CRIMINAL MINDS: SHEMAR MOORE AKA DEREK MORGAN
Criminal Minds: Here is a link for a yahoo group that I belong to for Shemar Moore who is currently starring as Derek Morgan. They are a great group of fans and very knowledgeable about all things Shemar: http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/Shemar_Moore/
MATTHEW GRAY GUBLER: DR. SPENCER REID
Criminal Minds: Matthew Gray Gubler: Dr. Spencer Reid had the majority of admirers in last night's chat. I wonder why? Not really. He is as cute a bug and extremely sweet. Matthew Gubler does a fantastic job portraying Reid and while I know many fans would like to see him start a relationship with J.J. (A.J. Cook) I don't think from what we have read that that will be happening. I bet the New Year will hold many more wonderful Criminal Minds episodes for all of us. Thanks to the cast, crew and network for such a wonderful show. I hope everyone has a safe and healthy New Year. :)
CRIMINAL MINDS: MANDY PATINKIN
Criminal Minds: I had a great time in last night's chat. One of the things we talked about was that the characters and actors on the show are all so unique and different from each other that there is something or someone for everyone to like. When we talked about Mandy Patinkin we noted that in both Chicago Hope and Criminal Minds he has portrayed strong willed mentally vulnerable men with horrible past life experiences. Kudos to Mandy Patinkin for his brilliant performances. :)

CRIMINAL MINDS: HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MEREDITH MONROE:
Happy Birthday to Meredith Monroe aka Mrs. Aaron Hotchner on Criminal Minds. "Born in Houston, Texas and raised in Hinsdale, Illinois, actress Meredith Monroe is best-known for her 1998-2000 regular role on The WB's hit "Dawson's Creek". As Andie McPhee, the lithe blonde impressed Joshua Jackson's Pacey as well as viewers as Capeside's bright and charming new entrant. Positively gregarious in comparison to her somber onscreen brother Jack (played by Kerr Smith) and the other stars of the popular drama, Monroe was a lively addition. Her initial entry into series television was less successful, however, becoming a regular on ABC's "Dangerous Minds" in 1997 just weeks before the end of the drama's short run. Monroe followed up with guest spots on programs including "The Magnificent Seven" and "Promised Land" (both CBS) in 1998. A familiar face due to her extensive commercial work, she was cast in the title role of "Beyond the Prairie: The True Story of Laura Ingalls Wilder" (CBS, 1999), starring in this biopic about the author's years as a young wife. Presently guest starring as Hayley Hotchner on "Criminal Minds".
THOMAS GIBSON: BEFORE CRIMINAL MINDS THERE WAS DHARMA & GREG
For Stacy who has been busy watching and capping "Dharma and Greg" and is over the moon hooked on Thomas Gibson (Aaron Hotchner). I hope that you are feeling better soon. :)
CRIMINAL MINDS YAHOO GROUP: THANK YOU.
As the year comes to an end I would like to thank the members of my Criminal Minds Yahoo Group for months of friendship and fun. During the month of December the group has posted almost 900 messages and not once did anyone snipe, gripe, act rudely or disrespectfully to any other member. You are a shining example of the best in the world of fandom. People from all over the world coming together to share a common interest. It has truly been my pleasure to meet all of you and I look forward to getting to know everybody even better in the New Year. Jill :)

CRIMINAL MINDS RATINGS FOR "THE FISHER KING, PART TWO".
CBS Perpetrates Thursday Win
Crime-drama repeats rule the night
December 29, 2006
Three solid hours of crime and punishment, all of it the rerun variety, carried CBS to an easy ratings win Thursday night.
CBS averaged a 7.3 rating/12 share in primetime, far and away the best numbers of the night. ABC, 4.8/8, was second in households, although FOX (4.6/8) had more total viewers, 7.23 million to 7.07 million. NBC took fourth with a 3.3/6, and The CW trailed at 1.5/3.
In the adults 18-49 demographic, CBS' 2.9 rating was enough to hold off FOX, 2.8, for the top spot. ABC finished third at 2.4, followed by NBC, 2.1, and The CW, 1.0.
A "Criminal Minds" repeat, 6.5/11, put CBS in the lead at 8 p.m. ABC's "Ugly Betty" rerun was second for the hour. FOX got a 4.1/7 from the movie "Sweet Home Alabama" to finish third, edging reruns of "My Name Is Earl," 4.4/7, and "The Office," 3.6/6, on NBC (which nonetheless had a few more viewers than FOX). "Smallville" earned a 1.6/3 for The CW.
"CSI," 8.8/14, pulled in the night's biggest audience for CBS at 9 p.m. A "Grey's Anatomy" repeat scored a 5.3/9 for ABC, while FOX's movie improved to 5.2/8 and beat ABC in viewers. Reruns of "Scrubs" and "30 Rock" averaged 2.7/4 for NBC. A "Supernatural" repeat on The CW was fifth.
At 10 p.m., CBS' "Shark" delivered a 6.5/11. A "Men in Trees" repeat averaged 4.5/8 for ABC, and NBC's "ER" came in at 3.3/6.

