELF so we can talk to you. You must want feedback or you wouldn't keep blogging away. gubegirl,

I think that it will still be difficult to not talk about how we are disgusted by Seaver's useless role in Cm nontheless. Rachel Nichols seems to be aware that a lot of fans hate her but she thinks she's there to stay. How will we get Hotch, Morgon, and Emily to stay and for JJ to return? There are so many issues and they arent going away. The season is half over and true Cm fans arent giving up on the idea of JJ's return oe Emily staying.
Its completely understandable if paget does not want to return, but CBS should really extend the offer to AJ as well. Perhaps they are waiting to see how the rest of the season pans out. My prediction: Paget's leaving will cause massive ratings downhill.
I really hope that AJ and Paget return as well as Hotch and Morgan or Thomas and Shemar I mean.
Worst case scenario, I hope Seaver leaves and that AJ and Paget get a sitcom together. They have good friendship chemistry!

Cindy said...

@ Deb Adler, I am not the one who wrote that comment, Caroline did. I liked it so I cut and paste it to the thread.

gubegirl, yeah, I don't know. This whole thing is crazy, the whole Twitter thing and just all of the nonsense. The other cast members have never acted like this, they are so professional and reserved in what they say except for when PB and SM came out against the spin-off which I agree with them 100%, and when PB states that it wasn't cool what was happening to her and AJ. Other than that, nothing on this scale. I agree with you that I don't want any type of negative attention to be used in her favor. To some degree, I feel that she is using this attention to further her cause which I think is weak and I definitely don't want to contribute to that. If I am wrong about that with regard to her, sorry, but that is truly the vibe that I am getting.

You are right, if CM/CBS has not heard any of these comments with regard to that character from here, or elsewhere, well, then I don't know what planet they are living on because even on the official website people have serious issues with that character and are not shy about sharing them. Even in articles printed about the show, in the comments section, well, let's just say no one wants that character to return for season 7 and basically state the reasons that people have here.

I just don't know what to say about any of this because I feel that it is something that is spinning out of control and no one is doing anything on the CM/CBS side to stop it, and my fear is that when they possibly get to doing something about it, it wil be too late. The sentiments that people have toward that character are not going to go away, and as that character appears in more episodes, I think there may be more potentially said about that character in terms of what they have her do on the show, which will no doubt be something completely ridiculous considering her background.

Where the heck is Ed? Ed, are you out there, do you care, do you see what is going on? Maybe I am just typing to myself at this point because he probably is not there, or if he is, he is sticking to the point that people don't like Seaver because of JJ. Please Ed, please, if you are out there, please read the comments and you'll see that is not the case. So many intelligent people have laid out the valid reasons why this character doesn't work and won't work here and elsewhere. I understand, this was a creative gamble, but Ed, can you really say that it is a gamble that has paid off? We know that you are capable of writing in a character that works and will not cause CM to lose the credibility you and others a have worked so hard to establish.

I think the hate for Rachel Nichols is just disgusting and very scary indeed that people here actually get worked so much up because of a tv character. What the hell has the world come to. And so what if Paget and AJ isn't following her. They are not following the make up artist either. Which from the pics of her twitter account also seems close with.

look at this twitter account. what a complete nutcase getting worked up over a tv show like that

ok micheal,
firstly you care enough to post this and to check out the twitter accounts so drop your holier than thou attitude, secondly while I dont have twitter and am not exactly sure how it works, is Rachel even seeing those comments because I didnt see them when I clicked on her twitter link, thirdly, freedom of speech and pesonal twitter and all give you the right to say what you want and feel what you want and while I wouldnt post the comments directly to Rachel, I do agree with them to the extent that she's a terrible actress and should get off the show on her own. Its probably going to hurt her career later on and she should do whats best for the fans and for a great show.SOrry but I love AJ and Paget.

