Criminal Minds: As of 10:25am CST today Thomas Gibson, according to his manager, still has no contract. Does it make you nervous that the CBS upfronts are tomorrow and Thomas Gibson still has no contract?

I love Criminal Minds, I think we all do here, and while Hotch is not my favorite character, I'm worried about the show's future without him. I noticed a lot of changes lately and I don't think that's a good thing. Just my opinion.
I'm VERY nervous about TG leaving CM! I just can't believe this could happen! I thought CBS bringing AJ back and talk that Paget may come back was CBS way to undo what was done to CM this season! No way will this work without TG staying on CM!

I have watched CM since the amazing 100 episode! What a rollercoaster that one was! I was amazed at Thomas Gibson acting! Totally Emmy worthy performance! That episode made a fan out of me mostly because of Hotchner. Love this character, love how he is such a great boss and leader. I hope Thomas will be back next season! I wanna see more of his character! Oh and more of his son Jack too! Such a cute kid!
It's silly how repetitive they're getting. CBS apparently hasn't learned anything from the CSI/William Peterson debacle. What seems to be a no brainer for the rest of the world is very difficult for them. They like to think they can do anything to Criminal Minds and people will still watch. Well guess what CBS, your precious spin off flopped. You don't know what people want, not really. You only know what your greedy pocket wants. Your greedy pocket has led to one thing alone over the past few years...a steady decline in ratings. Whether you choose to learn something from it or not, it's your business. I for one, know I will be done watching Criminal Minds if the whole cast and I do mean the WHOLE original cast of CM is not back. You can't possibly expect people to still follow the show after the grief you put them through.

Just a little. It doesn't matter what television show or movie Thomas is in, I will watch.
If Thomas does not return to Criminal Minds, the show will have a lot less viewers. He is one of the original cast members and shouldn't have to negotiate anything. CBS should be grateful he is still willing to be on their show.
Thomas is a very talented and respected actor who deserves whatever he is asking for.
So CBS, you didn't get it with the spin off, so I will explain again. We. Want.The.Original.CM. No fake BAU team like the spin had, no cadet that shouldn't be a BAU agent, especially after we read from Jim Clemente who is a REAL BAU agent that you have to train for three years before you can join the BAU!
What we want is simple: TG, JM, MGG, PB, KV, SM and AJ! Nothing more, nothing less!
So get working CBS sign TG and bring back PB!

I don't know why we are worried. Contract negotiations go to the very last minute. One year the cast of the CSI crew didn't sign until the week before they were to start shooting the season. I am sure the kinks are going to get worked out.
I watch this show for fun. I must say this takes all the fun away. Honestly I don'e know how much longer I can and will watch. But one thing is sure, I won't watch if Thomas Gibson is not back. That would be the nail in the coffin of CM and i won't stand around and watch how it all goes downhill.
Sabrina, you talk good sense. I completely agree. Without ALL of our original S6 cast ALL the time then I'm done too. It is just plain wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong. Not business at all.

I’m not particularly nervous but what I can say is if TG/Hotch is not back for season 7, as a full time cast member, I’m not interested in watching CM any longer. Its too significant of a cast change after a very lousy season. I believe it will end the show all together.
Someone doesn't know why we're worried?? Geez. Writers fired. Two main ladies fired. TG tells us he wants to be back yet still no contract... hmmmm, seems pretty clear to me.

I really don't want to test the theory of a Hotchless Criminal Minds. And its unnecessary. Up until this season, we had an amazing cast and writing staff. Enter CBS and begin-eth the useless and harmful tinkering. We want a return to the great days of S1-5. A big part of that is TG's Hotch, so you'd best be getting him back fulltime. If he isn't, I won't care if the show flops or not because I won't be tuning in.
Come on CBS I don't want to stop watching CM but I will if I lose my favorite character! No way will CM be as interesting without Hotch!
I think we should all be worried, all the cast have been signed and Paget had the option open to come back if her pilot didn't go ahead, and still no contract for Thomas Gibson ... why!! CBS just playing games or toying with us? ... or they have plans to oust TG?
We all know that TG wants to come back & yes I know these negotiations take a while, but they have AJ back which was a good move and SM has been signed so what's the hold up with TG?

And this is why I don't believe that there's a contract and they're simply waiting to announce it. It doesn't make sense. I don't think everyone is going to skip the season finale. I'm going to watch, although my interest has plummeted. But, I think it's more likely that if you base your decision to watch on the news that there's no contract for him, you're more likely not to watch.
If they're doing it for hype (although I don't see where the potential lies in sitting on the news) why would they release word that SM got a new contract? Why not double the hype by keeping us in the dark about both actors? No, I'm sure that no contract has been signed. And, if one does get signed, they're not going to coyly wait to announce it. We'll know as soon as the general public usually does find these things out.
Well this puts a damper on my day. I was fully expecting to come home to the news of a new contract for Thomas Gibson. I'll still hold on to the hope that Hotch will be back next season. It's just so impossible to picture the show without him. Sign Thomas Gibson CBS!

So tired. So tired of the drama that always seems to surround my show at this time of year. CBS, this is a top performing show. WTH are you doing??! My favorite character is Hotch and you can be sure that I will change both shows and networks. Yeah, i get i'm only 1 person but I think you have some idea of TG's popularity. So give him a good deal and save our show.

