I have mixed feelings about this one: first, I am both excited and intrigued at what we are about to see....but then I am bummed because I can't believe how fast this season has flown by...it's over, again! Plus, I will miss Paget:)

I hope they know what they're doing with this one. Generally the last few episodes have been an improvement over those from earlier in the season. A two hour hostage standoff could drag out and go flat. "Siege" type shows have a tendency to become dull and boring. This could be a real test for the writers - to make it interesting and keep it in context of profiling. I've got my fingers crossed. This could be an important springboard into next season and a positive cap to this season; or it could be disappointing. I'm looking forward to seeing how they handle it. As I say, I hope they know what they're doing. GB

I'm apprehensive about this as well. Not only is Prentiss leaving again (and I wish Paget all the best for the future) but there is a good chance it might be the last two episodes with the good doctor also. Much as I admire the rest of the cast, I can't imagine Criminal Minds without Reid and if Matthew doesn't renew his contract, this may be the end for me too. I'm also pretty bummed to find that with all the spoilers saying one of the team is one of the hostages, it looks like it's Will - who I don't consider one of the team. I'm also worried that Erica Messer will turn the wedding scenario into one of her "Lifetime Movie Network" efforts. We shall see.

I officially HATE Criminal Minds! That shot of Strauss coming out of the hotel and Rossi driving away - are you kidding me!!!

There is way too much fluff in CM anymore - it's over for me. Yes, I love Rossi but I have been a fan since day one and this 'soft' CM is just ridiculous.

I was hoping for a tense, dark and the usual finale, this is just stupid and the credits just started rolling! I'm so disappointed...

I never needed or wanted a more personal CM - that wasn't what the show was about. It's been ruined far too long - sorry to rant but I can officially say that I'm done.

Next year's season premier should be very interesting...Anyone know the song or artist at the end of the episode?

First hour: excellent. Nice case, lots of team. TY Rick!

Second hour: the Morgan show... very little HP, Strauss approaches Morgan, no Hotch? Give me a break. If this is S8, I'm so done.

Great job, Emily, wish we'd seen more of you. I'm going to miss this character so much. Good luck, Paget. x

I loved it!! From beginning to end, it was a great show for all characters. Not sure if Kevin and Garcia are officially broken up, guess we'll see.

This was great!! Really nice send off for Emily. I think most of the focus was on Emily and JJ/Will, which was fine with me. Really great finale!!

This was a really good finale, but the fight scenes with JJ and Izzy was a little bit of a stretch. Especially JJ disarming the gun. But still a really good finale.

I knew it wasn't her, but they have the same face and especially the same VOICE.

I Loved the finale!
Good suspense and nice happy ending.
I liked Emily exiting in a subtle way.
Love Will and JJ getting married.
And I actually can't wait for next season.

Well done, CM.

Season finale was a fanastic roller coaster ride that was breathtaking. Love the show, a great end to season 7 and I for one can not wait for season 8. Love the show and I was unable to find any complaint. My daughter who is NOT a fan....LOVE it. Everything that happen was just beautiful. I did make the call to my daughter that the guy who was a hostage was the womans partner.

Kinda felt like the "JJ show" but it still rocked!!

Good. I think the CM family can function without negative nancies (pun emphatically intended) like you.

A solid good episode to my thinking. I was concerned that it might just be a hostage/standoff story; and those can become dull very quickly This was a well crafted story with twists and mystery. The story moved quickly and dramatically. Profiling seems to be back. Everybody participated. I'm sure some fans would like to see more or less of a particular character, but overall it was a good team effort with everyone using their skills. Maybe CM should think in terms of some 90 or 120 minute episodes to have a better opportunity to display the profiling. I liked seeing the malefactors being outwitted - particularly since they thought of themselves as masterminds. I enjoyed seeing JJ whup-up on the black widow. I would have liked to see Morgan scramble the bad egg some more before his being dispatched, but time was a consideration. The bad guys wound up where they should be. I am not a fan of cliffhangers for their own sake. Therefore, I liked the idea of the case being closed out. Of course, there are many threads to pick up on. I hope the season opener is up to it. And I'm still suspicious of Hotchner's girlfriend. This was a good positive finale to what looked like was going to be a disappointing season. Perhaps the CM braintrust has evolved. Credit where it's due - this was a good effort all round and an entertaining entry. I hope it's a sign of things to come. GB

I've not watched CM most of the season, and have not missed the episodes I did not see.