On the other hand, I agree with Cindy,
I think that Rachel is using the twitter attention in her favour to gain sympathy and I only pity her and the tactics being used, for the fans to like Rachel as a person so that we like her BS character, arent working. They seem to be aggravating people more.

Let me break down a FEW reasons why Seaver is not welcome on CM:
She is a rookie with no experience to be in the elite BAU,
she didnt have any insight to offer apart from the whole pet thing which is classic serial killler berhavior and I read that on a few posts,
she makes obvious and redundant statements,
she is no clarice starling,
she keeps reminding us of her father being a murderer when we dont have constant reminders about the other characters issues, they dont wallow in slef pity,
she is annoying,
the actress is terrible and these are just a few reasons why the hate is on. ANd I bet it will only snowball from here becuase she's a regular tomorrow and few have posted up anything nice to say about her character at all. However you feel about the actress, the Seaver sucks and should be kicked off of Criminal Minds.

Jazz said...

Michael I think you are just going to have to come to terms with the fact that people do not like Seaver. Sorry if you're a big Nichols fan but Seaver isn't the right fit for this team.

Cindy said...

Michael, I haven't clicked on that account because I trust it is probably bad. Unfortunately, people use the internet to say mean and nasty things to people and that is a shame. What I would probably suggest to her is to block that individual and any other individual she feels is being nasty to her. That is probably the best thing to do. But in regard to us getting worked up about the characters and CM as a whole, your right! We are what the blog title says fanatics, we love the show, the characters, and for that I and I am sure others would not apologize. Those individuals who say cruel things to Rachel the actress are not reflective of the people here who love the show and simply want it to produce and deliver what it once did. There are the Hotch fanatics, the Reid fanatics, Prentiss fanatics, etc. Some love the all equally and we discuss a character, the writing, whatever it may be, it is coming from that love and sense of protectiveness over a show that many here have loved for years. The Seaver character is something we know does not work, you may disagree with that as others may as well, but the fact that people have thoughtfully written paragraph upon paragraph of reasons why that character won't work is a testament not only of their vast knowledge of the show, but the love and care they have for it. So yes, while it may seem strange to you that some here are getting as you say worked up over a TV character that is just the way of the CM fanatic done in a respectful and thoughtful way.

Cindy, CM Fanatic :)

hells bells said...

Michael,

you are as well. You just happen to like her, god only knows why, but you do and thats YOUR opinion. so dont shove mine, ok?
you seem like you have crush on her.She really aint that pretty but whatever. oops, did i state my opinion? are you gonna get worked up becasue I am posting on a blog for fanatics?
Take a step back and look at it from other angles. I have and I have clearly staed why. Most hate the character.SOme like the lameass actress and some dont. Why dont you get over it since you have such a huge problem with other people's opinions.

hells bells said...

Btw, i have seen several of her movies and her tv work. She sucks, Again, my opinion.

Jazz said...

Michael, please share with us what "new things" she is bringing to the table for us? I see nothing new in this character. She is, I suppose, written in a Clarice Starlin vein. That certainly isn't new. She is a clone - and a poor one at that - of AJ/JJ. That certainly isn't new.

I suppose the lame stoyline is new for us because we aren't used to such awful characters on the show we know inside and out.

To be honest, I certainly haven't seen the great actress you claim her to be either but I'm more concerned with character and the team than with Nichols as an actress.

HOTCH STAYS said...

Too much Seaver, not enough on saving Thomas & Shemar.

If TG & SM do not return, and with Hotch being the primary reason for tuning in week after week, then I really couldn't care less about Seaver because I will be doing something else on Wednesday nights.

NO HOTCH, NO CM 4 ME!!!

Michael said...

Jazz. Yeah i can give you a great reason why she belongs on the team. Because her father used to be one of the most notorious serial killers on this show. And that could help a great deal because she would know a serial killer like no other on the show . I really think in the upcoming future episodes they will show us that having lived with a serial killer for so long she knows the family side of a serial killer and knows what makes them tick in a different way, that some of them have and could help the team immensely

Jazz said...