How hard must it have been for Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness) to walk into that conference room and confess to her coleagues that she had caused the security breach that had allowed the Fisher King to access their personal information? I don't think I have ever seem Jason Gideon (Mandy Patinkin) so mad. And of course he followed it up by having what appeared to be a small nervous breakdown. Wonderful performance by Kirsten Vangsness. I could feel her pain. But never understimate the wonder that is Garcia.............she found a lead. :)

CRIMINAL MINDS: NEW YORK TIMES ARTICLE
December 20, 2006
The Surefire TV Formula: Ape the Boss
By ALESSANDRA STANLEY
All the top CBS dramas are alike.
They showcase an omniscient, workaholic and male boss on the dark side of 50 who is surrounded by young, eager-to-please acolytes.
The template is so unvarying that Bill Carter of The New York Times and other television writers subscribe to a man-in-the-Moonves theory of programming: Leslie Moonves, the 57-year-old chief executive of CBS, has an Ozymandian hold on his network that ensures that its top shows pay subliminal homage to his leadership.
But the generation-spanning formula behind CBS’s three iterations of “CSI” as well as “Shark,” “Without a Trace,” “Criminal Minds” and “NCIS” also casts a broad demographic net. That may contribute to its success: “Criminal Minds” and “NCIS” are among the top-rated series on television, and the popularity of “Criminal Minds” is growing so steadily that CBS decided to show it immediately after the Super Bowl on Feb. 4.
Still it is a little puzzling that in the era of HBO, Showtime and serialized dramas like “24,” “Lost” and “Heroes,” these by-the-numbers whodunits (and “Numb3rs” is another one of them, though the father figure played by Judd Hirsch is actually the father and not quite as godly) still have such strong — and apparently growing — appeal. They don’t receive many critical accolades or industry awards, but they rake in the ratings.
Networks, like serial killers, tend to develop patterns. At the moment ABC is the estrogen-pumping network, fixated on sex and swoony romance from “Desperate Housewives” to “Grey’s Anatomy” to “Men in Trees.”
But it turns out that blood, guts and sexual perversion also can be soothing and downright cozy.
CBS offers viewers gruesome murders and revolting autopsies that are softened by familiar, endearing protagonists who wrap up the mystery by episode’s end, without cliffhangers or unexpected twists. It’s “Silence of the Lambs” by way of “Murder, She Wrote.”
“Criminal Minds” and “NCIS” stand out as the two extremes of the template. “Criminal Minds,” in which Jason Gideon (Mandy Patinkin) and a team of elite F.B.I. profilers channel the psychoses of serial killers, is the most disturbing. “NCIS,” on the other hand, is almost disturbingly goofy.
Led by Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon), the crack members of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service confront terrorism, murder and espionage with a loosey-goosey insouciance. When a colleague is inexplicably late for work, the team’s lithe and lethal Mossad-trained agent Ziva David (Cote de Pablo), warns that it could mean trouble. “When I was framed by the Iranians for murder,” she says perkily, “I was late for many hours before anyone even noticed.”
Humor on the forensic trail is provided by kooky characters in lab coats. On “NCIS” Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette) is a wisecracking science geek in Goth clothing, while David McCallum plays a leering, know-it-all medical examiner, Dr. Donald (Ducky) Mallard.