My main problem is that it is not the same show anymore. It is full of fluff and personal stuff. Like Nanci, I don't need, want or like.

That's it for me and CM. Except the occasion rerun on A&E or Ion.

I used to love this show because it was not about the personal lives of the characters. It was about the essence of crime, the paths that lead to a criminal mind, and the way cops think before kicking doors and shot like in the other shows. They were so different than any other cop show. Now, it looks like a soap opera with occasional very bizarre serial killers popping out from time to time.
I also loved the characters because they looked like real people. Now, we only have super-smart-more-genius-than-Reid Garcia, superman Morgan, superwoman JJ, super-stupid Strauss, super-childish Reid, ...
This finale was just a sample of what I hate about criminal minds now: the family of one of the characters in peril (boohoo...), that character being super great defending the family, Morgan again being the superman of the team, Garcia being annoying again (well, actually disrespectful), and pretty much everybody else delivering some lines here and there just to justify they actually get paid for that.
I do remember that Simon Mirren once said in an interview that we would never end up in a show like this (full of personal interactions between characters), but then the CBS did something to piss of the show runners and creators, Ed, Simon are now gone, the really good writers were fired after the strike, and here we are now, with Erica Messer as the show runner (Go figure!). Any other option but Messer would have been better.
I used to think season five wasn’t good at all, and I used to hate season 6. But now, compared with season 7, even Seaver looks more believable than some of the current characters. I don’t know a thing about season eight, but I am pretty sure I won’t see it. I know I won’t see again most of season 7 episodes ever. So, welcome reruns, and goodbye to its shadow, the Careless minds...

I won't be as harsh as others here, because I really did like the season finale. I really LOVE the personal moments between the characters, BUT I love them when they are rare and belong in the episode. The team needs happy moments to balance out all the evil in their lives, but when they occur every other episode they're not special anymore. They are forced and cheesy.

Rossi and Strauss?? really?? Now, I love Reid, but he seems off lately. Hotch seems to be in the background:/ I love that JJ can kick a little ass now and again, but not to often. No Super-Agent crap.

I feel like CM has gone a little off course in the later seasons, but I hope they can turn it around. Give Matthew a contract, go back to profiling unsubs, and give us sweet character moments every now and again. NOT every other scene.

BUT, that being said.. This episode was good. I thought it was over half way, I was like "what are you going to do for the next forty minutes?" but they really pulled it off. I didn't see the guy from the bank being another unsub, I liked how JJ was like a mama bear protecting her kid, and I liked how they handled Emily. After all they did to her last season, they let her go this time with a promotion of sorts. I was so glad it was JJ who got married, and not Emily, because that would have been out of nowhere and stupid. "Oh, guys, I'm getting married and leaving the team to be a housewife". That would have sucked.

I don't know what it was, but I really liked Hotch in this episode. (well, I like him every day of course) but it was something special this time.

Reid dancing?? I was so jealous of everyone he danced with:D

I have seen real improvement in these last couple of weeks, and I am excited to see season eight. Call me naive, but I still believe that they can bring our show back to what it used to be. If they replace Emily, please God, let it be someone more believable than Seaver.

You know what was the highlight of this episode? Reid and Garcia dressed up like the Fourth and Eleventh Doctors respectfully! And Kevin and his mystery girl as the 11th Doctor and Amy, too.

I wonder if Matthew has seen Doctor Who, or at least is familiar with it. Because I think it's a show that's right up his alley! He's such a cute, adorable eccentric--just like the Doctor.

Although, if I had known, I would have thought Reid would dress up as the Tenth Doctor, seeing their physical similarities.

There is one thing I am convinced of now--CBS is infiltrated with Whovians! I mean, how else do you explain the constant Doctor Who references on CBS shows like Big Bang Theory and NCIS, Craig Ferguson (well, he's fan) and now Criminal Minds? It seems that the majority of Doctor Who references on mainstream American television comes from CBS shows.

Wanna comment?

I thought the Criminal Minds finale was really good the first half had a lot of action in it. I was surprised to see that it was Will that was taken hostage, and not one of the actual team members. For some reason I thought he was a stay-at-home dad and didn't know he was working again.

