Fedra, I'm not even referring to that thread in particular. The theads have been nothing short of ridiculous for weeks. There's been so much and anger and venom over something that really isn't worthy of so much passion IMO and it has spoiled the experience for the fans who just want to discuss the episodes and I doubt this thread will be any different.

My favorite Prentiss Moments:

1. When she says "Oh...this is really going to suck!" in 52-Pick-up.

2. When she grinned at Hotch giving Morgan a taste of his own medicine in The Eyes Have It.

3. When she poked the side of Reid's face and said "He looks so life-like" in The Angel Maker.

4. When she addressed Reid's abandonment issues with him in Scared to Death.

5. When she let Hotch know he wasn't alone in Haunted.

I'm in CheetoBreath!!

My fave Emily moments:

Jordan and Viper and Emily in 52 pickup,
the opening and closing scenes in Sense Memory,
Emily's first and second scenes in The last word, basically her first two scenes ever,
when Hotch confronted Emily about the congresswoman in Sex, Birth and Death,
Emily telling Rossi the team cares becuase he does in Damaged,
Emily and Reid's hug in minimal loss,
Emily telling the guys that she can take it in same ep, taking it for Reid basically,
so many moments and not enough space!
btw, LaShawna, I just heard the interview with MGG and wow, I am stunned, I feel like my hopes are up now but I cant expect too much considering its CBS and Nina Tassler! But I have my fingers crossed!

sf81387 said...

Well Hotch did tell JJ he wasn't filing the position because he was hoping he could get her back. : )

Cindy said...

No sf81837.. no spoilers, LOL LOL :)

Optika said...

Yes but now I'm afraid, what if Paget doesnt come back and we're still stuck with Seaver? Ugh...ok I am just going to wait it out now.

heyya said...

Hehe..I'm giggling like a little girl after listening to that interview! I react the same way every time I read or see or hear any of MGG's interviews. He's awesome. However, I'm still not going to get my hopes up. Nope Nina is a horrible witch and
I just found another MGG interview. It's quite an interesting read:

When she says " I have the magic ingredient. It's called Splenda".

I loved the sarcasm, wit, and humour she brought to the show.
Paget/Prentiss will be dearly missed.

CheetoBreath said...

*feeds Cindy cookies* lol

sf81387 and Optika, those are some great Emily moments!

I can't wait to watch the episode. Though PB's possible departure makes it sad, it sounds like it's going to be an episode along the lines of 100 which would make it great IMO.

Thank you to the entire cast and crew who worked so hard on it.

heyya said...

His comments about the changes in the show scare me a bit :(

Optika said...

When did she say that? What ep? About the Splenda Bittersweet?

Cindy said...

Which comments heyya?

Cindy said...

Are you referring to the radio interview, or an article?

Optika said...

When was it siad that the secret ingredient is Splenda?

heyya said...

In the link to an interview I posted above :)
The splenda line is from "Cold Comfort" right? Gosh I feel like a CM
encyclopaedia :p

Cindy said...

Oh, going to check that out, must have missed it.

Pat said...

Since I am a huge Reid fan my favorite moments with Emily would revolve around him.

1) When he was having his problems after Revelations and was taking everything out on her, she was understanding.

2) I loved her talk with Reid in Scared to death when she told him to reread the letter. It seemed out of all the people that had been with him for so long, she was the one that approached him about his feelings about Gideon leaving.

3) I loved in Minimal Loss when she and Reid hugged at the end and she spoke to him in the plane, telling him it wasn't his fault and she'd do it again.

4) Who can forget her missing out on her sin to win weekend and her, "And I always win big." And Morgan asking her what it was and her blowing him off with "If you have to ask..."

5) I loved that she refused to be Strauss' pawn and give up infor on the team.

There are so many more but those are the only ones off the top of my head. I'll miss her wit.

Cindy, the eonline one. watch with kristin.

To Optika:
I believe the episode is "Cold Comfort" when Garcia is reading her horoscope. :)
The list of the amazing scenes with Prentiss could go on and on.
Hopefully she does come back next season
Have no idea what to expect for tonight's episode. Never in my life have I felt this much anticipation for a show, and I don't think I'll feel this way again, unfortunately.

Cindy said...

Thanks! Going to check it out now.

Cindy said...

heyya, do you mean the part where he talks about season 7?

heyya said...

Yeah that part. I really don't like the "there could be more changes" part :(

Cindy said...

Did you listen to the radio interview? Don't want to give it away so that people could hear it for themselves. But maybe that is what he was referring to, at least I hope so.....

heyya said...

I heard 3 separate radio interviews. 2 yesterday and one today. I hope it is those sorts of changes he is referring to. I really do, although I doubt it because he talked about contracts being up and such. We'll just have to wait and see :)

Cindy said...

I think there is a higher possibility of one versus the other.

Optika, you never know, that may cancel out what you (and me too)are worried about. Let's see since like you said this is CBS and Tassler we are talking about here, ugh...

Have to get on my Emily Prentiss moments :) I really hope she comes back, will support her in anything, but really want her back on CM :(

So nervous to watch this episode tonight.

Cindy said...

Oh, didn't hear a contract one. Was he referring to himself or the whole TG, SM thing?

LaShawna said...

More Emily scenes I love:

1. The bar scene in "Open Season" with Brad, a "real FBI agent".
2. Emily's look in high school and her inability to remember it (Tabula Rasa I believe?).
3. Emily trying to explain JJ's song to Reid at the end of "Damaged".
4. I liked Emily's conversation with Rossi in "Demonology", though I HATE that episode.
5. Emily's scenes in "Sense Memory" were great.
6. Emily holding JJ's hand while Penelope was in surgery after being shot in "Penelope".
7. Emily asking Reid if he ever thought about having baby geniuses in "Catching Out".
8. Emily's hungover reaction in Vegas in "Memoriaum".
9. Emily profiling the NYPD cop in "Lo-Fi".
10. Emily and Reid discussing chocolate and peas in "No Way Out."
11. Emily showing her fluency in Arabic in "Lessons Learned" and earning the respect of the team.

Optika said...

what happened to Sean McCallister? He has never been seen again. Is he in tonights ep? What about Erin Strauss?

heyya said...

I think it's in the eonline article. Between today and tomorrow I've read and heard so many separate interviews its all jumbled in my head now. Anyways, I have to sign off now. It was nice talking to all of you :)

lauren j. said...

"on the precipice of either becoming great or not"?

what the heck does MGG mean by that?

Cindy said...

I know Lauren J.. that does sound ominous.

I hope there are no more crazy changes, although with everything that has happened so far, Crazy seems like the "C" in CM :(

BAU1919 said...

i don't know why but one of my favorite Emily moments was when she was all PMS-y at the beginning of one of the episodes and flipped Garcia and Kevin off hahahaaa

Seriously makes me LOL every time.

Cindy said...

BAU1919, classic moment.. although I don't think she was PMS-y, LOL

Can't wait to see how your theory holds up tonight :)

BAU1919 said...

ALSO...Wasn't a fan of Demonology as a whole. BUT the very end, where the rain turns to snow and she's talking to Rossi, then walks to the church...

quite possibly my favorite scene ever. The snow was so pretty contrasted with her dressed in all black, the music, the symbolism in her nose bleeding. ahhh im making myself sad now.

Funny how the quote at the end of the episode was Prentiss saying in reference to her friend: "I think he died for me" when the whole premiss of this is her on a 'suicide mission' to protect the team/family.

Oh man, Emily/Paget...You will be missed.

I am a communications major in Canada, at a Candaian university. Anyway, just wanted to copy and paste this from my professor's notes becuase it seemed interesting and I thought that maybe it would offer some insisght to some people.
Here it is...

The way that we understand and analyze things like movies, music, or literature, therefore, comes not from some voice in our heads, but from the collected insights formed in the course of our lives and then applied to the activity of making sense of things. This process—the process of sense-making or interpretation—is one that is central to determining who we are. Consequently, when someone says that something is “just your opinion” they may well be offering an insufficient and even naïve kind of criticism.

