I started to watch this becasue of amndy also, but it is the storylines that make me come back each week to it and also to see mandy and thomas and shemare and matthew and aj and kristen and paget and well I am addictaed to it
I can not tell a lie. I watch the show for Matthew Gubler's Spencer Reid. If the show wrote off Spencer I would stop watching. I'm sorry, it's just the way I feel. It's a good show though, my husband made me watch cause he thought I'd like the "nerd guy".
I started watching because I'm addicted to crime shows :) My dad and I started watching it and quickly became hooked because of the great stories and that it offered a different view of the crimes. Now I've gotten several of my friends and their parents addicted to it as well. I think I keep coming back to watch it every week because of the great writing, but also the cast is fantastic, particularly Matthew and Kirsten.
Although, I'd have to agree with Lee in that Matthew were to be written off the show I'd have a hard time watching it, he's just the best!
Criminal Minds is a very good show, with it's many appealing characters, a great cast, interesting stories, and excellent writing, but it's really Mandy Patinkin that keeps me coming back week after week. If he were to decide to leave, I don't really know if I would continue to watch or not. I might, but I probably wouldn't look forward to each new episode with as much anticipation as I do now.
If you want the deeper reason,CM has excellent multifaceted characters and intriguing storylines that explores the depths of human behavior. If you want the shallow reason, hands down it's has the best male eye candy in town!!!!!!!!!!
I started watching because of Mandy. But I've grown to love all the actors, the characters, and for the most part, the writing. There are maybe one or two episodes I'm not crazy about, but on the whole, it's one of the very best things on tv. And this show is not afraid to shake things up, make it interesting; so many shows follow the crime show formula (CSI's 7th season finale is one very apt, very disappointing example), but this one keeps you on your toes. And, as in life, the good guys don't always win. Sometimes they lose, and sometimes it's kind of a tie. All hot stuff.
I started watching after seeing the Superbowl episode. I've seen the show before, but never stuck with me. I didn't watch too much of the first season because Lost was on the same time (hangs head in shame) but I do remember some of the episodes. After that Superbowl episode I became a fan. It was a great episode and I couldn't wait to see what happened to that skinny, gorgeous, geeky, brain Dr. Reid. After I saw Revelations, I immediately bought the 1st season on DVD and now I'm a huge fan. I love all the characters and the stories. I also love all the actors. Shemar is a hottie and I loved Thomas from Dharma and Greg and off course Mandy. But, if Matthew wasn't on the show, I really don't know if I would be as huge of a fan as I am now. He just makes the show for me.
I started in some strange way... my mum just told me one day "Last night, I saw a new drama, and there was a incredible guy... he knows almost everything... a real brain..." and just in that moment (we were having dinner) the promo from the next episode apperared. She just point at Spencer, and I felt in love xDDD
no really, it sounds very interesting for me, because that's what I'm studing at university. And since that day, I've never lost a chapter
One question: is it ok to use verb use in that way? (I can't control your idioms xD)
And of course, I have to agree with Lee, rebeca and lots of you, that Spence is just the reason I see CM xDD, ok, if he wasn't on the show, I'm sure that I would see it anyway, but without him it's not the same...
Like many of you, I started to watch the show because of Mandy, and have come to love all the characters. The show's premise, studying the psychology of the criminals is really interesting. It is a smart show, and makes you pay attention. That is why I have stuck with it.
The subject of human behavior is much more interesting to me than physical evidence, which is a bit overdone on tv right now. The show addresses the subject in new and creative ways.
I have always enjoyed Mandy's work, which is why I gave the show a second look last fall. I like the depth of all the characters. They are characters not caricatures.
I agree with the Spencer Reid lovers out there, that he is an integral part of what makes the show different. Go geeks!
I started watching "Criminal Minds" because of Shemar (sigh!). However, I do enjoy watching the entire cast and all the different personalities working together.
I didn't start watching the show until June of last year. Season 1 was over and reruns were on. I was flipping through the channels with my remote control and I came across the show.
I told my mother about the show and she got hooked on it, too. We were watching "Ashes and Dust" last week. She called me and said, "Did you see how that man got set on fire like that?"
So now I have all of my Wednesday evenings planned.
