mfj1311, Morgan is going to be off the charts! But I do hope that there is some growth for that character in that he can come to a place of forgiveness and understanding and not be the hot head he has been written too many times to be.
Reid and Gracia, yes, I think they will probably be the first ones to forgive, but it will be interesting to see how long that will take and how much of an effect that will have on them. In the finale, Garcia looksed like she had been through the ringer, almost to the point where she was thinking of packing it all in, or that is what it seemed like to me. Who knows what this additional blow may do to her.
I agree with what you said about Rossi, but I think this may touch a nerve in Rossi that we have never seen before, most likely not a good one.
For this to be remotely passable, Hotch has got to be there. He is just too central of a character in this storyline (and in the show) for it to be executed the best possible way.
Since my post did not make it to the new page, I post it again. My main problem with the whole lying about Prentiss death situation is that Hotch was doing the grief assessments. He watches their grief and knows they are only grieving because of a lie. And they trust him with their grief and will eventually find out that he was lying to them all the time. He should have let somebody else do the grief assessments.
I really hope it doesn't take that long, but it is a serious issue they are negotiating.
Is it? Are they even negotiating at this point or has it just become a game of chicken to see which side is going to flinch first? I just find it hard to believe that there could be so much left to negotiate every single day that it could take up a whole day, every day, and still not make any progress, but alas, I know nothing about these things other than what could've been resolved months ago typically goes down to the wire because neither side is willing to budge until it reaches that critical point and I have zero patience for that kind of nonsense so I'd suck really bad at the process. :b
Christine, if for no other reason than to provide JM/Rossi an opportunity to get snarky with Hotch, I’m all in for this to have touched a nerve with Rossi.
That last scene with Garcia was so touching, makes me sad. Reid and Garcia will probably be so glad that Emily is alive and JJ’s back that the other stuff won’t matter much.
I can’t imagine how they will pull this story off without Hotch. If he is there, I won’t be either.
I don't think the team not knowing is so much that they don't tell someone. They wouldn't do that, but I think knowing Emily's not dead would lead to a whole different demeanor. They would, in a way, have to feign some of their grief so that if Doyle were watching the team,(he's been through a faked death before) that might be a problem.
I originally thought Morgan would be the most angry over it but, since Big Sea, I'm not so sure. He has essentially done much the same thing with his aunt. I've thought Rossi would accept it the easiest. He goes with the flow, has been a marine and may have gone on secret ops. I think Garcia and Reid will be the most affected, and that Garcia will get over it first. Just my opinion though.
Does anyone know if paget is returning for the full season? according to E! online it says her new deal is limited episodes. Is that true or did they get mixed up with her deal from last season? Someone please tell me it's full season lol the confusion is stressing me out lol
So if they know, the rest of the team should also know. But no matter what, I would not be pleased that Hotch did not trust me enough to keep the secret.
Again, in order to best ensure that the secret has the best chance of not getting out, they had to minimize the number of people that know. Letting the entire team know would defeat this purpose. Upon finding out, I don't think they would be pleased but as FBI agents, I would imagine that they would probably be understanding of the necessity to keep secrets, especially in order to protect the safety of others.
I agree with Christine that it would be Morgan that would have the strongest reaction, as he is the most hot-headed. But I also agree with her in that Morgan should have grown a lot in this aspect of his personality by now and I'd like to see a more toned-down/controlled version of his hot-headedness than in seasons past.
Are they even negotiating at this point or has it just become a game of chicken to see which side is going to flinch first?
LMAO. Well yes, that is what I meant by "negotiating". I would imagine that is where it is at by this point. I will say this: TG's got GUTS to stick to his guns. LOL. Well, we can't say what is more important to him, only he knows. But if he is willing to walk, then it should be apparent to CBS that they should just pay the man or else they are gonna lose many viewers! No Hotch NO CM for me!!
I have zero patience for that kind of nonsense so I'd suck really bad at the process. :b
I have zero patience, period. So I would be really REALLY bad at the process. LOL.
mfj1311, I would have to agree with you, I think Reid and Garcia would be more accepting and forgiving because of their personalties. Rossi, OTH, has way more years of exp and been in Hotch's shoes in a leadership role and may be p.o.'d at first, and might chide Hotch for not telling him but ultimiately, calibrate that with a statement about the facts/numbers: the more that know, the greater chance there is of the secret getting out and the greater the risk Emily would be subjected to...I think that would be a very real possibility.
But Morgan, he ref. to Emily as his partner, that he prev let "her have his back," and until she was near death, was having difficulty coping with her deceit. It may be awhile before he feels good about either Hotch OR Prentiss because of his morality/ethical issues and his own temperament. But I don't see it affecting his relationship as much with JJ. In fact, JJ may be the one to get him to settle back down with her subtle, caring and sensitive demeanor. Or Garcia, even, with her current hug-buddy ways, may even get him to more easily accept it. JMHO.
It's the last day of the month. How much longer can the unsigned contract issue go on, anyway?
Zagi…I believe Hotch did the assessments to protect his team, of course we only saw a brief glimpse of each assessment, a lot is left up to the imagination.
Sf81387…I’d suck at these types of negotiations too. I’ve learned not to pray for patients though, it only forces me to deal with my inpatients more.
Gubegirl…I’m looking forward to how they untangle all this and I can definitely see JJ being the peace maker. Garcia has so little tolerance for borrowed trouble, her ability to see the good in Hotch’s actions may be a thorn in Morgan’s side. There is just so much they can do with all this.
CMFAN11, I read that too but I think it may be either something picked up from her last deal, or it could be that she won't be appearing in the first few episodes to set up her return. If there were a reduced episode count for her, I think it would have been reported in the Deadline article unless that is something (if true) that they will announce in a later article.
Zagi, I think the grief assessments are the main issue that may make it not turn out the way some people see with the other characters in relating to Hotch once they find out about Prentiss. It is one thing to keep that news under wraps, but to have been in a situation where people are sharing their feelings and thoughts about their grief in an assessment session, that is where I think the scripts will be flipped. This isn't insurmountable, it is just a bad situation.
Even though we only got to see a small portion of those sessions, it was enough for me to know that trouble was on the way. I remember when Rossi told Hotch during that session that it is hard for him to open up to people and I know that it was probably a hard situation for Rossi to be in with Hotch (although I am sure the scotch helped, lol). Rossi is an easy going guy, but this is definitely a kick in the pants. I think Rossi will be more open with Prentiss because of the way he defended her in the Lauren episode, plus, I think he understands what a hectic life she's led. He understands this about Hotch, but I think he has always felt like they have been on the same page and to find out that this isn't necessarily the case, that will be very hard to deal with.
I hope Doyle comes back so the team can get him, as of now (once TG gets his contract signed, at least)the writers have a great oppurtunity to make an amazing story arc for prentiss to come back and use the storyline's of reid's headaches and morgan's family and Garcia's love life to make a great season that can make up for S6. I can't wait to see how this all unravels and they make up as well as the new JJ and Prentiss
Really disappointed in the show runners. It's weak to fold to a bit of fan pressure if you've taken a direction you believe is right. I'm sure it's bad for morale and artistic freedom.
There will never be forgiveness from my side, with how they handled these cast shake ups and walking all over RN, is just not the right way to handle such a situation. It is bad business and unprofessional all together and dirty at that.
Personally, I vote for no more story arcs for Season 7. Just get back to telling good stories every week and utilize the characters to tell those stories just like the old days. I don't care to see anything more about Reid's headaches, don't want to see anymore time wasted on Ian Doyle and super spy Prentiss and I've seen more than enough of Garcia's love life to suffice, I don't need weekly doses of it and I'd rather learn more about Morgan's dog Clooney and his home life than have anymore mysterious angst-ridden famly members crawl out of the woodwork.
These story arcs don't work because the writers never follow through on them so please just stop. Just stick to producing a highly entertaining weekly procedural and leave well written character drama to television shows that are actually character driven. Little pieces here and there of the characters outside of work or the little scenes on the plane after a case or in a restaurant are enough.
Thank you for the fine and crazily under-appreciated work you did on Criminal Minds. In the short time you were on the show you made me believe in your character. I was genuinely interested to find out more about Ashley so I'm disappointed we won't see her grow into the BAU, and we won't discover more about her past and relationships with the team. Love your scenes with JM.
:o)
I'm going to miss this a lot.
Given the context of other cast members' departures, the fact that a decent minority of us grew to appreciate Seaver is a big testimony to your talent. Believe me, there are some of us who saw how good you are.
I'm sorry you've had a rough ride. I wish your employers had defended you better with more time, good storylines and character development and, perhaps most necessary here, courage in their own convictions. (Yeah, I don't have much time for them right now...)
On the other hand, I'm glad for the episodes we had you on the show. Great work! And happy that you've had such good times on set with the cast and crew. I sincerely hope CM will have a warm place in your memory.
I'm going to miss seeing Seaver grow but all strength to you, Rachel, and good luck for the future.
You make a really good point. With the exception of getting prentiss back I completely agree. It would be better to go back to the old ways of the show and no more arcs. I for sure wanna see more hangout moments outside of work and little pieces instead of more long unnecessary arcs. I'll pray the writers are listening to someone like you and not me lol
Sf18387, I also hope they stop with these arcs. The way they used to write the show never really contained any of these arcs and it was good. I think season 6 should be scrapped with the exception of dealing with Prentiss' return and the fallout for Hotch and JJ because those are glaring things that cannot be overlooked, but they don't have to be dwelled on either. Reid's headaches, let's just leave that whole sad arc, episode, with the rest of the season 6 fiasco's. I think now is the time to start fresh by getting back to the roots of CM. I hope they do that, but Gibson must be on board for that to happen.
"decent minority" Uk viewer, if you liked the character okay, but for those who didn't that doesn't make them less decent than you or the minority you claim to speak for. There is no longer any need, not that there was ever any need, for these type of jabs. You could have said what you wanted to say without inserting that, also, you don't know what led to the ultimate decision to write out the Seaver character. As was stated earlier, the showrunner can give suggestions, but at the end of the day it is ABC Studios and CBS that make the final call. If they wanted to keep the character on, the character would have remained on. What their ultimate reasons were to eliminate the character is anyone's guess. If people want clarity on that, contact the network as they had the final say. Erica said what she had to say as to why that character will no longer appear, but as I stated the network has the final say. They don't cave to what Erica Messer wants or doesn't want.
I sincerely hope we can get back to discussing episodes, or what has been happening here the majority of today, making speculations about season 7. This board has been topsy turvy for too long and now is the time to look forward to season 7. Some don't like how season 7 will look and as such they can decide to either keep watching the show or not.
I'm hopeful that Gibson will get a contract soon and so will join in discussions where he is included in what may transpire season 7.
A, I understood UK viewer to refer to the number not quality of people who were RN fans. I didn't like the character myself but respect those that did.
Teresa H. I hope that is correct and apologize if I took those statements out of context. I want to move past all of that and focus on season 7. I'm excited for the return of the JJ and Prentiss' characters. I don't believe they should have ever been written out of the show and am thankful that TPTB finally came to realize that error. I never took to the Seaver character for reasons that have been stated ad nauseum but of course I wish the actress much success in the future.
What I am waiting for now is confirmation that Thomas Gibson is a lock for season 7. None of what has been discussed here can be devoid of the Hotch character. The Hotch character is integral to the show and I hope that ABC Studios and CBS understand just how much.
ok this is my final post today bc i've got a final tomorrow lol anyways everybody needs to bombard the cbs website, twitter etc and let them know how important hotch is so we can get him back and the show can hopefully go back to normal. I just did lol...
BTW: we already know how powerful the internet can be so lets get hotch back along w/ the rest of the CM cast/family
I really like the show because of the storytelling and the crazies! And I hope season 7 isn’t about JJ’s and Prentiss’ back story or more arcs. I didn’t like the arcs that was focused on just one character; The Reid on drugs, The Reaper Arc, and Lauren Arc-hated the Lauren Arc. Although, 100 is my second favorite episode, with my fav character, Hotch!, I felt the show spent way to much time on these one particular characters during the arcs. I just want the storytelling that graced seasons 1-4 so please no back stories.
Even if i have been a fan from season 3 or was it 4. I can't and i will not support a show that treats their actresses like a doormat. This farce need to end, there has been more drama(crime) behind the scenes then on the show and it is a "crime" show but most of it happened behind the scenes. The whole thing has become so ridiculous. The showrunners has ruined this show. They should never have fired AJ and Paget to begin with. But as stupid as they were they did and now an actress who i am afraid will not get invited back to the cast like the other 2. So all in all the mistake they made all came down on one sweet and great actress Rachel Nichols, which they could have avoided if they never fired AJ or Paget.Rachel Who was not to blame for any of this got the short end of the stick. It is quite disgusting how they went about this whole deal. And if they keep this up no actress will ever gonna work fulltime on the show again if they somehow lose AJ or Paget again. Because the job security on this show if you are newbie is less then zero. And the new actress would be better of on a different show or a new show. They really dug their own grave with this whole mess.
If the show remains a top 10, even top 20 show, there will be actresses lining up around the block to take over for AJ or Paget if either one decides to leave (which I hope they don't). No way is any actress, or actor, going to give up the chance to star in a top 10 show on the #1 TV network.
LOL Anonymous, the opportunites and exposure you can get from appearing on a top 10 show on the #1 network outweigh any sense of job security as you put it. As an actor, your number one goal is to book a gig. How long that gig will end up being, who knows? But you are not going to turn down a gig unless it is something that maybe goes against your conscience, artistic sensibilities, or pays horribly.
Maybe because there has been a lot of buzz with Paget coming back, YAY!!!, it seems like things have gotten awfully quiet in Thomas Gibson contract land. I'm not sure what to think other than maybe this is a "game" to see who will blink first. I want to kick this party into high gear but I can't without knowing for sure that TG will be back. I am super excited that AJ and Paget are coming back, but am wondering what is the hold up with Thomas Gibson.
believe what you will Victoria but no actress want to work a place like that and get treated like you are nothing, on top of that they don't even tell you that you have to be let go or fired.