I cant remember my prof's name. Sorry.

Dearie me, that radio interview with MGG has gotten me all giddy with excitement. Although I'm trying desperately to not get my hopes up. I really hope that the 'changes' he talked about in the other interview relate to what was said in the radio interview.

As for my favourite Emily moments, as a Reid fan first and foremost, my favourite Emily moments tend to also involve Reid.

- The hug in Minimal Loss and their conversation on the plane afterwards.

- The 'He's so lifelike' scene.

- The star puzzle scene.

- The scene where she talked to Reid about Gideon's letter.

- Her conversation about peas and chocolate in No Way Out.

- Her phonecall with Reid at the end of Sense Memory.

- Being hungover in Memoriam.

- Her 'Don't Emily me' moment with Rossi in Amplification.

BAU1919 said...

MGG's interviews lately have been interesting.

He keeps mentioning how they've all 'given it the college try' and how change isn't necessarily a bad thing.

The fact that he mentioned the fact that contracts are up has me wondering if there have been talks on set about moving on. I have a feeling that if the cast and show wasn't so messed with this year, there would be no question that they all want to keep going.

Maybe there is a possibility that they will try and bring both Emily and JJ back next year, and if that were the case, I'm sure TG and Shemar would renew their contract. But I have a feeling they know they are on a sinking ship. The cast is flooded on twitter everyday with fans complaining. They know people are losing interest.

I think the future of this show is up in the air right now. And MGG seems to be hinting that people are ready to move on.

Fedra said...

BAU1919, what interview is that?

BAU1919 said...

im not sure what article, there have been so many in the past couple days. sorry. But he's kinda hinted at 'change' in a few of them

Susan said...

The saddest thing about this whole situation is before they were so messed with there wasn't this air of uncertainity or of seeming to want to move on. It seemed like a place that they were thriving at then, boom, here comes Tassler, Bernero and the spin-off crew and everything got shot to hell. They really took unnecessary hits for the sake of the spin-off which Ms. Tassler so kindly clued people into at TCA. That does something to the morale of the people left in the ashes and dust of that sort of blow. Where we were upset about AJ, and are now we are upset about Paget, I can't imagine what it must be like for them. They really didn't deserve this.

lauren j. said...

BAU1919, I disagree with your interpretation. MGG has said in other interviews that he felt like he won the lottery with this show and he would love to continue on.

And I think the idea that "people are losing interest" is just not true. The ratings recently have been very good.

Fedra said...

Oh crap.. change for season 7, or just change in general? I know his contract is up at the end of season 7. I wonder if he is hinting at TG and/or SM.

Susan said...

The ratings are good now, and I think they will remain good, but I think maybe there is this feeling that people may lose interest with yet another cast change. Some shows, not all, lose some of their fanbase with the loss of multiple characters in such a short period of time. Don't know if that will be the case here, maybe not, probably not, but that is something that may be of a concern to the show, the network, and the cast.

Optika said...

i think that everyone in the cast was fine up until AJ and paget were let go. I remember paget being quoted as a how she didnt want to be anywhere else but on CM before the whole mess happened. I think now, everyone is rethinking thier contract options becuase of it all otherwise they would keep going on. The cast strongly vocalized that they missed AJ and that they didnt even want to think about Paget leaving but now...only time will tell. And perhaps, the ratings for tonight.

BAU1919 said...

Lauren, I get that. I think that MGG thinks there may be a slight chance that the whole BAU, including JJ and Prentiss, come back next year.

BUT he also basically said things are up in the air because contracts are up and Paget's situation won't even be resolved until fall.

Shemar has proved that he is more than just a pretty-faced soap star, and he's expressed interest in a movie career.

Thomas has little kids at home in Texas who he only gets to see on the weekends.

I'm not saying they aren't going to renew their contracts, I'm just saying CM is a big committment especially if they don't agree with the road the show is taking these days. Again, I don't think this would even be an issue if the REAL cast was still intact.

Ratings have been decent, and I am sure they will be through the roof tonight, because people are curious and excited to see how Prentiss is written out, as well as JJ's return. But can they remain that way after Prentiss is gone? I don't know...losing two main characters in one season is a lot.

lauren j. said...

I am sure the ratings will go down from this episode to the next one, but by "down" I mean "back to normal" after the spike that this dramatic Prentiss storyline has sparked. Nothing to do but wait and see, but ratings would have to seriously decline to even consider canceling this show.

Good news though: My CBS reception is coming in clear tonight! (sometimes it's awful/non-existent)

gubegirl said...

Fave Prentiss moments: aside from all the great ones mentioned with Reid, my personal fave, and the one with Strauss where she so effectively tells her to F--- --- by only saying "Ma'am?! I loved her profiling the NYPD cop in "lo-Fi"-totally winning him over after he expressed such skepticism.

But one of the best was when she told Hotch that she (Emily) "could take her", referring to a young girl who had just become orphaned in a case they were working with parent-family killers. Hotch explained they had contacted her aunt who was coming for her. Hotch saw the look of disappointment on Emily's face and commented on her emotional involvement and stated, "I need to know that you can do your job. and Emily, OUR Emily, responded, "and I need to know I'm human."

That says it all - we love you Emily - you are the best!

Wait a minute!! Did Prentiss just kill someoen????????

Cindy said...

cmwinner, I hope not. I don't think so, that guy looks like the one that Rossi questions with Reid in one of the promo pics

AJ/Paget fan said...

OMG!!!!!!!! MGG was right! This ep is going to be EPIC!
JJ looks so pretty! Hotch has a smiling face on prentiss's iphone and yeah...wtf? She shot someone? She used to be a spy?

Cindy said...

It is so good to see JJ.

Bring her back!!!

Loren said...

Hola!!

So, 20 minutes in and it's okay. Some good moments, using JJ very little thus far but I don't expect to see too much of the rest of the team anyway.

Still open.

Cindy said...

Hola Loren!

Tia said...

They need to show more of JJ.

Loren said...

Ugh, why couldn't the bullet have hit her?

Why is she getting so much and JJ is getting nothing. This is highly upsetting.

And Paget is doing a great job and Rossi and Hotch have had some good moments. I've missed Hotch.

Anonymous said...

Why are they wasting screen time with Seaver thinking she knows how to deal with Narcissists? Why? And we need more Emily and JJ and Hotch!
Stupid Seaver! She's ruining it for me! More Emily going Sarah Connor on everyone!

Optika said...

Loved Emily throwing the grenade and going all army military woman on Doyle's team!

NumberOneMGGfan said...

Im writing this during the commercial after they shot the guy (forget his name must be quick lol) and got spatter over seaver, 2 point i would like to say...

1) REID IS SOOO NOT A BEANPOLE!!!!!!

2) why DIDN'T they shoot seaver!?!?!?

Tia said...

Why is this the Seaver show?????

This is Prentiss' last episode

Loren said...

Ugh NOOOOO!!!! Seaver is not going go to be the savior!!!

Ugh this is depressing.

Thank God I see JJ now.

Ward said...

Okay, so you're telling me that Rossi, one of the BAU OG's would need the help of Seaver because they need fresh eyes or some crap like that... Wow.....

Ward said...

Plus, they are making Prentiss look like.. aw man, what the hell...

Raven said...

The best profiling minds in the world looking at a cadet to save Prentiss...unbelievable!

Faye said...

Damn, this is ridiculous... But I knew they were going to try and make Seaver some hero. And exactly why in the hell haven't they shown any JJ, or barely at all, damn!

Ticked said...

WTF?!?!?!? That leaves no way for her to come back. This show is so f'd up

Loren said...

Hmmm didn't see that one coming.

And... there's the sound of many viewers going right out the window.

I'm staying but I don't blame those who aren't.

Marissa said...

Some freaking cadet supposedly saving the day, Prentiss gone, hardly no JJ in the episode...

I'm done with Criminal Minds!

What happened with Prentiss? Is she dead? Damn i wish i was in the USA, can't watch it in the Netherlands, please tell me, aaarh I;m going crazy here!