Sorry Michael, that's just about as contrived a storyline as I can think of. Even that would not explain her automatic placement within the BAU. It's almost a storyline worthy of the spin-off. Perhaps she would be a better fit over there.

Kimmy said...

The problem with that Michael is that they tried using that angle in her first episode and it amounted to nothing. Plus, that is saying that years of experience as a profiler takes a back seat to someone whose father is a psycho. This team has seen and studied its fair share of psychos, they don't need to hand hold the daughter of one.

To TG and SM, do people think we should start bombarding CBS, specifically Tassler with letters as of now?

Glynnis said...

What's on my mind? Well, it's not really the character who doesn't belong and is just the latest symptom of the major illness CBS has infected CM with...

As I shared many posts back, I will no longer watch CM if they don't keep Thomas Gibson. I prefer they also keep Shemar Moore. I wish they would work to give Paget Brewster reason to want to return to the show. I am dismayed that the writing has not been as good this season. While there were parts of Season 5 I enjoyed VERY much (Hotch parts), I miss the quality the show had in Season 4 (high mark) and before that.

OK. Shows need to be freshened up. OK. Well thought-out change is needed to ensure long-term survival in today's TV market. The changes made this year have not seemed well thought-out, however. Long-term CM fanatics are alienated and scornful of those changes and TPTB.

What's on my mind? The slim hope that someone with a say in things will listen and revitalize CM with good writing, a stronger Hotch lead presence, the return of Pretiss and effective use of Shemar Moore as a passionate second in command.

Please, CBS, listen to the fanatics and make good use of what you already have in hand!

Cindy said...

gubegirl, I haven't seen a thread for Prentiss, not sure if one will be put up, but I would love for one to be put up. I think the issue with that may be that no one wants to give the perception that they are trying to pressure Paget to stay. I know that's not what our intention would be, at the end of the day it is her decision, but I'm thinking that is why a thread may not be started. I do hope one is started though, I would definitely post in there.

I don't think it has been said whether she is definitely leaving or not. I hope she decides to stay!!!

Kimmy, I think sending letters to Tassler as of now may be good. Don't know where to send them, but I would do it. What about others?

Cindy said...

Thanks Mary J! Let's start writing these letters people! I don't want to dictate how people should write the letters, but, just my opinion, I think that we should show concern that both Thomas Gibson and Shemar Moore be treated fairly in their contract talks. I really don't want to give TPTB any fuel to pit one actor against another and then we end up losing another cast member. I can't remember who said it, but today it could be my favorite character, the next day yours. I think that if we present a united front for both, then that would carry weight.

Just my opinion, write the letters as you feel you should, just write them please.

Leanne said...

Imho, I don't think Tassler will care about being 'fair' in contract negotiation. I think the only thing that will get her attention is a mass viewer exodus. She didn't play 'fair' with Paget Brewster or AJ Cook so why would she start now?

CBS, be clear, I will never watch the spin off and if TG isn't back for S7, I'm out.

NO HOTCH, NO CM 4 ME!!!

Cindy said...

True, but I think it may also be effective to let her know that if either of these men get written out (or however you'd like to focus the letter) that the result will be a mass exodus come S7. I don't know, am I wrong about that. If I am, people, please let me know. I want to do whatever will be most effective.

For sure, I am not watching the spin-off tomorrow.

Clara said...

You're completely right Leanne. Tassler never played fair with Paget and AJ and she's still not playing fair with Paget. The article on Deadline Hollywood says CBS and ABC are not offering Paget any work in an attempt to force her to stay. I wouldn't exactly call that playing fair. These people don't hold anything back to get what they want. They don't care about CM, we do. They care about the money, we care about the people. Those people need us now and I for one intend not to let them down.

Cindy said...

Clara, Leanne, so do you think we shouldn't write the letters saying that she should be fair with the contracts, or just not write them at all?