Almost all CBS crime shows have at least one pet eccentric: “Criminal Minds” leavens the gravity with its own crazy lab lady, Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness), a computer wizard in oversized glasses and kooky earrings, and a cute, socially backward boy genius, Special Agent Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler).
On “NCIS” even the front-line investigators are laid-back and comical. Special Agent Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) is a handsome, ex-homicide detective with the sensibility and speaking style of a frat boy on spring break. “You have the right to remain silent,” Tony says as he arrests a homicidal cheerleader. “You have the right to do splits. You have the right to wear a short skirt.”
Partly the show’s levity comes from one of its creators, Donald P. Bellisario, who also was responsible for “JAG.” Jerry Bruckheimer, who is the executive producer of “CSI” and “Without a Trace,” takes crime much more seriously. But Mr. Moonves, a former actor who played mostly villains on series like “Cannon” and made a cameo appearance as himself in an episode of “The Practice” on ABC, still exercises his expertise in selecting and developing series and also casting the leads. And the tone of each CBS drama seems to adapt to the stars chosen by Mr. Moonves.
Mr. Harmon is the older, wiser leader of “NCIS,” but he is still a boyishly handsome actor who is best when playing lighthearted heroes. Mr. Patinkin, whose résumé includes “Chicago Hope” and “Dead Like Me,” is more lugubrious, and “Criminal Minds” is accordingly grim and self-serious. (Team members agonize over the horrors they have seen, and they quote Milan Kundera.)
As angst-ridden Jack Malone, Anthony LaPaglia darkens the mood on “Without a Trace,” while on “Shark,” James Woods, playing Sebastian Stark, a defense attorney turned prosecutor, infuses his show with snappy sarcasm.
There are not many laughs on “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” or its spinoffs, though there are some inadvertently funny moments on “CSI: Miami,” which stars David Caruso as the smug, sulfurous Horatio Caine. (A recent episode featured a female Islamic terrorist who appeared in court wearing a slinky, low-cut little black dress. Chador, schmador. )
None of these older bosses are bald. (“3 Lbs,” which starred a shiny-pated Stanley Tucci, was canceled after three shows.) CBS’s older men have luxuriant heads of hair and are single and married to their work, which allows young, beautiful women to fall in love with them without tainting the sexual tension with the stain of adultery.
Mr. Moonves recently married Julie Chen, an anchor of CBS’s “Early Show.” Several CBS dramas deal with the issue of nepotism, perhaps signaling concerns buried deep in the network’s unconscious.
On “Criminal Minds” Paget Brewster plays Emily Prentiss, the daughter of well-connected government officials who has to try harder to prove herself to her boss. She always does. On “NCIS” Ziva regularly demonstrates that her dedication and natural abilities, not her high-ranking relatives in Tel Aviv, won her the team’s trust. And on “Shark,” Sebastian is constantly hazing Casey Woodland (Sam Page), a rich, handsome assistant district attorney with friends and family in high places. Despite all his advantages, it turns out Casey has real flair in court.
CBS also has some crime dramas with women in the lead roles, notably “Cold Case” and “Close to Home,” but in those, the formula falls off: the heroines are wiser but invariably young and pretty and mostly blond. “Bones” is similar, but Fox left out the older male authority figure.
At CBS that kind of omission would be considered lèse-Moonves.