OMFG!!!!!!!!! BEST EPISODE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 I just spent 5 minutes crying in hysterics to find out shes ALIVE!!!!!!!!!OMG IM SOOOO HAPPY!!!!!!!! MATTHEW MADE ME START WITH THE HYSTERICS BUT I BEGAN TO CRY WHEN DOYLE STABBED HER!!!! BUT OMG WHEN REID STARTED TO CRY I ABSOLUTLY L.O.S.T IT!!!!!!

Cindy said...

No, they faked her death. But it seems like only JJ and Hotch know that she is really alive.

Oh thank gooood!
Thanks for the info everyone, now I can finally sleep haha
Gonna watch it online tomorrow, but have to mentally prepare myself:p Prolly gonna cry and yell at the screen (thank god I'm anonymous here haha)

Cindy said...

Holy crap good, or holy crap bad BAU1919, :)

Anonymous said...

We all knew she wasn't dead. JJ mouthed "She made it." to Hotch, if you all weren't aware. Plus, they wouldn't kill her; not with Doyle still on the loose.

LISA said...

OMG i cant believe poor Emily! i am sad to see her go.. This show never fails with keeping you on the edge of your seat... Way to go Criminal Minds..! love you Hotch!

Tia said...

Yeah, they said they were going to leave it open should she want to return for season 7.

Can'tSpell, DVM said...

Wow, what a great episode! I'll miss Prentiss if Paget decides not to come back, but what a way to go out!

Optika said...

The episdoe could have been so much better! But i knew that JJ was going to tie in to fake Emily's death. Leaving room open in a predictable but assuring way. Loved the scene in France at the end between JJ and EMily in a wig from the behind. They looked so chic! Loved Ried's moment with JJ at the end, we finally got a "Spence". Paget Brewster was awesome in the screentime she did get! Doyle kicking Emily's ass was heartbreaking but the way she took it... Finally Hotch got some more semblance back to himself.
Wtf was Rossi thinking asking Seaver about fresh eyes and stuff? SHe did not save the day. Doyle wanting revenge on Prentiss is classic and obvious and Seaver was such a waste of time! I hate Seaver!
MGG did a great job of directing but this ep was still dissapointing because of the way it was written. The trailer was more exciting! Emily did not really get the justice she deserved and now we may never know. Damnit!
I am curious to find out about Hotch being in on with JJ and Emily about Emily's death. He had to walk away from it all. I need to watch the episode again. I am so angry and dissapointed but at least there is the option of Emily returning!
I am wiritng to CBS!

lauren j. said...

Even if Prentiss doesn't come back, now they've got Doyle as the new major arch-nemesis.

Anonymous said...

What is Clyde Easter's secret role in the episode? Why was he hesitant on giving BAU any information?

BAU1919 said...

Cindy, HOLY CRAP meaning HOLY CRAP! haha oh my God that was intense. It was SOO GOOD but I just hate that the team thinks she is dead :(

So happy she's alive. The funeral was a little rushed though, where was chief strauss, and Emily's mom?? Usually fallen agents have pretty huge funerals!

And how the eff can they just let the poor team think she's dead?!

I just wanted to give Emily a hug everytime she cried tonight :( She's usually so tough I don't like seeing any of them cry :(

Viola said...

My question is, which doesn't matter now because I know the agenda behind it, why after the Reaper case when they were all close, the team got together and didn't need "fresh eyes" but all of the sudden they need "fresh eyes?"

Paget hope you come back and you bring JJ with you, please

Anonymous said...

Stunning and touching. Bravo. Congratulations to everyone and special kudos to Paget and Matthew.
As an aside,I really think JJ told Hotch in that last scene between them. Hope still springs eternal to see all the family in Season 7.

BAU1919 said...

AJ/Pagetfan, I think you are right. At least Paget will probably be back for an episode if not more. I seriously don't think they could just go on with the team thinking she's dead forever.

I am thinking maybe the season finale is going to explore this storyline again. Maybe the team will catch Doyle and they'll be able to tell the team about Emily.

Fish said...

I want Emily back.

Anonymous said...

EVERYONE BOMBARD CBS WITH REQUESTS TO BEG AJ AND PAGET TO COME BACK AND FOR THE OLD WRITERS TO COME BACK AND FIX THIS SHOW AND SAVE THE CHARACTERS AND BOOT SEAVER OUT THE DOOR!
WRITE CBS!

Viola said...

I meant AJ.. always got that messed up AJ and JJ :)

Cindy said...

Me too Fish :(

Optika said...

I was hoping for a hug between Hotch and JJ becuase they're great together and JJ was there for Reid and... words cannot express my grief right now!
I think the writers may have succeeded in getting many to dislike Seaver even more with her "fresh eyes'' bad writing bit and the screen time she got that should have been Paget's or JJ's or Hotch's.

Anonymous said...

im still confused as to what Clyde Easter's hidden agenda was and why he didnt want to give the BAU any info??? Could someone elaborate?

Betty said...

Too much damn Seaver time with the breakthough fresh eyes crap.. hardly no JJ, no Hotch and Prentiss, no real JJ with Prentiss, WTF!!!

Favorite Emily moments:
The famous splenda moment when Garcia was talking about zodiac signs.

When she and Morgan were discussing Kilgore Trout.

In season 5 when she was there for Hotch, and when she mocked him for tackling like Morgan. As well as her speech about politics.

When Garcia, JJ, and Emily had girls nights, and when she was there for JJ during Hankel and Garcia's shooting.

When she and Rossi discussed her past and when she profiled him during the time when the team went to solve Rossi's ghost. And the famous "Don't Emily me" line

All the plane interactions with Reid. And in the bullpen with Reid and Morgan.

Whenever they went to bars, like when she was with Hailey and Hotch.

Whenever she said sir or ma'am when Hotch or Strauss were being nasty. (In Hotch's case it was only once)

When she helped out Reid after Gideon left.

Minimal Loss. The hug and "I can take it"

52 pick-up. "This is Viper, god's gift to women"

Her famous compartmentalization line. I guess now we know how she learned that.

"He's so life-like"

Baby Genius' discussion

Seven Seconds when she questioned the aunt

Chocolate and Peas

And who can forget her beating Reid in cards?

I just loved her jokes and everything that made her Emily Prentiss.

BamaGirl said...

My Mom came up with the greatest comment for the night...we were discussing how we knew Emily was a really together character with a load of strenghth, but we had no idea she was such a bada** --- Mom wants to see Prentiss show up on NCIS and team up with Ziva to kick butt!!!

Karen said...

I want paget and aj back too! but i think it may be harder than just bombarding cbs with requests. because paget and aj have to decide to come back. plus if paget's nbc show gets picked up i doubt she'll come back. but i seriously hope i'm wrong. i want her back. and aj. and seaver gone. that is all.

Anonymous said...

JJ seemed like a way stronger character than she's ever been in the past. Now that she's not a BAU subordinate she seemed to have a lot more confidence. I liked it.

Thought Seaver seemed a lot stronger too, and I think she'll be a more assertive character from now on now that she was sort of forced to step up.

LOVED Garcia's voicemail! Fantastic. Best part of the episode.

Morgan's anger seemed appropriate. Wish we would have seen a bit more Hotch and Reid, although I suppose MGG was busy with the directing.

Doyle will now be the team's arch-nemesis. So I think we can expect to see him again whether or not Prentiss returns.

Great eppy. Left room for a lot of interesting future possibilities.

Raven said...

OMG my first reaction Paget was brilliant and I loved her storyline but the rest (except there were a few moments) wasnt very good. The one episode where Seaver should have stayed in the background and not say a word and JJ shine and it was just the opposite. Trying to make Seaver (who in my opinion was a replacement for both JJ and Prentiss) the hero in the most gut wrenching episode was just wrong! No real emotion from Hotch. The Seaver/Rossi part was so contrived to make us like Seaver and it didnt work at all. All I could think of was Mighty Mouse to come save the day! I loved the tender moment of Garcia's phone call -- made me cry. I also loved the tender but oh so Morgan reaction. Rossi was just an instrument to help build up Seaver. Not nearly enough JJ and just a few (but definately one of the best moments when he hugged jj) Reid.... I expected so much more and yes I am disappointed!