I completely agree that Tassler has no intention of playing fair, she didn't with AJ or Paget, and just look what she has done to the show as a whole.

Camilla said...

There is noway this show can continue without Hotch. Don't know about morgan though but heel i will not see it without any of them. i am positive they will renew. CM is one their biggest ratings hits righ behind NCIS shows. All the CSI's is falling. So they will keep CM no doubt

I say keep the cast as it is now:
SERIES REGULARS:
Joe Mantegna
Thomas Gibson
Paget Brewster
Shemar Moore
Matthew Gray Gubler
Kirsten Vangsness
Rachel Nichols

And don't freaking mess with it. To bad we lost AJ because of tassler that moron

Alex said...

Well, lots of things are in my mind...After Paget leaves, I'm done with CM, I do love Reid, Hotch, Rossi and Morgan...I really really want to keep watching the show to support the cast that is staying but with the lack of well written chapters, a poor written new character (why did we learn more from her in 3 chapters than what we have learn f.e. from Emily in seasons...we are learning now about her because she's leaving?! or JJ), lack of continuity (didn't Emily uses to live in a browstone with an amazing view...maybe she moved, maybe didn't work for the development of the story; didn't Garcia used to have brothers and then she said she's an only child???, what happened with Reid headaches, what happened with Hotch's storyline), what happened with the friendly-family interaction on the team?

I think this show used to work because of the "family feeling" created with both: good writting and a very good cast members...hell ! is like Mulder and Scully what happened with X Files after Mulder left? It was never the same...meaning: the show worked wonderful because of the cast because of the great interaction of the actors.

CM is not the same anymore because AJ is gone, maybe they had Lola and Mandy before but the 'magic' started with the cast that is currently on the show including AJ and Paget B.

Also, Paget had the last word but honestly after the way she was treated? who will want to come back? and bet she's hurting like any other human being...also probably she's not staying because of the poor writting now.

Nothing against Rachel Nichols...but a lot against her character maybe it will be good in a future I don't know, but sorry I won't stay to watch it or to watch how my fav show falls down in season 7

Alex

ps sorry if something sounds weird but english is not my first language

I don't think there will be an issue with CBS approaching Thomas Gibson and Shemar Moore with contracts, the problem, I think, is going to come in what they are offered. For 6 years, CBS has basically had its cake and eaten it too with this show. They have paid the cast miserably in comparison to what the show has raked in for them, along with the revenue this show has generated for the network. Thomas Gibson and Shemar Moore I'm sure want to come back but they are in a position where if they don't get what they are seeking now, they never will. CBS will keeping jerking them around until the show, one day as all shows are, gets cancelled. If I were them, I would have the same attitude because they just simply cannot keep getting paid what they do for another year, 2 years, however long the contract may be. Tassler I'm sure will pay hard ball, and if she tries to jerk them again, I can't imagine that they will come back. I could be wrong about this, but like I said I think they both realize if they don't get what they are seeking now, they never will, and they will continue to get jerked. You can have love for a show and its crew, but you also have to look at your situation now and in the future. Maybe that is where both men are today. If Tassler tries to screw them over again and won't budge, I say they should both leave. Not that I want them too, that would be terrible, but I also don't want people sticking around to get further exploited.

Paget, who knows what will eventually happen with her. No matter what, I wish her all of the best. But she is another one who I think if gets a pilot picked up that I think should take it. This is very hard or me to say because I adore the Prentiss character and can't imagine tuning in and not seeing her there. However, she was basically treated like trash by the network, treated as if she could be recycled by what they are trying to shove down our throats today, the Seaver character. For her to come back, is for her to potentially place herself in the same position to get jerked. CBS offered her a contract for season 7, yeah, whatever, I think that is more of a public relations thing than them actually wanting her to stay. They are convinced, probably because Bernero told them, that the Seaver character will soon erase whatever memory anybody had of the Prentiss character (how very wrong this thinking is), so with that belief, they will just sit back and not really sweat if Paget comes back or not. Also, maybe Paget is sick of all the politics and drama that she has had to endure for the time she has been there, no raises, no appreciation, and in the end, a swift kick in the pants.