When JJ heard him getting shot from outside of the bank she wanted to go and see him, and she looked at Hotch like the situation reminded her of when Haley was shot and they heard it over the phone. I think he was thinking the same thing as well. Are they really serious about putting Rossi and Strauss together as a couple? I thought he either hated her or he just doesn't like her. Plus isn't she married herself?

That was one pairing I never saw coming but I am glad that she did thank Morgan for helping her get help with her drinking. I did think that when Hotch confronted her about it in her office I didn't think that Morgan needed to be there, eventhough he smelled it on her breath. At the time I thought Morgan hated her and he would have thrown it back in her face when she didn't agree with something.

There is something about Beth that really bothers me I DON'T LIKE HER. I wish that she would just leave and go away, and I hated hearing Jack ask Hotch at the beginning about her sleeping over. I wonder if he knows that they are dating or if Hotch is still telling him that they are just
friends. I honestly wish that by next season they would break up,
because there is something not right about her.

I wonder if Garcia and Kevin are broken up or just on a break, but it looks like to me that things haven't changed and if he's dating someone new? I am kind of glad that Prentiss is leaving because I read that they are leaving the doors open for her to return, but I don't see why she would based on the way they treated her when she left the first time. I just think that there is a reason she's leaving in the first place, so why make occasional returns to the show she's choosing leaving?

Overall it was a good finale, glad Will and JJ got married, glad Prentiss is leaving, pray that Beth wont be on the show too much longer, and hope they show more of Henry and Jack they are so cute especially Henry with his long hair.

Let me start with the good: By itself, it was a cool, action-packed episode. A little too fluffy for Criminal Minds, but I do enjoy seeing into their lives a little more. I understand they had more time to play that aspect up in a two-hour finale. So ultimately, the fluffiness was okay. But I love the actor who plays Will and Henry is adorable... So, fun episode.

Now... on to the bad...

As a Reid fan I must say these past two seasons have been pretty awful (in my opinion). But this finale...? Really?! He was barely in it. Literally about the same - maybe even less - than Garcia. Even if you go by scenes and Garcia had less, her scenes had more girth by far. Reid didn't do a whole lot to help and he was just kinda there. I have been a long time fan of the show and I love all of the characters but Reid is who captured me and while I don't want "The Reid Show," I want balance of these lovely characters. But I've been feeling like Reid's been pushed aside. And while I still love the show, every time I watch I get more and more peeved at how little they are using him.

Sorry if that annoys others. I know we all have our favorites and I know Reid had a lot of fun stuff in the first couple of seasons but I don't think that's a good enough reason to put him on the back-burner... Again, let's try for some balance, hmm?

Anyway, with my rant over and done, let me reiterate that it was a good finale.

I think that was easily the best finale they've had since the Season 4 finale. I really enjoyed all the little personal moments in the beginning.

I love Hotch and Beth and hope to see that storyline continue next season. Jack asking if she could sleep over was very cute/funny.

I really enjoyed Reid and Garcia's scene right up until the point where Garcia flaked out. Why couldn't they just let her behave like a normal human-being for once and just let the scene focus on Reid and Garcia being geeky.

Rossi and Strauss? Really? That was both hysterical and a major "Eww!!!" moment.

Loved the bank scenes with everyone doing what they do best and even though I figured out that the guy was in on it very quickly I still found it all very suspenseful because you never knew was coming next.

I also knew Will had kevlar on so that moment wasn't all that suspenseful.

Loved Prentiss diffusing the bomb.

Not overly impressed with yet another round of Ninja JJ, but I'm not a big fan of the new JJ. I thought AJ played the scenes where she was agonizing over Will very well though. Very convincing.

Henry is an adorable child, but he really needs a haircut.

Jack is of course as cute as ever. I can remember when my brother and I used to make forts like that.

All in all I'd rate this as one of my top 5 favorites this season. Good job RD and EM!!! : )

I was left wondering something though. Did they ever disclose why the unsubs were doing what they were doing? I mean, I got the part about the anniversary, but did they ever say what made them start their routine in the first place?

I really wish that the people that pick apart every episode of CM would stop watching. The other 11 million or so of us will continue to be fans no matter what. It is still the best show on TV. There will be episodes with personal moments of the characters. After all they are human!.

Mary O said...

I really enjoyed it. I think everyone is off base on the Rossi/Strauss connection. I think that's what the writers WANTED us to think and weren't they successful, everyone jumped right to that conclusion...lol. Perhaps we will find out more next season....