I watched it because I saw the commercials for it during the end of the previous tv season/in the summer before it started. I'd just been watching Mandy in DLM and I've always enjoyed watching Thomas Gibson.
I was hooked from the first ep--I like that the show dealt with the psychological aspects of the crimes; I grew to love the characters quickly...and I watch the show now for the stories it tells, but I also love Hotch and Reid...they're part of what keeps me tuning in. I'm to the point now, though, that if TG left the show (not that I think he's going to) I'd be gone too, but that's just me. :D
Of course, we're blessed to have a wonderful cast and crew who put out the best show on TV. *G*
I was looking for something to watch one night and stumbled across it. I took one look at MGG and was hooked! That and it has a similiar story line to CSI (they are solving a crime) and I enjoy those type of shows. My favorite shows to watch are all crime drama shows. Why? I have no clue, but its just the type of shows that I love to watch. It only seemed logical to watch Criminal Minds as its part of that.
I started watching because the newspaper had it as cable pick of the day and I have always loved Mandy from the Princess Bride. And the story telling, characters (Hotch and Reid and Garcia in particular) and the way the show subverts your expectations kept me watching and now, alas, I'm hooked!
I watched the first episode because it was a crime drama -- which I love. I watched the second episode -- and every one after that -- because of Matthew Gray Gubler.
Yes, it is good writing. Yes, it is a wonderful cast. Everything about it is great, but MGG makes it "mandatory viewing" for me. For one hour on Wednesday nights, I am a CM zombie.
Like Debbie said, I basically have no outside contact for that hour on Wednesday nights. I remember when Revelations aired, I had to be out of town that night and couldn't watch it. I was so in a hurry to get back home to see it and praying to the high heavens that my VCR didn't screw up.
I watch it for the character dynamics. The stories are an added bonus. Rarely does a show have such solid characters that interact so well. I love that. It is like watching a dysfunctional, yet loving, family.
The stories hold my attention like no other show has done in a long time. I like the character development that has been taking place the past two seasons and I look forward to watching the characters grow even more in the third season.
I started watching the show because Shemar Moore was going to be in it but quickly got sucked in to the whole concept of the show. I have loved the show from day one.
I watched my first episode after the Super Bowl and was hooked. It really was such a great episode to see if you had not watched before. Then I googled and found this blog and watched more episodes and now I am hooked!
I actually started watching during the first season by accident. I was at a friend's house and the tv was just on and we started watching it while we shared some wine. We have watched it every week together since! Love the stories.
I started watching because it looked good and there was nothing else on that particular evening that I was interesting in watching. Now I watch because of the stories.
I started watching Criminal Minds because the promos made the show sound different than the other crime shows that were on and because Shemar was going to be on it. I continue to watch because it is an exc. show.
I started watching the show because of Mandy and Thomas but I watch it now because of the writing and stories.
ReplyDeleteThe show hooked me with the premiere and I think it is a combo for me of the cast, the stories and the thrill of the show.
ReplyDeleteI started to watch this becasue of amndy also, but it is the storylines that make me come back each week to it and also to see mandy and thomas and shemare and matthew and aj and kristen and paget and well I am addictaed to it
ReplyDeletebecasue of mandy and the other wonderful actors in it and also the brillant way it is written and acted
ReplyDeleteThe writing and the actors; especially Matthew.
ReplyDeleteI started watching for Shemar and Thomas. Now I watch for Thomas and the well written stories.
ReplyDeleteI can not tell a lie. I watch the show for Matthew Gubler's Spencer Reid. If the show wrote off Spencer I would stop watching. I'm sorry, it's just the way I feel. It's a good show though, my husband made me watch cause he thought I'd like the "nerd guy".
ReplyDeleteVIVA LA SPENCER REID!!!
Lee :)

It is a well written show with an excellent cast. They manage to toe the line between being plot driven and being character driven very well.

ReplyDeleteOne word...
ReplyDeleteMandy
*giggles*
Frankly, all the characters are just amazing. And the science of the show is the best...it makes Thomas Harris movie pale in comparison
If you want the deeper reason,CM has excellent multifaceted characters and intriguing storylines that explores the depths of human behavior. If you want the shallow reason, hands down it's has the best male eye candy in town!!!!!!!!!!