Once Paget leaves I can say almost certainly say that I will leave with her. I am not interested in seeing how the show will once again miserably attempt to make us forget a character with maybe another character that, oh my god, might be worse than Seaver. If that is possible, oh my god, that would be very bad. I am not referring to the characters of Prentiss and Rossi who I think were excellent replacements for the Gideon and Elle characters. As for Thomas Gibson and Shemar Moore, they should not back down from any of the things they may be asking for, not sure what that is exactly, but they should get what they asking for because they too will continue to get exploited if they don't get it now. If they agree to get low-balled again, the network will take that as a sign that they can continue to keep exploiting them. I do not blame Thomas Gibson or Shemar Moore if they walked instead of getting jerked again.

hells bells said...

Michael,

I agree with Jazz. Besides Seaver said how she grew up for the most part with a loving father who gave her almost everything and whatver she wanted. He rarely lost his temper with her. The whole dog thing is the only thing she had to say and...wasnt much help. It helped but not really. Alos, she hasnt brought anything new and I doubt she will.

ALso, I agree with wirting the letters and i also think we should send emails, itll save paper, there's a thing on the cbs website that I heard about and saw, feedback section or whatever. But what if she doesnt even open the letters?

I absolutely love Criminal Minds, it is the highlight of my week. The storylines are fantastic, and there just isn't any way I can credit the writers enough on such a brilliant programme. However, the loss of JJ made many fans weep, and the loss of Prentiss will do the same.

Unfortunately, no one (including myself) seems to like Ashley Seever, (she is out of place and epsodes with her in just miss the high standard of other episodes without her), and wish her to go as quickly as possible...

I believe it is Reid and Garcia that make the show what it is, but the loss of Hotch or Morgan will be too much. Losing so many important characters is sending the series downhill - fast! And that is something none of us want.

Ok, Criminal Minds Fan, will spread the word about the poll! Is the Shemar poll button okay though? When I first cam to vote, it said that his button wasn't available. I refreshed the page and it came up, but I just wanted to check that nothing was wrong with it. The Gibson button was ok, I voted on that one.

I've just been watching the spin-off. Ho-hum. There's just nothing compelling there for me, anyway. They're totally coping C.M. And since the cannibalization of Criminal Minds, there are now two shows that are less than stellar. I was a huge Criminal Minds fan, but lately things seem to be falling apart. Seaver is just not a believable character. And boring. Also, does anyone else find it really strange and kind of creepy to have Penelope Garcia on both shows? It just doesn't ring sincere that she would be as attached to the new profilers as she was to the last crew. Frankly, I'm kind of surprised she agreed to do it. I would have thought more of Kristin had she refused. It's just not working, gang. I sure hope this all changes. There's still time, and always hope. --- Joy

I dont even know where to begin! First of all, I hate the new girl, I hate the fact that JJ is gone and I hate the fact the Prentiss will be gone too...Why would CBS/Ed have to do this? I mean the show was working great, why destroy it? and come on, they got rid of Aj because of budget reasons? bull shit! The minute Prentiss leaves so will I! Even though I love the show and I like Reid, Hotch and LOVE Garcia I just cant stand the fact that CBS/Ed think we are idiots and destroyed a perfect cast. Oh and by the way..that new show is so stupid!!! I like Forest Whitaker, but I did not like the show, I watch for about 5 minutes and said forget this! lol

What is on my mind is that I do not want this new show taking out the old show! I would be so mad, I would personally track down the number and call CBS!! I would miss everyone on the cast!! What I really DONT GET is why all of the T.V. networks want to mess with good shows!!! Criminal Minds is an awesome show and JJ was the perfect addition! Then they took her out,....losing fans and viewers I might add. Then they made El look like a murderer when she shot that dude,...Eventually taking her out of the show,..while losing viewers and fans (I know that this was before JJ, but I kind of miss JJ more.)Anyway,...I just wanted to say that CBS should leave good shows the hell alone!!

