CRIMINAL MINDS: BUYER BEWARE
Criminal Minds: As most Criminal Minds fans already know there is a site on the internet that sells the script pages that actors use to rehearse for auditions to be on Criminal Minds. It used to require a monthly admission fee but now sells for $1 per page which makes it more affordable to any Criminal Minds fan who want them. If you are buying the pages for fun then cool beans but the titles they use are working titles and not usually the ones the show ends up using and for the most part half of every page, or the whole page, will never be in the episode. These pages are simply for actors to be able to audition so casting can get a feel for whether they are right for a certain part. This is an industry tool for casting. Spreading and posting the information from these pages all over the internet without telling people it is all MORE than subject to change is irresponsible. Sometimes people buy these pages and tell others that the info is gospel. Simply not the case. Here is the site address should anyone want it: http://www.showfax.com/project_selection.cfm?l=1&t=1
I have bought a couple of pages. You and I have had this conversation recently and I was completely amazed at how worthless they were. Most of the lines are crossed out and not even the character names were correct once the episode aired. I am happy you FINALLY decided to say something about this.
ReplyDeletegood of you to warn about this, did you know that also their are some bootleg dvds of series 2, or so I am told, as I had a junk email sent to me,and looked at it,when I saw the words dear criminal minds fan on the email heading.just thought you should be aware of this....
ReplyDeleteI could not resist a few months back and bought a few pages. It was garbage for me as a fan though I am sure it is important for an actor like Kris to have access to.
ReplyDeleteMajor Ditto!
ReplyDeleteI bought some CM things off of Ebay and was really disappointed.
ReplyDeleteI received an email from another group offering bootleg dvds. I wonder if it was the same thing as anonymous was sent. I trashed the email.
ReplyDeleteI did see that you can rent season two dvds on nextflix.
ReplyDeleteGube posed awhile back that there were "autographed" pics of him on ebay that were fakes. I think you are really right when you say the buyer needs to beware.
frances,I think that the emails about cm dvds etc that you and I and probably others get sent are the type, that people, search the internet for fans of popular shows and just send us rubbish, maybe mine were the same as yours. ownder if anyone else has had these
ReplyDeleteI am now going to check all my junk mails for these type of emails, but they are often addressed to you in the first person...
ReplyDeleteJill, this is great information to share with everyone! People buy these sides all the time and come to forums like yours thinking they have inside information. The real story about these pages coming from someone as respected as you will go great lengths to disabuse people of these notions - and maybe save some real fans some money, too!
ReplyDeleteI read the sides just for fun, and to get a general idea what the episode is going to be about. I know it's not gospel. They don't have cross outs and other changes for nothing.
ReplyDeleteBut many people do not understand that Diane.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jill for letting all of us know about this. I was cruising on Ebay the other night and saw several "autographed" scripts. Since the prices were so low for them, it immediately made me suspicious that they were fakes.
ReplyDeleteI bought a few pages last season and frankly it ended in the trash. I guess if I was auditioning for the show it would be good but as a fan it was disappointing.
ReplyDeleteSame thing for me Lori. I saw them and thought immediately that they were way to cheap.
ReplyDeleteWise advice!
ReplyDeleteI was taken on Ebay when I bought a picture of Shemar. I liked the picture but it was obviously a fake signature!!!! Unless Shemar doesn't know how to spell his own name.
ReplyDeleteIt is sad that people find it good to make money from fans ,who just want to get items from their fave tv shows or signed items by it stars and forge these stars names ,is',nt their some law against this\?????
ReplyDeleteI am always amazed at the new ways people find to take advantage of fans. I finally had to stop even looking at ebay. I will check this site because it would be nice to see some pages even if they are not used. Thanks Jill
ReplyDeleteMy money is to hard to earn to waste it. Thanks for the heads up.
ReplyDeleteI troll the internet sometimes looking at other sites and I am shocked at the information being posted. Horrible. So glad we have the yahoo group and this blog.
ReplyDeleteBad eggs make bad omelettes. That was my dad's way of saying "garbage in is garbage out". This was a very good and important post.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up. I hate when people, especially the younger fans, are duped.
ReplyDeleteGreat advice. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI don't pay attention to anything if it is not in the TV Guide, cbs.com or your sites.
ReplyDeleteAmen sister! You are so right.
ReplyDeleteI bought a couple also and yuk.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately some people don't really understand that spoilers are not always going to be in the final cut. Lets not forget the Garcia and Morgan cut that was promoed but not aired.
ReplyDeleteI forgot all about that scene. That was unfortunate. I would have liked to have seen that in the episode.
ReplyDeleteIt is pitiful the crap that gets posted on the internet. Hopefully people figure out who the idiots are before they fall in with them.
ReplyDeleteI stick to the reliable sources like yours and a select few that you yourself have written about over the last year. I like mild spoilers but I like for them to be true.
ReplyDeleteI actually read some garbage this week about the show. Spoilers...my butt! No way the network does that crap. Really good post Jill. I know you worry about the newbies being sucked in. There are a few very wonderful and trustworthy sites for them instead to go to for info.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the "heads up." Stuff like that isn't really my thing, but it's fascinating to see the new ways people find to bilk those who are fans of shows. Jerks.
ReplyDeleteNot you. You're an angel!
Quentin's gonna bite 'em!
I have been burnt so many times on ebay that I now refer to it as eburn.
ReplyDeleteI like to buy the occassional script from various shows but I always know they aren't real. I guess there are probably buyers that don't realize it. That really is a shame.
ReplyDeleteI bought some too. Almost all of it was crossed out and it was a waste of download. Looked at it and then deleted it.
ReplyDeleteI bought a few pages after you posted this. They had one CM episode listed. The pages had huge sections crossed out and gave me no real feel for the episode at all. A waste of $12. I should have listened.
