CRIMINAL MINDS: FAREWELL TO MANDYGATE!

Criminal Minds: It has been a heck of a drama filled month for Criminal Minds fans. Even the wonderful Andrew Wilder could not have written an episode that was this emotional and rivoting. Since Mandy walked away from Criminal Minds it has been a roller coaster in the fandom of rumors and wondering. So now we have a new star for the show. Mandy is off doing concerts. All the press releases are done and filming of the show continues. All that is left to do now is avoid reading all the horrible articles being written about how the show is going to tank this season. I almost laugh reading some of these articles. The season has not even started yet and already the critics are bashing it. You simply have to laugh. I am thrilled that the drama is over. I was asked by a reporter today what the shelf life is for the blog and the show. I am not sure about the blog but I think we will be treated to many more seasons of the show. :)

  1. I believe we will have the show for a long time and that this will be it's best season yet.

  2. Amen sister. Many many many more seasons.

    ReplyDelete
  3. I have canceled my google alerts for the show. The stuff they are writing is bogus. CM will be just fine.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Has it only been a month? It seems like this has been going on for years already. I am so glad it is over.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Joe Mantegna probably hasn't even stepped inside the studio yet and already they are roasting and toasting him. It really is disgusting. I can't wait to read the interview that you gave today. I bet it is wonderful.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I think some peeps thought the man would come back. Uh, no I don't think so. The show has such great actors on it. In my opinion we are lucky that the prima donne hiked out the door and down the road. If I never hear his name again it will be fine with me.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I'm glad to see it over and I hope that the rumors of him coming back to film one more episode are false. I would be more content to never see the cad on the show again.

    ReplyDelete
  8. If he doesn't need us then we sure as hell don't need him. Mandygate needed to end and I am glad along with you that it is finally over.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Ditto dear. It has been too much. I am so glad that Joe Mantegna has been hired. More to do with having an end to the speculation than any true adoration for the new actor.

    ReplyDelete
  10. CM will be fine. Critics always suck when it comes to the show.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I agree with you 100%. I think the show will be just fine. The critics are making way too much out of Mandy leaving. The show was never one man.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I have no doubtst that the show is going to be even better than it was before.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I read your wordpress and my tongue is still hanging out. I am amazed at the ability of some people to rationalize away really bad behavior. Sad that it is so common place in our world today.

Joe Mantegna is just going to be wonderful.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I agree with ALMOST everything you wrote. I think Andrew Wilder could definately write an episode this nerve racking and intense. Unfortunately he was busy helping to rewrite the many scripts that had to be dumped because of the big no show boy.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I'm in for season three.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Joe Mantegna has my full support as does the show. Email me and let me know how the interview went today. I was thinking about you.

    ReplyDelete
  17. It would seem that some of the press had an extra helping of bitchy with their cereal this morning. I do like the links from the website's message board. Those seem to be decent people with nice articles.

    ReplyDelete
  18. We have a great cast and a great show.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I wonder if the man lost even one second of sleep after what he did!

The show has a great team behind it. It is going to be on for many years to come and hopefully we will all back on this years from now and laugh.

    ReplyDelete
  20. These are the same crummy people that wrote that the show would not last for it's first season. Must be hard to admit you are wrong two years in a row. Jerks!

    ReplyDelete
  21. yeah, I'm sorry, but there is no precedent for a show tanking after losing a star. some do and some don't, and considering the quality of writing on this show, I'd have to put this in the "some don't" category. not to mention, we now have freaking joe montegna. seriously. this show is not going to have any trouble.

the most trouble will be trying not to think of THE SIMPSONS every time I hear joe montegna talk *facepalm*.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Criminal Minds has never been just about one person. It wasn't the Jason Gideon show and it will be perfectly fine without him.

In the UK, Taggart is still going strong, despite the main character, DCI Taggart, having died in 1994! At the end of the day, strong characterisation and writing make a show, not one actor/prima donna.