Ok Anonymous.. think that, but I'll tell ya what, if they were to do a casting call right now for a female lead for Criminal Minds, they would get flooded with calls from agents. That is the way the Hollywood cookie crumbles. It has been happening for years. RN is not the first and she won't be the last.
Holy SHIT! Did Rachel Nichols really find out about not returning to CM via the net like everyone else? OK that sucks, she wasn't great in CM but that can be chalked up to the writers lack of consistency with her character but the actress did not deserve that! I really wonder how exacly AJ and Paget found out they werent returning either becuase that just bites. While I am not a fan of Seaver I think she does deserve a couple of episodes to wrap up her character and be let off gracefully on the show! Firing her like that really is sickening. On the other hand it was coming one way or another but still, Rachel should have been informed that it was a possibility and I think that with some time passing, she coulve come back in a recurring capacity. This just gives me a whole new perspective. And she's losing out on GI Joe, this is so not fair to her. Hopefully AJ and Paget and everyone else in the cast has some good deals for themselves. Damn!
I loved Hotch volunteered to do grief assessment of the team. To me, it showed how he feels with this whole situation, he feels responsibility to their grief, and it showed how he deeply cared his team. He could let someone do the grief assessment, maybe he should, I'm not sure, but instead, he wanted do it by himself because he feels responsible, because he cares the team members feelings and well-being. That's, to me, makes Hotch great team leader. It must be really hard for him knowing Prentiss is alive and still listening to their grief but he did it because he cares. And IF he did reveal the truth during the grief assessment because he couldn't bear to hear their pain, that made him disqualified for the leader and he shouldn't do the assessment in the first place. I actually can see Morgan would be fury when he knows the truth, but I think and I hope he would understand because he is the experienced Agent enough not to put his own feeling ahead of what have to be done. I think, the end of the day, the team would understand Hotch did what he could do best for the team and Prentiss in that situation.
I'm very sorry for the manner in which CBS/ABC decided to let you go. I wish you all the best. You were very fortunate to have been able to be in such a great show even if for only a season. Life doesn't always turn out the way we would like. We can either let it break us, or we can grow stronger from it. You are young, beautiful, intelligent, and funny. I know that you will be able to get newer, better roles! And you are going to be the Belle of the Ball when Conan comes out soon! You will have men slobbering in the theater aisles and be the envy of women everywhere. From my point of view (the view of a short, pudgy woman - LOL!), you are blessed beyond belief. Enjoy it! Best of luck to you. And please don't sit around moping, go out and enjoy the rest of your vacation!!!
You know what I think would be a great way to open Season 7? Thomas Gibson with his best Hotch face, deadpan straight into the camera... "I've got gas." haaaaaaahaha. (inspired by TG's tweet today) I am cracking myself up. Which means it is time to call it a night. Do you see what you are doing to me CBS? Just get the man to sign already before I go completely bonkers. TY.
The way AJ and Paget found out about their sitautions wasn't much better either. As has been repeated quite often on this thread already, CBS has a history of this sort of "notification" process with the matter of Without a Trace being the most famous (that was discussed a little earlier on this page). As mentioned, unfortunately, this really is par for the course in some Hollywood circles and if one wants to remain in the business they had better get prepared to come head to head with these sorts of practices. In no way is this an endorsement of such behavior, and in no way is this behavior universal within the entire scope of Hollywood, but it does exist and no one should assume that they are immune to what has happened to so many others ahead of them. Of course, until it happens to them, they really can't envision such a thing. Hopefully, this type of "notification" system will cease to exist, but being that this is Hollywood, in particular network TV, I don't see that happening in my lifetime.
At this point, I think Ms. Nichols would want to move full steam ahead in promoting her upcoming movie and get on to the business of seeking out new projects. A reoccuring role for her on CM is one that really wouldn't make much sense at this juncture, aside from the fact that I don't think she'd want to step back into this situation, chosing rather to make a clean break and head into something else. Her situation is different than AJ and Paget's in that both of those roles were firmly entrenched on the show and their departures altered the look and dynamic of the show in a noticeably bad way. Even the character of Erin Strauss has more footing within the structure of CM than the role played by Ms. Nichols and thus makes more sense to see in a reoccuring capacity. As Sharon pointed out, Ms. Nichols got an opportunity that only a small few in this industry ever get to have and if she has the right people around her can definitely use as a springboard to jump into other projects. I wouldn't think she'd be placing herself on hold to see whether or not she will be called to "wrap" up her role and if she were called I think it is something that can realistically happen in one episode. The character she played on CM (cadet turned probationary agent) is such that a simple she's moving on to a field office to start her FBI career fits with what someone at her rank would be facing. It wouldn't be a decision that her character would have to agonize over, it is just the way things work after someone has completed their probabtionary period, a probationary period that wouldn't be getting completed at a unit at the level of the BAU, but that is water under the bridge now.
And IF he did reveal the truth during the grief assessment because he couldn't bear to hear their pain, that made him disqualified for the leader and he shouldn't do the assessment in the first place."
I don`t agree at all with that. It might be right to not tell the whole team that Prentiss is alive(although I don`t agree with that either) but I think Hotch should have let somebody else do the grief assessments. He listens to their grief knowing they are only grieving because he is lying to them.
Rossi is always there for him, helping him through everything . He and Hotch have known each other many years and still Hotch is lying him in the face. Reid is almost crying in front of Hotch and thinking about giving up his job. Morgan who doesn`t trust easily and who had to hold back his own grief because he had to be strong for Reid and Garcia opens up in front of Hotch whom he believes he can trust and shows him his deepest pain and grief.
Only to find out later that Hotch was not only not telling them the truth about Prentiss "death" in the first place but even using their thrust in him to get them to open up to him. Hotch doing the grief assessments was in my eyes misusing the teams trust in him and it should lead to them distrusting him when they finally find out.
It also makes no sense that Hotch voluntered to do the assessments to protect the team, because he reported the results of the assessments to Strauss. The grief assessments should have been done by a neutral person, by someone who is not involved at all with the team and the "Prentiss situation".
I admit, Hotch doing the grief assessments gave us some very nice and intense scenes between him and the others. But even though it is not a populat opinion on this board, I stick to my opinion that he should not have done them. He did not do them a favor doing them, quite the oposite. He made it harder for them to trust again.
I am a huge TG/Hotch fan and I love to see him interacting with the team but I have to say I found those grief assessment scenes to be rather unbelievable. This was a season where we really did not see enough of Hotch as the strong leader and then we see him almost as therapist. I did not understand why he was doing these assessments in the first place; to me it just seemed like an overly obvious device to show him as the team leader and a bone to us Hotch fans. I work for myself so I don't really know how these kinds of workplaces operate but it seems to me that an outsider with counselling skills would be have been brought in to talk with people suffering what they had just suffered. I know people say he volunteered because nobody knows the team like he does and they wouldn't have opened up to an outsider. However Hotch is not exactly a warm and fuzzy character and I'm not sure he would inspire the sharing of feelings/confidences those interviews were supposed to elicit. I can see how they were also a device to set up future explanations on the rationale for keeping the secret about Emily and they may be able to work that in if TG comes back to us. Watching them at the time though I did not feel they made any sense as realistic portrayals of human interaction. Of course there are plenty of other examples of this kind of deviation from reality, it is a TV show after all and, dare I say it, a police procedural. How the different characters will react to the news that Emily is alive, I have no idea. Waiting to see how realistic/believable the writers will make that.
How many characters get a chance to wrap up their stories if they are summarily fired?
1. When Melina Kanakarades decided not to come back to CSI:NY after several years, she didn't show up in the season premiere to finish her story, even though she had been a series regular since the beginning. The show just time jumped forward.
2. When ABC let Brooke Smith go from Grey's Anatomy, they informed her the week she filmed her last episode that she wasn't coming back. Her story just abruptly ended and that was that.
3. CBS didn't even want to bring AJ back to finish her story (after being on the show for five years), but caved in to fan outrage.
4. As someone astutely pointed out, Forrest Whittaker and the CMSB gang got 13 episodes to make their case to the viewing audience (same number of episodes as Rachel). Clearly they didn't, and CBS canceled that show. If Kirsten found out via the Internet, how do you think the rest of the cast and crew found out? Probably the same way.
5. Law and Order was summarily canceled by NBC last year AFTER filming the season finale. That show was on 20 YEARS, and they didn't get the courtesy of a notification until it was too late to finish up the series. It just ended.
And these are just a few examples I can think of off the top of my head to add to what we've already been talking about.
As terrific as the news was this weekend about Paget's return, this show does not and will not work without Thomas on board and the ENTIRE team is back the way it was(and should have been all along!). Surely this is not too hard a concept for CBS to figure out?Could someone go explain it to them so that they once and for all 'get it'?I for one, am sick of the drama and behind-the-scenes crap we have had to endure for a year now. Enough is enough. Get everyone on board, asap,or CBS may find their once top ten show in the basement. If any of this occurs this time next year when Matthew's contract comes due, I think CBS better prepare for some really p%%%%d fans armed with pitchforks and torches if things go sour.
LaShawna, I hope people read your latest post before bringing up that subject again as it so succinctly drives home that point. I don't think people have any idea how much this sort of thing happens in the industry as they are trying to turn how Rachel got fired into some sort of scandalous event in network TV. It isn't, it may be offensive to some and lacks the professionalism that some are used to, but this really isn't some egregious event that is going to alter the state of network TV (and believe me, this is mild compared to what has happened to other actors). This is not to say I personally agree with actors not being told their options aren't getting picked up before the media but it happens and that is an unfortunate fact. Also, LaShawna is correct in that when people get let go from a show, there isn't this "Hey, well come back next season so we can wrap up your story" situation. No, a decision was made to let the person go, and that is that. It is up to the writers then to figure out how, or even if, they will explain that characters absence on the show.
The ONLY reason AJ came back to wrap up her story was because of the fan uproar that CBS could not ignore. AJ and Paget garnered so much fan outcry at a level that I'm sure the network wasn't expecting. It is was what led to them having AJ come back to wrap up her story and what drove them to ask for Paget to return season 7 (ultimately ending with them agreeing to a pilot out option for Paget, with Paget agreeing to allow an option to be placed on her). If there hadn't of been a fan outcry on the level that there was for these two women, season 6 would have started with no trace of AJ and Paget would have eventually faded off of the show. Considering such outcry, it's sad that the network didn't see the writing on the wall back then that letting go of AJ and Paget was a huge mistake, but that too is a common occurence in network TV.
LaShawna also correctly quoted what it seems someone else said at different time and that is that Rachel Nichols had the same amount of time that the cast of CMSB had to prove themselves to the viewing audience. It didn't happen, they were able to get both AJ and Paget back so now they are going to move forward with what really shouldn't have been tampered with in the first place.
CMFAN11 said... "Does anyone know if paget is returning for the full season? according to E! online it says her new deal is limited episodes. Is that true or did they get mixed up with her deal from last season? Someone please tell me it's full season lol the confusion is stressing me out lol"
CBS changed its mind about Paget leaving and asked her to return for the remaining episodes of Seson 6; however Paget opted to maintain the renegotiated contract, which enabled her to go after pilots.
It was reported by several sources during that time that CBS had offered her the option to return as a fulltime regular for Season 7.
I suspect the information in the E Online article references the Season 6 terms, not the terms for Season 7. As a fulltime regular, I'm sure she'll be paid of all of the episodes, whether she appears in them or not.
I'm getting reeeeally tired of CBS stalling on TG's contract negotiations. With the potential storylines, the work that TG has done for CM for 6 years, as Hotch and off camera, he has earned a lucrative contract. As much as I welcome back PB with open arms, for me it means nothing without Hotch. CBS, this is no longer funny or a good publicity stunt. Sign TG now.
No HOTCH No WATCH. NO HOTCH/TG No more CM or CBS for me.
ITA Meghan, all this waiting is making me not only nervous, but completely PO'd. CBS needs to get it through their thick skulls how important Hotch is to CM and give him something decent to sign. He deserves a raise and doesn't seem like the kind of guy to ask for a ridiculous amount. He's my fave character (and I know I'm not alone in that!) :) and sure as he** won't continue to watch CM without him, no matter who they bring back.
PTB, re-sign Thomas and give CM fans a well-deserved break!
I think AJ came back for two episodes because she had been part of the two-part finale and they couldn't very well just have her disappear during the blackout never to be seen again and this gave the showrunners an opportunity to exit her properly. Otherwise, she just would've been gone with some mention of where she went regardless of the fan backlash.
I'm fed up with the TG contract situation and cannot muster any excitement for next season while it remains unresolved, but I will say that while the gang may be upset with Hotch for lying to them, they might want to step back, put themselves in his shoes and try to imagine how hard it was for him all that time. They all had each other to share their grief with, while he, as usual, was all alone with his big awful secret and forced to watch people he cares about hurt. JJ got off easy. She didn't have to see them every day.
Judging by some of the comments you'd think the man willfully or maliciously lied to them. He did the assessments because he is their boss and needed to know where they were emotionally, but also because he cares about them and as is typical for him was trying to take care of them and protect them. I think it would be pretty amazing to have someone in my life that cared so much he was willing to do something so painfully difficult.
For these trained agents to feel the need to feel a loss of trust or a loss of friendship over what was a pretty noble act seems like they'd come off as a group of immature children instead of reasonable adults.
If someone I cared about died and I found out months later that he/she hadn't really died, but that people lied to me for a good reason. I'd be so slap happy that the person was indeed alive that I can't imagine I'd take more than a moment or two to be upset over being kept in the dark and I certainly wouldn't take it so personally I'd feel the need to feel betrayed or like I couldn't trust that person anymore.
