This year's Alumni Spotlight Award goes to Charles Robert Carner ('78, writer, director, producer for Witless Protection , Red Water , and The Fixer ). Famed Chicago actor Joe Mantegna (star of the TV series Criminal Minds as well as the films Witless Protection and The Godfather: Part III ) is scheduled to present.
To highlight the excellence of Columbia's Semester in L.A. program, we are granting two other awards: a Student of the Year Award to Samantha Garrison , and a Speaker of the Year Award to guest lecturer Zak Penn (screenwriter for The Incredible Hulk , X-Men: The Last Stand , X2 , Elektra ).