  23. The press ignored CM at the beginning...and our show grew in the silence.
The press only made bad and sometimes even wicked critics...and our show bloomed like a beaurtiful flower.
The press started unwillingly to show interest in the show, since it was becoming n° 1...and audience means money...
Now let them spit their poison again with extreme satisfaction for a while.
They will come back to lick our show's @$$, don't worry.
The show is ours, and we will show them.

P.S. Mandy should protect his glass of water...crazy CM fans could drop POISON in it...LOL! Just JOOOOOOOKING!!!! Good luck to Mandy, he was great, despite it all...

    ReplyDelete
  24. I can't wait for s3. And I welcome Joe to the show.

The critics that slate something before having seen it or giving it a chance obviously have nothing better to write.

I love the blog and I think it will last much longer than the show...however long that is...just because of the community that has now developed around it.

    Well done Jill

    ReplyDelete
  25. Paolo's absolutely right -- most of the critics haven't had a nice thing to say about CM since day 1, so why should they change now?

It must totally gravel their garters that CM's consistently in the top 20. And that they have to come here for the fresh and correct news. Bwahahaha! The best revenge, they say, is living well, or in the case of CM, continuing to do well. As for all the fuss of the past month -- ugh, it's been awful, but how many new people might come to the show just to see what all the fuss was about? And as we all know here, once you've had just a little taste, you can't help wanting more ...

As for the shelf life of the blog -- I think it's here as long as Jill's nerves and heart and soul hold out. The news is wonderful, the pictures are fantastic, the caps are outstanding (thanks, Stacy!) and the community is amazing. I'm sure it's much more work than I can imagine, but the results are awesome, and I don't think we're going away any time soon.

    Can't wait for S-3 -- it's gonna be great!

    ReplyDelete
  26. It is amazing how quickly the press can turn on a dime. I think they really only respect the show when there is something in it for them. If they can get an interview they are cordial and flattering for that but then turn ugly again later. The show is sooo good and it has never been about just one actor.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I hope that Lin is right and that this mess might attract new fans. I think we did lose some when Mandy left but I hope that it is a small number. The Criminal Minds community is wonderful.

    ReplyDelete
  28. The majority of the press has always been really hard on the press. It sucks.

    ReplyDelete
  29. They sure did enjoy writing about the story. Every mag and online "news" agency ran numerous stories. I think it is all out to make a buck with no desire for the truth. I wonder if they do to watch the show. Maybe they do not watch it because it is great.

    ReplyDelete
  30. The negative attention that MP brought to the show by leaving is just another thing I am mad at him for. I will miss Gideon but now the wicked press says that he will be back for a couple of episodes. I don't want to see him again. I am done with him and ready to tell him to take a walk. We have Joe Mantegna now and don't need to want a whiny baby on the show.

    ReplyDelete
  31. They keep forgetting that we have six other actors on the show. I feel like they are forgotten more and more with every dreadful article I read and now they are bringing up Shemar's situation again. It is horrible. I think to predict how long a show you hate is going to remain on the air is short sighted and unfair. I watch the show and I think it has years of great times in it. I love CM and I love the blog.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I think the show is gonna be really better this season and will win awards.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Joe Mantegna rules proud in 2007!

    ReplyDelete
  34. The press will slink away when all this is a distant mess. They just want to have ratings and circulation. Some of the articles just state the facts and I like that. The big "Aus" should have someone break him fingers...only kidding but the man sucks dirt. Real bile dirt.

Criminal Minds is going to get better every year. I believe it.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Go team Criminal Minds!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. The thought of having Mandy back for even a few minutes in season three makes me ill. It is hard enough not screaming at him when I watch the repeats each week and now to muddy season three up with his face. Yuk!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I wish everyone would watch the show and like it but not everyone is going to enjoy it like we do. I think that is just called life but to write mean spirited articles for the sake of who knows what is irresponsible and mean.

The show is my favorite, with or without Gideon. I love watching it. I also love the blog so I am hoping for many more years of both.