Hopefully someone will post before I finish and I won't be double posting. To Anonymous who wonders why we're worried? On another show I watch, negotiations went on for a long time. Some actors did not sign on until very recently. That fit the "it comes down to the wire and then works out okay". And, just today, I find out that someone decided to leave. Their contract was up, they negotiated, but they won't be there next season. So I'm nervous because I know things don't always work out. They don't do sometimes, but I can't hide from the possibility that they might not.
For people who aren't nervous, well, you have a much easier time with this. And that's great. It would be easier on everyone if we could do the same. But, it's understandable why some of us are nervous. We're dealing with a situation that no one can say with absolute certainty is going to end up okay.
I said to some friend that I started watching CM because of Thomas and I will stop watching when Thomas leaves.
I hope he will be back next season, if not then I will watch something else on Wednesday's night at 9.

I have a headache. I think it comes from hitting my head against a brick wall. I wish CBS would just man-up and stop being so (stupidly) stubborn. Give TG a raise. You know he deserves it. He is a class act and a gentleman. I want him back full time next year or you can forget about my viewership. I love TG's acting and I love his character. I'm with the other fans, give me more hotch, not zero hotch.

How can CBS even think about Criminal Minds without SSA Aaaron Hotchner? He is the chore of CM, the one character with Reid that we cannot lose!

Hotch isn't my fave (close but I'm a proud Reid fan) but this show needs him big time! I think some of the best scenes are with Hotch/Reid and i wanna see more of them. Please give TG a super duper contract soon!

Not only am i distressed on tg's part (this must totally suck after so many years of making the show what it is today), but on my own behalf and the rest of the loyal cm fans. To the network: we are of your crap. Fix it. It isn't hard, just give Thomas his EARNED payrise and minutes that don't relegate him like this horrible season. Then we can all be happy and be glad to spread the word CM is good to go for next season. Without SSA Hotchner, the show isn't something i want to continue with.

When the drama around the girls was going on, we were encouraged to remember that there are more people affected by that situation than just the two of them. In this case I think it's good to remember that Cade Owens will be out of a job too if Thomas doesn't get a contract. So will Thomas' stunt double. Just a thought I considered worth mentioning.
I wish I weighed about 100lbs more, was 6 inches taller and then put in a room with the morons who are threatening yet again to be idiots in their dealings with one of our cast members. I find it unacceptable that a lead who has performed so admirably cannot be offered something worth signing. Sort it out and soon. Without Hotch, I ain't interested.
I started watching CM after my mom told me about this hot guy with long hair and purple scarf. After two episodes I was more interested in the tall, dark and handsome guy in the suit! Now I am a total fan of Thomas Gibson. His Hotchner is so interesting, lots of depth, courrage. He is such a strong man and great leader! The BAU without him would be weak and uninteresting and something I would not watch.
All of this started with CBS / ABC or whoever in their wisdom thought they would tinker with something that was so successful and winning them the ratings they needed … we all know you don’t mess with things that are not broken, you do and without a doubt you will break it and this is without a doubt what has happened with Criminal Minds … season six has been deplorable to say the least and I know that all the die hard CM fans will agree with me on this, so why put us through this again, have you not done enough damage with taking out AJ & Paget, bringing RN in and we all know how that was received!.
Hiring AJ back has been a move in the right direction and also re-signing SM, but Thomas Gibson as many would agree is the backbone of this show, he goes and with him so will Criminal Minds.
So if the intention is not to renew Thomas’s contract they might as well cancel the show.
Not renewing Thomas Gibson’s contract will surely be the demise of this amazing show.

Hotch/Jack moments are such treats and lighten the dark side as well as giving us the enormous chance to see Hotch smile. I love team moments too, but Hotch/Jack keep me coming back.

CM fans may argue about their fave characters but we agree on the most important thing: CM is a family and TG's Hotch is an integral part of that. I won't support the network that is so blatantly disrespectful of fan's wishes and their treatment of Mr. Gibson. I am repeating others but i do feel the same way... a Hotchless CM is just not something I want to see. Please don't let this happen.
We have till July for Thomas to get a contract. We have time so we just have to wait it out. But if Thomas Gibson leaves I will leave too.

CBS, find a way to bring back Thomas Gibson. It should be more than obvious how much this fandom loves him. You should love him too, after the massive success of the show and his never-ending PR tours on behalf of CM. You are ready to toss crazy money at other show's actors, what is your problem here? At least tg has earned it, 10x over! I'm sorry, but as much as i love CM, i will give it up cold turkey if my favorite Hotch isn't signed. Make it work CBS, TG won't be asking for the earth.
I highly doubt we have until July. Contracts are being signed NOW. Rarely do you hear otherwise. And regardless, do you really want to take that chance knowing the stupid games CBS likes to play? I won't sleep (or watch another CM episode) until I know for certain that TG has signed on the dotted line and will be back next season.

It's hard not to be nervous about this whole situation. It's hard to picture Criminal minds without Gibson or Hotchner. It's hard not to be nervous about where this show is heading with all these cast and direction changes. It's just hard for everybody to keep the hope going. It's just hard to think of watching. Hotch is the epitome of leadership and I don't think anyone could take his place. A lot of fans will be disappointed if the worst occurs and Thomas Gibson is not signed for S7. If you think the drop in ratings has been significant when AJ and then Paget left, you just wait and see what dramatic impact losing Hotch will have on the show. He may not be your overwhelmingly present in-your-face leader but don't underestimate his subtle presence. Yeah, I know I'm talking to the walls here. No one cares about what we think anyway. Like someone said before, they only care about their greedy pockets.

It makes me very sad to know that Thomas Gibson didn't contract for next season. I'll be forced to stop seeing this wonderful series, because without Agent Hotchner, Criminal Minds is nonsense, then why do I keep watching?
I want Thomas to sign so bad! I hated the episode without Hotch this year and I'll never knowingly watch another. If this means giving up my show, then so be it. Hotch is such a central character and there's so much more to discover about him. I want him back for season 7 and for as long as CM keeps going. I can't and won't keep watching without him. :( Please give him a great deal. Full time and a nice raise.