Overall it was a great episode although I do think it was a little unrealistic that JJ would be allowed to participate since she was so closely connected to the victim. In real life that would never happen, she would have been too emotional to react rationally.

The only character compliant I really have is that they need to stop writing Strauss as being so stupid. She would never have made "chief" if she was so ignorant of procedure and such. They don't have to make us like her but please give her a little sense.

Not sure what all the uproar is over Beth. Hotch is not a machine and needs a relationship. I really think some watchers are just jealous. I actually like seeing him with someone as it gives him an opportunity to see him in some lighter moments.

These are just my opinions and I can't wait for season 8

Anonymous 44 said...

Right on, Mary O! I agree with all you said so you saved me some time! I felt badly that poor ol' Reid did not get to see Comi-Con - what a drag when he lives to attend it!

I can't believe the Rossi/Strauss relationship either. Think that's something they threw out there to get our attention. Why in the world would Rossi let on to Reid and Garcia and make such a crack about his "bedtime?" NOT!

Most of all the team moments were great. JJ and Emily really shone like the wonder women they are and Garcia was her usual goofy self; but she was mean to put down Reid and silly about Kevin, who I think she will be back on with, soon enough.

The guys all looked mighty handsome and the wedding was sweet, the dancing even better.

OK, that's it - between us, we covered alot of ground! Now, I'm going to watch it again!

I love CM, and i liked this episode, but not everything, the writers wrote a good story, and the female unsub was awesome, she was very cold and calculating and i hope she returns in season 8. There was a lot of action which kept it moving along, and a lot of the team working together, but! having said that, the Will LaMontage soap opera pained me to watch, personally i'm not a fan of this character and the wedding did not interest me, my apologies to all the Will fans, it's not my intent to upset anyone with my own personal opinion. What i did like about the wedding scene was the graceful way in which Emily Prentiss got to exit, her having a dance with all her old team mates was so emotional, and the way her and Morgan were dancing in the closing scene loved it, priceless. one of the best scene endings ever, that scene left me both sad and happy, thank you CM for giving my favorite character and actress a wonderful exit. I will miss you Emily/Paget.

JM said...

Interesting episode, liked the way Emily's exit was handled (very very interesting scene/interaction with Hotch which I believe was a gift to the shippers) but I still think the old CM is now really gone, we are watching yes a good show but more CSI or tv movie thing than CM...I will still watch it but I don't know something is gone, the magic is leaving the show. The new JJ is for me, at the same time, believable and unbelievable. She's like a mix with Emily now and also the evolution of her character (she has always been though, she used to play soccer and had guts in front of the press and with the team) but somehting is off

Also, I'm worried with the lack of comments here and in other sites

I started off with no expectations and enjoyed every moment of the ride! Loved every single one of them, from Will to Strauss. The motivation for the killings kept me guessing, although I did kinda guess the ex-Marine was 'off' - he felt too calm and too nice throughout. The murders were horrific and when he grabbed that little girl, my heart stopped for a moment. And for once I could NOT tell myself, nah they wouldn't do that - I really did think for a moment they would! They were able to keep the momentum right up to the end, and as I have been fond of Will since Jones, I really liked the little glimpse into their lives - Henry is so effervescent it's infectious; I thought JJ was wonderful - you could see the panic in her eyes throughout...Will just felt so quietly strong. He knows JJ well enough to realise love had never really been the issue. I was on the floor laughing with Garcia, Reid and Rossi - the scene was perfect I thought. I loved that Reid knew they couldn't go back in there and, as always, did what was best for his friend. I didn't see the "whom I couldn't possibly find sexually attractive" as an insult. Well, thank god I don't find my friends sexually attractive and vice-versa - but that doesn't mean, and I don't think that's the way Garcia meant it, he isn't attractive in that way to plenty other people. I don't know what to think about Strauss/Rossi except that they're both old enough to not care too much, perhaps. Rossi doesn't have too many illusions about life, and that's what I find refreshing about him. I wouldn't want a 60yo to act naïve—not without idealism but with enough cynicism to protect that heart of his. Jack/Beth/Aaron were sweet and I LOL'd at that awkward moment when Jack suggested the sleepover - speechless Aaron's becoming quite proficient at …erm… speechlessness. I loved it! The Morgan/Prentiss scene at Dupont Circle was nice, and I think that's the moment Morgan realised his time with her was nearing an end but he was still in denial perhaps.