    ReplyDelete
  38. The show will go on for many seasons more.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Mandygate needs to be over. I am sick of the online press writing about him.

    ReplyDelete
  40. There are so many show like Law and Order and ER that have major and numerous cast changes and it never hurts them. I think the change will be smooth. I welcome Joe Mantegna with open arms.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Criminal Minds has always been a fans' show and now even more because of Ed Bernero and nothing has changed in my mind.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I watch the show every week and read the blog several times everyday and I want it to stay that way for a long time.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I'm not going to stop watching a quality show like CM because of some fraction of a man who slinked into the night like a coward. Grow up Mandy and get the hell away from our show. You had your chance.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I think Criminal Minds will last a long long time. It's a fabolous show.

    ReplyDelete
  45. i'll be completely honest that the column i wrote today isn't the most positive. but as a fan of the show, i made it known that this was just my initial reaction, and i can be proven completely wrong. also, i said that part of the reason i'm hard on the show is because of how much i love it. i want it to do as well as possible. i absolutely think the show will survive, and would have survived no matter who they chose.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Mandy Who??? Is the best quote. Love the show and love the blog and the blogger. :)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Pffft, critics, schmitics, they wouldn't know a good show from a hole in the ground. It's the true fans' opinions that really count.CM will continue to have wonderfully written shows with lots of heartfelt drama and strong characters. I have the fullest confidence that the ratings will not sag faster than a pair of pants on a teenage boy!!!
    Here's to season 3!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  48. SUPER SUMMARY, JILL...!!

MY CRYSTAL BALL SEES GREAT THINGS AHEAD FOR "CRIMINAL MINDS". AND MY BALL IS ALWAYS RIGHT!!!

WHERE ONE DOOR CLOSES, OFTEN A BETTER ONE OPENS. (GOD OR SOMEONE SAID THAT...JOKING!).

    LOVE TO US ALL.

    ReplyDelete
  49. So I see on TVGUIDEonline that Mandy will be back for one scene on October 3. Word is, no one in the cast was willing to work with him, so he is in his scene alone.

    How interesting!
    -DD
    P.S. Thank you, Shemar! ;)

  50. I believe what I am reading and hearing is wishful thinking.

If Mr Keitel had a same or similar problem with "Management" as did our original guy....then possible their second or third choice is a "weak sell-out"

The show is marked for failure, maybe last season.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I think everything with the show will be great.

Oh for god-sakes. Stop with the negativity. If you believe everything you read, then you are extremely gullible.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I seriously hate the negative vibes I'm getting on this blog. Negativity doesn't get anywhere. If you want to keep dissing on the show and keep saying it will fail, cause many believe the "management" is trouble, then you were never a true fan to begin with or just spouting off information because you think it's right.

    Get over it.

CM is going to be around for a long time.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I can't wait for Season Three. We're going to get an Emmy this year, I know it!

We just need to send positive and happy thoughts our shows away, and ignore the negativity. Negativity ruins things. Being positive can only make it better.

    ReplyDelete
  55. With the outstanding cast & writers this show has i don't think we need worry!!

    ReplyDelete
  56. I believe about a tenth of what I read in the papers about important issues. I am not going to let anyone influence me on what tv shows to adore. I love the show.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Critics have been negative about the show from the very first episode. They've gotten a lot of atention from being negative about CM and will continue to do so because they don't want to admit that they were wrong in the first place. I really enjoy the show. I agree with everyone about being happy that Mandygate is finally over.

    ReplyDelete
  58. It is very pleasing to have Mandy over with once an for all. I don't want to see him in season three but I know they have to have his character end. I would never stop watching the show because of Mandy's horrible behavior. I have no respect for him anymore.

The show is wonderful and I love the writing so I will watch every week and hopefully soon we will never have to hear his name mentioned again.