Michael, I don't understand why you're acting so self righteous now. In one of your previous posts you claimed that you would never support a show that treated its actors like crap, then why did you stick around after AJ was let go in essentially the same manner? In fact, if I were you, I would have been more furious over how AJ was dismissed, she had been on the show since the second episode, she was well-loved by a majority of the fan-base, she worked hard on the show for FIVE years and was responsible in part, for its success. Rachel was only on for thirteen episodes, didn't really add anything to the show, her character was blah...so just get over it. I'm not condoning the way she was treated by the TPTB, but she was not an integral part of the show. And please I'm requesting you to stop acting like she is never, ever going to get a job again. She is young, pretty, and whilst I'm not particularly a fan of her acting skills, I'm sure she has other fans who are as loyal to her as you. She's going to be fine.
Oh yes Heyya i was upset when they said AJ was not coming back. i was mad at hell. But she is coming back now so all is good with her.
I just don't think Rachel deserved all the crap she got from the fans. She did her best with the character. And i feel like those who were mean to her is somewhat to blame for all this mess. And its not right at all.
I think you should watch The Woods, P2, Amityville horror.GI Joe and Inside and some other stuff Rachel has made. She really is a great actress that got treated so badly. She did not deserve that.
Thanks for clearing that up for me sdwally now I feel less stressed. Now TG just needs 2 hurry up and get signed. The way Erica messer was talking in her tv guide interview she sounds pretty confident he'll come back. I hope he does. If he doesn't they'll lose alot of fans and make a HUGE mistake.
The team is nearly intact except for Hotch. CBS, what in the hell is going on? I cannot believe that Thomas Gibson is asking for some overinflated amount of money per episode that you so willingly forked over to some of the actors on your other shows. Does the last name Sheen ring a bell? No, well, how about David Caruso who is the lead on a show that was just inches away from being canceled. The last time I read, David Caruso was making $375,000 per episode on a show that didn't even crack the top ten. What kind of foolery is this CBS!
According to Deadline, Criminal Minds came in 17th in series rankings for adults 18-49 (you know, the demo that pays the bills!), CSI Miami came in 42nd place. In total viewers, Criminal Minds came in 10th place (tying with CSI). CSI Miami came in 21st place.
Thomas Gibson is a big factor in what has led to the success of this show. Since day one, he has shown nothing but dedication to this show and has worked tirelessly along with the rest of this cast to turn this show into the success that it is, despite the dreadful lack of promotion on your end. Speaking of promoting the show, Thomas Gibson has appeared on many shows this past year promoting Criminal Minds. From what I know, David Caruso hasn't done nearly the amount of promotion for CSI Miami that Thomas Gibson has done for Criminal Minds. I'd think that earning $375,000 per episode would include doing a little promotion here and there, but I guess I'm wrong.
It is unbelievable to me that you would correct some of the errors that you've made this past season to only completely drop the ball on Thomas Gibson. You have been kicking this show in the teeth since the end of season 4 when you fired the majority of the shows top writers and for the life of me I don't know why. If money is an issue in these negotiations, then PAY UP! Thomas Gibson has more than earned his keep and then some!
I just read in a financial article that a company had made a "small loss of around 60 million pounds". I don't think we should spend any time speculating about money and how much anyone is asking for. It's a relative world and god alone knows what is a 'small' amount and what is 'big' or what is a 'reasonable' demand!
Speaking of Horatio - Jim Carrey's parodic impersonation of David Caruso's character was classic :-D
They all had each other to share their grief with, while he, as usual, was all alone with his big awful secret and forced to watch people he cares about hurt. ..... He did the assessments because he is their boss and needed to know where they were emotionally, but also because he cares about them and as is typical for him was trying to take care of them and protect them. I think it would be pretty amazing to have someone in my life that cared so much he was willing to do something so painfully difficult.
Very well said. The intention behind keeping the secret was not out of ill will or because he couldn't trust them. He did it to protect them. As friends of Hotch, and as reasonable adults who work in a field where secrecy is a common practice in order to protect yourself and others, I would imagine that they would be shocked at first but that they would be able to get over it pretty quickly.
Not all secrets are bad. Some are necessary for survival or for some other good and reasonable purpose. When the team found out Emily had been keeping secrets about her past in order to protect herself and the team, they were surprised but immediately rallied to support her. I would imagine the same would also happen when Hotch and JJ reveal this additional extension of Emily's secret. Additionally, secrets are a burden. when you share a secret with someone and ask them to be co-keepers of the secret, you are placing a burden on them. In this case, a very heavy burden - for if the secret is found out, Emily will be in danger, the team will be in danger, etc. Hotch carrying the burden for himself (and JJ because she already knew) is a huge sacrifice. I wholeheartedly agree that I think it would be pretty amazing to have someone in my life that cared so much he was willing to do something so painfully difficult.
Also, the team are profilers, not actors. If they knew the secret and Doyle was watching them, he may pick up on falseness of their "grieving". He was already suspicious of Emily's first "death" lol so of course he would be watching the team closely for signs that Emily is not really dead (again... LOL). Can you imagine Garcia trying to act grief??!! LOL. If Doyle is watching the team, seeing Garcia in all-out grief mode would help convince him of Emily's death. Hotch is right in keeping the secret between he and JJ and I think the team would be understanding once Doyle is eliminated and the secret can be revealed. Additionally, from a show perspective, to have "ZOMG! You had a big fat secret and didn't tell me too! How could you?!" drama drawn out as an arc for an extended amount of episodes would really irritate me.
Peggy you are so absolutely right!! I hope TPTB read everything you wrote, read it again, then read it one more time. Re-read it as many times as necessary until they UNDERSTAND that Thomas Gibson and Hotch are necessary to the show.
If they thought the fan backlash for AJ and Paget were bad, I foresee the backlash for TG to be even worse. When eonline didn't close their "Most UnderAppreciated Entertainer of the Year" poll in time, TG's fans raised hell on twitter. Despite only being an hour or so late to close the poll, the eonline twitter account had to issue an apology to calm down all the irate TG fans. LOL! And that was just an online poll!! Look on twitter now, and do a search for "Thomas Gibson" you will see how many people are already concerned about his lack of contract. Can you imagine the sh*tstorm that will occur if CBS makes the same mistake as last year? Hell hath no fury like a fandom scorned!
I don't think it is wise for TPTB to stall so long in making the decision. The writers have already returned to work. TPTB are shooting themselves in the foot by not having the cast completed and will only end up with more bad, unfocused writing.
CBS: Take Nike's advice: JUST DO IT. Sign TG to a new deal so the writers can write for the show with certainty and confidence.
Your perspectives on Hotch's maintaining the secret and performing the grief assessments were beautifically stated. I agree with you both wholeheatedly and could not have expressed it any better.
zagi: "My main problem with the whole lying about Prentiss death situation is that Hotch was doing the grief assessments. He watches their grief and knows they are only grieving because of a lie. And they trust him with their grief and will eventually find out that he was lying to them all the time. He should have let somebody else do the grief assessments."
If Hotch had let someone else do the assessments, someone else also would have had to write the reports of these assessments which were to be forwarded to Strauss. By doing the assessments himself, Hotch had the chance to maybe tweak the reports a bit in case a problem showed up that could jeopardize the team or a member of it. Strauss had tried to break up the team for some time now, Hotch wanted to protect it. That's why I think he did the assessments himself.
Will the team be p*oed when they find out? I mean first of all they'll be happy that Emily is alive and back. Then they will be annoyed and hurt, but ultimately they'll understand. They are professionals, agents, who know how things like these work.
For the show itself, I hope they don't drag this "the team deals with Hotch and JJ knowing that Emily's alive" thing out too much. As many on here, I have become a bit tired of storyarcs. I'm not entirely against them, but we've had so many these past years, I could do with a season without them.
This contract situation is getting ridiculous. Is it possible that TG has already signed and they just hold back with the news for some reason? Anyway: No Hotch/TG, no CM for me.
Michael: I have seen P2 ,G.I. Joe and Alias I didn't like her in any. R.N. Was the reason I couldn't sit through P2 (and Wes Bentley is one of my favs) This was all pre C.M. So I wasn't biased. Her acting style is def. Not for me. I respect that you are a fan of hers but you also need to accept that not everyone thinks she's a great actress. I'm not sorry to see her go. While I dont think the way she found out was right chalk it up to Hollywood. It happens all the time.
Re: Hotch and the grief assessments, I would have to agree with sf81387 and Miranda. Altho', I have to say zagi made such a good case for a different viewpoint. I appreciated her thoughts and it made me stop and think - kind of like when you are too close to a situation and you need to step back and re-assess.
I have to say, the Hotch I know is the person/boss that sf and Miranda describe and I believe that the team will view his actions just as previously stated: they will immediately feel relief and happiness when they learn that Prentiss is alive; be somewhat upset realizing that Hotch lied to them, maybe even more hurt than anything and then because they are family first (AND professionals)they will forgive him and move on. Morgan may take a little longer because of his temperament but I doubt that it will take long. I don't see any long-lasting repercussions from this situation....OK, as soon as I say that, I realize that could be a future storyline, depending on the circumstance....it's mind-blowing to brainstorm about all this. I wish we could help those writers. Or at least make sure they read our blog and our ideas. AND watch all the prev epis. First and foremost. Then call us if they suffer a memory lapse....Karen, Pat, sev. others and myself will come to their rescue with facts spewing from our mouths that would rival a Reid rant/ramble!
Have a great day everybody! I can't believe it's June already!
I have an idea for an unsub. The unsub finds his/her victims on public transportation buses. He/she finds the ones that are sleeping and injects them with some quick-injecting needle with something that kills them. I don't know what the motivation would be though. Maybe an Angel of Mercy type serial killer? But has the show done that too many times already? I just read a news item a while back about some crazy guy who attacked a sleeping passenger on a bus and I found it creepy as hell! Because I've fallen asleep on public transportation before... creepy!!
Hmm...been reading some of the posts, I agree with some and don't with a few. As far as Agent Seaver, I was not fond of the character. She was poorly written and for me she did not fit in. I was NOT happy about JJ leaving. I also did not like Prentiss being 'reduced'. It was all just plain stupid to me. I am happy Pretiss is coming back (should make for some really interesting episodes explaing that), and very happy JJ is coming back. I am happy Agent Seaver is beign written out, I think it is for the best.
Having said that, I DO NOT agree with the way Rachel Nichols found out!! It is VERY tacky and classless. If it is true, TPTB should be ashamed. It was bad enough that they screwed around with two favorite characters and the writing for the whole season. It was more than enough bad press and drama, they didn't need to add this to the list. Some posters stated that AJ and Paget found out practically the same way. Is this true? They found out thru the media? I never read that anywhere. If so, it sucks and it still does not justify doing it to another actress. What happened to our girls was stupid and is FINALLY being corrected. But it was not RN's fault. So although her being let go is good for the show, the way they did it was not. Bringing up crap from the past, and saying she should know what she was getting into, or it is just CBS or Hollywood, or she should be happy she was on the show for however many episodes does not make it okay. Period.
I hope her character does not come back to clear up anything, I too want to just move on. And TPTB have screwed up enough. We don't need them screwing that up too.
I know that after I write this I will probably feel like a total jerk but this has been in the back of my mind ever since season 3. I wonder what would happen if Penelope were to be kidnapped? We know a little about her past but what would the team do, how would they cope, especially Morgan? What if while she spent time underground she make some not so wise choices and made some enemies that come back to haunt her? I think that after JJ left and Emily 'died' she has grown a lot. Yes, she still doesnt like to see the crime scene photos but I think that if she were to be put in a situation where it were life and death she would be a little more equipt then she was when she was shot. I think that event in itself helped her realize that even she isnt untouchable. Just wondered if I was the only one out there that would like to see a bit more of Penelope's back story...
It's great that we have such different views on how the Prentiss arc should play out, and that's because both 'sides' are right. But i fear that Minds, because of the kind of show it is, will not be able to take it as far as possible. Although the show is based on adult themes, it isn't really adult in many ways, is it, given the constraints and censorship of network TV? If you compare it with a show like Boardwalk Empire, for instance, Minds is really for kids in that it is sanitised for mass consumption. The writers are caught between trying to keep the characters likable while trying to put them in situations that would in real life make them behave in ambivalent, perhaps unlikable, ways. What would otheriwse have been a gritty subliminal tension, is in actuality a show that is quite undecided about what it wants to be and what it can be. Well, that is just my opinion. I love Minds, but i also wonder what it could be under different circumstances. Popularity is a *&^%%^^ :-)
okay the writing team resumed today. how can u discuss season 7 with Hotch when he doesn't have a contract yet? I said it b4 that I was a fan of agent Seaver, however I just HATE it when a character just disappears. Bring her back for just 1 episode. She can get killed by Doyle while saving Prentiss life. That way RN can have a little redemption from her time on CM. Does anyone agree???
Disagree.... If anybody is going to kill Doyle, it will have to be Prentiss herself, or maybe Hotch, but I'd prefer Prentiss. Plus, for me, that would not be redeeming, it would be annoying. Also, they are not going to kill Doyle straight off, so that would require way more than one episode.
I don't hate RN, but seriously, the show needs to move past the Seaver character. There isn't anything to wrap up with her. A simple line uttered by either Hotch or Rossi saying that she moved on to another office, maybe with the Andi Swan character, is sufficient and would make sense being that she is a probationary agent. This character was on for less than a season, really, it is not that serious. JMO.
Okay, I am getting REALLY concerned now... supposedly the writers have started meeting to work on Season 7 as of today, and yet there is STILL no contract for Thomas Gibson!? I agree with what Peggy said... if this is a money issue, then CBS needs to bite the bullet and give the man what he wants! There are so many actors out there that they are OVER paying, Thomas Gibson is one actor worth whatever salary he is asking for!!!
CBS, please, PLEASE don't repeat past mistakes. Sign TG back on before you lose a large percentage of CM fans!!!
It's taking so long for Thomas to sign. I'm going to be totally honest, every time I come to this blog, I expect to find bad news.
