CRIMINAL MINDS: A.J. COOK, ANY THOUGHTS?

Of all the characters on Criminal Minds I know the least about A.J. Cook. There is not a lot of information information on the web about her. Anyone have any thoughts or info to share?

  1. I think she is doing a really good job playing JJ and it is nice that they have increased her role since last season. I think she is a really good actress.

  3. She's a great actor!

I've heard from several sources that she's a devout Mormon - there's a link to the official site of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on her own website.

  4. I think she is still married but no kids that I have read about.

  5. I think she is great but like you I do not know much about her.

  6. I copied her link from imdb.com for everyone:

  7. I also like AJ's acting abilities, and she certainly is a lovely young lady. JJ had one episode sort of revolving around her (North Mammon), but we didn't learn a lot about her character (other than coming from a small town and going to college on a soccer schlorship). I'd like to see more of her and her role in picking BAU cases.

Quentin (the Wonder Collie) reminds us all that JJ had to "shoot" the 3 bad dogs in Revelations and that AJ is probably still upset about that highly emotional scene. He believes that was the best piece of acting he has ever seen.

Quentin also volunteers to guest star as a "psychotherapy dog" to help JJ get over her fear of dogs. (Like, who's going to be afraid of Lassie, right?)

  8. Sometimes I forget she is even part of the team. Beautiful and talented, but somehow is mostly in the background. Perhaps a heavier part would bring her more to light.

  10. I can't claim to know much about the actress as a person, but she does such a fabulous job with what they give her to work with on this show.

JJ is the one single character I really, really want to know more about on this show.

    AJ *and* JJ... so underrated.

  12. I am so impressed with AJ. She does a great job on the show, was awesome in Final Destination 2, and I plan to watch her other movies to see more.

As others have mentioned, she is gorgeous! She lights up the room when she is working with the gang. I wish she was on more in every episode. I would be SO in love with her if she wasn't already married...

  13. I personally think she is just great. I've seen almost everything she has done. I wish a big magazine would do an exclusive on her because she needs more press.

  17. I have read some fans who have seen her movies say she is real good in them.

  18. I love how confident she is. Carries herself very well! Takes control with no problem but asks for help when necessary.

  19. I think that when we get to see her with more than the odd line she does very well. I do wish they would be more consistant with her usage in episodes.

  20. I think I read somewhere that AJ is from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and is married to her high school or college sweetheart.

I also saw somewhere that she was in the movie The Virgin Suicides. I have seen the movie once, but it was so depressing that I don't think I could watch it again, even to see which part AJ played!

  21. I wish we did know more about her. She is a good actress.

  22. I always think of JJ as the buffer between the team and everyone else. Their spokesperson. I don't really think of her as a field agent or a profiler. I really like the actress though, so it would be nice if they did more with her character in the future.

  23. I am going to rent some of her movies and take a look.

  24. I don't know a whole lot about her other than the obvious things like she is talented and beautiful.

  25. North Mammon was a good start for AJ but she needs a larger role in all the episodes.

  26. I think maybe her religion prevents her from doing too many interviews. I would like to know more about her and her hobbies and stuff like that.

  27. It is getting better but she was window dressing in season one and she needs more lines even now.

  28. I like JJ but she looks like she is falling apart since the hostage situation with Reid and nobody is noticing.

  29. She could do with more lines. Seems rather a waste of a talented actress.

  30. I have to say that I agree with the comments before mine. She needs a bigger part on the show.

  31. I have thought that perhaps they were trying to ease her character in slowly. She is obviously very talented.

  32. I think she just needs more lines and a bigger more constant part.

  33. Andrea Joy Cook was born on July 22nd, 1978 in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada.
She grew up with her two brothers, Nathan and Paul, and her one sister, Angie.

A.J. had a normal childhood and trained as a competitive dancer since the age of 4, and while in high-school AJ used to teach kids how to dance. A.J. didn't begin acting until she was 17 years-old, and her fisr job was a McDonalds commercial. She started out with a few very small roles and gradually moved up to bigger roles. Due to her mormon religion, she had to pick her roles very carefully so she didn't compromise her values.

A.J. got married to Nathan Andersen on September 2001.

And here's a quote from her, "I will not do nudity. I will not do a sex scene. There are just certain things I will not do."

  34. here's another quote from A.J. Cook...
"I think there are so many negative role models out there. The last thing I want to do is to contribute to that. There's a line I'm not willing to cross and certain things I just won't do... I'm in it because I love acting and I want to work with good people."

AJ definitely is a multitalented actress with an amazing personality! God bless her!

  35. AJ Cook is really talented.
I especially loved her character of Shelby on Higher Ground.
(Higher Ground is a TV series that aired for one season around 2005.)