    ReplyDelete
  59. There is a difference between being a bit nervous about how the new character will be written in and deciding to not watch on some kind of misguided loyalty to one of seven actors. Why would anyone with a brain give up the show over one moral less person.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I love the show.
    I love the writing.
I love the thrill of the episodes.
    I love the characters.
I love the cast and crew.
    I love Ed.
I did not like Mandygate and the journalists that felt the need to spit in the sore.

    ReplyDelete
  61. If someone doesn't like the show then they are entitled to their opinion but they should go someplace else other than a blog devoted to the show. The only reason someone has to be negative here and say the show is over is to stir up trouble and we have a word for that. The word is troll.

We are going to have a great new season.

    ReplyDelete
  62. We have a new beginning with a bright new actor and that is something to be really excited about.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I'd like your honest opinions on my column then - I don't consider myself like every other TV critic as I've actually watched every episode of Criminal Minds, and I love the show. I might be a journalist, but I'm also a huge fan. I don't think there's anything wrong with being hesitant about the addition of a new character - in my column I say I know the show will do well no matter what. But I'm not so sure that means that we can't question certain decisions.

    Thoughts?

    ReplyDelete
  64. People are either fans of the show or not. A true fan sees the big picture and not just one actor or actress. I have always liked the show and I am really looking forward to watching the new season.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Jacki,

I read what you wrote and you are an obvious fan. I think the conversation is more in regards to the crappy crude that is spewing from the post, tv guide and all the zillion online "critics". You are a fan and you have the right to any and all opinions regarding the show. Non-fans DON"T.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Fans of the show have a right to an opinion. The last time I looked the Big A at tvguide was not a fan.

I think the show certainly is facing some hurdles but it is nothing that they can't overcome.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I am looking forward to putting Mandy permanately behind us. I am no longer his fan.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I think that it is sad that he did this but the show is going to remain strong in the ratings. I think it might even help the show to have somebody new on it.

    ReplyDelete
  69. The show and the blog are great. I hope to be watching both for many happy years to come. Hurray up Season 3.

    ReplyDelete
  70. He did this once before on another series he was on.It also was very successful. I think he just tries to destroy shows. He won't destroy CM and he did not destroy CH.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I applaud everyone involved for their decision to not work with Mandy. As much I liked his character on the show, he needs to take responsibility for his need to feel superior to everyone else involved with the show. This certainly isn't the first time he's pulled this kind of crap. I feel that the talent of all of the other actors and actresses on this show will more than make up for the loss of his character on the show. And I certainly will continue watching. Bye bye Mandy!

    ReplyDelete
  72. Love the show and I intend to watch the entire new season. I bet it is going to be great.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I hope the "shelf life" of the show and the blog is very long! I love both.

I think we deserve some peace and quiet after the crap with MP but evidently CBS or the powers that be think giving information to Ausiello, who hates the show with a passion, is a good idea. They suck. I think people writing articles that talk badly about our newest actor are cruel and mean.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I am intrigued by the mentality that has the newest rumors swirling around the internet that this was all just a setup and that Mandy was always planning on leaving and that the show did all of this as a way to let him go and to get publicity. They think all this was planned out a long time ago. Interesting theory. I wouldn't put it past the network but I don't believe Ed would do that to us. I think these people are wacka doodles.

    ReplyDelete
  75. OMG. Give me a break!

    ReplyDelete
  76. How does a critic pronounce that a show has died before the new season has even begun?!?!

I think it is a desperate day when hundreds of columns are being written about a show that most of them either do not like or do not watch. I would think they should know something about their subject matter.

I am tuning in for the new season. Looking forward to it!

    ReplyDelete
  77. I'm ready to move on and I bet everyone else it too. I can't imagine what it would've been like for Mandy to come back to shoot another scene or two. After just leaving like that, I'd be pretty pissed at him too. I wonder how many dirty looks he received? LOL!

Anyway, the critics can talk bad about our show as much as they want, it's not gonna change the fact that us true fans love the show and will be there to through thick and thin. I ignore most of what they say because it's not true or they try and put in their own feelings, which isn't right to do.

I can't wait for the new season. Heck, maybe with all this publicity we might pull in some new fans.