CRIMINAL MINDS: INTERESTING ARTICLE
The Dark and Mysterious World of 'Criminal Minds'
December 20, 2006
Cast members insist the show is different from other procedural dramas because the crimes are solved by using psychology instead of forensics.
Murder, serial killers and ... psychology? For years, the "CSI" shows have tracked down killers through forensic science, but "Criminal Minds" uses profiling to catch the murdering scum of America.
The drama centers on a group of F.B.I. profilers in the Behavioral Analysis Unit (B.A.U.), who solve twisted and high-stakes serial murders across the country by getting inside the psyche of the criminals.
"It's dark, mysterious and weird but very real," said SHEMAR MOORE, who plays Agent Derek Morgan, when asked why he thinks the show is so appealing. What's really kind of eerie and humbling about it is it's based on real life. There are girls getting raped, there are children getting molested, people are dying. [Also] there's somebody on the team you can relate to, no matter who you are."
A new character viewers may relate to is Agent Emily Prentiss (PAGET BREWSTER), who joins the team after the recent departure of Agent Elle Greenaway (LOLA GLAUDINI).
"Paget's a doll. I'm not going to compare her to Lola, who's on to bigger and better things in New York. This is Hollywood and the show must go on," Moore confessed. "Paget brings a whole different sensibility. This machine's already rolling and she's been real good about jumping on board. Everybody's really finding their own identity, and it makes for a colorful group. "
The show may have a colorful group, but so do a lot of other crime shows, right? AJ COOK, who plays Agent Jennifer "JJ" Jareau, insists that "Criminal Minds" is different from other procedural dramas.
"We get thrown in the procedural heap and I think our show's a little bit different. I think it's more of a thriller," Cook explained. "I think we're different from the 'CSI's because we're trying to save [the victims], whereas in 'CSI' the people are dead. So there's the element of the clock. We're racing against time."
Moore, who starred on "The Young & the Restless," also believes "Criminal Minds" is different from any show he's appeared on in the past.
"This is the biggest stretch of my life because it's a character that's so far removed from who I really am. A lot of the characters I've played are a little more streetwise," he revealed. "I'd [also] never shot a gun in my real life until I got this job, and now I've gone to the range a few times just to feel what it's like to hold, use and respect a weapon."
Currently in its second season, the show is only growing more popular. In November, it beat "Lost," the biggest competitor in its Wednesday night timeslot, in total viewers.
"I'm excited that we beat 'Lost' because I think that if nothing else, people are paying attention," Moore shared. "I'm more excited that people who wrote us off as just another procedural are now finally giving us credit."

CRIMINAL MINDS: ASK AUSIELLO SNIPPET.
Question: I hear you're the man to go to if you want scoop on your favorite TV shows, so please give me something on Criminal Minds. — Ashley
Ausiello: I am indeed that man. Minds has signed David Carradine and Amy Madigan to guest-star in a February-sweeps episode. "David is playing the most prolific serial killer ever, and Amy is his love interest," says exec producer Ed Bernero. "[Her character] is the reason we get involved in the case." While I had Bernero on the phone, I asked him why Minds has thus far resisted the temptation to throw its characters in bed together. "I was a cop in Chicago, and you have interests outside of the job. These are the people they work with; they're not necessarily going to screw them all. They have [other lives]. I just don’t see it happening. We have some flirtations. We have a flirtation between Shemar's character and the Garcia character. Certainly the women on this show can tell that Shemar is a handsome guy, but I don't see anybody jumping into bed together."

Why Paget Brewster Simply Had to Join Criminal Minds
by Deborah Starr Seibel
Paget Brewster, Criminal Minds
As Gideon's squad of serial crime fighters adds sexy Paget Brewster to their ranks, TV Guide debriefs the former Mrs. Huff on what exactly her Criminal Minds (Wednesdays at 9 pm/ET) mission entails. (Psst... it apparently involves "fancy footwork" with the boss.)
TV Guide: What convinced you to sign up for Criminal Minds?
Paget Brewster: I was in New Orleans shooting a movie, and I called my agent and said, "I've been doing my laundry in hotel bathtubs for three months, and I'm lonely. I haven't seen my family or friends. I want to be on a TV show — I want to be home at five." He called a week later and said, "Would you meet with Criminal Minds?"
TV Guide: So it must have gone well.
Brewster: I met with [executive producers] Ed Bernero and Mark Gordon and a bunch of the writers, and they asked me if I knew anything about profiling. I'm personally obsessed with it, so when they started talking about a particular case, I said, "Oh, that's David Ray, the Toolbox Killer." And they were silent. They said, "Do you really know about this stuff?" And I said, "Yeah, I really do."
TV Guide: Please explain!
Brewster: I did a talk show in San Francisco [The Paget Show, 1994-95] that was on at 1:30 in the morning, a time when delusional schizophrenics are watching TV. And I had a couple of stalkers. Once one of them broke into the station, and I was locked into a bathroom while they were looking for him. He got away.
TV Guide: What was your emotional response to that?
Brewster: It was terror. It changes you completely, the way you think. I learned as much as I could about paranoid schizophrenics and obsessive derangement. It's that old saying: Know your enemy.
TV Guide: So you fit right in on Criminal Minds as Special Agent Emily Prentiss?
Brewster: They were looking to bring in a female agent who was unknown to the unit. Ed said, "As writers we've grown complacent about who these people are, and we need to shake it up." It's the nicest way to join a cast because my character is feeling exactly the way I'm feeling, which is, "Please accept me, because I want to be here." And it's just heaven. I get to dance with Mandy Patinkin in between takes, and he sings in my ear.
TV Guide: You also have a TNT movie, A Perfect Day, with Rob Lowe (encoring tonight at 10 pm/ET). Compare Lowe to Patinkin.
Brewster: This is the second time I've worked with Rob! [They costarred in 2000's The Specials, a low-budget superhero comedy.] Rob has a dirtier sense of humor — he and his wife are just bawdy and sexy. Mandy? He's so talented and quiet, but then he fires off these jokes that are so funny, you don't even know where they came from. And he's a better dancer than Rob.