Contracts get signed when they get signed. Contracts can take till July. Its happened before with other casts. Don't give up hope.
You know, I am getting really tired of this CBS, Nina Tassler, Les Moonves! Just do the right thing and give Thomas Gibson a fair contract. He deserves to be treated SO MUCH BETTER than you are currently treating him. Seriously, get him signed. Now!
I somehow doubt it will be just one viewer lost … every viewer counts and if the poll on the CM fanatic blog run some time back was any indication 38,821 viewers or 95% had their say, also would be smart to point out that this is only a subsection of the fandom & there are many more out there, (a good percentage of the 13 – 14 million out there) who are not on blogs & fan sites who will simply stop watching.
If CBS does pursue this and not sign Thomas Gibson, Criminal Minds will not be what it is today, mind you S6 was not much to write home about!!
Forrest Whitaker with all his star power didn’t do anything for the spin, whereas CM has gone from strength to strength even with Mandy’s departure, now if this is not due to the success of this cast then I’m not sure what else it is … and Thomas Gibson has to be credited for this success, this cast makes this show, they are all integral to the success of this show, and so not signing Thomas Gibson will surely be a big … no huge mistake on the part of CBS.
Not giving up hope but am being proactive. I want to believe with all my heart that things will be fine. I guess I'm a proactive person who would rather be safe than sorry. I love Hotch and CM too much to wait.

CBS/ABC, while I am happy that you have brought back AJ Cook, this in no way... NO WAY... makes it ok for you to not renew TG's contract. Please stop messing with the cast that we love and renew TG. I am joining those with the refrain "No Hotch, No CM for me."
To the anonymous that posted about the contracts (I'm sorry I didn't catch your name), there's a difference between holding on to hope and deluding yourself. Contracts get signed when they get signed. These negotiations must have been going on a long time before May of 2011. There was plenty of time for them to reach an agreement. The fact that after all this time they still didn't manage to get to a common ground speaks volumes. That's the thing that worries me personally. If people want to hold on to hope, they can certainly do so. There will always be those eternal optimists around. When CBS is concerned I've learned the hard way to expect the very worst cause they will always strive to achieve that.

I have to admit that Hotch isn't my fave character but I recognize his importance and I love the Hotch/Jack and Hotch/Strauss moments. I AM disgusted at the way TG is being treated. ITA with Lori (^^) and couldn't say it better. So even as a team lover (vs any one character) the exit of TG/Hotch means I'm out. It is simply one cheap shot too many. And I do mean 'cheap'. I hope CBS figure that out and give Thomas both respect and a correspondingly respectful contract worthy of his signing.

I admit it. I'm selfish. All I want for my birthday is Hotch to be back for next season. And REALLY back, not the background Hotch we suffered through this year. Great actor, great character. How you can ask for anything more is beyond me. Joining the choir: no tg/hotch and no more cm that's worth it.

Sabrina I second your comments, it's a hard lesson to learn in this business I imagine! And I truly feel sorry for these network execs one has to wonder where their smarts are when it comes down to it, any good business exec. will tell you when you are on to a good thing you don't mess with it, you throw money at it and develop it and build wealth, but you don't pull it apart and dissect it.
I too was a devout CSI fan until the William Peterson debacle and CSI has not played on my TV since, and the same will be the case here, I'm obsessed with CM the one single show that I have ever become obsessed with, and yes I’m not ashamed to say I’m a Thomas Gibson fan so he goes I go simple as that.
Julie contract take time to come to terms even if they last through the summer. Micheal Weatherly from NCIS didn't have a contract about two years ago until well into the summer.

I came to the CMF blog hoping for some good news about Thomas instead I find this thread that is asking us if we are nervous about Thomas still not having a contract. Hell yes I am nervous, very nervous! How can I not be since Hotch is CM central character! No way will I watch CM without Hotch!
I hope CBS will do good here and re-signed Thomas, he deserve a good contract and we deserve to keep our unit Chief!
My Bet, The season 6 cliffhanger will be him leaving. If he signs, the premier will end with him coming back because he "just can't walk away from who he is". If he doesn't sign Shemar/Derek takes over. (Because we all know NO ONE knows what next year will hold, not even the writers :D)
I'm not worried. As much as I love the character of Hotch, IMHO season 5 took him as far as he can go. (phenomenally, but still, how much room is there to take him further?)
If he leaves though, I will miss Thomas dearly and the dynamic he brings to the ensemble.

I'm actually sick. That feeling like you've swallowed a big rock. I haven't had this feeling since... oh yeah, the announcement Paget was leaving. Yes, it is sad that I take it so hard. But this is the first time in over 20 years of TV viewing that a show has managed to capture my attention and love so much. The biggest part of that was and remains Agent Hotchner. TG plays him perfectly. Nothing too overt, just perfect. And his performance in 6 seasons has been nothing short of sensational. This season has missed him. Yes, it has been obvious. So CBS, I don't know who you think you're fooling in these alleged contract negotiations. Anything short of a substantial raise and continued lead/full time status is ludicrous and if it comes to life, then so does the end of my love affair with the show and CBS. Do the decent thing, not the greedy thing.
I for the most part do watch this show all the time. I watch the reruns on ion unless I've saw it enough to know everything that's going to happen. I'm a mommy to 4 and this show gives me a reason to break everyday. It'd be too much of a change for me to see a show without him...unless he really doesn't want to do it. Idk. All I know is that I love my tv time especially since I breastfeed. I don't want to have to give that up...tv time not breastfeeding.
I will not watch House next season because we lost Lisa Edelstein on House and now I read here that we may lose Thomas Gibson on Criminal Minds? Great another show I will not watch next season. That mean no more networks tv for me.

