Second behind American Idol at 9 p.m. was CBS’ Criminal Minds at a very comfortable 8.7/13 (64 percent above the 8:30 p.m. portion of lead-in The Price is Right). Third was the second half of NBC’s expanded Deal or No Deal (4.9/ 9), followed by ABC’s Supernanny (3.9/ 6), and the premiere of the CW’s Farmer Wants a Wife (#5: 2.0/ 3). Comparably, retention for Farmer Wants a Wife out of the second-half of Top Model (3.4/ 6 at 8:30 p.m.) was just 59 percent.

Criminal Minds: Lori was going to post the details of the Criminal Minds convention chat on the message board but there seems to be a date conflict. It seems that NCIS is having a convention around or the same week we were planning for and this could present a problem. Since their convention is been subsidized it is going to be huge and it could interfere with our plans. Allie is going to get more info on their dates and agenda and then we can have another chat and decide if we need to pick another date. CRIMINAL MINDS REPEATS ON A&E

Criminal Minds: A&E Network has acquired exclusive cable rights to the hit CBS drama series Criminal Minds, officials said Thursday.

The acquisition from CBS Television Distribution gives A&E the exclusive cable rights to the critically acclaimed series beginning September 2009. And starting this May, A&E will run episodes from the first three seasons of the series once weekly before fully stripping the series in September 2009.

Deal terms weren’t disclosed.

“Criminal Minds is a strategic acquisition which will serve as an excellent promotional platform for A&E’s cable-leading portfolio of justice programming, as well as a perfect complement to the strong stable of high-quality, character-driven off-net dramas, including CSI: Miami and The Sopranos,” A&E executive vice president and general manager Bob DeBitetto said in a prepared statement. “The addition of this series comes at the perfect time, as we get ready to reintroduce original drama series to the network, beginning this summer.”

One of the top-rated crime dramas on broadcast television, Criminal Minds follows a team of FBI profilers who analyze the country's most twisted criminal minds, anticipating their next moves before they strike again.

The return of CBS's first-run scripted series continued to dominate as the Network posted three of the Top Five and seven of the Top 10 scripted series, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending April 20, week 30 of the 2008-2009 television season.

NCIS, TWO AND A HALF MEN, CSI: NY, CRIMINAL MINDS, CSI: MIAMI, CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION (R) and RULES OF ENGAGEMENT comprised seven of the top 10 scripted programs.

For the week in viewers: CBS (8.54m), FOX (8.75m), ABC (7.91m) and NBC (7.33m). Season-to-date, CBS is second in viewers (10.46m), behind FOX (11.30m) and ahead of ABC (9.14m) and NBC (8.33m).

For the week in key demographics, CBS was second in adults 25-54 (3.0/08) and averaged a 2.3/07 in adults 18-49. Season-to-date, CBS is second in adults 25-54 (3.8/09) and tied for second in adults 18-49 (3.0/08, with ABC).