JJFan18 said...

quite possibly one of the best criminal minds episodes of all time! Paget was fantasticly amazing! She was totally badass! And I absolutely loved AJ's part in the ep...her role at end was great and very "spook" like. lol I really really wish CBS would wake the f*ck up and bring BOTH ladies back. the show is not the same w/o them and both proved why Seaver is just not them and just not a fit for this show and team. Gonna miss Paget and still AJ...my best to both ladies especially Paget as she begins her next project.

Anonymous said...

you guys, not EVERY Seaver scene is "contrived to make us like her!"

you are letting your nit-picking get in the way of a great episode!

Anonymous said...

Loved the episode! "Lauren" was absolutely amazing! Paget is such a fantastic actress. Hopefully she does decide to come back. I hope I wasn't the only one that started crying when Emily "died"? OMG that moment is now officially one of the saddest I can think of in tv history!

BAU1919 said...

Well, Criminal Minds...It's been a pretty great 6 years. But I don't think there is any coming back after tonight. Amazing episode! But unless Paget and/or AJ are back next year, I just don't see any way this show could get any better.

This show peaked tonight. AMAZING performaces by everyone, especially Paget Brewster.

WOW...just WOW.

Lydia said...

God, I am pissed off right now. Instead of this being Prentiss, and yes JJ, it was this whole damn set-up for people to think that Seaver is this freaking genius or something, the go to person because the rest of the team needs to oil their squeaky eyes. If they wanted to push this Super Seaver ploy, couldn't they have done it in another episode. I wanted to see Prentiss, which yes they showed her, but I was dying to see JJ. Why couldn't they have pushed that in another episode, not this one, not this one.. damn it!

There were other parts, but right now I am pissed that one of the last times we will see Prentiss and JJ was wasted in my view.

Lydia said...

It was contrived Anonymous.. God was it contrived.. even down to the "You want me to hold your hand"

Paget, you are an outstanding actress, outstanding!!

Anonymous said...

Lydia,

The episode was about Prentiss, not JJ. JJ already had her exit episode. Seaver had like 5 total minutes of screen time, and JJ played a major role at the end, so I'm not sure what you're so mad about...

Lydia said...

No, the one who had maybe 5 minutes was JJ. Yes, the episode was about Prentiss, but the big build up was that JJ was coming back and I think I and maybe a lot of other people were expecting to see more screen time with JJ as this will be the last time for her and most likely Prentiss.

So yeah, I'm pissed.. I'm PISSED

Anonymous said...

I mean...Prentiss had almost all the screen time so of course JJ wasn't in the entire episode. But she did play the central role in the final 2 scenes, so I think that was pretty important.

Raven said...

Thank you Lydia...I was beginning to think it was just me who felt this way...I really hated how they "used" this episode to build up Seaver. A freakin cadet knows more than the elite BAU...just horrible! This was the time for the "family cast" to shine and they wasted too much time trying to promote Seaver.

Lydia said...

That is true.. Prentiss was in it, no doubt. She did an outstanding job. But they way they built it up during all the promos, interviews, etc.. JJ is coming back like she was going to play a key role and flatline... Yes, she was there but not they way they made it seem and again since this will be her last time on the show I wanted more time with JJ, not all, but more than what she got.

Optika said...

Lydia, JJ Fan 18 and Raven, agree with every word that you said.
Paget and AJ were both brilliant in all their scenes and really handled everything so well.
Starting to lose respect for Rossi because of the whole Seaver thing.
The only moment between JJ and Emily was at the end and unfortuantely we didnt get to see Emily's face but it was a badass moment for JJ.
I think Doyle's son will show up in season 7 along with Doyle and i think that Hotch will end up breaking his oath. The peisode was epic but... Morgon did deep cover like he said in Natural Born Killers so he should know some spy tricks. He said how Emily knew all their tricks but they know none of hers. Great line but the writers must work on their consistency on the show. paget was amazing and we are not nitpicking about Seaver, its there and we are critical and analytical thinkers and we dont like to be treated stupidly or have our intelligence dumbed down for one contrived characters' sake who does not belong on the show.
Glad that JJ did not approve of Seaver though. I think they did that on purpose, giving Aj a stand alone scene with Rachel Nichols would have been insluting to AJ.
I miss Emily and JJ so much but I am so glad that JJ came through for Emily in a major way and at least hers was the last face we got to see in the ep. disspointed that Htoch and JJ didnt hug though.
Prentiss and JJ xxxoooxoxox

Anonymous said...

I gotta say this to everyone complaining about Seaver.
She had one important scene.
She is now a permanent part of this show.
She isn't going anywhere.
Paget is probably never coming back.
AJ coming back is a loooong shot
This is the show now. This isn't seasons 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5.

Plus, with everything that happened this episode, people are really focusing on one Seaver scene?

I loved it.
Got my JJ fix, Paget was brilliant and so was Shemar.
Great send off.

Now what, show?

Anna

I am on other boards as I am on this one and we are not alone in that sentiment Raven. I'm not saying that is representative of everyone, of course I can't say that, but that is what I have been seeing.

Anonymous said...

One of these days I am going to time the amount of screen time Seaver has and you all will see that it is WAY less than you think it is. You are so FOCUSED on her that it is consuming you!

It was important for Seaver to have a strong profiling scene in this episode as a transition because she will have to start moving out of the background now that Prentiss is gone.

First, you guys complain that she is "useless" and "doesn't do anything" and "asks too many dumb questions," then when she finally does something useful you complain that it's "contrived!"

Kirsten said...

I did like the episode and felt that they did Prentiss justice if this is indeed to be her last CM episode. (I hope not!) Paget was absolutely tremendous and if she doesn't return, I wish her all the best and will watch her next projects for sure! CM will not be CM without Agent Prentiss. :(

MGG did a good job directing and the team all had great performances. Loved Garcia's voicemail to Emily, but wish JJ & Hotch had a hug at the end. Geez.

Sorry Breen, but not enough HOTCH! WTH?! I am thanking my lucky stars that TG is so good that his presence is felt even with limited time; he was awesome.

Well-written, directed and acted... a great great episode, thank you CM!

Optika said...

I agree that they should have left Seaver out of this entirely. They should not have used paget's last episde to build up Seaver, and again by doing something that was so obvious and should have been figured out and was basically covered by JJ in the briefing, Doyle wants revenge on the woman who betrayed him. That is not fresh eyes, that is again stating the obvious but this time, in a dramitc way and I dont like how Rossi is basically just a tool now to help Seaver.
No, bring back JJ and Emily and yes, I am pissed that JJ didnt get enough screen time either.

Anonymous said...

This was a tragedy of epic proportions.

Toss Seaver. NOW.

Anya said...

Nope Anonymous, not focusing on it at all because as of tonight I am done with Criminal Minds and their Super Cadet Seaver and OOC character writing for Rossi as needing to get help from a cadet which is BS because they all were close during the Reaper case and had no issues with their eyes back then.

Paget, going to miss you!!

AJ/Paget fan said...

It was contrived anonymous. Seaver is a Mary Sue, Clarice Starling dumbass ripoff character played by a less than stellar actress but Seaver is no match for the amazing Prentiss and wonderful JJ. Her "standout" scene wasnt needed becuase it was obvious that Doyle wanted revenge on Emily becuase Emily betrayed him

Anonymous said...

AJ/Paget fan,

But what wasn't obvious was why Doyle killed the little boy. The boy was the key to the whole thing.

None of the other team realized it because they were so focused on Prentiss.

It wasn't any more contrived than any of the other profiling the team usually does.

So let me ask you this then Anonymous, if Super Cadet Seaver wasn't there with her fresh eyes that Rossi deemed so important to figuring out a key element of the case, how would they have figured it out? Because clearly they are now so incompetent, or maybe have an eye condiion, that they need a cadet to help them though.

lauren j. said...