I'm sure he would have signed a contract had it been a fair reflection of his worth. I don't trust CBS after the debacle with our ladies.

Very nervous that Thomas Gibson still has no contract. Hoping Thomas Gibson and CBS come to an agreement soon, as he is the reason I watch Criminal Minds. Hoping Paget Brewster returns like AJ Cook and glad Shemer Moore signed a new contract but I know I won't watch Criminal Minds if Thomas Gibson doesn't return to the show.
Criminal Minds without Aaron Hotchner would not be something I would watch. He is my favorite character and the show would not be the same without him. I would like to keep watching because I do enjoy the show, so please make sure that Hotch is there for S7.

Proud member of the Hotch sisterhood and royally pissed off that TG's contract is still in the air. Not happy at all that CBS continue to muck about with a great show and will absolutely irate if the situation ends with TG not back next year. Without him, it will no longer be the show I go out of my way to see every Wednesday.

Why can't you listen to fans CBS? We want the whole cast back next season! You should listen really, we told you we didn't want a spin off, you did one and look now, very few watched, that spin off is canceled. We told you we wanted to keep AJ and Paget but you still fired them. Now you had to backtrack and AJ is back and Paget may be back too.

I think I'm going to take someone's wise advice: don't fall in love with series characters, they never last long. They're subject to the arbitrary whims and decisions of network execs that care about figures and exec producers that care about drama. Unfortunately for me the advice came a little too late for me as I've gotten to a point where I care about this show and about the characters. I care about what happens to Aaron Hotchenr or Emily Prentiss or Jennifer Jareau. It causes us a lot of pain because we care and they don't. Where they see figures we see people, where they see plot lines we see tears of pain or of joy. Where they don't care, we do. CBS has come to their senses and cancelled the spin off, is it too much to hope they will come to their senses in this matter as well? I guess we'll soon find out. But I think this would be the last straw for me. I stuck around for the departure of the writers, I stuck around when JJ left, when Prentiss left, but you have to draw a line somewhere. If Thomas Gibson leaves, I think that will be my line.
Very nervous. Like everyone else, I simply cannot imagine Criminal Minds without Hotch. Although he isn't the only reason I watch the show, it just wouldn't be the same without him. He's the leader, and without the leader there is no show. No one else can take that place. I hope this is resolved soon.

I don't understand how a show that is consistently in the top 10 agaisnt stiff competition is continually put through this ringer. As others here have said, the whole lack of contract for our team leader and wonderful TG is beyond comprehension. I'm tired and angry. Tired and angry that every spring/summer for the last 2 years (and now a 3rd), I've had to fight tooth and nail to make sure the team I love and characters I love ALL come back for the next season. This year its personal. Hotch is my fave character and TG is a gem. Yet he gets no respect except from fans. We love you Thomas, and that 'Underappreciated actor' award was so well deserved! If TG doesn't return, kiss CM goodbye. It may hang around, but it will be a skeleton b/c the heart will have gone. And me too.
If Gibson doesn't sign, as a Morgan/Rossi/Reid fan, I will happily continue watching.
It won't affect me as much as others, but I still want him to re-sign, just to keep the family mold.

I don't think that Hotch has gobbled the most screen time, especially not this season. Being the 2nd highest paid cast member is a reflection of his reputation, experience, and talent. To be fair, he should continue being the 2nd highest paid cast member IMO. If the others are getting raises, so should he. Though I don't know Gibson personally, I highly doubt that he is being a diva. In all interviews, tweets, and chats I've watched/read/participated in, he has always seemed like a nice, down to earth guy. A great guy should get a great contract. Stop being stingy CBS. Gibson is an asset and necessary to the show. Give him what he wants so that we can all move on. I really hate all this drama and waiting. It's annoying and tiresome. Time to surround your show with positivity again. End the negativity with the fans. Renew TG already.

CBS here's hoping that you are using Thomas Gibson's contract renewal for hype and show advertising ... not renewing Thomas's contract will certainly be a diabolical mistake on the part of CBS so if this is the case please reconsider.
With all the changes, limited budget & exposure that CM has suffered through the last year it has gone from strength to strength even after Mandy's departure and Thomas Gibson should certainly be credited for keeping this show together, I fervently hope that the rumors that Thomas is not returning to the show are unfounded, because the loss of Thomas Gibson will definitely be the demise of this show.
If there is no contract in place for Thomas can I please add my voice to the many fans that we want Thomas back, he is the backbone of this show and should be credited & rewarded not only for his outstanding & superb acting skills, but for his dedication to CM and what he brings to the show with his character.

I'm glad that SM was given a new contract, and I'm so happy to have AJC back and I'm hopeful that PB will want to come back too. I've missed them both so much! The show just didn't work for me without JJ and Prentiss.
At this point, I'm really tired of all the unnecessary behind-the-scenes drama caused by CBS. Please just get on with it and give TG what he deserves as the star of a top 10 show.

Nope, don't buy that. Unless a character was created with a finite existence in mind from the start, there's always room for more stories for a character. I can think of stories or different ways his relationship to team members can be explored. Heck the whole knowing that Prentiss is alive lends itself to story potential. Both if she does come back and if she doesn't. And that's only one idea I can think of. And all the stories that I can think of, I'm sure don't even scratch the surface of what professional writers can come up with.
So I think there's plenty of life left in his character. The only thing that stands between the potential stories is the fact that he doesn't have a contract.
Totally agree with the Anonymous just above me. So many more Hotch storylines available. Especially the Hotch/JJ keeping Prentiss' secret storyline!! Even Erica Messer the showrunner talked about it at the Clemente chat and she was excited to see that played out!! And so am I, goshdarnitall!! Please don't mess up season 7 like season 6 was messed up. Give Gibson his contract and let's all get on with it for Pete's sake!!!
Sorry for the actors concerned, but very relieved that CM:SB is history. Hoping this means that the resources needed to maintain a successful show will not be re-directed to CM.