CRIMINAL MINDS: SHEMAR MOORE: TALENTED, HANDSOME & FRESH!
I rewatched Criminal Minds episode "Profiler, Profiled" last night. I was so impressed with Shemar Moore's performance as Derek Morgan when I first watched the episode earlier this week. Rewatching the episode I was even more struck but the flawless performance Shemar turned in. Sometimes you have to rewatch an episode to really take it all in. At least that is how it is with me. I think the entire episode was great. Dr. Spencer Reid's (Matthew Gray Gubler)'s magic trick was great. My favorite line from the episode was Gideon (Mandy Patinkin) asking Hotchner (Thomas Gibson) if he wanted them to profile him. I am sure that Hotch's answer would be no. :)

CRIMINAL MINDS: RATINGS INFO FOR THIS WEEK.
Wednesday: 'Loser' Is Winner For NBC, CBS Close Second
by Wayne Friedman, Friday, Dec 15, 2006
REALITY SHOWS AIRING FINALES OUT of the November sweeps period have scored. Early in the week, CBS did well with "Amazing Race." Now, it's NBC's turn with "The Biggest Loser."
The third season of the program, "The Biggest Loser 3" won its two-hour time period as well as giving NBC a win for Wednesday night. In fact, it was the second-best-rated show on the night. "Loser" won with a Nielsen preliminary 4.8 rating/13 share in adults 18-49. For the night, NBC earned a leading 4.4/12.
The only other network contender for the night was CBS. "King of Queens" pulled down a 3.2/9; "Criminal Minds" improved on that to a 4.7/12; and "CSI: NY" went higher with a 4.9/14. All this had CBS just missing out on beating NBC, coming in with a 4.3/12.
Other networks were well behind the leaders. Fox aired an original and a repeat of "Bones, which gave it a 2.6/7 number for the night.
ABC sank lower--none of its shows topped a 2.0 rating. "Show Me The Money" and "Day Break" continue to trend down, with a 1.6/5 and a 1.4/4, respectively. The network's 10 p.m. hour "Primetime: Basic Instinct" didn't do much better at a 1.8/5.
Univision, with 1.4/4, and the CW, with a 1.0/3, brought up the rear.

CRIMINAL MINDS: THOMAS GIBSON AS AARON HOTCHNER
Personally I would like to see Thomas Gibson's character Aaron Hotchner on Criminal Minds mellow out a bit. He is way too intense. :)

CRIMINAL MINDS: MUSIC TITLES FROM "PSYCHODRAMA".
CRIMINAL MINDS: MATTHEW GUBLER AKA DR. SPENCER REID
The difference in the way Matthew Gray Gubler (Criminal Minds) and his character Dr. Spencer Reid dress is the difference between night and day. I can't imagine what the looks on the faces of Jason Gideon, Aaron Hotchner, Derek Morgan, J.J. and Garcia would be if Reid every walked into the BAU looking like Matthew does in this picture. :)
CRIMINAL MINDS: CBS NEEDS TO FRESHEN UP THEIR WEBSITE.
Criminal Minds: Now that Criminal Minds has proven themselves as a winning show for CBS I think the network needs to update and improve their website page for the show. If you look at the pages for some of their less popular shows you will see a wealth of pictures and information. Their Criminal Minds page could not be more boring if they had purposely set out to make it bad. :)