I personally think the most "contrived" thing was how Doyle escaped... there was SWAT and FBI surrounding that building.

I know it'll be interesting for future episodes, but I mean really...

Laura said...

Damn it, CM.
You missed an absolutely wonderful opportunity to shoot Seaver.
Why waste it?

Bye Emily, I really don't see you coming back after this. So bye. Hope you and JJ had a blast in Paris.

Anya said...

Lauren J. that was pretty contrived...

Anonymous said...

Anya,

It wasn't about the team being incompetent, it was just that they were so absorbed in Prentiss and her relationship to Doyle, that they failed to see any other details.

It also wasn't about Seaver being a "cadet," but just the fact that she wasn't so caught up in "how Prentiss could do this" that she was able to see something else that didn't make sense besides the whole Prentiss thing.

Laura said...

I think Seaver's POV goes back, to Rossi in Penelope.

I'm not saying it was good or bad, just that reminded me of that.

I really don't care, I've learned to tune out Seaver.

I hope I can do that from now on without Prentiss around.

Anya said...

Anonymous.. did you watch the whole Reaper story.. how more involved could they all have been than that and they all got together, with their eyes intact, and solved that one. No Super Cadet needed..

My thing is that they are making these veterans, elite specialized unit look like bafoons because alll of the sudden they can't get through cases without a cadet and her eyes. It is pathetic.

JJFan18 said...

Because I couldn't help myself and felt it would make me feel better I left some feedback on CBS's website...here is what I wrote to them......

"After tonight's amazing episode of Criminal Minds one is left scratching their head as to why you as a network would ruin such a great show. The loss of Paget Brewster and AJ Cook is and always will be a travesty. Bringing back one or the other will not make it better...both ladies need to be brought back in order for the puzzle to be complete. An amazing show on the rise was ripped apart for what? Charlie Sheen? A spin off? there was no reason to hurt such a great show...none at all. And again after tonight's amazing episode with the cast that made the show the ratings winner it is a loyal fan is left pondering the eternal question, "why?"

Norhing short of bringing back both ladies will make this right in the eyes of the loyal fans who have watched when critics said it wouldn't survive or when you wanted to drop another actor 2 years ago. If your situation with Adam Rodriguez and CSI Miami has tought you anything it is to not mess with success and never ever piss off your fan base.

Please make it right and bring back both Paget Brewster and AJ Cook. Something tells me you won't get Paget back without AJ. Which is a testimate to how close the cast it. Which by the way absolutely translates on screen. You can't buy that type of chemistry...but YOU can obviously destroy it."

Lauren J,
yes Doyle escaping a surroundied building was contrived lol and should have been impossible but hey, it happened in 24.
Also, they knew it was personal becuase it was mentioned in Valhalla that killing the boy was personal and he could have been spared. Hotch should have noticed it if anything at all becuase he's a father of a young boy, or even JJ if she was given more screen time.

It doesnt fit for the show or the characters. Its really the writers who are at fault and Seaver is the embodiment of poor writing but then again, Bernero left them in this mess apparently to take care of his crappy spinoff.
Bottom line, Seaver will continue to scuk as she always has and Emily and JJ wil continue to rock and Hotch needs more screen time.
MGG was wicked amazing at directing this epsiode!

Anonymous said...

Fair enough, Anya.

The way I saw it was this:

The team felt much more bewildered and betrayed by Prentiss than with Hotch and the Reaper. Rossi could tell that there was something bothering Seaver that perhaps she was afraid to speak up about. So he bullied it out of her. If you want to call it contrived, fine. I thought it was a good way to, for lack of a better term, pop her profiling cherry.

Anya said...

Eeks Anonymous, I don't want that visual, LOL LOL

Laura said...

I meant, the way that, back in Penelope, Rossi was still not that attached to the team so much as now, so he was the only one to step up and yell at Garcia and get the info out of her.
And in Lauren, Seaver is not focused only on Emily's safety, so her mind can wonder back to the kid's murder and question that.

Random, I know, but just something that I thought about it while watching this episode.

Yeah sorry, Anya. Couldn't think of a better term for it :)

I don't want Prentiss to be gone forever and as a cockeyed optimist refuse to believe she is.

Everyone in the episode was just brilliant - especially Paget. And Matthew Gray Gubler doesn't just play a genius on TV!

Like I said, more detailed tomorrow. Now I must sleep. :p

For Paget and AJ and their characters Emily and JJ I dedicate the song Portrait in Black by Atreyu from the underworld soundtrack becuase of the line, can you feel her running through your vains? She will always be there forever.
They are awesome and will be missed and always wanted and more than welcome because they are the true ladies of the BAU.

Helen P. said...

Favorite line.. "I haven't read all of the books yet" Seaver... Come on! These profilers need this.... Rossi practically write the textbooks!

Click me in with the whole contrived Rossi and the "new and improved" Super Seaver. First, the sympathy ploys, now the "Oh, she's a saviour." I'm officially done with that character and there will be nothing that you can whip up next that will make me "warm up" to her as others have used the term. It is just sad how she is now the grand wizard and the veteran profilers are just there in need of an eye exam.

Anyway, now that I got that frustration out of the way. It seems to me that JJ and Hotch now that Emily is alive, at the very minimum JJ does, so I wonder will this come up again in another context. Maybe season finale? When and if the team finds out that this was all staged, how are they going to take it? I'm assuming this will send Reid's headaches into orbit. Also, I wonder why Rossi wasn't confided in regarding Emily's status. He is the next senior officer I would think he'd be told.

lauren j. said...

Helen,

Supposedly JJ orchestrated the witness protection, but it's unclear why Hotch was even told. Usually the point is to minimize the number of people who know.

I think when JJ told the team Prentiss didn't make it, Hotch could read JJ and knew this wasn't the truth.

JML said...

Does anyone else think this episode was originally filmed to have Prentiss actually die?

I was wondering why they didn't show Prentiss' face at the end- we knew it was her. My guess is that it wasn't really Paget, because they added that scene to make it open-ended after they asked her back for Season 7.

Derek G. said...

I am disgusted by the blatant and unapologetic dismissal of integral female characters on this show. First JJ, now Prentiss. This show has been one of the highlights of my week for 5 years now, and I can honestly say that this season has been one of the worst. The writing is suffering greatly, the casting changes are HORRIBLE (Sorry Seavers, but there's just no chemistry with you and the team).

And by the way, as much as I was hopeful for CM:SB, it is NOT GOOD! I really love Forrest as an actor, but his character doesn't fit in the context of the show. He seems out of place and uncomfortable. The story lines aren't interesting, either. It's not just me, either - every CM fan I've talked to has agreed that the spin-off deserves the AX!

Laura said...

You know what I thought during the funeral scene, JML?
I thought that the so-called open ending was a lie and that they would really have her dead, just to Paget could be finally done with the show and moving on officially.
But I gotta say, even with the open end, I don't see the character coming back.

But thinking about the last scene in Paris, I can see that as a possibility

I dedicate the songs "Bitch" by Meredith Brooks, "The Undertaker" by Puscifer and "Rev 22-20" also by Puscifer also from the Underworld Soundtraks, "Panic Switch" by Silversun Pickups, "Tears and Rain" by James Blunt, "Eight Easy Steps" by Alanis Morissette all to both Paget and AJ and their characters Emily and JJ as well.

I dedicate "She's so High" by Tal Bachman to Emily and JJ.

Tia said...

Laura, do you think that because you feel that PB is done with the show and even if she doesn't get the pilot picked up she is just moving on?

I am your question asker tonight, aren't I, LOL

Laura said...

I'm not gonna lie, I still hope that Paget would stay. If she did, I would be so happy.
But with the pilot she got and how open she was about looking for a comedy now, I think she is ready to move on. She was the first to come up and say this was her final season, I think she's been ready since the beginning of season 6.
And now with this gigantic storyline, I really don't think Prentiss can just come back to the team and be business as usual from here on.
But don't listen to me, I'm the one who still hopes AJ will come back.
Especially after listening to that MGG interview.

lauren j. said...