Sincerely this negotiation is wearing me out, I love this series and without the principal actor is impossible to make up. It is a lack of respect for viewers. Where is the consideration for the fans of Thomas Gibson? If the agent Hotchner didn't return to the BAU honestly I'll stop watching the show.

I really am not a Hotch fan but he is crucial to Criminal Minds. I would miss him if he was gone. I am getting tired of all the backstage drama the show has had this year. I just don't think I can deal with it anymore.
I agree with you Anonymous the drama behind the scenes takes the wind out of our sails! It's sad to see that the ones that usually end up paying for it are the actors we love and respect so much. CBS will not care that we get fed up with things and give the show up, they won't blink at cancelling it one day (hopefully in the very distant future). For them it's just another show. When this one will eventually go, another one will takes its place. They have no loyalty to the show, the characters, the actors, the fans. They don't care if they release Thomas Gibson, they wouldn't blink. They believe everything and everybody is replaceable. Ha! What a joke! Thomas Gibson is to CM what William Petersen was to CSI. I agree with the comments above. This show has always been about family. Take Hotch out and that family will lose an important piece. CM can only thrive if the family is intact, if we have everyone back. Sign Thomas and bring Paget back and maybe things will get back to normal. I hate the anxiety that this situation is causing. I hope we'll hear something soon.
For those at CBS who have taken a leave of their senses, this is a character driver show, and with all the drama this show has suffered the writers haven't even scratched the surface of exploring these characters, and that is true for all of the characters. Hotch/Thomas Gibson as unit chief is a crucial part of this character driver show, a show that many fans have invested 6 years in and still come back each week for the characters.
We have seen the turmoil that was wrought with cast changes made recently and it would be nice not to have to go there again.
Hotch/TG is the head of this family, is the head of the BAU, and suffice it to say this team & show will not make it without him.
So CBS if a contract has not already been signed for Thomas Gibson, I urge you to please do this for us fans & for the longevity of Criminal Minds.

Please, people, do what Blue Sunflower has suggested and go to CBS feedback and tell them how much we want Hotch! I just did and tried to stress how important his role is and what would happen if they were to lose him. I told them they had done everything else to make Season 7 as good as the previous five were but that only with Hotch could that be possible. It only takes a couple minutes and if it helps, it's worth it. Please!
Georgia my sentiments exactly, I'm devastated with what's happened with CM and all the BTS BS dramas.
CM Wednesdays was the most exciting day of the week for me given I'd drop everything to watch my favourite show, season 6 and the dramas that came with it has taken its toll on me & I know nobody really cares how I feel, but I care that the show that I've obsessed over since the pilot is turning into a train wreck.
If TG is not renewed I'm done with the show & again I know no one will care I'm just one person, but I do also know that there of many of me out there! I just hope that CBS hear us and do what is right.

Am I nervous? Yes. But not just because of TG. I'm nervous because next season MGG and Joe M. renegotiate their contracts and of the entire cast those two are the ones I see most likely to walk if they can't get what they want. MGG is young, he's built a fan base and he's not the type that feels like he "has" be in a high profile project. I can easily see him chucking deuces at CBS and diving into indie films or directing (his first love) and being quite happy. Joe M has steady voice gig on The Simpsons AND the man has a solid resume. I can easily see him walking if he can't get what he wants contract wise. These negotiations with TG (and the ones with SM) are setting a precedent. You can believe MGG and JM's peeps are watching and taking notes. If these go bad, it doesn't bode well for the next round.
As far as the show goes, as much as I love Reid, I'm not watching a CM where there's no Hotch, no Prentiss AND I'm subjected to Seaver. I'll watch reruns on A&E and ION first.
I follow TG's twitter and there was no post saying he's not signing. I just checked again, and nothing of the kind has been posted. No one else on Twitter is talking about it. If he did post it, there's no way that everyone who follows him would be quiet about. I searched every possible variation that someone might use to talk about him tweeting that he's not signing. And, not a mention anywhere from anyone. I checked as far back on his feed past the date of his last chat, where he said he wanted to stay all the way up to his latest tweet today. As of 1:41 AM central time, there is not a single tweet from him saying he's not signing.
I'm no optimist. There may in the future be a tweet like that (I certainly hope not) but it doesn't exist now.
I agree Blue Sunflower he has never said anything to that effect, as far back as January in his first chat of the year he indicated that he is planning to be back, & indicated that contract negotiations were part of the labour law.
Even back in December he said that he was planning to be back for season 7 and attempting to negotiate a new contract.
If he has not been signed yet & that bothers me, I can only deduce that CBS didn’t come to the party!! Or are not playing ball!!
Yeah, I've been following TG for a few weeks now and no such tweet. If he'd tweeted it before that, I'm pretty sure it would have made the rounds.
Just to say, I may *sound* like I'm taking Desi's words into consideration, but no. They're either complete BS and trolling, or - more likely given her profile - she's done an epic misunderstanding from something he *did* say.
I was hooked with the pilot and with each ensuring season have become more and more obsessed with this show until season 6, which when compared to prior seasons any long-time CM fan will tell you has not been a great season.
The stories aside which are intelligent, interesting & thought provoking for most part, what I love about CM is the cast & characters it brings to my screen each week, we have seen these characters grow over the years, we have been part of their struggles, their trials and tribulations & they have become our CM family, and this family without Hotch/Thomas Gibson will simply not be a family.
PLEASE CBS sign a new contract with Thomas Gibson for Criminal Minds season 7 & 8...