CRIMINAL MINDS: MATTHEW GUBLER AT THE PREMIERE FOR "RV".
Matthew Gubler is terrific as Dr. Spencer Reid on "Criminal Minds" but his part in the movie "RV" is very small and the movie, in my opinion, was really bad. This is not a movie I will be adding to my video library anytime soon but here are the details for those of you who are interested. Quoting IMDB: "Plot Summary for RV (2006): Bob Munro is the dad of a dysfunctional family. He hires an RV to take the family on vacation. However Bob is NOT the best RV steering wheel operator in the neighborhood and the hilarity is added on by the fact that the brakes are about as useful as a chocolate fireguard. Bob first realizes it when the RV rolls (not literally) backwards into a line of shopping carts. Also Bob's job is in danger if he doesn't go to a very important meeting. Before you can say "COME BACK! COME BACK!," things go gloriously, hilariously, Munro-annoyingly wrong due to the lack of brakes, Bob's job, toilet waste not cleared out from the last rental and more hilarious stuff". If you would like even more info on this movie please follow this link: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0449089/
CRIMINAL MINDS: LOLA GLAUDINI 2006 PROJECT
Ex Criminal Minds co-star Lola Glaudini (Elle Greenaway)has a 2006 in production. According to IMDB here are the highlights of that project: "Drive-Thru" (2006): Directed by Brendan Cowles and Shane Kuhn. Genre: Comedy/Horror. Plot Outline: Horror gets Super Sized when Horny The Clown, the demonic mascot of "Hella-Burger," starts slashing Orange County teenagers with his meat cleaver from Hell". It doesn't sound like my kind of movie but it sounds like it will appeal to horror film watchers. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0466766/ is the link if you would like more information on this film. :)

CRIMINAL MINDS: "PROFILER, PROFILED" AIRING DEC. 13TH.
Criminal Minds will be airing "Profiler, Profiled" on Wednesday, December 13th. "Morgan is arrested as a serial killer after he goes home to Chicago to see his family. Because the detective making the arrest had used a profile provided by Gideon after studying the case, the teams travels to Chicago to free Morgan and to find the real serial killer". (episode information thanks to cbs.com). It sounds like we are finally getting the Shemar Moore episode that we have been hoping for. :)

CRIMINAL MINDS'S NEWEST CAST MEMBER PAGET BREWSTER
Paget Brewster's character Emily Prentiss has not been embraced yet by the majority of Criminal Minds's fans. Since she has only been viewed in two episodes it is probably premature to dislike her already but I spent a few minutes yesterday night cruising some of the fan websites and it seems like the prevailing opinion on this character is not positive. I too must admit that so far I am not impressed. I was not a big Elle Greenaway (Lola Glaudini) fan and I do not think that is the reason behind my having a hard time accepting this new character. I think it may have to do more with the way Emily was thrust into the BAU without the endorsement of Jason Gideon (Mandy Patinkin) or Aaron Hotchner (Thomas Gibson) or her constant use of the word sir. Does anyone have any thoughts?

CRIMINAL MINDS: LOLA GLAUDINI INFORMATION
Criminal Minds
Executive Producer Ed Bernero comments on Lola Glaudini leaving the show: “It was definitely a mutual decision. We were looking for a way to shake the cast up a little bit, and she really wanted to go home. She lives in New York and really wanted to go home and do theater. She didn’t love being here in Los Angeles. It was a very amicable parting.” As far as the show acting like Elle never existed, Bernero says that, because of the way Minds works, it wouldn’t have made sense to refer back to the character’s exit. “We don’t follow the sort of ‘It’s the next week’ [rule]. We just look at it as this is another case. For instance, she was shot in the first episode, and the next episode it was six months later. I imagine if there’s an opportunity to mention her, it would happen, but there’s really been no reason to.” reported by Michael Ausiello

OFF TOPIC INFO REGARDING AMAZON.COM
Amazon.com is having a huge TV show DVD sale right now. I purchased Season One of "Without a Trace" directly from them (not one of the vendors) for $8.85. I browsed some of the other heavily discounted titles and they were all very popular shows. Some of Mandy Patinkin's movies are discounted. I think the sale only lasts a few days so you might want to take a look and see if you can do some of your holiday shopping with them. I just wanted to give you a heads up. :)