I agree with Laura. Paget seems to have moved on. Coming back now would be like an admission of failure.

I noticed for the first time tonight during Prentiss' scene with the little kid that Paget has dimples. It's nice to see her smile. I hope comedy works out for her.

I'm sad because I feel so indifferent... There were just one too many changes for me, and I've emotionally checked out of criminal minds. There is no family left.

I can't enjoy the fact that Emily is alive knowing how sad Spencer is thinking she is dead.

It's all just wrong wrong wrong. And the irony is I don't even dislike Seaver anymore. I'm just done with the show.

adios

Optika said...

Remember that both paget and AJ have their dignity and did not like being treated like extras and they must be very hurt. At the same time, they had a family in the cast- pre RN cuz she dont count- and they did love their jobs so its really a 50-50 chance and there is now news of paget going to series with her new piot and even if it does, it may not make it and there is no news of AJ getting a show either.

Camilla said...

It's not even about Seaver anymore, whom I throughly dislike just because the character is such a farce, and for me, is the sum total of what is wrong with CM (writing, cast, writing characters OOC when she is on the scene) but it is what the Anonymous just said, the feel of the show is gone. One to many changes in cast and writing. I don't think that is ever coming back.

Plus, I think Laura and Lauren J. may be right. I think even if Paget's pilot doesn't get picked up, maybe she has just emotionally checked out of CM. It would be hard enough for anybody to go through what she went through and have any semblance of connection. I'm sure she loves the people that she has worked with for years, but to get kicked about like that can't be easy. Of course, I am just speculating, but I think she is done. I would love to be wrong about that though.

CBS really screwed up with Paget and this show, at least for me anyway.

OH MY GOODNESS!!! THAT WAS THE MOST INCREDIBLE EPISODE EVER!! Sorry to yell, I just had to shout it!! It really did make '100' look like a picnic and it was so awseome! Prentiss went through WAY too much though, but she lived so that's okay ... but when JJ walked in the room, I felt like I was in the room and the momant and it was just .. wow and I cried like no tomorrow and then I saw her sitting at the table and I wiped my eyes cause she was alive and this was amazing and I don't know what's gonna happen now, but i hope she's gonna come back and if she does it's gonna be awesome cause she should com back because she's amazing! When she was on the floor hanging on for her life and Morgan was there, I was like Morgan should just tell her he loves her because you can tell he does, especially from this episode! It was jsut so epic and so sad and so weird but in a good way and JJ was awesome and Seaver was awseome and Rossi was awesome and Reid was adorable and Hotch was awesome and Garcia was awesome and Prentiss was phenominal and Doyle was so evil I wanted to point that gun at him but it's okay cause Prentiss beat him senselessly and it was just awesome and I love it! I don't know if I missed anyone in my large babble but definitely it was awesome and Clyde helped kind of but not really but he was okay :P Hotch kinda pwned him ... but yeah this was awesome.

I liked 100 better, way better. The feel of and the writing of the show for me was way more on target than now, stronger.

This was a decent episode though. Didn't like the Rossi, Seaver routine. They shouldn't be trying so hard with that character, it is rubbing me the wrong way at least. It was a contrived scene the "Hey you can do it, if I just push you, I know it is there, I just know it is," whatever. Prentiss and Doyle, oh my, that was quite interesting. Wish they hadn't gone down the whole she was his girlfriend thing, but I get why they did. JJ, love her, but really, I didn't get the sense she was there much. I don't know. But the Reid and JJ scene at the end was indeed touching. Hotch was more on the scene this time, had some nice scenes, but I don't know, there is just something about his screen time nowadays that is urking me. Hotch doesn't urk me, just how they have him in scenes almost like he doesn't even have to be there. Don't know if I am making sense or not. Morgan, I'm glad he softened up on Prentiss towards the end. Loved the voice mail from Garcia to Prentiss, that was on point for that character. Reid I get that he (MGG) wasn't on much because he was directing.

I don't know. I have to say that I am not sure whether I will continue watching Criminal Minds. When the writers were fired, there was a distinct change for me in the feel of the show, but I think the blend of the cast kept me going. Now, everything is different, so foreign.

Well, now the episode is over (good episode, great directing MGG) and next week is rerun. But after that, reality. No more Prentiss, still no more JJ, and now apparently a Super prodigy profiling cadet soon to be rookie agent with apparently more knowledge, er oops, fresh eyes, than the BAU team that used to wow me like nobody's business.

Will check here for episode reviews. Sorry, but JJ and now Prentiss gone, too much. I get that that things change, but the change here was done with a taint and in a way that, I think, did not cover all bases (thanks CBS, argh!). Characters have been written out, a totally OOC attracting character has been entered in, and the writing, well I'll check here to see how that holds up moving on.

Paget Brewster you were just divine as always! Best of luck to you! AJ, loved seeing you one last time! MGG, congratulations on your directing. I have no doubt that one day we will see your directorial work on the big scene. TG, KV, SM and JM, love you familia! Will always catch you on ion, A&E, and my DVD's.

Can't wait for the chat tomorrow either.

There is no doubt that this episode is going to be a ratings monster--I predict something along 14-16 million, probably one of the highest for this season or the whole show's history overall--and then the ratings will take a major plunge.

If we think of it figurately, the funeral scene isn't just the "death" of Emily--for many viewers (not including myself) it is the death of the show.

I'm going to finish out the season, but I'm predicting a steep ratings decline.

The EP just ended for us in PST and I am emotionally and physically exhausted, yet all amped up at the same time. I don't remeber when I had this much anticipation for an episode on any show I watch. Of course following the trending on Twitter and reading the blog during the east coast showing didn't help my anxiety; but knowing what happened ahead of time didn't ruin anything for me and my houseguest weren't given any spoilers from me, just wine (the good stuff to toast PB's final EP & AJ's return) and horrible mozzarella sticks! I know there will be mixed reviews on the EP & I haven't had a chance to read them all, but this was the best EP of season 6!! I get it, that there are things to pick at and some more character interactions we would have liked, or not, but PB's performance was nothing short of amazing, brillant, emotional, badass, and whatever other adjective I can't think of at the moment - and maybe a verb too). This could have been a season finale..for the life of me I can't imagine how this season ends...but they did leave open some windows for good story telling...if there is still any good writers left after season 6...con't

I'm absolutely baffled as to how Mark Harmon and NCIS got in here...i thought this was a CM forum:)

It is definitely sad that Paget is leaving but I thought that she chose to leave after being shown the door and then told that the door was not really closed...she made a choice and look at that - she got rewarded with another show, thereby proving her value as an actress. Let's be happy for her and then be hopeful that her new show doesn't get picked up and she is back

Stop picking on RN - she is just an actress who took a job and got shoved into a nasty situation - bad writing, undeveloped character and an absentee landlord. If this was you would you really be able to do any better? I think not

As to SM comment that the contract negotiations were political for him and TG, I ask how does he know what is happening with TG? SM has publicly expressed his dissatisfaction with both the show and the spinoff while TG has never said a negative word about the show publicly - much like JM and KV. I think it would be terrible for the show to lose any more actors but let's be realistic - without Hotch there is no show. Who would be the center? Once Mandy left he became the unsung hero of the show - holding the team together with his stoicism and solidity. I still cant figure out what JM does - he is a great actor but like RN has been given a vague outline and told to fill it in. SM and MGG are terrific supporting players and no one beats KV on any show in town Including Pauley Perrette but lets face it they are truly supporting players. I would have preferred to see the TG and PB show - two fine actors who can carry any material and make it work

Paget Brewster we will miss you
Shemar Moore please stay
Thomas Gibson if you leave I am gone

Misa said...

Smartman, I am sorry, but RN is an actress and people are giving feedback on that. If she can't handle that, then acting is not for her. People of course shouldn't be rude, there are ways to provide feedback that people may not like without being rude, I agree on that. No one should be rude or nasty on either side, you can get a point across without that.