Stop getting rid of the great characters on this show. The show is really deteriorating! Get some good writers back. Who's in charge here? You're ruining an excellent show. Not that anyone around CBS cares, but this show has had about 15 fantastic episodes in its 6 years. I know; I've saved them. But you guys seem bent on plunging this show into mediocrity, so much so, that it won't matter who you screw (get rid of) next. Nobody is going to watch. What a shame!

Love this season. Criminal Minds is back on track after what was, in my opinion, a pretty lacklustre season 5. Last time out the show was too focused on just one of the characters' concerns and it got thrown off balance. This time the storylines are stronger, full of energy and I'm loving the whole team. Kudos to the writers.

My one small complaint, there's probably not quite enough Rossi. Mantegna's a great ingredient -- let's have some more of him on the plate. Ditto Reid and Garcia. I know we'll all have different likes and dislikes and, as I said before, it's much better balanced than last year's Hotch Fest, so this is only the smallest of grumbles. (But, please, give us some more Rossi, all the same!)

nb I like the new character, not so much at this stage for herself as for the situations/different dynamic she brings. Good idea to keep the show moving in fresh directions. Having said that, the Seaver/Rossi relationship is vaguely reminiscent of the early Reid/Gideon relationship and that's probably a good theme to revive.

Last point, every time Strauss is there, it's good. Terrific actor. Great confrontations with the team. Would be fantastic to see more of her.

Thanks for a fantastic show.

UK viewer, I agree with you. I love this season. Criminal Minds is a fantastic show and the writers still manage to write strong story lines even after five and a half seasons.

Frankly, I'm not an expert on TV. I don't watch much of it to be honest because much of it is just such a poor source of entertainment. I do, however, watch Criminal Minds because of the excellent acting and writing.

Let's be honest, TV is a way to escape for a moment to another place and leave your worries at it's doorstep so to speak. That's why I can appreciate Criminal Minds - it can truly draw me in for an hour and let me think about what is going on in this other world. I can leave my worries about my nephew returning safely from Afghanistan and the poor economy, however briefly, and focus on a place where the bad guys are caught in an hour. It also reminds me that there are real people out there doing this very real and extremely difficult job, without the appreciation that the writers and actors get for drawing us into this fantasy.

I've seen all the CM actors playing other parts, in other shows and movies. Frankly, it surprises even me that I can believe for an hour that Thomas Gibson is "Hotch", and not associate him with Gregory Montgomery from Dharma and Greg. Hence why I watch the show. These actors are good at their job. They suspend my disbelief for an hour a week. Let's face it, Joe Mantegna even made Madonna look good in a movie. Now that's a man who's good at his job.

I've followed Thomas Gibson through most everything he's done, from Chicago Hope, to Greg Montgomery, to the "Monkey King" and now to Hotch and, quite frankly, he is probably the most underrated actor of this generation. He's really a brilliant actor because we can follow him so seamlessly and believably from character to character.

The charm of this show is in Mr. Gibson, Mr. Mantegna, Mr. Moore, Mr. Gubler, Ms. Vangness and Ms. Brewster and, alas, Ms. Cook. The ensemble works and, frankly, for CBS to want to mess with this fantastic mix is a little crazy and a lot selfish.

I watched the spin-off - Criminal Minds-Suspect Behavior - and I wanted to like it, but just couldn't. There is no chemistry with this cast, no history, no passion. Yes, maybe it takes times to develop these things, but I've watched Criminal Minds since the first episode and there was no growing into these parts. The cast fit seamlessly from the beginning, as if their backstory was already there. That doesn't come with time - it is magic made possible with good actors. Mr. Mantegna and Ms. Brewster simply melded into this world seamlessly. Truly a feat.

