CRIMINAL MINDS: MATTHEW GRAY GUBLER AS DR. SPENCER REID.

Has anyone read how long a contract Matthew Gray Gubler has signed to be with Criminal Minds? Mandy Patinkin signed on for six years. Do we know for sure about any of the other cast members?

  1. I think Prentiss signed on for a few years so that must mean everyone did. I hope so at least.

  2. Certainly he signed for the same amount of time as Mandy. Don't you think so?

  3. I would think they would have signed the original cast members to the same time in the contracts but Kirsten was added a year later. Would they have signed Mandy for longer?

  4. I think Mandy is considered to be the biggest "star" and the biggest draw to the series. My guess is that they offered him an insane amount of money that would make it worth it for him to sign for 6 yrs. They prob. also gave him time off to do concerts.

I'm not sure that the rest of the cast would be treated the same as Mandy; I kind of assume not. Paget might sign anything if she hasn't gotten a lot of offers lately, despite what she's intimated.

MGG is so very talented with his fingers in many pies. I mean, he can't even do a full time series w/o keeping a blog, having art showings of his drawings, and making his hysterical "fakumentaries." As much as I hope he'll sign on to CM for the 6 yr run, I don't know that he'll do it. It might just limit his options. Maybe if they make sure he has time for his own projects, too....

I kind of wonder if the contract signing happened right before Lola decided to book. Maybe that was the "trigger" for her deciding to leave the show at that time.

You'd think that both Shemar and Thomas would have lots of irons in the fire. I hope they enjoy their work on CM so much that they jump on the contract wagon. I don't know what Kirsten has going on, but I sure hope they sign her to a nice healthy contract, too.

I want all the cuties, esp. if we're stuck w. Paget for years to come. (Still waiting for Prentiss to grow a personality.)

  7. I'm in agreement with Jan here. I think Mandy is the marquis player of this show, and getting him committed long-term would have been their first goal. The rest -- I'm sorry to say this, please don't burn me, but it's true -- could be replaced, if necessary. (CSI followers will remember that last year the Nick and Sara actors held out for better contracts, and the producers basically said, "See ya!" and locked them out. There were reportedly profuse groveling apologies from the actors before they returned to work.) I don't think that's the case with any of the current cast, but I also doubt they got contracts as sweet as Mandy's should be.

I hope they'll all stick around for a lot of years.

  8. I have to agree with the ladies. Mandy and Thomas would have been the big draws on the show so their contracts were prob negotiated for longer terms.

  9. I just do not remember reading anything anywhere that spoke of contract lengths for anyone but Mandy.

  13. I would have thought he'd signed for ages, but he did say when teh show starts slowing down/cancelled, he'd go back to directing, so *shrug*
