CRIMINAL MINDS: THOMAS GIBSON AS AARON HOTCHNER

Personally I would like to see Thomas Gibson's character Aaron Hotchner on Criminal Minds mellow out a bit. He is way too intense. :)

I kinda like his intensity. It's a nice off-set to Gideon's more easy-going way. Even in the way they dress -- I swear, Gideon wears jeans more than anybody else on the team.

I think maybe Hotch has a pretty dry sense of humor, and I'd like to see a little more of that. We get glimpses, as in last week's ep, but there could be more.

And I know it's wrong, but just once, just ONCE, I'd like to see him say, "Hey, my family needs me, I'm not going on this one." Just once.

I finally saw Wednesday night's episode - it was all you said and more. And I think Hotch has to be intense, but I'm with lin in that I'd like to see him put the needs of his family above his professional responsibilities - it would be interesting to watch his psychological struggle with it!

What a contrast to the character he played in Chicago Hope. Dr. Nyland was crazy and carefree and Hotchner has a stick up his butt.

When he does smile or make a joke on the show he really does seem more three dimensional.

After Hotch's admission a few weeks ago about being physically abused as a boy, the serious intensity makes more sense. Also what he said to JJ about wanting the stop the crimes before they got to his desk.

I do think his family gives him a chance to mellow out at home, but he may indeed have to start making some hard choices of work vs. home as his son grows. Maybe he can have it both ways, but commitment to family may be harder to meet since it's not a "job" that involves bad guys.

It truly is wonderful to see him smiling.:)

Intense can be good (sexy) But a smile wouldn't go amiss either. Maybe we should have an entire episode where he gives only moddy stares and sexy smiles!

He is very intense on this show but I like it. OK, they should allow him to smile more often and show his very dry sense of humour...
I'm always surprised by the absolutely different behaviour, I mean "Hotch" at work and "Aaron" at home.

I agree with some of the other people around here. I think his intensity is a perfect balance to Gideon's sort of constantly depressed/laid-back manner.
