Actor JEFF NEWBURG Takes ‘Genius’ to a Whole New Level on “CRIMINAL MINDS”

Guest Starring in the Mid-Season Return on January 18, 2012

Los Angeles, CA – Actor JEFF NEWBURG goes head-to-head in a game of wits when he stars in an all-new episode of the hit CBS crime-drama CRIMINAL MINDS, scheduled to air on January 18, 2012.

CRIMINAL MINDS follows an elite group of Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) profilers, as they analyze the nation's most dangerous criminals in an effort to anticipate their next moves before they strike again. In the mid-season return episode titled “True Genius,” the BAU investigates the apparent return of the infamous San Francisco Zodiac Killer. The teams brilliant Dr. Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler)
meets his match in the ‘true genius’ of Caleb Rossmore (Newburg), causing Reid to contemplate his own accomplishments.

Newburg was thrilled at the opportunity to bring such a complex character to life, commenting “It’s rare to get the chance to play such breadth and depth in a single role. It was a challenge and a joy.”

Newburg has been building a solid career since arriving in Hollywood. His on-screen credits consist of studio and independent features, shorts, and major television guest appearances including: “The Ugly Truth,” “Cold Case,” “Lie to Me,” “Crossing Jordan,” and the daytime drama “The Young and the Restless.”

Newburg has been making a name for himself off-screen as well, with several projects currently underway including two premiering in January. Up first, Newburg created and stars in the original comedy web series, “Penny Gets Bad News”; and he directed and stars in John Isaac Watters’ new music video for the track “Houses Filled with
Light.” He is also currently in development as creator and star of the original television pilot “Jack Mather’s Demons,” about a down-on-his-luck exorcist; and he’s set to star in the upcoming horror film “Squatter,” in which he also helped develop.

Born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, Newburg attended Northwestern University majoring in Fiction Writing and Religion. Always looking for a challenge, he decided to minor in History, while also working as a grant-winning visual artist and musician on the Chicago scene. Of course, it’s no surprise that this over-achiever graduated Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa, and shortly after made the decision to move to Los Angeles to further his career.