What do I say about the ending - I still have a lump in my throat. The longish scene didn't feel fluffy or tagged-on as I'd feared—it had everything in it but not too much. Ships and stuff - there was something for everyone. Let's all just savour whichever moment spoke to us and tugged at our hearts. I found the Hotch/Emily scenes - their "date" and the dance (I loved the ref to their tell!) - wonderful and quiet and sad. Morgan and Prentiss look so comfortable with each other I know they'll do much to stay in touch. Reid in his bowtie was gorgeous, especially when he sent a kiss Morgan's way. He knows, too, that there's a goodbye tucked in there somewhere and that sad little smile when he was dancing with her mirrored Hotch's during his dance with Emily. All the little moments were charming and filled with such sadness. I didn't care for a moment that it was fan service. Since Paget announced her departure, I think I've been in denial, but it hit me hard today - I am going to miss Emily Prentiss.

Was that Erica Messer, cameo appearance around 15.22 when Hotch and Rossi were talking to the unsub ?

Diane said...

OMG, What a great finale, the writers wrote a great story, it was action packed and the female unsub was fantastic, and JJ fight with the unsub was awesome, and her moments with Henry precious, i'm loving this new JJ she rocks, just like Emily did. I like Hotch and Beth together he needs to be happy, Reid was as cute as ever, i was happy that Kevin was dating another girl, Rossi, Morgan and Garcia had their moments too. I have been in denial about my favorite Paget leaving and taking with her my favorite character the awesome Emily Prentiss, she truly is an original, a one of a kind, I was so touched and moved at how Emily got to exit the show, it was so beautiful and emotional, you could feel the love from the cast members see it in their eyes how they feel about her, they were not only dancing with Emily but with Paget and it showed through, such a beautiful ending had tears in my eyes, you have such a beautiful heart Paget, will miss you.

I really loved the episodes.
For my part, I expected something really bad cause I didn't want JJ/Will to marry. Considering the last time we saw Will and how unhappy he seemed with JJ's work, it didn't make sense to me for them to get married. But at the end, I loved their relationship and the wedding.
I liked all the personal stuffs in this episode but I understand people who doesn't. In a certain way it doesn't fit with the spirit of the show. I've always wanted to know better of the whole team but I wished it had been more subtle by showing less of the everyday/personal scenes. Because that's how we are used to.
Anyway, very good episodes. Prentiss' exit was well written.

If Reid is to have knit this scarf himself, why is it not a proper replica of the Dr Who scarf? The colours and the striping were all wrong. The man is supposed to have an eidetic memory and is just a wee bit OCD, this scarf travisty should not have happened!

I have a feeling there going to be rough water ahead in the JJ/Will marriage in season 8, especially after Will was not happy with JJ being back at the BAU, and they only did get married after going through such a traumatic experience, so the problems are still there, i think the writers may go in this direction to add the personal drama to the show.

anyway, a great season finale, and this will now go into my CM top 10 favorite episodes, still at number 1 is season 6x18 Lauren. still best ever for me.

Erica, this was a great finale, however, i wish you went with your original plan for the Will Lamontagne character, that would have been more true to the CM style of the show and made such great drama, but i understand why you didn't do it, with Paget leaving, maybe in season 8 we will see this happen.

@GB - it is those kinds of comments that drive people away from this site. You may feel you are being amusing but to many people this is not a laughing matter. Although some comments here are still interesting, many are rude and cruel. I will not be back here and if they do not sign Matthew with a fair contract I will not be back to CM.

These episodes have yet to air in England but after reading the comments i think i'll be giving them a miss so thanks for saving two hours of my life! I was only going to watch for Paget Brewster's final scenes, if it wasn't for her i don't think i would have realised this show even existed! Anyway i'm excited to see what she'll be starring in next as i won't be watching season 8 of CM!

On a separate note it's just occured to me after watching Homeland that this show really does miss Mandy Patinkin. Recently i was watching some classic CM and i was amazed what a pivotal role he played, especially his interactions with other characters. In my opinion the character of Rossi never filled that gap not like Paget did when she replaced the actress who played Elle, maybe that's what the shows been missing! I'll be very shocked if this show lasts beyond season 8!

To GH: Take a deep breath. It's a TV show. There are serious things in the world. CM, as much as I like it and enjoy it and appreciate the various discussions about it, is not one of them. It's entertainment. GB

I didn't realize that Matthew hadn't sign on for season 8 I just assume that he did like everyone else. I like Reid he's funny and to be honest they need him. Hope he returns for season 8, because if he doesn't I think the show could be done by the end.