I love the entire team, but I will stop watching CM without Hotch. Why watch a show that has been deprived of its main character, one of the core elements that has made CM the wonderful, special, successful and unique series it is?
A long time CM watcher & fan here and like many others have articulated it is completely inconceivable to even contemplate a CM without Hotch/Thomas Gibson. This cast in their own unique way have brought this show to what it is today, this amazing cast is what truly makes this show, and who we all come back to watch week after week.
We need them all on board and most importantly our Stoic Unit Chief, so if you haven’t already CBS please do the right thing and sign Thomas Gibson for season 7 and onwards.
And no stunts like we had with Paget, we need Thomas back full-time as a regular cast member, we know he wants to be back so please sign him!!!

It’s great that we have AJ back, SM signed, and with the weeks reports likely we will also have Paget back, to top it off someone came to their senses and canned the spin great decision (could have seen that coming from the very beginning!).
Thomas Gibson’s contract is whole other kettle of fish, can’t even begin to imagine the detrimental effect not signing Thomas will have on CM.
You just need to go back and review seasons 1 – 5 and we have our answer, this is a great show and has always held its own on ratings & consistently been in the top 10, so I do hope they work it out and we have Thomas Gibson together with the rest of our BAU team back and we can finally have CM back & restored to its full glory.
I'm not worried - there's plenty of time between now and the new season starting to film.
It's been reported he'd like to stay, so it's a matter of working out a deal - that is all.

Anonymous, yes, I can see it's best not to speculate about wage demands when we simply don't know what's holding up the contract. But no one's hesitating to blame CBS/ABC. They're being painted as the villains here. Who knows? The Hotch fan reaction might be strengthening the agent's ambition and preventing the signature. They probably feel they've got CBS/ABC over a barrel. Again, this is pure speculation because we DON'T KNOW.
For me, the fact that ABC Studios/CBS fired the show's strongest writers at the end of season 4, fired AJ, reduced Paget's appearances, and inserted what I deem to be a ridiculous character on the show to try and make up for the void left by the two female lead characters are things that have eroded whatever benefit of the doubt I may have given ABC Studios/CBS with regard to this matter.
We're all here for him, just in a day 300 comments are quite a good part. CBS don't be stupid!!
not nervous. it can come through at the last minute. besides, just became they are releasing their schudule doesn't mean the cast cant chagne. We all know what happened in season 3. Also with CSI:NY, the girl that played Stella didn't say she wasn't returning last year, until later, after the schedule had been released. The only time I might get nervous is when they are getting ready to start filming season 7 and he doesn't have a contract at that point. Just not nervous at this point and don't see a reason to be.
I go to bed thinking about it, I wake up thinking about it, so yeah I guess I am nervous. There will be no CM for me without Hotch and I'd kinda like to know if I should find another show to watch.

I love Criminal Minds and profiling fascinates me, but I become too much a fan of Hotch to enjoy without him. I don't think I can watch Criminal Minds Season 7 if Hotch won't be in.

I cannot believe we are once again imploring CBS to not harm our favorite show and characters. Criminal Minds is the best show on TV; and Thomas Gibson's Hotch is the absolute best character.
I cannot believe there is even a question about whether or not Mr. Gibson will return for Season 7; and I cannot believe he has not already been re-signed. It is incredible to think that such a brilliant actor, amazing talent, and illustrious ambassador for the network would not be compensated for his value and all that he's done to make CM what it is. He is to CM what Mark Harmon is to NCIS, Simon Baker is to the Mentalist and William Peterson was to CSI. No Thomas Gibson, CM will fail.
I cannot believe that Mr. Gibson is asking for some exorbitant amount that would prevent CBS from signing a contract with him. He has been so under-appreciated by CBS/ABC over the years that you owe him for not recognizing him as the true lead that he is; and not paying him for the leadership role he has maintained since the beginning of the series.
Criminal Minds is the only show I anxiously wait for each week. It is not a television show for me, it is an event. And the removal of my favorite character (Hotch), the beloved Thomas Gibson, would make me resent CBS as a network; and I would boycott all of its offerings.
Please return CM to the wonderful series it once was, with Thomas Gibson as the indisputable lead, and Paget Brewster back in the fold. I know the issue isn't Charlie Sheen money. But as the number 2 drama to NCIS in the demos (not NCIS LA, not The Mentalist, not CSI) , Thomas Gibson should be admirably rewarded for contributing to that success.

I do have a life, but very stressful job and the only thing that gets me relax is watching CM with all the cast, but if TG does not sign there goes my stress release. This show is so terrific that i can watch re-runs every night and still love the show. I am really a Criminal Mind fanatic but not only for TG but for all case member but they are a team if CBS breaks it up they might as well stop it because like any other show that they let go one of the characters it is just not the same or interesting. I am so stressed right not knowing it is unbelievable.