Do us a favor CBS - lay off the Criminal Minds cast. While I will follow these brilliant actors wherever their talent takes them, they would be smart to consider a different network next time. I for one, will follow them there.

I'm not an expert on TV by any means. Frankly, I don't watch much because so much of what's available is at best, a poor excuse for entertaingment and, at worst, a terrible waste of my time. I have a full time job and a small farm to run, along with a husband I adore and, frankly, all of that takes precedence to my TV schedule.

That said, I am an unashamed fan of Criminal Minds because, simply put, it is the smartest show on TV.

I have been a Thomas Gibson fan for years. Quite frankly, he's probably the most underrated actor of his generation. I've actually seen all the CM actors perform other roles in movies and TV. Joe Mantegna even made Madonna look good in a movie - that my friends, took some acting chops. But, that's the point isn't it? This cast is full of very talented actors. Combine that with the wonderful writing and wow - you have an incredible show.

Let's face it, TV is entertainment - a place to escape for an hour and leave our worries on it's doorstep so to speak. That is exactly why CM is such an appealing show. It can suspend my disbelief for an hour and pull me into a world where the bad guys are brought down in an hour. It also reminds us that there are real people out there doing this incredibly tough and selfless job who are unsung heroes in my book.

Were it not for the incredible acting of this cast, that suspension of disbelief would not be possible. I can actually believe, for an hour, that Thomas Gibson is Hotch and not remember that he was also Greg Montgomery, or the Monkey King for that matter.

If CBS is smart, it will leave this cast alone. The chemistry on this show doesn't occur very often. I watched the spinoff - Criminal Minds-Suspect Behavior - and I wanted to like it. Unfortunately, I really, really didn't. There was no chemistry, no passion, no believabilty. You might say it takes time to develop these attributes in a series, but I disagree. I have watched Criminal Minds from it's first episode and the characters flowed seamlessly - as if they had lived their backstory. It has only gotten better. Ms. Brewster and Mr. Mantegna flowed seamlessly into this mix, like we were waiting for them to sppear.

I will follow all of these actors wherever their talents lead them. If they are smart, hopefully it will lead them to a new network where we, their loyal fans will follow.

Well, call me silly, but I can't figure out why CBS is determimed to kill one of it's best shows. It would be one thing if cast members wanted to leave but I didn't get the impression that AJ Cook wanted to leave, and I don't think PB would leave if they didn't gut her part to practically nothing. I don't want to believe that they would get rid of Shemar or Thomas, but apparently nothing is beyond stupidity at CBS. If any more of the cast members are forced out I will definately stop watching. My fiance' bought the first five seasons on DVD for me so I will watch the reruns forever. Better that than watch them destroy the show any more than they already have. Very sad. They should take a lesson from the folks who make NCIS - keep your people happpy, produce a good quality program, appreciate the fact that your show has such devoted fans! I love all you ladies and gents on CM! Keep up the great work as long as they let you!

I am with everyone else here.
I haven't really been watching
Criminal Minds much since
A.J. Cook left the show. I
loved this show from the 1st
day it came on in 2005, but it's
just not the same anymore.
Now that Paget is leaving after
next week, i just don't know
any more. Now i hear that
Thomas Gibson and Shemar Moore
may not be back either.
What is going on here? I am
afraid to say it, but if Thomas
and Shemar don't come back, i
won't be watching either.
It's just not Criminal Minds
any more. I also think, that
there probably won't be a 7th
season. That's how it's looking
to me. How can you run an
organization with only 2 agents.
All that remains will be Rossi,
and Reid if Hotch and Morgan
are gone and Emily as well.
I don't know about the rest of
you, but i am not a happy camper
about this. They at CBS have
totally ruined the show that i
loved to watch every Wednesday
night.