I personally think that Criminal Minds isn't the same anymore and I understand that characters change, but the format of the show doesn't need to. let's hope for a decent new season.

Anonymous said...

Shocked about the scarf, also. My husband said they probably just grabbed what they could from the props shed. I thought it may be a copyright thing. Either way, It should have been correct if Reid spent time making it. I noticed right away that it wasn't even close. soooo sad .....

I still hold out hope, that after this hiatus, that come July we will all get a surprise and both Matthew and Paget will return to the show, i no i'm a dreamer, but it would be a dream come true.

Anonymous said...

Paget is unlikely, but let's keep our fingers crossed for Matthew.

Loren said...

Honestly, unless Matthew is somehow the reason Reid has been getting so little time this season, I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't sign on.

He's got so much talent and I'm pretty sure his true love is directing. Now, with him getting pushed aside like this, I wouldn't blame him. I mean, I hope he does because after this season, I'm certain I'd be done with this show if he left. And I've been watching since season 1.

Sorry to be a negative Nancy but in a two-hour finale, you'd think he'd get more than a few lines and scenes. Let's face it, the best scene with him was in the beginning in his outfit and Garcia ended up stealing it with her Kevin drama... I'm just over the focus on relationships and, I've noticed the women are starting to dominate. As a woman, I have no regret in saying I really hope that trend doesn't continue. There are enough soap operas on tv right now and Criminal Minds has never been that.

Liz said...

Well said, Loren. Matthew's dwindling screen time has been a problem for years now. I still hope he signs on, but if they don't give him more to do, why bother? They'd be wasting his time and ours.

Bittersweet ending only in regards at the team (nice JJ got a happy ending) but a downer ending for Prentiss in my opinion. No closer for what she will do nor did I get a dialog w/teammembers. I was naiv to belief it would be. Seriously no talk btw. Hotch (unit chef) on screen disapointed. Their deal is obviously not worth to be watched, with the off screen side effect he helped her to come to terms - the result she quits. Hotch's girlfriend got the red carpet. Can I bond with her - no (I do not hate her) - she is written that way (nice a perfect). My point is, she had not to prove she is worth the trust she gets and snap became a part of the BAU family and the show goes on in S8. Pls. more Reid instead of her next season. Good song at the end well chosen. Wish all a great summer.

To the Anonymous who said, "I also loved the characters because they looked like real people. Now, we only have super-smart-more-genius-than-Reid Garcia, superman Morgan, superwoman JJ, super-stupid Strauss, super-childish Reid, ...
This finale was just a sample of what I hate about criminal minds now: the family of one of the characters in peril (boohoo...), that character being super great defending the family, Morgan again being the superman of the team, Garcia being annoying again (well, actually disrespectful), and pretty much everybody else delivering some lines here and there just to justify they actually get paid for that."

THANK YOU! You said exactly what I have been thinking. The BAU team has been reduced to stock (make that laughingstock?) characters and the show seems like a parody of its original version. I also agree that Mandy's departure created a hole that's never been filled...but I could still enjoy the show when the rest of the characters were multi-faceted and interesting, and Reid was an important member of the BAU. It's an ongoing struggle for me to keep watching, but I keep hoping that things will turn around.

A message to those who apparently can't tolerate criticism of CM in this blog: feel free to stop reading it. By definition a blog exists to foster an exchange of different views. Anon Q

Wow...people who criticize CM are "idiots" who should kill themselves? I would like to see you post deleted and you blocked from this site...that level of vitriol is intolerable. The blog is named "Fanatic" but I didn't think that was meant literally...

Is it any wonder why fewer and fewer people bother to participate in this blog? Say anything negative and people wish you dead. Anon Q

To The Non-Anon

Wow, you really need to get off the internet until you grow up and show that you can interact with others without behaving like an idiot.

Also, look up the word OPINIONS, they are many and varied and not everyone is going to have the same ones as you.

Respect, courtesy, kindness: lack of these is a big part of what is wrong with our society today.

There are nice ways to express yourself without making everyone else cringe; I say grow up and learn to play nice or just go away.

When the only way you come to know a person is from what they write, it can be difficult to read between the lines, see where they're coming from, and know if you care to even have a discussion/conversation with them, so bloggers need to go the extra mile and show respect and an ounce of kindness for people to care enough to engage with them at all.