I'm not nervous, I'm highly aggravated. If there is any chance that anyone at CBS/ABC Studios will see this message, this is what I want to say:
CM fans are LOYAL. You gave us a great show that was entertaining, educational and unique in its genre. You put it on the air and left it there to survive however well it could. The show recieved very little support from you. It has not been promoted nearly as well as many lesser shows. It was basically set into its time slot and forgotten about by the studios. Well, it more than survived, it thrived. It thrived because so many millions of us saw quality programming and became enthralled. We loved this show and the cast of this show.
Then came season 6. The entire season has been disappointment after mistake after fiasco. Yet we have held steady as fans because we believe, WANT to believe, that we can get back OUR show in the manner to which we grew accustomed.
And that manner is to have the cast that works so well together; Kirsten Vansgness, AJ Cook, Paget Brewster, Matthew Gray Gubler, Joe Mantegna and Shemar Moore as BAU agents led by THE UNIT LEADER played by Thomas Gibson.
This cast has the perfect balance of personalities and they have some of the best chemistry of any cast ever on a television show. Nothing else will suffice.
The fans are loyal. We can forgive and forget the travesty that was season 6, but we will never do either if we lose our beloved leader.
We have held strong, but our patience is wearing thin. We need a commitment from you in return of the commitment we have given you.
Get Mr. Gibson's contract settled. We are getting very restless here in Limbo.
Of course I'm nervous. I am so looking forward to seeing Hotch deal with the loss of Haley, the physical attack by Foyet and being a single dad, not to mention keeping Emily's secret. All I want is our original team back, all full time like in Seasons 1-4. TG deserves a fat raise for all he's done for CM. Without him, I won't watch, I couldn't bear a Hotchless show. :(

In CMFB chats and on Twitter, he is charming, witty, goofy, smart, and unfailingly polite and tactful (and people who know him describe him pretty much that way, so he's "being himself" as much as anyone is online).
It is Gibson's own personality shining through on Twitter that has gotten me so wound up about his contract as Hotchner. He just consistently seems like .... a nice guy.
I love my Hotch in CM, and I want the best for Mr. Gibson, who -- if he has a raging ego, hides it way better than 99% of the celebrities out there. He deserves good things.

I've been gone for a bit to come back to this!!! I thought by now I'd be coming back to news about Thomas getting a contract and Paget coming back, but it seems we are still doing the contract limbo dance. This is not only insulting to Thomas Gibson but also to all of the fans of CM. We've had to put up with a lot of the networks faulty and just plain horrific decision making this past season. I thought the whole idea behind getting AJ back was to start the process of correcting those horrific decisions. And now with Paget being free to come back, I suspect (hope) that it will only be a matter of time before we hear that the option to bring her back is being used.
I am thrilled that Shemar got a contract that he deserves but what the heck is going on with Thomas Gibson. You cannot seriously believe that we will believe that any sort of good faith effort to put the team back together is being made when there is a risk of Thomas Gibson not returning, do you. We are not asking for episodes filled with tons of special effects and car explosions. What we are asking for is what you so carelessly tore apart begininng with the elimination of some of the shows strongest writers at the end of season 4. Despite that blow, the majority of the fans returned because of the team, Hotch, Garcia, Morgan, Reid, Rossi, Prentiss and JJ. However, you ripped that team apart for no good reason and the results have been nothing short of disastrous.
Please complete the task it has been reported that you started when you rehired AJ. Come to a fair contract agreement with Thomas Gibson, get Paget back, and let's roll with the team (Hotch, Garcia, Morgan, Reid, Rossi, Prentiss and JJ) otherwise you can count on the fact that I too will stop watching Criminal Minds.

I doubt his ego is any bigger than anyone elses. I have no idea what the sticking points are in this negotiation, but I would think that for TG, he's at a point in his life and his professional career and with this show where yes, he'd love to return, but only under his terms and if those terms can't be met then that's okay too. I think that's fine and that it doesn't hurt to try to get whatever you can from a new contract and if it doesn't work out then it doesn't.
If that happens I'll just happily wish TG the best and not watch the show anymore because it just wouldn't be the same without Hotch. To me though, what's happening right now is just business and if it doesn't work out, if the two sides can't reach an agreement and the network decides to let him go, it's nobody's fault, it's just the way the game is played. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose.
In my opinion, and perhaps a lot of CM fans will agree, one of the most significant factors why Criminal Minds is such a hit is because of THOMAS GIBSON's character. C'mon CBS, please don't let go of Hotch!!! Thomas Gibson is such a good character actor!! Needless to say, he's brilliant (in playing) as Aaron Hotchner!
Not nervous so much as pissed off: if this isn't a tactic to sustain suspense till the finale, it's dismaying to have to conclude that CBS seemingly still doesn't get it. I really have no new words for them: re-sign Thomas Gibson, bring back the entire pre-Season 6 cast & then leave the show alone, please.

Notice though she only says "slated" to return and she has her fingers crossed that nothing changes. My guess, she might not have a guarantee on a full season of episodes. Which means she could only be on the first few episodes to allow a transition, i.e., maybe Prentiss coming back and then Seaver leaving.

On Seaver, the guys from the FBI said in chat last week that it takes 7 years in the Bureau to qualify for the BAU. So ... fresh out of the academy? An even less believable character than (don't hit me) Spencer Reid.
I like the actress OK and I wish her well. In her tweets, she says that she's slated to come back.
It is possible that she's only coming back for a "departure arc" to give her character closure.
I can't say that I will follow TG wherever he goes. There's some stuff he's done that I have no interest in watching now [::shudder:: Flintstones, anybody?].
But the character of Hotchner is the thing that most makes CM be CM to me. It would not be the same show.

I love this show, but I would have a really *really* hard time watching it without Thomas. I don't like to count chickens and such, but I dare say I'd stop watching if Hotch were no longer with the BAU.
Fabiannawashington, I feel the same way. Not knowing is agonizing. Unless an answer comes before the episode airs, I'm not going to be thinking about the case or anything like that when I watch. I'll be wondering if I'll see bad news online after the episode airs. Or will I see it tomorrow? Or how long will the agonizing not knowing last? Of course, getting an answer can only be an improvement on not knowing if it's the right answer.
All I want for next season is the whole cast together and a season finale with everyone eating ice cream and discussing the long 100% guaranteed future they'll have in the BAU.