Not that lately that has happened a lot, not at all, I'm so happy about AJ and Paget and glad that Seaver is no longer on the show, it's just that CBS never fails to disappoint.
About Rachel Nichols, I have to say, even though I have never seen her on anything before she joined the show, I'm glad I got the opportunity and actually looked for her past work. I especially liked her on The Inside.
And I agree, she is off to greater things and I intent to follow her career. Especially her movie career, which I think she is much more suitable for.
And I'm sorry to hear how she found out. No one could give her a call? Keep it classy, CBS.
What is going on CBS!!!!! At this point, what is the hold up? This contract matter for TG has been going on for months and months now. I love, love, love, that AJ and Paget are coming back but TG MUST come back as well. What gives? Don't even think of starting the season without TG there!!!!
I just do not get why all this is taking so long with regards to Thomas signing or not. Surely they are not sitting down each and every day talking, negotiating, etc?I know nothing of the procedures of course, but how long can a contract be, a few pages at the most?I doubt Thomas is looking for 2 million per episode like 'a former person at that network' used to get.Are the announcements about both ladies' return just to soften the blow that Thomas may not, god forbid, come back at all, or is this yet another 'brilliant' tactic by CBS to leave us hanging by a thread?I think after this last debacle, disaster, train wreck, insert any other description that would fit season 6, they should know that a lot of us have very little patience or tolerance left when it comes to them? Come on CBS, you are not negotiating world peace here, get our star signed,as in yesterday!
Possible scenario for the season 7 opener: Reid wakes up on the jet, after having a bad headache, and thinks he is hallucinating that there was a newbie,JJ was gone and Emily 'died'.He is quite anxious and upset until ALL THE TEAM convince him it was a horrible nightmare that never took place. If only we could all say that. Sorry, this past season was a wipeout for me. I shall not be checking AMAZON to see when the boxed set comes out for this one. With the exception of 'JJ' and 'Lauren' which tore my heart out, the only other one worth mentioning imho is 'Coda'.
Folks, As fans of the show - like the character or not, I can tell you that Rachel Nichols is a wonderful person. If you want to have a window into a funny, and great person who is awesome to her fans follow @rachelnichols1 on twitter. She is really great.
And before I get flamed, the thread is for "what's on your mind" and this is what's on my mind.
No one is going to flame you Anonymous (GW), at least they shouldn't, LOL. I didn't personally like the character on the show, and considering how it was going, I think the show and the network made the right decision in moving past that character. I thought it was an ill-conceived and ill- fitting character for Criminal Minds. That being said, I think I would be correct in saying that a lot of people wish her well in her future endeavors. I'm sure that she will move onto other projects.
P.S. Please get Gibson signed on ASAP! The writers are back in writing mode and whether Gibson will return or not is still up in the air. This is crazy! Let's not make this a repeat of last season, all of the other characters are set which is fantastic, but Gibson is still without a contract. Please get him on board already!
I agree, Anon... I check this blog multiple times daily, and each time I am hoping for the best but I now find myself expecting the worst. This is stressing me out more than a TV show ever should...
I'm getting to the point where I'm starting to wish I had never started following it in the first place. Someone else said something that is very true... after Mandy Pantinkin left, everyone thought it was the end of the show. But Thomas Gibson stepped up and took his place as the HEART of the show. I don't see any of the current characters able to do that if TG leaves. He HAS to stay!
Not signing TG at this point, especially after the disaster that was Season 6, will be the killing blow for CM!!!
I hate to sound rude and insulting, but this is rude and insulting to the fans, and to TG.
CBS needs to stop sitting around picking their noses and SAVE THEIR SHOW!!! And that REQUIRES SIGNING THOMAS GIBSON!!!
CBS!!! SWALLOW YOUR PRIDE AND GIVE THE MAN WHAT HE WANTS!!! HE'S WORTH IT!!!
I too am completely at a loss with regards to the contract situation for TG. We know TG wants to be back, we know the CM producers want him back, heck - with the exception of a few - everyone wants him back. He's a fan favorite. And it' not like there weren't still many storylines to explore about him. So what's the deal? Or rather why isn't there a deal yet? I can't imagine TPTB aren't aware of all of the above and don't want him back. I can't imagine TG has unreasonable demands. They just doubled Shemar's salary - deservedly so. Surely, it's in their budget too to give TG a good raise. Maybe even double his salary too. Now they've cancelled CM:SB (neither FW nor JG came cheap, I'm sure) and they decided to not take up on their option on RN, there surely is some money left. I'm losing hope by the day and can't even get myself to watch the good old episodes on my DVDs, because seeing our wonderful "old" team from season 3 thru 5 and thinking that we are THIS close to have that back but still the unthinkable could happen is just too frustrating. I felt so upbeat at the beginning of the week after the news of Paget's return - something I had almost completely lost hope for - and reading Erica Messer's interview with TV Guide. And TG's tweets sounded so cheerful too (but when isn't this man cheerful?), so I was sure we would hear good news soon, but it's dragging. *sigh* Sorry, I don't want to be a downer, but... well, that's what's on my mind. I agree with those who say that the best cast won't help much if the writing doesn't improve. But I personally won't see anything of the improved writing if Hotch isn't on board.
It is VERY upsetting to come on here and read that the writers have already gone back to work with TG not signed yet. I have had it with all the stupid decisions TPTB have been making. It is seriously a huge turn off. How can the writers write well when they don't know to write Hotch or not? That's just crazy to me. With AJ and PB being brought back I had high hopes that TPTB had finally understood that we fans just want our team back. The team is not whole without Hotch and i will not be watching Season 7 without him.
the writers have already gone back to work with TG not signed yet.
What a ridiculous situation.
Furthermore, TG is going to be promoting CM without having been signed on yet for the next season. Way to leave your man out to dry there, TPTB!! Stop the stupid decisions and get this show going. Get TG signed and get some good writers (or whip your current ones into shape!).
Heather said "....TG is going to be promoting CM without having been signed on yet for the next season" That's something I don't quite get. Are we talking about the Monaco trip here? If this is a promotion for CM why would he do it without having a contract? Does the trip depend on him having a contract? Did he agree to do it thinking the contract was in the bag? Is he still going to make the trip? Poor him, having to make that awful journey and silly me, who may never get to go there, certainly not for free, worrying about it. LOL
To me, for the writers to be working without knowing the status of TG, I mean WTH? How can that be efficient? Unless they are just brainstorming some newspapers and crime journals for new case ideas, how far can they actually go? With such a key person's availability up in the air, I see them spinning their wheels and Erica sweating bullets. (Like we are, right?)
I'm with all of you here: Please resolve this ASAP and do not waste more precious time! Since you have an entire lost season to make-up for, you truly cannot afford to waste a minute.
Please, Thomas, if they are offering you anything at all reasonable, sign on for your fans! We love you and want you back, and we are SO close to having things the way they were with AJ and PB back: they need you...we need you and can't take this limbo situation much longer!
It's the Monte Carlo TV Festival and it looks like he has been confirmed as attending. As for the answers to the rest of your questions, I'm afraid I don't know.
In his last chat he said that he was taking his wife and kids with him to Monte Carlo, so it sounds like it'll be a nice little family vacation in-between the promoting of CM. When he gets back he's hosting the SAG Foundation Golf Classic on June 13th with Joe Mantegna. : )
I am really happy about AJ and Paget. I kinda feel sorry for RN, but it happens. But I think she needs one leaving-episode. Something about her father maybe? Some of you may disagree about giving her an episode, but it wouldn't be CM. You (and me) wanted CM back, and it won't be back, if they just say "Oh, Seaver didn't make it after the cuts".
I'm excited how Prentiss will be back. And how the others will react. In my mind it goes like this: Morgan will be angry to Hotch and Emily, but in his heart, he is happier than ever. Hotch will be delight, as well JJ. Rossi will be kinda disappointed cause they didn't tell to him, but he will be happy too. Garcia is happy, of course. Oh, maybe she'll be ill-tempered at first, but she can't go with it for long. Reid will be very angry or very happy. Or he'll be dissapointed, because he didn't figue it out..
I just hope that CM will be like before, and I won't pretend that s6 never happened; every tv-show has their up and downs. And TG has to be back. CM without him is like... fire without smoke!
This waiting game is so ridiculous. Just let the fans know already, ugh.
I agree and I think it shows a lack of consideration for the production staff by both parties involved. I suppose if they want to continue with their little "negotiation" game the writers will just have to carry on assuming there will be no Hotch and write him in later if he comes back. What else can they do? It's probably easier to write him in a meaningless line here and there after the fact then to create something with the character heavily involved and have to try to undo it.
Actually the idea of Hotch not being around for the "ZOMG!!! You lied to us!" melodrama that so many fans seem to be frothing at the mouth for would be okay with me because I'm ready for this show to get back to its roots, which is a good story with a creepy unsub and the really smart FBI agents who catch them using their brains, not their brawn.
"You (and me) wanted CM back, and it won't be back, if they just say "Oh, Seaver didn't make it after the cuts".
Why wouldn't it? This character was not a central character in the show and to expend any more time on it is just plain ridiculous. It is completely plausible that she would be transferred, budget crisis or no, because she is a probationary agent and as such after her probationary period would be transferred to another unit. Why would they need a complete episode about that? And about her dad? What, he got released from prison, she got a letter from him? Why would that at all be relevant to season 7 being that she will not be there for season 7?
I never thought this character was a fit for CM and I am glad that the character will not appear on the show any longer. This is not to say that I wish RN any harm, on the contrary, I hope nothing but the best for RN. But the character that she played on the show was not like a JJ or Prentiss where the one episode argument would make sense because they had such a mark on the show that them leaving out of nowhere would have been odd to say the least. I don't see anything that couldn't be wrapped up by Hotch or Rossi saying that she completed her probation and was transferred to another office that needs to be dealt with in an episode.
They need to hit the ground running fresh with season 7. There are plenty of things that need to get addressed. 1. How/why is JJ coming back? What is Rossi's role in that? 2. Is Garcia in or out? Is she going to take Kevin up on his offer? 3. Is Hotch in or out of the Unit? Will he be taking on more of Strauss duties? Will JJ be taking some of Strauss' duties? Then let's not forget the biggest issue of them all Prentiss and the effects of her return to the BAU, added with the Hotch and JJ knowing that she is alive. I want those issues tackled, screen time focused on that, so that we can get on with CM, not drag out a departure for a 13 episode character.
Right now, my main concern is about TG and getting him back on board. Once he's a lock, let's get it going with the team and get back to the show that TPTB in their wisdom decided to muck up. Their isn't any need to spend more time, even if it is just 1 episode, on that character. The team (provided that TPTB sign TG back on, which they had better do!) will be back together. Let's focus on them and get this show back up and running again, please!
"because I'm ready for this show to get back to its roots, which is a good story with a creepy unsub and the really smart FBI agents who catch them using their brains, not their brawn."
Yes, me too!! Let's get this show on the road already!!
Over the moon that the family is close to whole again and optimistic that we'll see TG signed up again too.
For Season 7, would love to see the great balance observed in S1-4 of intricate, edge-of-the-seat storylines with amazing guest stars like Curry and Van der Beek and BAU team member-centered eps.
Happy as I am that Paget's back, I hope the return-of-Prentiss/ demise-of-Doyle arc doesn't continue for more than an episode or two...I found that it went on for too many eps in S6.
Wishing the cast and crew a fun and restful break and a set of dynamite S7 scripts to return to!
I'm w/ everyone who thinks we should just move on from Seaver and S6 and get back to what this show is about.... the profiling. I can't wait to see the team back together throwing out ideas and getting inside the minds of the unsub. Though I wouldn't mind seeing Morgan kick down a door or two (when's the last time we had a good door scene?) Hopefully we get good news about T.G. soon and can rest easy knowing our WHOLE team is together again.
I completely agree. Although I understand that's how hollywood is and have no problem with Rachel Nichols, there is still no reason to brng a character back that wasn't even that expierenced or relatable that none of the fans connected with nor liked. Season 7 should focus on a good way to get prentiss back then go back to the old ways of writing with a little bit of personality of our CM family and moments outside of work.
Also I don't understand why so many people think rachel nichols should get a full episode to finish her storyline when her character was just a rookie and NOWHERE near as qualified or seasoned FBI agent like JJ and Prentiss.
Lastly, I don't understand why people want to give her an episode when 99% of CM fans hated her character with a passion. Let's not confuse CBS and let them bring seaver back when there's alot more important things to concentrate on for S7.
I don't mean any offense towards anyone who likes RN/Seaver just callin it like I see it.
I think saying 99% is a bit presumptuous, but I do agree that it is best to not re-introduce that character in season 7. Season 6 was a rough season for many different resons and I think it is just best to move on and concentrate on the team, kicking out some good scripts, and above all, get TG signed that we can head into season 7 with the team intact and solid.
Maybe Season 6 could be like “It Never Happened One Night.” Opening scene with Prentiss…“Oh, Hotch, Hotch, Hotch, let’s pretend this never happened.” everyone can pull out a can of whip cream and spray each other…hilarious laughter can then ensue.
Forgive me, I’m as big a D & G fan as I am of CM; truthfully it’s Thomas!
I have to say that if the writers are meeting and making plots with Thomas Gibson in them, then it seems to me that they want him to come back and are planning Season 7 as if he is there. It seems that they really want him back its just a matter of semantics. After all I dont think its the writer's fault that he has no contract.
I agree with all of you that are saying we need the WHOLE team back. It is not good for the show for the writers not to have a definite set of characters to write for. However, I don't think the writers would have to necessarily assume no Hotch in order to do their work right now. Maybe while they're waiting they can just do brainstorming for general unsub ideas, plot lines (some with and some without Hotch), psychological illnesses, profiling research, BAU research, or like gubegirl, Karen and Pat suggested, just holing up and watching the CM DVDS ;)
That said, I do think it would be for the best if TG's contract situation gets settled soon so that the writers can have at it will their full attention, full force. Come on CBS, TG is *so* worth it and *so* deserves it. Just give the man what he wants or at least something reasonably close to what he wants so that he will sign. Please put us fans out of our misery. Or else you may find that all your viewers have landed in mental institutes and unable to choose their TV programming for themselves.