I am going to miss Mandy, he was a great actor, but I'm even more excited to see the new cast work together !!!!

    LONG LIVE CM!!!

  79. jacki ,
its clear you are a fan of the show
please keep writing honestly and passionately about Criminal Minds
even if we diasagree every now and then
we have enough bashers in the media attacking CM
we need our friends writing about the show too
and you are most definietly a friend
    thanks for the support

  80. I think CM will be fine; it has a good audience. People who leave because Mandy is no longer on it were never true CM fans anyway.

As for the press, it gives me the giggles to have people I work with give me the latest "news" only to have me tell them "Oh, I knew that a couple days ago from reading the blog" or "I don't believe it till I read it on the blog!"

    ReplyDelete
  81. I can't wait to see the end of all this. Mandy is gone. Gideon will soon be gone. By sweeps time, we'll have Rossi/Mantegna. It's all good and as has been said by others, many tv shows go through cast changes and continue to do well, so I'm not worried about CM, given that they have the best writers around...and the best actors. :D

Yanno, as long as Thomas Gibson is on the show? I'm happy.

I really can't wait for the new season to start...:D

    ReplyDelete
  82. The conspiracy theory actually has a few hundred posts about it on another site. Amazingly, and nobody hates to admit this more than me, they have some good points. CBS let him go without any fight and wished him well. What the hell was that.

Basically the thinking is that they always knew he was not coming back. He used the time to put together the very large concert tour he now has. The network didn't want it announced at the end of last season because the panic would have set in then which would have hurt the repeat ratings and probably syndication of the second season. Then when Shemar got into so much trouble with his DUI they decided the time was right to divert attention from Shemar's problems and so Mandygate was formulated. They sent Shemar and Mandy to represent the show in Monte Carlo and had hundreds of pics of them playing around together taken. Shemar has been the cast member to sound the most hurt by what Mandy did so it made him the grieving cast mate instead of the CBS star with a DUI. It is further stated that Mandy agreed to be the villian to get out of the concert.

Hey before you flame me just remember not to shoot the messager. There are a lot of fans who think this is plausible.

    ReplyDelete
  83. That rumor was started by a sleezy journalist and has made its way onto a few of the Criminal Minds "fan" sites. I am constatly getting emails about it. Lets not have it here or on any of the sites I run please. Pure garbage.

    ReplyDelete
  84. It is a common opinion this last week with some fans that someone had to have had this planned before he left the show. whether or not it was planned that he 'walk out ' of the show in order to do the tour, or if he was just going to do a few shows, and fit it in around filming we'll never know. I do know is that it would take a serious amount of organization, and most importantly a lot of time to get a tour organized, which is something that apparently he hasn't had much of since being on the show. It would seem to me that it is possible that someone knew something. Maybe they failed to tell Ed and his production staff because they did not want it leaked. It seems bizarre that cbs is known for playing hard ball with diva stars but wished him well and let him walk away.

Remember of course that all this started with a media story so the grains of salt should be rather large. I'll still watch the show but I would not be so quick to dismiss this news article. Someone could very well have leaked it to them.

    ReplyDelete
  85. We really should not take the media reports on this too seriously and the groups talking about it should be ashamed of themselves.

CM will be just fine in season three.`

    ReplyDelete
  86. This is rubbish. The naked pictures canceled out the DUI so there goes the theory completely. Just slack it off to bad press.

    ReplyDelete
  87. That is really ridiculous. If anyone believes entertainment media reports, than the world is in deep doo-doo.

CM is going to be fine, and people should just ignore what's being said!

    ReplyDelete
  88. It's unfortunate that some writers can only think of something negative to say about a quality, established show, even if they haven't seen any of the season's episodes!

Does negativity sell better? I'm really curious.

    ReplyDelete
  89. I am still waiting for Mandy to apologize to us fans. It is taking him longer than rerun season which seems like an enternity. I am really looking forward to our new season.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I think that whoever thought this latest brainstorm up is nuts.

