CRIMINAL MINDS: FAVORITE EPISODE FROM SEASON ONE?
Every once in awhile during a Yahoo Criminal Minds Group chat I ask the members what their one favorite episode has been. It is almost impossible for the members to pick just one episode. Lets narrow it down by seasons and see what we come up with. What is your favorite episode from the first season?
1 Extreme Aggressor
2 Compulsion
3 Won't Get Fooled Again
4 Plain Sight
5 Broken Mirror
6 L.D.S.K.
7 The Fox
8 Natural Born Killer
9 Derailed
10 The Popular Kids
11 Blood Hungry
12 What Fresh Hell?
13 Poison
14 Riding the Lightning
15 Unfinished Business
16 The Tribe
17 A Real Rain
18 Somebody's Watching
19 Machismo
20 Charm and Harm
21 Secrets and Lies
22 The Fisher King: Part 1

As much as I love "Watching", I'm gonna have to go with FK-1. After a whole season of great eps, I loved getting to see the team in their down time. It was like knowing someone forever and finally getting to go to their house.
ReplyDeleteIf I can only pick one than it would have to be Riding the Lightning. I loved Garcia being in the field with the unit and the intensity of the storyline was great.
ReplyDeleteL.D.S.K. is the episode that hooked me on the show so I would pick it as my favorite. I am going to have a really hard time picking an episode when you ask about Season Two because I have loved all of them so much. I will start thinking now so I am prepared when you ask. LOL.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely... Fished King Pt. 1
ReplyDeleteLin: I really agree with what you wrote about "getting to go their house". I was talking with Stacy today about this episode and I was saying that it was one of the few episodes where everyone had an equal part. No character was left in the background and I really liked that. Not even the cabin scene could ruin this episode for me. It is so hard to pick just one but I think I would pick FK-1. :)
ReplyDeleteP.S. If it wasn't for this episode we never would have the expression "hib" and what fun would the yahoo group be without that. :)
L.D.S.K
ReplyDeletePaola
I would have to say LDSK as it was the first episode that made me go "Oh, this is actually REALLY good, as opposed to just good."
ReplyDeleteMy favorite was "Someone's Watching." As a romantic, I wanted Reid to find a nice girl. It was special to see him in a different light.
ReplyDeleteI am going to pick "Someone's Watching" but not for the obvious reason (Gubler). I liked seeing Gideon out of his element. We always see him in basic control of his environment and in this episode we have the scene in the art gallery inwhich the young woman that was propositioning him threw him into a lather. He was so not in control that all he could do was insist they leave. And insist and insist. I thought the scene was not only funny but a glimpse at the Gideon who is not always in control and I liked seeing him multi dimensional.
ReplyDelete(If we could pick a second it would be FK1 but you said only one so I won't cheat)
I loved them all but my pick would be Machismo which is kinda funny because I did not like the show the first time I watched it but when I rewatched it I appreciated how Hotch overcame his reluctance to admit there are many ways of accomplishing a task and actually learnt something. Diamond was great in this episode. Great guest stars on this series.

I've gotta stick with L.D.S.K. as it was the episode that hooked me on the show, and still gives me the goosebumps every time I watch it. Being a Reid fan, I loved watching him deal with his gun issues, and I thought Hotch was really well played.
ReplyDeleteIf we got two, I'd pick Somebody's Watching or The Popular Kids. *g*
I'd pick L.D.S.K. as I like the interaction between Hotch and Reid very much... it's great.