I am not a fan of the Seaver character and would prefer not to have her return at all for S7. Especially not in the scenario someone above suggested, being martyred by saving Prentiss. I think that would anger a lot of fans. lol
That said, I have nothing against Rachel Nichols and if they decide to close up the Seaver character, I wouldn't begrudge her the chance. However, I don't think most CM fans would be as game for it I don't think. Good luck to her on her future endeavors, I'm sure she has a bright future ahead of her.
Good luck to Thomas Gibson on his negotiations and safe travels and happy adventures to he and his family on their trip to Monte Carlo. Hopefully the journalists won't pester him too badly about his contract negotiations. Although, if it helps CBS realize how important it is for TG to be part of Season 7 then I hope that every other question is about his negotiations!!
I agree that the Seaver character shouldn't be back at all. It was painful enough to deal with her on that many episodes in S6. In a perfect world, Hotch would explain why she left in once sentence and move on.
I think the returns of JJ and Prentiss should be dealt with within 2 at most 3 episodes. Then we can go back to the CM we all fell in love with.
I think the returns of JJ and Prentiss should be dealt with within 2 at most 3 episodes. Then we can go back to the CM we all fell in love with.
Totally agree with this. Would like to add that the CM we all fell in love with was focused on profiling with little (but meaningful!) team moments built in. I too am a little "arc-ed" out.
O and CM writers please remember Emily us branded in her chest with a clover and scarred on her stomach. Consistency is key this season. And I will not be at all happy if you
A) Don't get hotch/ the CM family all together next season B) As irrational and stupid as this sounds, as well as unlikely DO NOT do a documentary episode or any special episodes. C) In order to be successful this season GO BACK TO BASICS, after the prentiss arc is over with. That's all and I'll be happy and a faithful-worry free viewer once again
LunaM said "I too am completely at a loss with regards to the contract situation for TG. We know TG wants to be back, we know the CM producers want him back, heck - with the exception of a few - everyone wants him back. He's a fan favorite. And it' not like there weren't still many storylines to explore about him. So what's the deal? Or rather why isn't there a deal yet?"
Exactly!! I don't get it either! Seal the deal please CBS!!!
B) As irrational and stupid as this sounds, as well as unlikely DO NOT do a documentary episode or any special episodes
LOL!!
C) In order to be successful this season GO BACK TO BASICS, after the prentiss arc is over with.
Yes! I think they tried to do too much in S6. Too many arcs. Too many plotlines at one time (Story A, Story B, Story C all in one episode? LOL!). Too much ripping off of storylines (Bonnie & Clyde, Misery, SWF). Just too much. I think simple and clean is the way to go for S7.
D)More story lines with our beloved "genius" Reid.
I'd like more consistency regarding his "genius". For example, in one of the bomb episodes I think his eidetic memory was related to reading only. Then all of a sudden in 100 it's everything he hears or sees... like what?? haha
More re:Reid. I'd like to see his apartment! We've seen Hotch's place (both his house with Haley and his own apartment by himself), we've seen Garcia's love pad, we've seen Rossi's home office, we've seen Prentiss' place, we've seen Morgan's place (well, sort of... his mom's place I guess). The only housing we haven't had a glimpse of is JJ and Reid. I'd personally like to see what Reid's geek pad looks like. Perhaps with a cameo by Sergio the cat! And some empty pizza boxes lounging around probably. LOL!!
Oh, I would love to see his home. I can only imagine his apart with tones and tones of books everywhere!! He probably lives in a room at the back of a library! haha..
Hey, does anybody know how many languages is speaks or understands? The other day, I was re-watching one of the last episode with Prentiss and on the phone he invites her to go see a play in Russian and says "You and I are the only one who would understand it".
I was really surprised, but at the same time, I have a pretty bad memory. It's kind of good in a way, because I can watch the same episode over and over again and it's always new to me!!
And oh yeah, we've even seen Gideon's cabin in the woods and Elle's apartment when Hotch went there to clean up the blood on her wall. Oh and btw, the dish Gideon was cooking had a mega-ton of garlic in it if I remember right. haha! I love garlic. Though I'd rather have Hotch cooking for me than Gideon... BY FAR!! :D
Pearlseattle,
I'm sorry. I never noticed how many languages Reid speaks. I know that Prentiss speaks quite a few. Oh and yes, I can definitely imagine his apartment having wall-to-wall books. And LOL at your last sentence!!
You remember that Gideon was cooking and using lots of garlic?!? That's impressive!! Well I guess I will have to re-watch that episode AGAIN!!!
Does Paget really speaks any of those languages? Because I am French and her French was amazing. But she is a great actress so maybe she just learned a few sentences for those episodes.
I would LOVE to see Reid's place; I picture a tiny, 1 bedroom if not a studio apt, with a murphy or sofa bed,a kitchen with an empty frig but a coffee pot on the counter with a large travel mug next to it...and I could def imagine lots of books around.
We got to see the phone/ans. machine once on an end table (?) at JJ's during the epi where Will has taken Henry to the park (maybe) and JJ wants to alert him that there is a bomber out and about and Hotch has advised her not to.
Morgan's place wi would be next on my list after Reid's; wonder if it is the bachelor pad we might think it is. And who walks/feeds/takes Clooney out to do his business while he is aways? Poor neglected Clooney...maybe he hires a dog sitter.
I thought that Reid wanted Prentiss to go to the movie with him because he is the sci-fi freak but she can speak Russian and translate for him. But, hey, maybe he can read a book on Russian and learn on the way to the movie? LOL.
Isn't it fun to speculate on what we would love to see? Erica, are you reading this?....
"I think the returns of JJ and Prentiss should be dealt with within 2 at most 3 episodes. Then we can go back to the CM we all fell in love with.
Totally agree with this. Would like to add that the CM we all fell in love with was focused on profiling with little (but meaningful!) team moments built in. I too am a little "arc-ed" out."
I am in complete agreement with these statements. This type of focus and subtly is what made CM so great and what set it apart from all of the other crime dramas. I hope there is a return to that style.
I would also love to see other members of team's homes. We've seen 2 different Prentiss homes (I guess she moved?). I think it's about time we see another home. It would be fun to see what they do outside of the BAU.
Karen, that would be nice, but I wouldn't want them to get carried away with that, turning episodes into stories about this or that character. The strength, in my opinion, is the profiling with spurts of team interaction and perhaps glimpses of their lives outside of work. Too much of outside of the work glimpses, then it will veer way off the crime drama course and start entering into a completely different genre.
The wonderful thing about the way the show used to be written before is that the writers knew how to strike the balance between the two. That is what I hope they go back to.
I kind of like not knowing what Morgan, Reid or Rossi's homes look like. There is a lot to be said for using ones own imagination to fill in some gaps.
I have a picture in my head of these characters homes that I like bouncing around in my head, what usually ends up being created versus what I have in my head is not always satisfying for me and I bet others. It is like reading a book where there may be a description of a persons home, but the reader gets to bring that picture to light for him or herself.
1) yes Reid has an 'eidetic' memory, meaning he remembers everything he reads with perfect clarity.
2) But he still has an exceptional memory in general (even if it's not totally infallible when it concerns things he didn't read). - In "100", when he repeats verbatim Hotch's conversation with Foyet , we need to remember that he has literally just heard the conversation (the conversation had taken place 30 seconds before Reid repeats it). If someone had asked him to do the same thing 2 weeks after the conversation had taken place I'm sure he would have been less precise. Also, Reid was paying particular attention to the conversation, most likely he was making an extra effort to remember the words knowing it could be extremely important. - It reminds me of Rossi saying to Reid in 'Masterpiece' "don't forget a word he says" before climbing in the car with the unsub. If Reid actively tries to remember a conversation, he'll focus more and he'll remember it precisely (but it probably won't be engraved in his brain forever with such precision).
- in 'The Fisher King II' he remembered the poem used by the unsub as a message, but his memory wasn't perfect here. He knew he had heard it when he was little, but he was still unable to tell what poem it was exactly, because he hadn't read it for himself.
So far, I think the writers are consistent with Reid's memory.
Concerning Reid and Russian he said at the end of 'Sense Memory' to Emily (about 'Solaris', the movie) : "The original one's in russian, so, really, you and I are the only ones that can really enjoy it".
I took it as meaning that he could understand (and maybe speak ?) Russian (doesn't mean he's perfectly fluent).
I can't see Reid enjoying a movie at the theatre if someone has to translate to him everything while the movie is playing (and I can't see Prentiss enjoying doing that either).
I don't know how many languages he speak but in a lot of countries students in high school learn two different languages (other than their mother tongue). It was my case, and the case of everyone in my school (and the other schools of my country - same thing in other European countries).
So, maybe Reid learned two different languages other than english ? I could see him talking german.
Concerning his apartment, I don't know. I'm not sure if I would really want to see it, I might be disappointed. I'm pretty sure if I saw his apartment during an episode there would be something missing in my opinion. I think I prefer to imagine what it could be like.
Finally, I agree with you, I hope that they'll highlight Reid's genius next season. That's the storyline I want to see for Reid : his exceptional brain and intelligence being acknowledged and put to good use - and making him totally stand out.
And I too hope they'll get back to the storylines we had during the first four seasons !
I've always pictured Reid owning a house not a apt. W/ one of the bedrooms turned into a library, the bookcases full of first editions. He might also have a couple of movies scattered around his living room mostly old classics and foreign films. I think I prefer it left to my imagination. It's more fun that way!
When JJ asks Reid about reading Twilight in The Performer, he states that he rarely reads anything in English; kind of sounds like he is fluent in other languages.
@ Sharon: Ha! After TG re-signing (go on, your Royal Hotchness... you know you want to...) the next contract needs to be awarded to Sergio. I reckon Garcia's taken him in and is spoiling him rotten.
And Clooney - I'd love to see him. I tend to think of him as Hooch from "Turner & Hooch" although in reality he's probably a sleek chocolate labrador* which has the ladies drooling when his handsome owner takes him for a walk in the park.
* If I had a dog (instead of my Garfield clone) it would have to be a chocolate labrador.
@ Gubegirl: Brownie tin bought & earthquake cake recipe Limey-fied into grams. I am now officially the greatest Domestic Goddess this side of the San Andreas...
Reads 20,000 words a minute and remembers everything he reads How long would it take him to learn a language? I think it is possible that he can read and understand many languages. Whether or not he can speak them is another matter. Remember Elle in "Machissmo" correcting his accent. "Face it, Chico, you are only a genius in English."
Having roundly criticized CBS for dumping AJ and Paget, and foisting the Seaver character on a generally unreceptive audience, I would like to THANK CBS wholeheartedly for correcting these mistakes and restoring the original team.
Whatever is holding up the TJ negotiations, here's hoping they can be concluded successfully and soon, so that the writers can get on with their work knowing they won't have to contort their storylines to accommodate another team rupture later.
While the Reid character is far and away my favorite (used to be Reid and Gideon), I dread to imagine our BAU w/out its anchor, Hotch. We celebrated the return of AJ and Paget, along with Shemar's well-deserved raise...now we anxiously await confirmation that our dear Thomas will also get contract terms that will convince him to return. Never heard what happened with MGG's raise but really hoping that he, too, received a well-deserved increase.
Would like to weigh in with resounding agreement with those who would like to see more of our Woobie Genius Reid-centered stories...and fewer occasions where he just disappears 2/3rds through the episode.
Also agree wholeheartedly that we need to see more of the Morgan who shows high intelligence and is able to express emotions more subtly.
On a last and possibly trivial note, I hope the CM cast gets better styling. Nearly all of our good-looking cast looked their worst in S6...yet another reason I just want to forget this season ever happened!
I've always imagined Reid to live in a really chic DC apartment, with minimal furniture, but lots of vintage stuff. And yeah I believe that there will be a plethora of books in his apartment, on all kinds of subjects, but especially all the Classical 16th century literature, given his mother's love for the subject, and his own fascination with the subject. I would prefer for them not to show his apartment though, since I already like how it is in my head and as already stated everyone has different ideas in their heads as to how his house would/should be, and they won't be able to satisfy everyone. However, if the need arises for them to show his apartment, then I think I'll be fine with it, won't really be a big deal. Count me in as someone who wants a Reid storyline with the full utilization of his genius. I just rewatched "Conflicted" and he is just such a keen observer and super brilliant and so empathetic, it was amazing how he figured out something that everyone else missed. I definitely want more of that and more Reid in general. I never seem to get enough of him! Anonymous, I think they looked gorgeous last seasons, especially JJ, Emily, and Reid. But they're just naturally gorgeous individuals and I think they look incredible all the time anyways<3 I'm really digging Reid with the short hair though.
Heyya: I agree w/ you. I would love to see more of Reids genius. "Conflicted" is one of my fav. eps to date. I would love to see more of what happened w/ Adam/Amanda and if Reid kept visiting. Reid is at his best when his genius is being highlited. I also agree that everyone looked great this year but I have to admit im partial to the wonderful Dr. w/ his long hair...
To give my 2 cents on the Seaver situation: I feel sorry for how RN learnt that she wouldn’t return to CM. On the internet. That’s cruel and classless, but unfortunately obviously not uncommon in Hollywood and for CBS specifically. Nothing of this is RN’s fault and I never had a problem with her as a person. But I won’t lie, the character Ashely Seaver was just awful and I am relieved that she’s gone. I also don’t want her to come back for one or two episodes to give her a proper send-off. Why should they do that? It’s not necessary. Why waste time on such a storyline when so much has to be done already? I also could imagine that RN wouldn’t want that. Why pour even more salt into her wounds? A clear cut might be the best for her, her fans and for CM too. Just my impression.