Because this blog has more negative and less positive and more people who snap and jump down everyone's throat whenver the opportunity presents itself: well, that's why people don't come to this blog much anymore.

I, for one, think it's a shame, and I miss it.

So, people: stop and think before you post. It's your blog, too. Look at it like this: remember the old adage about not shi--ing in your own sandbox? This blog is what you make it.

We came together here for the common love of a great TV show. If you don't like that TV show anymore, why would you waste your time coming here? Just turn your channel - it's pretty easy.

Let's get back to making it a pleasant place. Think about it, OK?

Thanks for listening.

Anon 44: you had me right up until the end, where you asked why people who "don't like the show" would participate in this blog. I guess those of us who love the show but are frustrated by the many ways we feel it has gone off the rails should stop participating, stop expressing how we feel it needs to improve to be great again. We should follow the old adage: if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all? Everyone who participates in this blog should have the same positive opinions, or stay away? Fine, I can do that, but pls change the name to Criminal Minds Stepford Blog. And thanks! Anon Q

Let me take a crack at this. Everyone is a fan or he or she wouldn't be here in the first place. Many have strong opinions about various aspects of the show and the characters. Everyone should be able to speak (write) his or her opinion freely. I like to hear (see) opinions that vary. Some are things that I never thought of, knew, or realized. The problem seems to come when someone uses uncivil, read that careless or equivocal, language. As a previous poster noted, since writing has no inflection or facial exression, sometimes it can be misunderstood or appear harsher than the writer intended. Hate may not mean hate; then again it may. Regardless, I have never found fault, and I don't think anyone else has, with an opinion that states facts to support that opinion and is expressed in appropriate language. I may not agree, but I find no fault. We can disagree mightily without being disagreeable, as they say, and certainly without name calling. GB

For what it's worth, I support the idea of eliminating anonymous comments. As I have said, I respect differing opinions and enjoy participating in discussion of varying points of view. There is no need for everyone to agree on everything. Name calling, incivility, and outright inane provocation has no place. I initial my posts for consistency of identification, and I would have no objection to a reasonable sign in-identification procedure if that seems to be called for. Put me in the free speech but willing to put my name where my mouth is category. GB

I love this show, but that's just it, it's not real, and a person opinion on a character or episode, weather it's positive or negative, personally doesn't worry me, i do respect other people opinions, however, actors, crew, fans & bloggers are real people, so please be mindful that sometimes to someone words really do hurt and can be damaging, kindness of the heart can go a long way. Hope to see you all in season 8.

I have just caught up with the final, and I have to say, I thought it was really good! I absolutely loved the send off to Emily, and the little gift to the shippers with the Hotch dance moment ... it was really nice! The whole ending scene was done beautifully, and I just adored it!! Think i've rewound that scene like 10 times! haha!

I have been a fan since the beginning, and I have had my moments when I felt like the show was losing it's way a little, mainly with continuity and character development. I get really disappointed when they introduces character arks and don't finish them... like Reid with his headaches, and Hotch being stabbed - never ever found out what the Reaper did to Hotch and never got a glimpse into him getting over that (really disappointing), but I do think the end of this season was a bit of an apology for a not so great season... and for what was done with Emily and JJ being forced out. They were giving Emily the exit she deserved this time.. and I'd like to thank the show for that!!

Really looking forward and quite excited to see which direction the show takes next season! :-) and my only wish is that when we get little glimpses into our fave characters personal lives that the stories are continued or finished in someway, not just forgotten about! This used to be done with little subtle moments, and I used to love that sooo much!!!

But I'm hyped about the positive ending - think there's more good things to come for this show and I'll be a fan no matter what until the end! :-)

So i said i wasn't going to watch the season finale however i just had to see Paget Brewster's final scene's and of course to have a glimpse of the lovely Sebastian Roche! It wasn't bad i was expecting worse although i did skip the majority of the hostage situation.

The one thing i did notice was that whenever Bellamy Young was on screen so was Cade Owens, now i know that many of the fans don't like the whole Hotch relationship so my question is have they used this little boy as a buffer? If that is the case it's genius because who can make mean comments when it involves that little cutie!

Still won't be watching season 8 and before anyone comments i loved this show, obsessively! i personally blame the writers and producers they had an award winning show and they've ruined it, you never know CBS might think the exact same thing and bring in someone new and you never know i might return!