The tears started at Gacia's VM to Emily, than the fist pumping when Emily channeled her inner Jason Bourne, than a rollercoaster of emotional stuff (and swearing nicely)stuff that made me have to check myself and remember it was a TV show....To be honest I didn't have major issues w/Seaver and I guess relegated myself to what is happening. I would have preferred to have the "original" 7 for this EP, but I sucked it up and had it make sense to me that "fresh eyes," with less investment "might have" made sense (could have been the wine kicking in)but it was okay. I was glad that Morgan understood Emily and what she did at the end. I didn't want him to be so angry and tough guy. MGG is terrifc and should direct more often, even other shows if he ever gets the chance. He has a good creative mind :)I agree with some post here that Emiliy was to be killed off, but with all the uproar from fans, maybe it was changed on a rewrite. I'd like to think fans had some doing with offering her a return and CM realized how much we love the characters and the actors who play them. But now that Emily is gone, personally I don't see her returning to profiling after that brutal beat down and emotional journey. I do believe they will have to bring her back if only for a brief guest appearance to be able to say goodbye..it seems like another betrayal to the team to have her play dead and will eat Hotch up I think ( a good TG storyline). There is room for bringing back Doyle, catching him putting him in prison, having Prentiss come visit him and say goodbye, finding his son, having the mole be found (unless they did and I missed it). I just hope that if PB does return for a guest spot it is a physical scene and not some phone call over the speakerbox saying she is married to some guy named Pierre and living in the South of France......thank god next week is a repeat so I can decide if I am going to finish out the season.....I am very conflicted and dreading not seeing Emily. As a selfish fan I wish PB would return, but think her calling may be a comedy. It is a gift to be able to make people laugh and I think she is wonderful at comedy. I'm not a big fan of NBC but will be tuned in when her pilot airs. To all the CM cast & crew, and especially you Paget Brewster, thank you, thank you. Bye-bye Emily & JJ. Best wishes and continued success.

OMG! I was blown away! I should not feel surprised...not by Paget's acting or MGG's directing! Absolutely superior to all we have seen all season. The two of them rose above all the S---this season has made us choke on and totally redeemed the show in my eyes.

I thought every team member got adequate time given their relationship to Emily and I have to say without a stop watch, Seaver did not get too much. No, I was not offended at all at the role she played here because she was so OUT-PLAYED by the rest of the team as it should be: they have been on the team longer and are closer to our Emily. Like Reid said, they're FAMILY! Hell yes, they are, and I feel that the door was left WIDE open, not just for Emily but for JJ as well to return, who was so good,so strong &confident and so reassuring as slways. That calming effect she always had settled over me as soon as she left holding Reid in the ER, and went to speak with Hotch privately...so very well done. I feel very proud of everyone on the cast and Matthew you did a fabulous job playing up their innermost feelings.emotions about Emily and showed us their very bare souls as we watched them all go thru the shock of learning Emily's secret. I especially enjoyed watching Morgan go thru a myriad of emotions: anger, on to confusion, then protective and loving. What a sweet, loving man he is! Meks you wonder...

And the whole Doyle, child and relationship story was so well done. I must go back and see just how much of this relationship was truly real or a role Emily played as Lauren as I missed the first 10 mins coming in late from yoga nd kept having to DVR fast fwd to catch up - I need a second, thorough watch.

Seaver was on the show less than five mins total, I'm sure, I was not offended. Paget had the bulk of air-time, the rest an equal amount to demonstrate their emotions and then do their work and MGG-well he was busy behind the camera and of course, he could not help but be emotional and not be able to speak at the loss of Emily. She was the big sister Spencer never had and the younger mother he has lost and that she longs to be. Love them both - they were amazing and am so glad it worked out that he was able to direct this. I respect PB for respecting him! I feel like a proud mama right now.

I feel a tad sad but very satisfied right now, just as MGG predicted, and I am hopeful for the future of the show and all its wonderful players.

I cried quite abit, poured myself a second glass of wine and somehow missed any preview they may have shown for next wk while I put my anxious doggies out to pee. The popcorn only went so far and they could not wait any longer!

Good job, CM, I am happy, encouraged and feeling really good about the future of my fave show!

Looking forward to a satisying conclusion to season 6 in the next couple months and an EPIC (quote-MGG) 7th season. YOur rock, CM.

WOW!! I've had to watch this ep twice before I could comment. I have not seen a more gut-wrenching, intense ep of CM since "100". Joe's tweet was spot on!! It all starts with a script and Breen, man, you delivered!! To the crew that works behind the scenes, my humblest adoration. To the cast: you bring it every ep. Yet this ep it's obvious you stepped up your game. Biggest kudos, however go MGG's direction. Two special parts I have to highlight. The first - Rossi: "Do I have to hold your hand?" Breen, you are an absolute genius. As a person with an open mind, I understand the message you were sending to the Seaver nitpickers and naysayers. You rock hard dude!! The second was the scene with JJ and Hotch behind the closed doors. This I chalk up to the wonderful brillance of Gube's directing talent. This is the one I will watch over and over again in the next few days. You didn't need to be a lip reader. JJ: "Emily made it." Hotch: "I know." And I have no superlatives left in my vocabulary to say to Paget how special she was. To ALL involved with this ep, you didn't hit a homerun. You didn't hit it out of the park. You buried in someone's windshield in the cheap parking spots. My congrats to you all!!!

CBS and CM, can you do me a favor, please? The next time you hype up that a former cast memeber, one that you fired, but I digress, is coming back for an episode could you actually have her be in more than a couple of scenes. What the hell!!

You create a ridiculous character that viewers have to sit through week after week, but instead of shelving that ridiculous character for this episode, to maybe 5 minutes or so of the useless banter that streams from her mouth, no, no, you give the ridiculous character more time then the former cast member that you hyped up was going to be on the show for another wonderful cast member, that you pushed off the show, final episode. To top it off, the scenes that the ridiculous character were in, time that could have been used for the character you hyped was going to be in the episode, were so freaking ridiculous. Ridiculous in that it made David Rossi, one of the original founders of the BAU, author of several books on serial killers, who has interviewed and investigated numerous serial killers, who has been in high pressure situations, run to a cadet begging her to enlighten him and the FORMER elite and specialized team with her "fresh eyes" because they were all too close to the case being that Emily was involved and in danger. Huh, and here I thought that the whole Hotch getting stabbed up about a gazillion times by the Reaper, dumped at a hospital, Prentiss finding a pool of blood and a huge bullet hole in one of his apartment walls, the having to put Haley and Jack in witness protection and the whole investigation and tracking down of the Reaper was too close. Yep, I guess that is not close enough because they all had fresh eyes back then, especially Morgan who was knocked out cold by the Reaper, almost killed and had his FBI credentials stolen. Nope, guess still not close enough to require the fresh eyes of a cadet.

God Almighty! CM, why are you systematically making this team look like a bungling bunch of fools who need the help of some cadet. GIVE ME A BREAK! This is just an embarrassment! And for this minimal JJ. Why was JJ even there if she was going to be so underused? I'm not mentioning the other team members because it makes sense that they are actively involved in the investigation as they actually have the experience and know- how to be involved in the investigation. That makes sense.

There will be what, 6 episodes left where you can have the FORMER elite and specialized team run to this rookie agent for everything under the sun as they are no longer able to get a long without being schooled by this cadet, couldn't you have stuck to pulling this "fresh eyes" ploy in one of those episodes so that we could have gotten some Reid/JJ moments (last scene was nice though), Garcia/JJ, Morgan/JJ, Rossi/JJ, Hotch/JJ. I know time is limited in an episode and a lot was going on and had to go on, but come on, something more than what we got for JJ. That whole Rossi and Seaver bit could have been a nice Reid/JJ moment where maybe she could have asked him how he was feeling, maybe going back to when he came out of the airplane bathroom sick.