About the never-ending TG contract negotiation: So he’s going to Monaco TV Festival with his family next week. He just tweeted about it. He’ll promote CM so that means either: - He has a contract (and we might learn about it soon) - He hopes/thinks the contract will be signed after his return from Monaco - This is an old obligation he agreed to as part of his previous contract If he doesn’t have a contract yet, it might be a loooong time before one will signed, because right after he returns from Monaco he will attend this golf event with Joe. My nerves are really starting to wear thin ... very thin.
@pearlseattle: lol yes. I remember the garlic but only because I love garlic. I love the smell of it sauteeing in a pan so it was nice to see it and imagine how yummy Gideon's cabin in the woods smelled. Except I hope he wasn't planning on laying some smooches on his lady friend after all that garlic!! hahaha. I think Paget may actually speak French in real life. If not, she really did an amazing job didn't she? I agree she is a wonderful actress.
@gubegirl: oh good memory and good observation that we have gotten a peek at JJ's place after all. And I love your thoughts on Reid's place.
@Karen: I loved seeing Prentiss' home. I thought they did a good job on it, that it fit her personally. Classy and elegant, simple and clean lines, not too feminine.
@Nancy: Oh I completely agree, I wouldn't want them to get carried away with that stuff either, or make it this big huge deal. When we got glimpses of the other team members' homes, it wasn't a huge deal but it was a nice little cookie for the audience. I agree that the main focus of the show should be the crime drama and the profiling. I think a little glimpse of one of the rooms in Reid's place would be a nice way to reveal something about him without taking too much time of dialogue/story away from the main plot. After all, there is only so much dialogue you can fit into 42 minutes of a program.
Maybe it could be a little on-going project for the writers. They could have a whiteboard up labeled "Spencer's place" and each day the writers and props people are free to add to it. Like - what kinds of books would he read? What kind of furniture? Would the place be neat or messy? Modern or classic or eclectic? Who knows, maybe it would foster discussion and thought about WHO Spencer Reid is and may even help them write him better in the upcoming season.
I do agree though that it may be nicer for the audience to keep on imagining what it is like for themselves, that way they are never disappointed and can imagine it however they like. But I wonder if anyone would even bother to imagine it in the first place unless someone brought it up? Sure, we are discussing it now on this blog but only because it was brought up. How many of the mass viewers would think about it or discuss it? I think that there would be more viewers pleased with being presented with a view into an interpretation of Spencer's home than there would be viewers that would be disappointed. But I can understand why some would prefer to imagine it as they would like to see it.
@Mahele: You make excellent points. However, I think that he specifically said "You forget that I have an eidetic memory..." If not 100 then maybe it was some other episode. But I could have sworn that he said something like that. It is thoroughly possible that maybe my hearing or brain was just playing tricks on me. LOL!!
@BlimeyLimey: HA! Yes. I think Sergio definitely needs a contract. And top billing!! I mean, sure Joe's got a star on the Walk of Fame. But Sergio is a CAT. With mad acting skillz. ;) I was thinking maybe they could show Reid feeding Sergio at home before leaving for work, then pan out and show Doyle and/or his goons sitting in a car outside his home, doing surveillance on him. You kill 3 birds with one stone - Sergio the cat!, Reid's house, and Doyle watching the group closely to see if Emily really is dead or not.
But speaking of TG re-signing, TPTB really do need to get right on that. NOW please. LOL.
@Velandra and heyya: Oh yes. I too would like a follow up on 'Conflicted'. I think that Reid kept his promise and kept visiting but I would be curious to know the progress, if any, that Adam/Amanda has made.
And lastly, as for S6 styling, I thought that Hotch in the light blue dress shirt, in the dark navy dress shirt, and the black t-shirt looked quite yummy. Quite yummy indeed. *drools*
NO HOTCH/TG = NO MORE DROOLING AND NO MORE CM FOR ME!
I can see Reid being conversant in a number of languages.
In Sense Memory we find out that he would be able to understand Russian although he must have learned that recently or he would have been able to read the supposed ransom note the Chernis family received in Honor Among Theives.
In Lucky Rossi spouts something out in, I believe Italian and JJ replies, "Thanks for clearing that up." To which Reid responds that it's from Dante's Inferno, "Abandon hope all ye who enter here." So I'm taking it he knows Italian.
We know from Machismo that he knows Spanish but doesn't have the accent down, which to me makes sense. He could go through the textbooks and learn the languages in no time, but it's speaking them frequently that gives you the proper syntax and accent and he doesn't have that.
I kind of like the glimpses of the team's homes that we've had so far, but I can understand that seeing what the writers envision and what each individual envisions might be disappointing, since, of course, they can't please everyone. I still think I'd like to see Reid's place.
You know, a very long time back i remember watching a show on TV - Rowan Atkinson live somewhere, and he did this one scene where he showed three stages of leaning against a door/pillar. Stage 1 - slight leaning - good. Stage 2 - angle between leg and floor decreasing - sexy. Stage 3 - more like lying down - misdirected. TG's sitch with the contract has reached stage 3 for me. It's not funny, it's not fun, it's not exciting, it's just irritating and really i'm nearly incapable of worrying any more about it. Nearly - hence this silly post.
Reid's house - interesting idea. I just see books all round, like the entire place was a giant library, and warm, smelling of old books. and lots of coffee-stained cups lying around.
I liked Emily's second house - the first one seemed too minimalist. She has travelled and i see her as having little mementoes from her time there. Maybe she didn't have time to bond with people, but i see her on these lonely walks picking up small things.
Nancy: Yes, I agree, I wouldn't want them to get carried away either. But if they just give us a glimpse every now and then of what they come home to that would be great. I can just see Reid coming home to some pet fish haha just kidding.
Sharon: Yes, they definitely did a good job with Prentiss' home. I thought it was a perfect fit. I especially enjoyed the Baseball For Dummies book in her book case haha.
I don't know why but I picture Reid's apart kind of messy, stuff everywhere, a few books opened here and there and really old furniture. Maybe I see it that way because of his old car, which I really like.
But I agree that just a quick glimpse would be enough. He could make a quick stop to pick up something he forgot. Is it possible for a genius to forget something at home????
Has anyone heard any news on TG's contract. I sent CBS 3 complaints and warnings of not getting him signed would be 10 times worse of a backlash/outrage than AJ or PB. It really shouldn't take this long and they should've signed him by now since he wants to be there and CBS wants/needs him back. It's been like 6 months they need 2 find common ground and get him a really good contract so they can be a family again. Ugh WTF CBS?!
I would also like 2 thank CBS for cancelling SB and bringing the girls back. Btw I think season 6 is a bad season for most tv shows. Does anyone remember Xena: Warrior Princess S6 and how they went way off track w/ a freakin documentary episode and a few more stupid episodes? Lol
My point is that S6 is pretty much a bad thing for most tv shows and I'm dissapointed CM wasn't immune to it lol
I don't want to see Reid's home, or the other homes of the characters we haven't seen yet because I think that would take something away from what all of us have in our minds. I think it is fun to picture what the characters homes that we haven't seen yet may look like rather than have them lay it all out there for us. I like what Mahële said,
"Concerning his apartment, I don't know. I'm not sure if I would really want to see it, I might be disappointed. I'm pretty sure if I saw his apartment during an episode there would be something missing in my opinion. I think I prefer to imagine what it could be like."
I also want to scream at the top of my lungs out of joy that both AJ and Paget are coming back!! I can hardly believe it!!! All we need is Thomas Gibson to sign on the dotted line and the team will be complete :) CBS blink, please!
I check in here daily (ok, more than once/day) in hopes of finding that TG has signed a contract, a yummy-for-him contract that acknowledges him as lead actor on CM. He's too young to retire (though he's apparently done well on CM and doesn't have as much chance to blow it all living in TX as in CA), and while I have some concern he might want to cut back time away fr. family, I don't think that would really keep him as comfortably fixed long-term as he'd like.
So, while I'm waiting I'll dream a little! :) I, selfishly, want TG to be the lead on CM for the next 2 yrs (at least) and for Hotch to be written well... with some follow up to his grief, victimization, and the fact that he let loose his dark side and killed w/his bare hands. I think it'd be good for him to remarry so he could have some happiness(SMILE!) and help out of the darkness Foyet left behind.
I want Reid to be featured 2nd most. He's darling, phenomenal, innocent, brilliant and a great contrast to Hotch's reserved correctness. They complement each other well. Oh! Next season's scariest unsub can break into Reid's house, done up in exquisite detail, while we think he's there sleeping (but he's not, because the team will be really good at their work again) and there will be suspense and awesomeness and Hotch will save the day. :)
There will be Hotchalanches on a regular basis. :)
Bells and whistles and bangs will not pollute the intro.
Beyond that, I want Morgan to be lighter, not such a kill-joy. Hasn't he grown past ANY of his trust issues yet? I want Morgan/Garcia in measured doses (and keep comic-relief Kevin, as a Buffy fan I love him).
I'd like for Garcia to ask Morgan to come up w/a new nickname for her since she's worthy of his respect.
I want Prentiss to be awesome, but not Super!Spy! I want her to save Morgan's life a time or two because he's impetuous and overly physical and she's smarter. But she could display some geek cred time to time, and, in a show of good taste, have an unrequited crush on Hotch.
I want Rossi to crack wise and be finicky/persnickety & voice of experience. I love JM, but Rossi is like a nice accessory to the team for me.
I want JJ to be competent, but human. I don't want her humanity to be limited to being a mom. Let her make errors. Let her get emotional (angry too, not just girly sadness), but not in sight of anyone outside the team. I did not worry too much about her departure or return, but am happy for AJC and hope the writers do better w/her going fwd.
As to RN/Seaver? I'm sorry RN was treated shabbily by CBS and some fans. I hope she does well elsewhere. She seems like a sweet person (at least fr. Twitter). But Seaver never made sense to me on CM... too inexperienced for BAU... I'd be fine w/her transferring w/no fanfare. I'd be fine w/her dying in the line of duty since she's too inexperienced for BAU. I'd be fine w/her resigning after facing Killer Daddy to get info to help an investigation (one last hurrah). Just am delighted Seaver's leaving!
I've long suspected Sergio is staying w/JJ. JJ wasn't w/the team/family when Doyle was coming for them & Emily had few other friends, & Emily would have wanted him safe. Either that or he's been sharpening his claws on the Ambassador's furniture. :) Just an acknowledgment of his existence would satisfy me on that pressing question. ;)
Mostly, I want the team to follow Hotch and use their profiling skills to save the day/catch the bad guy. And continuity and good writing.
Valendra, Sharon, yeah I would love to get an update on Adam/Amanda from "Conflicted." I think it was one of the most interesting episodes, certainly amongst my favourites. However, I don't think we'll get any closure. I, too, would like to think that Reid followed through on his promise and was able to free Adam of Amanda. He's too much of a sweetheart not to. Valendra, I think MGG is gorgeous regardless of his hair. As long as he's on my TV screen bringing Reid to life in the adorable way only he can I don't really care what sort of hair he chooses to sport :)
Heyya: once again I would have to agree he is adorable no matter what the hair style. Though i do have to note the one exception to that rule in my book was his "boy band" hair in the S5 finale S6 premier.... He was still cute but .... I'll just leave it at that :) your probably right about us getting no closure on the Adam/amanda story the writers are good at that. No to mention getting Jackson Rathbone to guest star post Twilight fame might be a little pricey. But I too like to think of Reid as a man of his word and like to believe he still visits.
"I want Prentiss to be awesome, but not Super!Spy! I want her to save Morgan's life a time or two because he's impetuous and overly physical and she's smarter."
She's smarter??? LMAO!!! I respect your opinion, but I must disagree. That's all I'll say.
BTW CM writers I would also like to go back to NOT knowing who the unsub is until the team catches him. No reason to ruin the mystery for us fans again in S7 and NO MORE RIP-OFF storylines either please.
I will gladly give up my spot on the cast so that you can re-new Mr. Gibson already. I'm a boy cat but even he makes me meeooowww!! Sign him up soon please!!
CBS, this has gone on long enough. Its no longer 'marketing'. Thomas Gibson is an essential part of Criminal Minds and without my favorite character, I'm done. There is so much left for this character and HIS team so for pete's sake, SIGN TG!
I wish I had money to send to Thomas to keep him on CM because its my fave show, he's my fave character and I can't believe that CBS hasn't scooped him up. Can't be lack of money, after doubling SM's salary and giving stupid amounts to poorer-performing shows and leads... so what's the hold up, CBS???! Give us back Hotch and complete our family!
CMFAN11 said It really shouldn't take this long and they should've signed him by now since he wants to be there and CBS wants/needs him back. It's been like 6 months they need 2 find common ground and get him a really good contract so they can be a family again. Ugh WTF CBS?!
What I would like to see in Season 7 is a return to focusing on the Profiling aspect. Not the unsub, but how the team profiles and catches the unsub. I don't like the format where the unsub is shown already from the beginning. I like that little bit of mystery and intrigue.
@Pat: Great researching! As a Hotch girl, I failed to pick up on any of that regarding Reid. LOL.
@Eleven: "Rowan Atkinson live" I was browsing Netflix the other night. Saw that and almost watched it. I love him as Mr. Bean! Love your vision of Reid's house. I love the smell of books (new and old). :) And you are right, I do see Emily as someone who would pick up small things on her little travels, so her 2nd home does seem too minimalist. I had completely forgotten about her first home, which we saw when Hotch went to see her there after she requested to transfer out.
@pearlseattle: Yes, it is possible for a genius to forget something at home. Some of them are the absent-minded professor type! LOL.
Blimey: Pls explain again in layman's terms (or a very tired woman at 11PM) what you did with the brownie tin and what is in grams? Have you managed to calculate the calories in each piece yet? And just how much are you going to sell these tins for or are they to be gifts? Maybe we could have an international business and I can be the WestCoast operation...?!