CRIMINAL MINDS DOESN'T NEED TO WORRY ABOUT GETTING "LOST" ANYMORE.
In February, ABC will move 'Lost' to Wednesdays at 10 to avoid direct competition with Fox's 'American Idol.'ABC is moving "Lost" out of the way of the "American Idol" juggernaut.
ABC on Tuesday unveiled a January sked that has the spooky Wednesday drama moving back an hour to 10 p.m. when it returns Feb. 7. Shift -- the third timeslot for the show in as many years -- ensures the skein won't have to battle the Fox behemoth.
A year ago, "Lost" scored boffo numbers at 9 p.m. during the fall but took a notable ratings hit once "Idol" returned in January. Skein has since held steady in the ratings, but ABC execs clearly don't want to risk further slippage.
Net's affils should be happy with the shift. With "Lost" at 10 p.m., ABC will likely deliver local stations their best new lead-in numbers for the slot in years.
In addition to shielding "Lost" from "Idol," ABC is also protecting it from rising CBS drama "Criminal Minds" and NBC's "Deal or No Deal," which moves into the 9 p.m. Wednesday slot next month.
As for what will compete against "Idol," ABC has decided that laughter -- and games -- are the best medicine. Net has slotted its laffer "Knights of Prosperity" Wednesdays at 9 p.m., directly against the "Idol" results show. It'll be paired at 9:30 with another new comedy, "In Case of Emergency."
Laffer hour is set to debut Jan. 3, a month before "Day Break" was set to end its run. ABC News programming will fill the 10 p.m. Wednesday slot in January before "Lost" returns.
"Day Break" will either be yanked after its Dec. 27 broadcast or moved to another night. No word on what will happen with the remaining five episodes of the skein, if ABC doesn't move the show to a new night.
ABC will round out its Wednesday lineup with new episodes of "George Lopez" and "According to Jim" from 8-9 p.m. Net will double-pump "Jim" for a few weeks starting Jan. 3, with "George" bowing Jan. 24 at 8 p.m.

CRIMINAL MINDS: CBS PRESS RELEASE
"CRIMINAL MINDS" GETS SUPER SUNDAY TIME PERIOD
Television's Fastest Growing Drama To Be Broadcast Immediately Following CBS Sports Coverage of Super Bowl XLI on Sunday, Feb. 4
CBS announced today that its sophomore sensation CRIMINAL MINDS, television's fastest-growing drama, will get a special broadcast immediately following CBS Sports coverage of Super Bowl XLI on Sunday, Feb. 4.
"In just a couple of months, 'Criminal Minds' has gone from our unsung hero to a Top 10 series," said Nina Tassler, President of CBS Entertainment. "Millions of viewers are discovering it every week and obviously they like what they see. This is an outstanding opportunity to expose a series that is young in its life cycle and on the rise to an enormous universe of potential new viewers."
CRIMINAL MINDS, which revolves around an elite team of FBI profilers who analyze criminals minds and anticipate their next moves before they strike again, ranks No. 7 among all primetime programs and averages 16.8 million viewers, a +25% increase versus its comparable freshman season performance (13.78m), the largest increase among all returning dramas.
Broadcast in the highly-competitive Wednesday (9:00-10:00 PM) time period opposite "Lost," CRIMINAL MINDS has surged ahead of the ABC series in its last two head-to-head match-ups, even beating "Lost" 's highly promoted fall finale.
In key demographics, CRIMINAL MINDS is up +23% in adults 18-49 (4.8 vs. 3.9) and +24% in adults 25-54 (6.3 vs. 5.1) versus a year ago.
On Wednesday (Nov. 29), CRIMINAL MINDS delivered its largest audience with 17.95 million viewers and matched its second highest adult 18-49 rating (5.0/13).
CRIMINAL MINDS stars Mandy Patinkin, Thomas Gibson, Paget Brewster, Shemar Moore, Matthew Gray Gubler, A.J. Cook and Kirsten Vangsness. Mark Gordon, Ed Bernero and Deborah Spera are executive producers for Touchstone Television in association with CBS Paramount Network Television.