Everyone who dissed Rachel Nichols in Criminal Minds...Watch Continuum! Its awesome and proves how great Rachel Nichols is with the right materials and good characterization!

I agree, It,s my new favorite show besides CM of cause, Continuum has a great story and Rachel Nichols is awesome in it, i,m now a fan of this actress, i hope there is a season 2 and that they will show this show in Australia.

Also i hope that my favorite actress Paget Brewster gets her own show soon cause she can do comedy/drama you name it, the networks would be crazy not to pen Paget her own show, i,ll keep my fingers cross that she will return to our screens soon.

I'm putting this as (sort of) anonymous for now, since this is my first time posting on this blog. But I have to say, this is my favorite serious-type show. The other ones that I watch are frivolous, but this one just makes me... well, I guess reflect on human nature.

And my nature.

Now, this may seem disgusting to some, but I love it when one of the team's lives hang in the balance.

And here's the scary part; I'm a little intrigued with torture and gore and those things people are supposed to shy away from. Don't get me wrong, though, I would NEVER go and kill or torture someone.

What I really want to know is if they ever take episode ideas from fans. Because sometimes, the writers exhaust their brains, don't they? I do, though I've never actually finished any of my writings.

I guess I would ask that because well, I do have ideas, but I would also like to be on the show, or at least in the background and meet the cast. Though that would be impossible, considering every other fan wants just that, and if they let one, they'd have to let all, right?

Call me a daydreamer, sure. I do daydream. But dreams lead to goals, and goals (if you pursue them to the best of your abilities) lead you to places. And maybe, just maybe, make that dream into reality.

Is writing this the first step to my dream? You bet. I heard the writers read CM blogs like this one, so maybe, just maybe, my voice can be heard over the tens of thousands of screaming fanatical fans...

I absolutely loved Hit and Run. This was the best finale I've seen this season. It was much better than the Grey's Anatomy Finale. Thank You criminal Minds. JJ and Will rocked this episode and Henry is so cute. Loved the scene with Garcia/Reid watching Rossi and Strauss. I love when they add comic relief to the episodes. I am sad to see Emily leave. I Love the Emily character. She brings balance to the team. I hope there will be more of Will next season since he's a DC cop. I loved him and Jj since Jone. Awesome episode!!!

Having just watched the finale for the third time I agree it was amazing. I'm thrilled they went with a happy ending. I loved how they ended it with the song, dancing, wedding. It would have been too much if something tragic would have happened to Will. We've already been there, done that with Hotch and Hailey. It's nice to know that at least one of the profilers can make a marraige work. It'd be too depressing to know that outside of work they were unhappy, if anyone can make it work it's JJ, she's a spunky girl and I like the character of Will also.

Hotch was on spot in this episode. He handled the team well.

I adored Emily, I'll miss her next season. Hopefully, she'll make some guest appearances. Maybe the team can do an episode working with inerpol.

I like Garcia and Kevin but she sort of deserved him bringing a date to the wedding since she turned his proposal down. Glad the propsal worked out for JJ and Will.

Liked the interaction with Emily and Morgan. I'm going to miss their friendship.

Lastly, I must say they have the best guest stars. Great acting with the unsub especially when she was talking to Henry. It was creepy but the creepy episodes of CM are always my favorites.

And to add, I love the peek into the team's personal lives. It gives them a human side when we watch them at home.

This was an okay finale for a very disappointing seventh season. The case was intriguing and definitely interesting. The personal aspects of the episode were definitely a little over the top. I hate that they throw in little forced scenes in the beginning and end of every episode now. It's just now how Criminal Minds operates. Erica Messer doesn't know what she's doing, and Edward Allen Bernero and Chris Mundy should come back and fix the mess of a TV show that Criminal Minds has become. I have to admit that even with all the casting issues and the idiotic character of Ashley Seaver, I enjoyed the sixth season more that I did the seventh. The episodes were very solid in the sixth season, but this season, the only episodes I thoroughly enjoyed were Painless, True Genius, Divining Rod, The Company and Profiling 101. I miss the old Criminal Minds and hope that the show gets better next year, but I doubt it.

I am going to miss Paget very much, but the fact that it was her decision to leave the show makes it a little easier to handle.

Anyway, season 7 was a very disappointing season, and this finale was okay.