I'm thinking raspberry shortcake for dessert this weekend (raspberries are only $8.99 at Costco tonite - i/2 flat of 6 tins, can you believe it?) I would make a HUGE batch and take it up to where we will stay while working with the writers during the brain-storming phase...I think probably some "Wicked Good" coffee bought at the local Farmers' Market will also be necessary...we'll get coffee expert, Reid, to taste test it first, of course, while we checkout his 'etchings'...and whatever. I really need to go to bed.
It is taking sooo long for them to give us some news about TG that I am starting to have some crazy ideas. Here's one :
Is it possible that TG is participating in those CM promotions in the next few weeks only because they were parts of his last contract, so he has the obligation to be there. And that CBS is waiting for him to be finish with those to announce that he won't come back?
Now, please, somebody tell me "You're crazy! Get out of here! That's not the way it works!"
Please don't even say that lol I can't even think of CM without hotch. I wish they would just tell us I've been looking on here multiple times and searched google news the past few weeks to get some news of any negotiation progress. But still nothing!
CBS should just sign him already and lower Ashton kuthchers pay 2 make more for hotch.
They really have their priorities screwed up giving bucket loads to people like Charlie sheen and Ashton Kutcher instead of TG who is a good employee that's been w/ then for 6 years.
I really am tired of waiting and growing impatient. But I've been trying 2 stay positive and remember how Erica Messer said she was trying 2 get the band back together/ TG wants to come back/ and JM said in an interview he was confident he would sign.
They should have at least reached some sort of deal by now. I mean seriously the writers are already getting S7 ready ugh COME ON CBS! STOP THE MADNESS! Give us fans some closer and sigh him already geez!
So, TG is on his way to Paris and then Monaco and then the Golf tournament thingy. Which means he's "out of town" (meaning L.A.) for at least 10 days. Which means he won't be able to sign a contract until mid-June the earliest. If there even is a chance for him signing. Are they still negotiating or is it already decided Hotch won't be back? I'm at the point where I don't even care. IF TG returns this late in the game, there is no chance he'll get a decent storyline or decent screentime, let alone decent scenes, in Season 7. IF TG returns, everything they could possibly give him are stopgap appearances/lines. And I'm not going to accept that anyway. Therefore, whether Hotch comes back or not becomes more and more irrelevant to me with each passing day, because the writers aren't able to provide us with good Hotch stuff. That means there isn't really Hotch in Season 7, which also means: I'm out. Not saying it has to be this way for you all, but it's for me. :(
I'm firmly planted in the camp: ALL THE FAMILY ALL THE TIME; NO HOTCH, NO WATCH
That said, where TG physically is these days doesn't matter. He must have an agent that's negotiating in his name, so a deal can be reached and closed at any given time. If TG signs the actual contract days/weeks latter won't matter as probably Erica will be informed asap. It'll only matter to us, than probably will have gone crazy by the time WE are informed ;)
Seriously, I don't get how anyone would promote a show he'll not be returning to? There's no point nor logic in such an involvement.
They'd send JM or SM whose salary is now double, why TG who's NO contract to hold him obligated to do anything for the show, or his tongue if he's not returning? It'll achieve nothing if not incite worse backlash!
OK, I'm just trying to keep a positive outlook.... maybe they'll announce it during the promotion. If the worst scenario happens, then that's the end of CM for me, it's that simple.
I don't know what is going to happen with TG's contract. Personally, I think tptb would be crazy not to get TG a new contract. They will have negated and undone their efforts to appease the fans.
Bringing AJ and PB back were good steps to take. But now they need to make the last step and get TG on board to complete the team.
Regardless of what happens, I will follow TG wherever he goes. I will always be a TG fan :) No Hotch, no CM for me.
Let me see if I understand this, they reduced Paget's episode and she told us this was her last season, then they ask her back and she still chose to have the reduced number of episodes and an option to come back in case no pilot panned out. Then she says on the chat that if the pilot doesn't get pickup up she would come back "if they still want her". The pilot wasn't pickup and she is now back and now she is saying she is being forced?
I swear, why do I still bother with this drama infested show, sometimes I wonder.
PMSL at "Sergio the Cat" - perhaps Hotch took him in as a pet for Jack? Cute kid and cute cat (and tieless Hotch?) in one scene would be rather aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Writers & CBS bean counters take note. ;-)
If the aforementioned bean counters are prepared to double SM's salary I can't see why they wouldn't be willing to do the same for TG. Unless his salary was a pittance back when he signed the original contract so double is still a pittance I'm still wondering if the stumbling blocks are a combination of wangling more family time at home while still giving us the same amount of Hotch and/or wanting to get more involved with the behind the camera aspects of the show. Obviously I know very little about TG in real life, but from what I've read on here the universal opinion seems to be that he's a "bloody nice bloke", hence I'm wondering if the $$$ is really the main issue with this farce.
@ Gubegirl: You wouldn't believe the hassle I had trying to find a 13x9 brownie tin - and in a decent sized town too! However, I succeeded and made another EC - my colleagues wanted the recipe but nobody has measuring cups (even though that great institution M&S sells them for £5 these days) so I had to measure the ingredients in my "bought in Manhattan" (*grins*) cups and then weigh the ingredients so I can type up the recipe using grams for the gannets! (e.g. 1 cup of desicated coconut = 70g, 1 cup of chopped pecans = 110g). I also use the family chocolate cake recipe - I don't know what packet mix cakes taste like in the US, but in the UK they're an abomination! I don't even want to guess at the calorie content of the finished article either!! The raspberry shortcake sounds delicious, btw.
So it seems that Paget is contractually obliged to come back to CM. This is what is meant by "forced". I know she experienced lousy treatment from them but she is hardly the only person in the world who has to live up to contract obligations.... and make a lot less money doing so. Don't get me wrong, I really like her as Emily but a little perspective might be called for here. I'm just hoping that there will be good stories written for our beloved characters next season. I'm with those who like the unsub to be revealed much later in the show. I love the suspense and watching the team do their profiling.
yes i am glad about Aj and Paget being back but not in the expense of treating Rachel so poorly and dowright cruel. She certainly didn't deserve this. She is a wonderful person. I hope those who made this decision is haunted in their sleep!
What are you talking about? The option that the network had on Paget is something that everyone knew about, inclusing RN. The fact that the network exercised that option on Paget for her to come back is something that no one is surprised happened, and something RN should have seen coming if she had any sort of clue at all.
Paget agreed to let the network have an option on her that would give them the right to get her back on the show, so I am not sure where the "forced" part comes in as she didn't have to sign that sort of agreement in the first place. To try and somehow connect that to RN though makes no sense. RN not having her option picked up is a decision that was coming, it was practically written on the wall being how the character was being received. Erica Messer saying that she considered her to be part of the team in the previous article means nothing because Erica Messer doesn't decide who stays or go. Erica can give her opinion on that, but she does not have that power, the network has that power. If RN didn't see, or didn't want to see, that in all likelihodd she was on her way out of CM, then that is unfortunate.
Paget's latest tweets do indeed sound contradictory and confusing on first sight. In one tweet she speaks about the "Thrilling Adventure Show" and makes a point of stressing that it's something she "chose" to do. In the other tweet she speaks about being forced back to CM by a contract. Well, that is no news of course, we knew TPTB had this option on her. Paget doesn't want to be told what to do, she wants to execute her Free Will. Understandable. But then I ask myself why she agreed to such a contract in the first place. I think it's clear she loved working on CM and she loves her cast and crew mates and the fans, just as she said in her latest tweet. I think she is still deeply hurt by how she has been treated and is p*oed by the whole situation. Maybe she didn't express herself properly and it came out all wrong. I can't imagine PB isn't glad that a) she'll have work next season and b) she's back with her colleagues playing this wonderful character Emily Prentiss.
Oh, and I just can't post on this blog without ending with:
I really think that the writers would go ahead and write him into the episodes since prentisses return involves him and JJ and would be incomplete without them both. At this point I'm going crazy thinking about it, and I'm trying to be rational about it and hope they'll sign him soon. And I don't think he'd be promoting it now if he wasn't planning on coming back bc I don't think CBS would plan a year ahead in promoting CM since they didn't renewit till mid April or may or whatever.
Surely there will be news soon. The writers will already have alot done my mid-June so surely he'll sign by then before they start filming. Come on CBS! Budge already!
I do hope they are including Hotch in their writing for the next season, can you imagine another season of Hotch barely there? Especially with JJ and Emily coming back.
I so want all this to be over with. I want all to be back on track and talk about the show, their acting, etc. not all this BTS drama. It is so negative and 10 years ago, we would not have even known all this kinda crap goes on - at least not to this extent. It has become part of our life and I don't like it. TV is supposed to be enjoyment, entertainment, R & R, you know?
Blimey: Who in the world can bake without measuring cups and spoons? Cooking, maybe, but certainly not baking. What's the matter with those gannets!! The 13" X 9" is a staple in U.S. households, I don't know another mom without at least one or two - I have 3 or 4 for when I make baked ziti or lasagna - in fact, these "casserole" pyrex dishes/pans are often referred to aa lasagne pans.
Glad you have it down to a fine science now, tho'! I have a Devil's food cake mix (ours are pretty good) in the pantry ready to make it soon for when the recently- returned marine/son-in-law comes to dinner. Little bit of a problem for my son, tho', who is allergic to nuts. Must increase the recipe and make his own little pan w/o the pecans!
But, no baking for me today.
Am going to get myself all organized with the A&E and ion schedules, which have changed since the holidays, so that I can plan all my chores like ironing, around it to catch as many re-runs as poss.! You know, to better memorize all the "facts" before we go to volunteer as writing ass'ts :)
And was ion showing "Sense Memory" already (the one w/ Corbin Bernsen from S-6) watched it while doing my bills a few days ago or am I confused? CBS is showing it again next Wed.,6/8, so I don't think so.
I thought the other networks only aired PREV. season's epis, but maybe I am wrong? Anyone know? I usu choose to watch the CBS recent re-run to old unless I have already watched the DVR'd show more than once. Usu prefer old in recent months, dammit.
Have a great wkend everyone. Don't forget to listen to music: I heard this AM that people who listen first thing in the AM not only have better days but stronger immune systems! The DJ said the study shows these listeners have "an edge" over their counterparts who don't get any early tuneage!
Maybe Paget was so confident that her other thing would work out that she signed that contract without taking it seriously! Now she is paying for her own stupidity.
I was so exited for the S7 and Prentiss being back, but now just knowing that she doesn't want to be there is ruining it for me.
Pearlseattle, or maybe in order for Paget to have been able to do the pilot she had to agree to the network having the option over her. I don't think she is dreading coming back to the show, I think she is still upset over how she and AJ were treated by the network. Prior to the network treating AJ and Paget the way they did, each of them were excited about the show and wanted to come back. It was the network that decided to let AJ go, and it was the network that decided to reduce Paget's appearances. I hardly think anyone would be excited to come back to work for such an employer, but they each love the show, the cast, the crew and the fans, and for AJ. it also meant not uprooting her family to take another offer that was on the table for her.
I don't think there is any stupidity involved here because I am sure Paget would have had no issue simply leaving the show. Paget doesn't strike me as one to play it "safe" which is why I firmly believe that the networks option right over her was tied to them agreeing for her to get the pilot out option.
Paget's been in the business a long time and more than most she knows that the chances of a pilot getting picked up are not great, they are actually abysmal. I don't think she ever cared about that though. She wanted to try her hand at a different project, but I wouldn't doubt that came at the price of her having to agree to the option. The network certainly didn't have to agree to allow her the pilot out option and that being the case I am sure they wanted something in return for giving her that pilot out option.
I believe Paget 100% when she says that she loves CM, the cast, the crew and the fans. But the fact that she wrote that she was "forced" to come back suggests to me that if she had a choice she wouldn't be back. And giving the circumstance I would feel the exact same way.
Hopefully, because she is an amazing actress and very professionnal, the Prentiss character will not be affected by all this in the future. That's my main concern.
How was she foreced to come back pearlseattle? She signed a contract allowing them to have that option power over her. She didn't have to sign that contract. No one can force you to enter into an agreement with them, that is what a contract is, an agreement between two parties. Now, one party may not like all of the terms of the contract, but they had the choice whether or not to sign the contract in the first place. She could have elected not to sign anything, finished off season 6, and called it a day.
Yes, if they had allowed her the pilot out without having her agree to the option for season 7, which is what I think happened, then she probably wouldn't have come back or maybe she would have; it would have been her choice. At the end of the day though, she signed an agreement that she knew may come to pass, so saying "forced" is not exactly correct. She may not like that they had the option power over her, but it is not something that she went into (agreed to) blindly.
I'm not defending the network, I think they are jerks, but this was an agreement made by consenting parties.
I am not the one saying she was forced, she is. Here her exact tweet :
"Oh guys, no,I love CM. I was forced back by a contract. I ADORE the cast, crew&fans. Just hard being told what my life is. It'll be great!"
Now, I have no idea in which circumstances the contract was signed and frankly I do not really care. All I'm saying is by reading her tweet being back wasn't her choice.
But maybe I am totally wrong and she is extremely happy and can't wait to start working with CBS again!! Actually I HOPE I am wrong. I've been wrong before so it wouldn't be a first for me!
As a fan, I am extremely excited that she is back for next season, she is my second favorite in the cast, but I sure hope she is happy too. That's all I'm saying.
I don't think she is excited to enter into anything with CBS the network, I do think that she will be happy to work with a cast and crew that she loves and has always stated that she loves. What happened with her and the network has absolutely nothing to do with her and the show and the cast. Those are all seperate from one another and I believe Paget is professional enough to keep those things seperate as they really don't relate to one another.
Quite frankly, I don't think any of the actors are in love with CBS, but they love the show, the cast and the crew, along with the characters that they play. ABC Studios and CBS are just the entities they have to deal with in order to be able to work on the show that they love.