I can narrow it down to a top five, but I don't think I can pick just one.
ReplyDeleteIt's either Compulsion, Won't Get Fooled Again, Plain Sight, LDSK, or Riding the Lightning.
No matter how long I stare at that list, I can't figure out which one's my favorite.
LDSK without a doubt because of the amount of Reid we get out of it. The Gube is such an amazing actor!
ReplyDeleteLee
I loved Compulsion the best. The scene with Gideon talking to the male student and profiling him and his girlfriend was amazing. Wonderful example of how intune these agents are at reading the people they meet. I was glued to my set during this show.
ReplyDeleteLDSK gets my vote. I have watched it many times and it still grips me.
ReplyDeleteFisher King One. Loved the scenes showing them out of the office just being people.
ReplyDeleteOkay, since cattylizzie picked more than one, I will too. (I know you're not surprised by this, Jill.) It's like asking someone to pick a favourite child!
ReplyDeleteMy faves LDSK, Natural Born Killers (Hotch rocked in this one), The Tribe (wish they'd bring Blackwolf back, loved his and Hotch's interactions), A Real Rain, Machismo and FK1. Honestly I can't pick just one...;)
Okay since some have picked more than one then now I can answer the question. I tried this morning and couldn't make up my mind: FK-1 and LDSK.
ReplyDeleteI liked Unfinished Business and Plain Sight the best. I know you said one and I gave you two but others did as well. Hope it is okay. Too hard to pick.
ReplyDeletewow... your just suppose to just choose one... out of all the great episodes... well i would have to go with L.D.S.K(lol it was funny in the end..Hotchner: Well, I wouldn't have kept kicking you, I was afraid you didn't get my plan.
ReplyDeleteReid: I got your plan the minute you moved the hostages out of my line of fire.
Hotchner: Well I hope I didn't hurt you too badly.
Reid: Hotch, I was a twelve year old child prodigy in a Las Vegas public high school. You kick like a nine year old girl.
Also since everybody was picking more than one.. another favorite is Plain Sight ( Reid's Birthday ) its so funny when he is trying to blow the cnadles....hehe and he looks so adorkable in the hat
I pick Secrets and Lies. Next would be Machismo.
ReplyDeleteOh, I saw the poll on Cattylizzie's lj...it's really hart to vote...coz I love all the eps...cannot image if any of them was marked "less favor"...
ReplyDeleteI started watching CM because in MY "perfect world," I'm with Shemar Moore. I've continued to watch because I think it is the best show on the air next to 24 for writing, storyline, interaction with the cast, etc. My favorite is "Riding the Lightning" (which didn't even have that much Shemar in it) because Jeannetta Arnette's performance was RIVETING!
ReplyDeleteA hard decision! "LDSK" and "Fisher King I" lead, followed by "Riding the Lightning".
ReplyDeleteI vote for Fisher King because it was so intense.
ReplyDeleteI am going with Riding the Light.
ReplyDeleteI agree, it is so hard to pick a favorite when there are so many I love! As a Gideon/Mandy girl, I loved Riding the Lightening--the empathy and compasion Gideon shows to the mother really touches my heart.
ReplyDeleteI also liked Won't Get Fooled Again--I think it is that one--about the bomber. I loved the look on Gideon's face when he is walking away from the jail cell after he tells off the bomber that originally gave him the breakdown after he killed 6 of Gideon's agents.
I also love the banter between Garcia and Morgan or Reid in all the episodes.
I liked Compulsion, I liked Hotch talking to the unsub and trying to reason with her after he told the team that the unsub couldn't be reasoned with! I also like that I knew where they filmed that episode--Cal State Northridge--that is where I did my first 2 years of college in 1977-79. The library is very memorable and people have used the campus a lot through the years to film TV and movie scenes. They shot the old Battlestar Gallactica at the school when I went there.
I liked Secrets and Lies and FK1
ReplyDeleteFK1
ReplyDeletePoison would get my vote.
ReplyDeleteThe Tribe was my favorite.
ReplyDeleteWhat Fresh Hell for me.
ReplyDeleteWhat Fresh Hell.
ReplyDeletemy favorite episode from the first season is definitely "the tribe". I adore the end, when Hotch and the Indian guy are sitting on the front step next to these cult members that are all lying face down and hog-tied. it's hilarious. that is just such a fantastic episode and the banter between Hotch and the Indian guy is hilarious.

My favorite is "Somebody's watching" because of the fact that Reid is my absolutely favorite character. I also liked "L.D.S.K.", but "Somebody's watching" is my number 1.