    ReplyDelete
  91. I am excited that the new season starts soon. It has been a long rerun season and I want some new CM excitement.

  92. I am excited that we are finally going to get to see "Doubt"!!!!

Wait, we are?? If they do air it, they seriously need to do some editing.

    ReplyDelete
  94. "Doubt" is our first episode of the season.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Yeah!

I'm going to say one last thing about Mandy Patinkin and then I don't ever want to speak about him again. I think he did a great job but the show needed good press and not bad press. His leaving, any way he left, did not garner the show good press. I know there is that saying about any press is good press but that is not true. It is hard to interest your friends in watching a show that has been splashed all over the internet and looks like a bad show. I wish Mandy well and now it is time for him to be really gone from the show.

On another website a woman has posted major spoilers. It is horrible if they are true. It makes me not want to watch that episode. I will watch the season but even I am going to pass on the episode she posted about. It is lame.

    ReplyDelete
  96. I will watch this season no matter what!

    ReplyDelete
  97. I hear you Corinth. I had to cancel mine as well. I was tired of the same horrible stories showing up 50 times a day. The show is so good and if they would really watch it then I am sure they would change their reviews. How can anyone not like CM!

    ReplyDelete
  98. I'm going to admit that durring the first season of the show I listened to the reviewers and took the why start watching it if it's just going to get canceled attitude. Then when the reviewer approved show I was watching was airing re-runs i tried an episode...I've been watching ever since. And have been making up my own mind on what i watch.

Reviewers are no different from the rest of us. The big "problem" I see them having with criminal minds is all about ratings and competition. Minds has faced off with critical darlings and the thought that people might not watch the show they are so in love with boggles them.

Another reason I'm seeing for all the venom is a general bitterness from the "media" in information coming out any way other that a formal press release to them. If say a producer goes to the fans instead of them they get really unhappy. I saw this blatently in a certian TV critics comments regarding another show.

As far as the future of the show it's all up to the writters and the cast and there more than capable of handling this. The situation that comes to mind with all of this was David Caruso leaving NYPD Blue. They managed to replace him and all was good.

    Heres to season 3!

    ReplyDelete
  99. It was refreshing to hear Shemar's honesty about how he felt with Mandy leaving the show. It shows that he is truly a committed member of this cast. He's truly the star of this show!

Please don't believe everything you read regarding spoilers. Some people get it right, most get it wrong...until we get something from CBS? Take anything you read spoiler wise with several grains of salt...unaired eps can be changed drastically before they air.

  101. I'm so excited about the new season. I read this someplace else:

"Mantegna is expected to make his first appearance on Criminal Minds on the fifth episode of the upcoming season."

So they have plenty of time to clean up Gideon.

  102. I agree about the spoilers usually being wrong, the media being ruthless and horrible (not all of them)and I really share the desire to see Mandygate truly come to an end.

Whoever leaked a story (or maybe it was just made up) about the cast & crew refusing to work with Mandy really screwed up. That is not professional behavior either. I have supported the show through all of this but that left a bad taste or two in my mouth.

Let the season begin and lets see how great it is!

  103. Joe is going to be a great addition to the cast. I don't think of him as a replacement for Mandy but rather an addition. Maybe I am just dumb but I am horrified as a fan that some sites are posting such detailed spoilers.

  104. Lying just isn't my thing so I will admit that I read the "articles" being written. Fan ones I respect but the others fall into two types: Bashing for a buck and factual articles. The sad part is that most of them are just bashing for a buck.

  107. While I hate to see Mandy go, one person didn't make the show and one person leaving won't break it. The writers have always given us great stories and the quality preformancesof the remaining cast are not going to change. The dynamics of the show will be slightly altered, but sometimes change can be a positive thing. Not only do I think CM will survive, I think it will thrive. I for one will keep watching. True greatness will not be undone by the actions of one man.

  110. I think the show has taken a huge hit thanks to Mandy and the press but that in the end things will be ok.
