I really did not like her character at all in the beginning. I am not sure if it was not liking change or missing Elle but I really like Emily now. She is smart and tough and she stopped saying "Sir" every two minutes.
I haven't heard her called Morticia in awhile. I can't remember who started that but that flew through the internet like hot cakes. I like Prentiss now. I only knew Paget from "Friends" but I think she is doing a really great job as Emily.
I kind of love her, and I have for a while. She's awkward and uncertain and self-conscious, but she's so strong; when she's sure she's right (or when someone's being a jerk), she's right there telling them.
And, heh, I kind of like her "sirs," especially when they're sarcastic.
I love her character. She began very insecure but has grown into her position with the group. Paget is a fine actress and I love her with Shemar. -DD P.S.Thank you, Shemar! ; )
I love this woman. I have since she played Kathy on Friends. I think she had a rough time of finding a good solid series to sink her teeth into but I feel she does an impressive job on this show. I've liked her since day 1.
Lee :)
PS: I don't know if it helps that I never liked Elle.
I've liked her character and Paget from the beginning. She's a wonderful actress and she's played Emily's "period of adjustment" within the group very well. Emily is a great addition to the BAU team and Paget is a great addition to the cast. I hope we find out more about her background in Season 3 and maybe get another guest appearence from Kate Jackson.
I've always liked Emily from the beginning. I felt sorry for her when she first arrived when Hotch told her there must have been a mistake. Imagine turing up for a new job on your first day and being told it was a mistake! That must have been a bit of a slap on the face! She's strong but can be fun too and I think really fits in with the dynamics of the group.
I didn't like Prentiss to start with but she has slowly grown on me and I am much more of a fan now. I think it was her finally giving as good as she got with Reid that tipped the balance for me and I think Paget does a great job.
I like her better than Elle. I always felt like Elle (and the actress) did really want to be there. That just my opinion. Although, her character begged to be in the BAU.
Brewster plays Emily smart but strange ( I saying this from her lack of emotions on occasion) enough to fit in to this role.
I was one of the few who really liked her from the beginning. When Elle left, I was very willing to give her a shot, and I'm glad I did. Her character has grown so much, all in good ways, into a respectable team member. I think she's also still got some skeletons in her closet to work out in the upcoming season as well, especially with the season finale and what her new "assignment" is.
I liked her from the beginning also. I like the character. The writers did seem to want us to dislike her at first. I wonder if they were building up to the season finale that way?
I am still getting to grips with the change over from Elle to Emily (missed loads of S2). Don't really love or hate the character....still getting to grips with her really. Some good bits, some bits I think...what was the point.... Will have to have a marathon session watching all of S1 and S2 then make a comment! lololol
I loved PB in Friends. She was great. I have come to really like the Prentiss character. As someone else commented before me she is a very strong female character and I like that.
Like so many of you, it took awhile to warm up to Emily Prentiss--but that is the way her character is written. She is finding her way and I hope she tells Director Strauss where to go and exactly what to do with her ridiculous request.
Paget is a great actress and really funny, too. If you ever see "My Big Fat Independent Movie" playing on TV, check it out. Paget is a riot in it. The movie is really odd, but Paget did a great job in it.
I like her and always have - even in the beginning when we didn't know too much about her, you could tell she had layers - y'know, like Shrek, like an onion. Can't wait to see how she peels out in season 3.
I started consistently watching the show after S2 had finished because of the last five minutes of a repeat of "Revelations". That little scene was so amazing to me that right then and there I caught up with the entire show - starting backwards. I began with "The Big Game" (of course, to finish "Revelations") and watched through "The Evilution of Frank" before I watched S1. So, to me, Emily was a staple of the series as she was in the cast I first knew, and had easily become someone I had grown to love. When I finally watched S1 and the beginning of S2, I actually didn't like Elle that much and was so glad that Emily would eventually replace her.
I forgot about Paget being Kathy on Friends. That is so cool. I warmed to the character of Emily after a few episodes. Now I don't even think of her as new. That is what will happen when they find a replacement for MP.
I think the writers purposely wrote her as being somewhat too much. Some of us really disliked her but we focused on that and not on Elle leaving. Then they toned her down and it was fine. I wonder if they did this on purpose with that in mind. Our writers are very good. Maybe they pulled a "dislike one" to forget the other on us. Either way I am fine with Prentiss now!
Sometimes when a woman is strong she is considered brash. I think that is the impression many had of Prentiss when she first came aboard. I have enjoyed the character from the beginning.
I could not stand the character when she joined the group. I really disliked her but over time the newness wore off and she mellowed out and I like her now.
Emily Prentiss is one hell of a agent...and a pretty sick one. In "Slave of Duty", when the UNSUB is apprehended and is on the ground; Prentiss gets on top, puts her gun to his face and dry humps the poor guy until...well he has a little unexpected accident. I'm pretty sure that wasn't protocol.
I love her! she's got a lot of talent! :)

ReplyDeleteA.J. is strong in a sweet way and Garcia is everyone's darling but Emily is strong in a very determined way. I like that.
ReplyDeleteIt took me a minute or two but I like the character now. I don't think she will turn on Hotch so I think season three will be a good one for Emily.
ReplyDeleteI kind of love her, and I have for a while. She's awkward and uncertain and self-conscious, but she's so strong; when she's sure she's right (or when someone's being a jerk), she's right there telling them.

The Prentiss character wasn't impressive to me in the beginning but after a couple of episodes I really started liking her.

ReplyDeleteI like Prentiss now. She is softer that she was in the beginning.
ReplyDeleteI missed Elle for awhile but I have warmed to Emily. Paget as an actress was never in question. She is great.
ReplyDeletePrentiss took a minute but I am on board unless she screws Hotch and then I am not going to be a happy kitten.

ReplyDeleteLoved her from Day One!!! She is refreshing, glowing, and captivating. My hubby feels the same. We both took to her favorably right away.
ReplyDeleteI never liked Elle. But, Paget was an EXCELLENT choice by the casting in my opinion.

ReplyDeleteNicely done Paget. You won most of us over to the Prentiss side of life!
ReplyDeleteEmily is out there representing for the girl nerds of the world, and I am totally behind every awkward, over-intellectualized minute of it.
ReplyDeleteAlso, anybody who can handle "Brad" as well as she did is all right with me.
I can't wait to find out more about her, and how she responds to the dilemmas she's facing.

ReplyDeletePaget won me over!
ReplyDeleteEmily is smart and experienced and strong. All great qualities.
ReplyDeleteI was one of the people in the minority. I liked Prentiss from the beginning. We knew she was coming and I was ready to like her and I did.
ReplyDeleteI love Prentiss.
ReplyDeleteShe won me over. It took time but she won me over.
ReplyDeleteI could not stand the character when she joined the group. I really disliked her but over time the newness wore off and she mellowed out and I like her now.
ReplyDeleteI don't think she will sell out Hotch. I like her!
ReplyDeleteShe fits in much better now.
ReplyDeleteI liked her from the very first minute and I can't await to see more eps with her - which I will in about half an hour... ;-)