Severely disappointed that the JJ character was underused as evidenced above; heart stricken that Paget will no longer be on the show, and still trying to decide what I will do regarding CM moving along. However, must give a tremendous thumbs up to MGG for great directing. I am dying to see where MGG's directing flair will take him next.

Someone mentioned this on another board, I think, but it bears mentioning here as well... Why wasn't Prentiss' mother at her funeral? It probably was just a slip up, or maybe the actress couldn't make the shoot or something, but c'mon - it's her 'daughters' funeral!
Also, I agree that people are being too hard on Seaver. She is only doing the job she has been given. It isn't her fault that the writers are making her seem so novice and unimportant. That said, I do not think her character has good chemistry with the others, so the writers really need to fix that.
But, shame on CBS for eliminating 2 of the defining, integral female characters that helped to make this show what it is. Get rid of CM:SB and use the funds to get back to the high quality CM shows that we all know and love (and miss!)!!!

I'mACMer said "Seaver nitpickers and naysayers" great display of your open mind and vast vocabulary. Except, having an open mind is actually accepting and allowing for someone to have a different view of a character than yourself. But I don't have to tell you that since you have an open mind... right....

Derek G. Seaver or Nichols... People have commented on the character unless there was something I missed.

Wow, an awesome send-off for Prentiss and an excellent job by the Gube, and yet all I can really think of specifically: GET RID OF SEAVER. OMG, her presence makes even the best episodes fade into oblivion. Rossi holding her hand? THEN acting like her "insight" was the Second Coming of Christ (when Hotch made the EXACT SAME observation in the *last* episode) - just crimineys. "I'm good with narcissists, I dated a few" (and they got rid of JJ and Emily again Why?) Pulls me out of the show *completely*. For the love of all that is holy, remove this character so I can enjoy the decent episodes again. It's an absolute crime she's now basically the new female lead.

And all this doesn't even mention how IMO it doesn't even look like Melodramatic!Overkill!Rachel can't even act.

Ok, so what is it supposed to be then, some kumbaya fest so that we don't hurt a fictional characters feelings.

People are talking about the fictional character, not the actress. Now, if it were about the actress, then yes, that is wrong and disrespectful, but it is a fictional character. I think sometimes people forget that. Being disrespectful to the actress no, but if it is the character and people feel strongly about that, it is a fictional character not a human being. I'm really not trying to be mean but it is just getting strange with this whole don't jump on Seaver thing when Seaver isn't a real person with feelings to hurt. The actress is, yes, but the actress is not the fictional character. It is just so bizarre and creepy how people are blurring that line.

Damn it, CM.
You missed an absolutely wonderful opportunity to shoot Seaver.
Why waste it?

I know it! I'd ask Why, CBS? But we all know it's because the network now stands for Criminally Bad Screw-ups.

I loveee Prentiss she is my favorite character ever and I really love the cap! BUT I still don't like that end for prentiss! I mean I don't get it.
Only JJ and Hotch know that she is alive and they have to keep this secret from people they love! And doyle is missing? So Prentiss is hidding or looking for him? Because she doesn't give up! And now she is all ALONE!! she doesn't have anyone!Even at the end JJ just sais "Good look" WHY? why din't she say "I love you take care!" or something like that I mean she is her friend and she is ALL ALONE she lost her family!!

Also if prentiss comes back what is going to happen? I mean Reid, Garcia and Morgan are destroyed for her death is going to take time to heel and then she comes back and how are they gonna feel? That she LIED to them AGAIN, that JJ and Hotch lied to them even to protect her! I don't think they can trust in Emily again! At least not fast like she comes back and everything is rigth again! And they are going to feel bad because hotch and JJ knew and didn't tell them and let them suffer! This if she comes back BUT if she DOESN'T come back WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN? the show is gonna end and they are always going to beleive that she is death? And JJ and Hotch are going to keep this secret forever? And we are just don't going to know what happeneds to her? If she got other job or a family or ANYTHING? I mean this has no sense. Then again I just my opinion but I really want to know what people think about this because right know and SO confuse!!

PLEASE FORGIVE ME FOR THE BAD ENGLISH! I HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND AT LEAST A BIT! I JUST KNOW SPEAK SPANISH AND IT WAS SO DIFFICULT FOR ME TRY SO WRITE THIS IN ENGLISH.

Thank you for reading and seriously sorry for all the mistakes :D

Wow..just saw "Lauren" and I'm speechless. It was a fantastic episode with stand out performances from Paget, Kirsten, AJ and MGG. MGG is so freaking talented, he did an amazing job on and off the camera. Emily Prentiss is such a legend. What she did for that little boy Declan really touched my heart and elevated by love for her. And her fight scene with Doyle was class. What a truly kickass woman. You don't get many like Emily. I loved the scene in which Morgan was trying to comfort her and he was so afraid of losing her. And when Reid started crying my heart broke. I was glad that at least JJ was there to comfort him. Once she was in his arms he should never have let her go. We want her back for good as well as Emily. They are the real women of CM, the ones most of the fans feel a genuine connection with and they were never shoved down our throats. Not to take anything away from MGG's talents as a director, but I felt that "100" and even "JJ" left a stronger impact on me. I cried my eyes out while watching those two. "Lauren" was wonderful too but there were no waterworks for me this time. I loved the last scene with JJ&Emily in Paris. So glad they left the door open for her return. And I loved the fact that JJ did the ending quote. JJ quotes have always been my favourite.
I don't think Paget will be returning to the show in any capacity. I really doubt it. We can still hope!
Ashley Seaver has a history of dating narcissists? Wow..serial killer father, possible cutter and eating disorders, history of dating narcissists! This character keeps getting more and more ridiculous with every passing week. What a complete and utter failure. Please get rid of her, she is not fit to fill Emily's shoes. Not in a million years.

Sorry you feel so threatened because you're so badly outnumbered in your opinion. I'll keep *my* opinion though, since it's pretty obvious the majority agrees with me - particularly here. I'd suggest finding someplace where they actually *like* Seaver, but at all the forums and news websites I've been at, I'm afraid you'd still find yourself pretty much alone. If I were you, because of that, I wouldn't expect to stop hearing about how much Seaver sucks anytime soon.

BTW, you might want to start learning how to selectively read in order to avoid all these "ridiculous" comments pointing out all the logical fails of Seaver. Do hope you never find yourself adverse to Reid, or you might just keep finding yourself in this "life isn't fair since I hold the minority opinion and I hate reading all the majority opinions" position you seem to find yourself in.

Ooooo, it's like what, 5 against 100? Real big pro-Seaver crowd there, Ben.

Like I said, I'd suggest a course in skim reading, since the criticism is only going to get worse now that she's basically the only female lead left.

Just checking, you people do realise that the Rossi / Seaver scene was less to do with the sharp end investigation (the fresh eyes malarkey) and was more about Rossi's sense of Seaver's development as an agent? But maybe those who are reacting very strongly against the scene might find it easier to put it into perspective once you focus on that aspect of it. Rossi was asking questions that he had through through with Morgan before, both in Emily's house and on the jet. (The thing I love about Mantegna's acting of this role -- you can always see Rossi thinking even though he keeps his counsel for the most part.) Rossi knew the answers or at least he knew the areas that the answers lay in. He was asking Seaver to step forward.

This scene wasn't 'Cadet Saves the Day'. It was cadet gets blooded. Cadet starts to belong on the team.

The holding the hand thing linked back nicely the to the jet flight back from Seaver's first case. Seaver stepping forward with her thoughts also paralleled Lauren stepping forward with Doyle for the killing of the 'innocent' ('Hello Lauren, good to see you again'). So that was smartly done and good integration.

Cue the strand of the argument where people say that she's a cadet and you can't train on the job... To which I reply, that's Rossi's kind of training. I like the new girl. I think she's going to fit in just fine.

What a fantastic episode! Loved it. Prentiss is the one who has left this show the strongest. Gideon jumped. The Elle departure was a bit weak. JJ's was strong. But this was going in some style. Terrific work from all involved.

Well done to MGG for the direction and to all the actors, particularly Mantegna, cos I love ya.