Forgot to add, I don't think she likes the circumstances of her coming back (circumstances that she agreed to, but maybe bregrudingly so, nevertheless she agreed and signed on the dotted line), but I don't think that has anything to do with what she is coming back to and that is a cast and crew that she loves. ABC Studios and CBS, thankfully, are not the people that she will be working with day in and day out. I don't think most, if not all, of the actors would still be there if that were the case, LOL :)
Have to agree with most here: Paget is prob'ly happy to being working with her friends again but still has a bad taste in her mouth after CBS' actions that pushed her out. I think that it was only after all the fans demonstrating such support for her and AJ, that the network went back and made her the offer to return. Maybe having high hopes for her pilot, but not wanting to burn her bridges, she signed the contract. She was being smart. But let's just say only time will make that bad taste go away. I would say it's a trust issue, also. How could it not be? I think I would be abit resentful, too.
I seriously doubt any negativity on her part is directed toward her fellow cast/crew members, just toward the network that has such power that they can get away with such crap - they can and do walk all over many people, and if this was the way the world ran, wouldn't it be a horrid place? But, the flip side is, I think that's what they pay out the big bucks for: doing whatever they damn well please.
Pearlseattle, or maybe in order for Paget to have been able to do the pilot she had to agree to the network having the option over her.
But then what was this about?
@pagetpaget "PS- I should clarify. I am immensely grateful. I'm still angry about AJ. I'm sad this is my last year. But I wanted to thank the fans..." 26 Jun
Anonymous, if I am remembering correctly, that is right after the network announced that it would be sticking to its decision to let AJ go and reduce Paget's appearances. Talk of them offering Paget a season 7 contract did not come until after Tassler the humanitarian (yes I am being sarcastic) said that they wanted Paget back. It could be that they had the option all along, but at the stage that she tweeted that, and without the fan uproar they would have let that option float in the wind; something I am sure Paget knew and is why she requested the pilot out option, that was extremely smart on her end to do. That option meant nothing on June 26 because that is when she got screwed; it meant a lot after the fan uproar and after the way RN's character was received. Ultimately, that option became a gold chip for the network.
The pilot out option was a smart thinv for her to get because at that point the network was basically pushing her out and there was no indication that they would have exercised any sort of option on her. When she tweeted that, they had finished giving AJ the ax and reduced her appearances on the show. I'd be saying it was my last year to as the network showed no sign of really wanting her there at that point.
I'm feeling like I am reading one person having a conversation with him/herself.
Would it be possible for the "Anonymous" people to, at least, put "anonymous 1 or whatever" so we can follow whose saying what. Because right now, I am totally lost.
Lol, was just reading another post on a different thread that said you didn't have ti have an account to sign in; I thought you had to have Google or Open ID to use a name, whatever the heck Open ID is????
Pearlseattle, I'm the one that replied to you earlier, the last Anonymous poster. Paget asking for and sticking to the pilot out was smart because initially the network showed no interest in her staying on the show. Even with the fan uproar, if RN would have worked out, Paget still could have been out the door, not to mention the crap treatment she got from the network. The pilot out let her pursue a project that if would have gotten picked up would hooked her up for the Fall.
But there was no way of her knowing how things were going to pan out with RN when she left. Like most performers, she probably gave the pilot all she had and was hoping for the best. Even with it in her head that the pilot might not get picked up, and considering everything that had gone down with her and the network at that time, she probably wasn't thinking that the netwotk was going to pick up her option. RN could have turned out to be a roaring success with the many of the viewers at which point not only would they have probably not picked up her option, AJ wouldn't have been asked to return.
I'm starting to think that Paget is reading our comments! lol!
She has just twitted this:
@pagetpaget To clarify. I HATE being shoved around. I LOVE everyone at CM + CM fans. Those are two separate things. And, yes, it IS great to be back...
I think we can all agree that we love her and we love to have her back! :D
Maria: I think she is either reading this blog or has become clairvoyant...talk about timing...
To our fave badas- chick: love you, Paget, and we can't wait to see you again...and I so hope that it is YOU that gets to waste Doyle. Oh, yeah...Morgan will never about you having his back, not ever again.

«Oldest ‹Older 401 – 600 of 679 Newer› Newest»mfj1311, Morgan is going to be off the charts!
I can’t imagine how they will pull this story off without Hotch. If he is NOT there, I won’t be either.
I can’t imagine how they will pull this story off without Hotch. If he is NOT there, I won’t be either.
Hear, hear!! No Hotch, No CM for me!
oh my god it is true : http://www.boomtron.com/2011/05/rachel-nichols-got-criminal-minds-ax-word-via-net/#comment-126620
Rachel did hear about it first over the internet.
How awful can the producers of CM get. Yes talking to you Erica Messer and ABC shame on you!
Done supporting the show after all this drama!
Please get TG signed ALREADY!
Of course that's patience and impatience; my BFF is an editor and she'd slap me if she read my posts.
Thank you tia,
I hope Doyle comes back so the team can get him, as of now (once TG gets his contract signed, at least)the writers have a great oppurtunity to make an amazing story arc for prentiss to come back and use the storyline's of reid's headaches and morgan's family and Garcia's love life to make a great season that can make up for S6. I can't wait to see how this all unravels and they make up as well as the new JJ and Prentiss
@ Christine
Thank You for understanding my point :)
Really disappointed in the show runners. It's weak to fold to a bit of fan pressure if you've taken a direction you believe is right. I'm sure it's bad for morale and artistic freedom.

Here's an idea for the theme for this upcoming season
Forgiveness
Redemption
And moving on stronger from the past would be a good start
Just saying, if you happen 2 read this Erica Messer lol
You tell them Winnie. Couldn't agree more.
To Rachel Nichols,
Thank you for the fine and crazily under-appreciated work you did on Criminal Minds.

Sf,
You make a really good point.
A,
I understood UK viewer to refer to the number not quality of people who were RN fans.
No way is any actress, or actor, going to give up the chance to star in a top 10 show on the #1 TV network.
oh yes they will if they can last longer on a different show and not get heat from the crazy fans. Job security is all that matters
Damn!
About "Prentiss death secret" thing....
To Rachel Nichols,
I'm very sorry for the manner in which CBS/ABC decided to let you go.
I agree with everything you said, Kury!!
TY.
Optika,
The way AJ and Paget found out about their sitautions wasn't much better either.

@ uk viewer
I agree with everything you said about the Rachel Nichols/Ashley Seaver situation and I wholeheartedly sign your post to Rachel Nichols.
Sorry for the typo in my second to last post. I meant popular and not populat.

Thank you sdwally for clearing that up. I hope she appears in all the episodes.
No TG NO CM 4 me!
Hopefully Rachel will get paid also with the awful way they treated her in this whole deal. UGH!
CBS, re-sign Thomas Gibson and then leave our show alone!
No Hotch No Watch
Sign TG to a new deal so the writers can write for the show with certainty and confidence.
sf, Miranda:
Thanks sdwally!
Peggy,
I second everything you said.

Olivia
Possible scenario for the season 7 opener:
Reid wakes up on the jet, after having a bad headache, and thinks he is hallucinating that there was a newbie,JJ was gone and Emily 'died'.He is quite anxious and upset until ALL THE TEAM convince him it was a horrible nightmare that never took place.
Folks,
As fans of the show - like the character or not, I can tell you that Rachel Nichols is a wonderful person. If you want to have a window into a funny, and great person who is awesome to her fans follow @rachelnichols1 on twitter. She is really great.
And before I get flamed, the thread is for "what's on your mind" and this is what's on my mind.
Much thanks,
GW
Basically at this point I am expecting bad news. I am also tired of waiting. Anything that takes this long well probably is not good at all.
Very well said ahmose inarus and Peggy. CBS please know the fans will not accept Criminal Minds without Hotch.
No Hotch/TG - No CM for me!!!
I want the WHOLE team back, nothing less!!!!
the writers have already gone back to work with TG not signed yet.
Heather said "....TG is going to be promoting CM without having been signed on yet for the next season"
That's something I don't quite get.
@ Teresa H
It's the Monte Carlo TV Festival and it looks like he has been confirmed as attending. As for the answers to the rest of your questions, I'm afraid I don't know.
In his last chat he said that he was taking his wife and kids with him to Monte Carlo, so it sounds like it'll be a nice little family vacation in-between the promoting of CM. When he gets back he's hosting the SAG Foundation Golf Classic on June 13th with Joe Mantegna. : )
This waiting game is so ridiculous. Just let the fans know already, ugh.

No TG/Hotch = NO CM/CBS 4 ME!!
Yes I was presumptuous, I really should've said "the majority". I'll remember not to do that next time I decide to rant about S7 lol
NO HOTCH/TG NO CM FOR ME.
THE WHOLE TEAM, ALL THE TIME!
No Hotch/TG No CM for me.
No Hotch No Watch.
ALL our team, ALL of the time.
Re-sign TG, CBS!
O and CM writers please remember Emily us branded in her chest with a clover and scarred on her stomach. Consistency is key this season. And I will not be at all happy if you
A) Don't get hotch/ the CM family all together next season
B) As irrational and stupid as this sounds, as well as unlikely DO NOT do a documentary episode or any special episodes.
C) In order to be successful this season GO BACK TO BASICS, after the prentiss arc is over with. That's all and I'll be happy and a faithful-worry free viewer once again

"I too am completely at a loss with regards to the contract situation for TG.
@ Sharon
I also agree. Let's move on from last season's terrible mistakes and get a awesome S7.
@ CMFAN11 :
Yeah, totally agree:
With A)
With B)
And with C)
I would also like to add a
D)More story lines with our beloved "genius" Reid.
LOL!!
All this waiting around for TG's contract negotiations is really making me anxious! Get a clue, CBS! The fandom is sick and tired of all the drama.
No Hotch No CM for me. The End.
@ Sharon,
You remember that Gideon was cooking and using lots of garlic?!? That's impressive!! Well I guess I will have to re-watch that episode AGAIN!!!
Does Paget really speaks any of those languages? Because I am French and her French was amazing. But she is a great actress so maybe she just learned a few sentences for those episodes.
sharon and pearlseattle:
Have you guys been to Rachel Nichols twitter and wishing her the best.
She could use support from us CM fans after the way she was treated.
Concerning Reid's memory ;
Concerning Reid and Russian he said at the end of 'Sense Memory' to Emily (about 'Solaris', the movie) :
"The original one's in russian, so, really, you and I are the only ones that can really enjoy it".
@ Sharon:
Ha!
@ Gubegirl:
Brownie tin bought & earthquake cake recipe Limey-fied into grams.
Re RN...best wishes is all I'll say.
He’ll promote CM so that means either:
- He has a contract (and we might learn about it soon)
- He hopes/thinks the contract will be signed after his return from Monaco
- This is an old obligation he agreed to as part of his previous contract
If he doesn’t have a contract yet, it might be a loooong time before one will signed, because right after he returns from Monaco he will attend this golf event with Joe. My nerves are really starting to wear thin ... very thin.
No Hotch/TG, no CM for me.
Is that too much to dream? :)
Still no word??!! This is crazy. And ridiculous. Crazy ridiculous.
We want the WHOLE team!!
NO HOTCH NO CM FOR ME!!!
Another day and no news? Ridiculous!
Dear CBS,
I will gladly give up my spot on the cast so that you can re-new Mr.
NO HOTCH NO WATCH! (CM or CBS!)
ALL our family ALL the time
No TG/HOTCH NO CM 4 ME!
NO HOTCH NO WATCH! THAT DOESNT MEAN I DONT LOVE THE REST OF THE TEAM, IT JUST WONT WORK W/OUT MY HOTCHY!!!!!!
CMFAN11 said
It really shouldn't take this long and they should've signed him by now since he wants to be there and CBS wants/needs him back. It's been like 6 months they need 2 find common ground and get him a really good contract so they can be a family again. Ugh WTF CBS?!
I would like to agree with those statements.
TTFN.
@pearleseattle
@ CMFAN11,
I was extremely positive till yesterday, but suddenly I can't stop imagining the worse. I guess I've been thinking to much about it!
Damn CBS!! They are making me crazy!! Stop playing with Thomas and the CM fans!!
@LunaM
Let's all stay positive about the T.G. Contract situation. Remember Micheal Wetherly ( Tony On NCIS) didn't sign until mid June last year.
And another question, why doesn't she just pull a Mandy on the first day?
Damn, CM, release her off her contract and re-sign TG and let's all put DRAMA behind us.
@ Gubegirl:
You wouldn't believe the hassle I had trying to find a 13x9 brownie tin - and in a decent sized town too!
The raspberry shortcake sounds delicious, btw.
p.s. Un petit message pour TG: Ecrire dans le dotted line, s'il vous plait... ;-))
So there you have it. RN is the one that got the short end of the stick. I am absolutely appalled by how she was treated. What a disgrace!
All power to you Rachel you certainly deserve it!
Horrible showrunners and network people!!
yes i am glad about Aj and Paget being back but not in the expense of treating Rachel so poorly and dowright cruel. She certainly didn't deserve this. She is a wonderful person. I hope those who made this decision is haunted in their sleep!
Gertie,
What are you talking about?
No Hotch/TG, no CM for me.
Who knew? Hah!

"How was she foreced to come back pearlseattle?"

But then what was this about?
@pagetpaget
"PS- I should clarify. I am immensely grateful. I'm still angry about AJ. I'm sad this is my last year. But I wanted to thank the fans..." 26 Jun
@ gubegirl :
Well said!
Hopefully, all the love from the cast members, crew and the fans will make it easier for her to forget about the rest.
@Anonymous? and Anonymous??,
I'm feeling like I am reading one person having a conversation with him/herself.
Thanks Jasmine for replying to me and explaining the whole situation between Paget and the network. You're the best.
Now I understand why she signed that contract and I am really sorry for saying that it was stupid of her to do so.
Love you Paget and can't wait to have Prentiss back with the team (including Hotch) next fall.
Maria, I think you are right :)
CBS, sign Thomas Gibson already!
Uh, that would be "Morgan will never have to worry about you having his back again.."
Sorry, TTF again.