CRIMINAL MINDS: ANOTHER GREAT ARTICLE
Gripping plots
By GORDON KHO
There are some TV shows like Desperate Housewives and Lost that create a lot of buzz from the get go. The buzz could be due to its original content, clever writing or/and great performance by the actors.
Then, there are some shows like Law and Order: Special Victims Unit (SVU) that don’t draw as much attention. There’s neither buzz nor hype. Now, that does not mean that it is less interesting. SVU steadily offers gripping episodes each week and the series has gone to win many accolades in award shows.
Criminal Minds falls into the latter category. No one thought much of this series when it made its debut on American TV last year. After all, it fell under the crime drama genre and TV land is already besieged by shows of this nature. Take your pick – CSI, Numbers, Monk, Without a Trace and of course, Law and Order.
However, without the buzz and hype, Criminal Minds has slowly developed into one of the most riveting series on TV. This under-the-radar show is now being recognised by critics and TV audience.
“I always love it when my audience has their expectations in the toilet,” joked Mandy Patinkin, who plays Special Agent Jason Gideon, on the set of Criminal Minds in Culver City, Los Angeles recently.
Criminal Minds stars Mandy Patinkin as one of the members of an elite squad of FBI profilers.
“If you already start with such low expectations, then you can’t go further down. I like we’re not on the cover of every magazine, because, you know, often times those are flash-in-the-pans when that happen.”
In the rating war, it was reported recently that Criminal Minds beat Lost in terms of viewership. While Patinkin has no idea why legion of viewers are tuning into Criminal Minds, insiders have attributed the success of the show to audience not wanting to be hooked on a dense plot. Procedural series triumphs over serialised dramas, the trend tells us.
Criminal Minds is set in Quantico, Virginia, at the Behaviorial Analysis Unit. When the FBI can’t solve a crime, they turn to the agents in this unit for help. While regular detectives study the evidence of a crime, this unit looks at the behaviour of the criminal to narrow down the suspect pool.
Gideon is the bureau’s top behavioural analyst. He is assisted by a motley crew who bring their own area of expertise to the case in hopes of solving the crime as fast as they can.
Among the other actors in the show include Thomas Gibson as the bureau’s chief, Aaron Hotch, daytime soap opera star Shemar Moore as Derek Morgan and former model Matthew Gray Gubler as the genius Dr Spencer Reid.
The crimes featured on the show are heinous (this is where it shares the same formula as SVU). Villains range from serial killers and arsonists on the loose to rapists and paedophiles waiting to strike again.
With plots so disturbing, going to work for the actors involved in this series isn’t always easy. “The content and the dialogue are so dark. And on the sets, you’ve got these dummy human bodies that look real,” said Moore, whose character Derek Morgan is an expert on obsessional crimes.
“You just have to remind yourself this is pretence based on reality. And the eerie, humbling feeling is that while this is fake and we can remove ourselves from this, somewhere this was real, is real, and is going to be real again, and that’s kind of creepy.”
Acting in dark series is nothing new for Patinkin. His last series, which ran for two seasons before it was cancelled, was called Dead Like Me. In it, he played the leader of a group of grim reapers whose main responsibility is to take out the soul of the living just before they die a tragic death.
But that doesn’t mean he is attracted to series with dark themes. Patinkin explained that the reason he took up the role of Gideon was because he is a fan of thrillers and mysteries. Most importantly, he wanted to keep his mind occupied with work.
“I was a cancer survivor. That happened during Dead Like Me and I was going to take a year off before I started TV again. I wanted to work in independent films. Then CBS called and asked me to do a couple of series. This is the one that interested me. And frankly, I like being busy. I like working 24/7. Keeps my mind off things, and I like it. It makes me feel alive,” said Patinkin who won an Emmy Award in 1995 for his potrayal of Dr Jeffrey Geiger in Chicago Hope.
What this TV, movie and theatre vet bring to the series is not only his acting chops, but also some of his moral values. And that has kept the writers of Criminal Minds in check with some of the darker themes on the show.
“I’m a victim of our society, and society desensitises us to some of these (dark subjects). We are even using it and accepting it as entertainment. But there are lines in the sand that are drawn. And there have been times when I made some phone calls and said, ‘I’m sorry. Over my dead body! I’m not desensitised to that’,” Patinkin said about some of the initial storylines that the writers came up with.
To keep himself sane from the dark themes of the series, Patinkin who is now signed for six years to Criminal Minds exercises and meditates daily.
“And the other way I keep myself sane is I have the privilege of getting to sing songs. I’m a singer of show tunes. I’ll fly on a Friday, do a concert on Saturday, fly back on Sunday. It fills my soul because I love those words,” said Patinkin who acted and sang alongside Madonna in Dick Tracy. The 54-year-old actor also won a Tony Awards for his portrayal as Che in the Broadway production of Evita.