I understand that this may be a long process, but seriously, afetr last summer, CBS is running this cast game again. Although I cannot say for sure, I highly doubt that Thomas Gibson is asking for 2 million dollars an episode, so what is the hold up????
Also, what is the story with Paget? I've read in different articles where it says that the network has an option fo her to return. I cannot imagine that they would not use that option and instead continue to saddle us with the Seaver character. If this option route gets Paget (Emily Prentiss) back, then what is the hold up??? I want the team back. To clarify, that means Hotch, Morgan, Rossi, JJ, Reid, Prentiss and Garcia. I have not warmed up to Seaver and never will, just being honest as her character is a total misfit and distraction. Sorry, just being honest.
If all of this madness that the network set in motion is not cleared up by season 7, I will have to bid a fond farewell to Criminal Minds and resign myself to watching seasons 1- 5 on DVD. Please CBS correct your heinous season 6 mistakes as soon as possible.

I have NEVER missed an episode from the beginning. Watch reruns on weekends but Thomas Gibson (and Shemar) are non-negotiable. I will stop watching if either or both are no longer with the show. As much as I love "JJ"' can do without her before Hotchner and Morgan. GivenThomas a contract and stop messing with a great and consistent formula!! Fans will abandon the show if you do not give us Hotchner.

I've been a loyal fan since the first season and seen my poor show deteriorate this season. I missed the female characters but most of all I missed Hotch at his best: out front and leading. Not nearly enough of TG and it showed. If CBS thinks they can get away without resigning him, they are seriously mistaken. I certainly will walk away.
I really hope the finale wasn't the finale for Thomas. If it is, it was the show finale for me. No TG, no more CM that I care to see.

Like so many others I'm totally sick of CBS ruining our show. A viewer can only take so much and I'm just about at the end of my rope. Hotch is my favorite character and I just want to join in in saying that i will dump the show if he isn't back full time next year. Please just give him a great contract and leave us alone.
Garcia is my fave but I've got a big crush on Hotch and as much as it kills me to admit it, if he isn't back and a big part of s7 i won't watch. :( He's just too important to our team.
I don't understand CBS not having negotiated with TG by now. They went through a lot of suspense and drama keeping him after the Season 5 finale when he was shot by The Reaper and brought him back in Season 6 because they realized that he was critical to the show. It's ridiculous that they are dragging their feet now. What demands coud TG be making that has CBS hemming and hawing? They should be making every effort to hammer this thing out. My 2 cents...
Writers. Actresses. Now our leading man who has done nothing other than give emmy-deserving performances for 6 years even when shoved into the background. He promotes CM at every chance and is great to his THOUSANDS of fans. Don't take the heart out of CM. Do so and you'll lose this intensely loyal fan.

I love the chemistry and family feel to CM. I love all the team but not equally. The sexy, dark-haired Unit Chief has always been my fave and as much as I'd like to say I'd stay with such a great show, if Thomas isn't back, I wouldn't be either. Especially since TG has been clear he wants to be back. Come on CBS, you cleared ridiculous profits, show our main man some love. And us too!

It's sad to see CBS going down that road again. What has CM ever done to deserve such bad treatment from the network? You don't want the show anymore? You don't need to tear it apart CBS. Give it back to ABC, I'm sure they would love it and appreciate it! It makes me sick that CBS keeps mistreating CM, doesn't show any respect to the actors or the fans. If they go ahead and cut Thomas Gibson I will stop watching, even though he's not my favorite. Next time it WILL be my favorite. I'm done with that!

I watch Criminal Minds because I think Morgan is hot, Reid is cute and Hotch is handsome. I love all three of them in different ways and I just can't picture a show without one of them. I was so relieved when Shemar signed his extension. I just hope on something positive for Gibson as well. I don't want to imagine a show without Hotch, it's just too painful.
When I saw my first episode of Criminal Minds it was one of the episodes after Mandy Patinkin had left the show, but before Joe Mantegna had come on board. The first person I noticed was the handsome, tall man in the tie who was so serious and authentic in his role. As much as I love Joe and am glad that he's on the show, Thomas Gibson could've carried the show without any help, just as he did before Joe arrived as Rossi. So to even think of not showing Thomas the respect of re-signing him to a great contract so the fans can continue to enjoy his presence--and hopefully a stronger presence as the lead from now on--is disgusting and just doesn't make sense to me. I simply will not watch Criminal Minds if Thomas isn't re-signed and back for season 7.

I'm so frustrated that I'm tempted to write an epic rant. But my mother taught me that if I can't say something nice, I shouldn't say anything at all. So, i will be brief. If Mr. Gibson is not back full time and in the foreground for s7, not hidden in the police station, I will walk and I will take a lot of my friends with me. We love the team but we love hotch more.

Totally outraged. I can't believe we're going through this for the 3rd year in a row. It is completely unwarranted. Go tinker with your CSI series and leave us alone... after you sign our wonderful TG! Show won't be CM without him; it may continue, but not with this fan. Hotch rocks and I want more!

I was so excited to hear that Paget was probably coming back. But then Thomas doesn't have a contract. It would be a great great S7 IF ALL of our original cast are back full time. Hotch and Paget are my favorites so that would really make my day! Please bring TG back and give him a fair contract.
Maybe we should start an educational fund for the CBS masterminds. They don't seem to get business, viewers or basic rules of the market. They may still be one of the top networks but their total viewership is going down. The bone heads at the top have no clue what people watch or what people want. All the blunders they did with the people/characters on CM just go to prove the point. It would be just like them to top it all off with the releasing of Thomas Gibson. I don't have much faith in them. I wish to god they prove me wrong.
