CRIMINAL MINDS: LOLA GLAUDINI INFORMATION
Criminal Minds
Executive Producer Ed Bernero comments on Lola Glaudini leaving the show: “It was definitely a mutual decision. We were looking for a way to shake the cast up a little bit, and she really wanted to go home. She lives in New York and really wanted to go home and do theater. She didn’t love being here in Los Angeles. It was a very amicable parting.” As far as the show acting like Elle never existed, Bernero says that, because of the way Minds works, it wouldn’t have made sense to refer back to the character’s exit. “We don’t follow the sort of ‘It’s the next week’ [rule]. We just look at it as this is another case. For instance, she was shot in the first episode, and the next episode it was six months later. I imagine if there’s an opportunity to mention her, it would happen, but there’s really been no reason to.” reported by Michael Ausiello

This is the first explanation on Lola's leaving that makes any sense. Thanks so much for posting it.
Finally a reason that makes real sense instead of her just wanting to move home.
So now the story makes more sense.
Ah. Officially cleared up.
I agree w. them not continually referring back to Elle after the first ep in which she was gone. I don't think they do that in any series unless there's a darn good reason. It's just confusing, esp. to new viewers.
Now this article makes sense and the others just seemed very far fetched in my opinion.
Sad to see her go! :(
I agree with y'all, definetly a better explanation.

I hadn't read this statement before and I totally agree with you all.
Hm, mentioning her again wasn't necessary but it wuld have been nice though. ;)

mutual or not, I still wish she'd stuck around. I loved the interaction between her and Shemar. it's getting pretty interesting between Shemar and Pagget, lately, though, so not all is lost.

I was happy in a way and sad in a way to see her go. I didn't like her charactor that much 'cause she was kinda rude but I love Lola! I'm very happy with her replacement though! Emily is sweet and can kick a**:) Can't wait for the new season!!!!!!!!!!! P.S. anyone who agrees that Spencer Reid and Deareck Morgan are HOTT look me up on Facebook as Meagan Wheatley

Interesting though that 4 years later Lola still lives in LA and is now sporting 2 kids, the first born in 2007. I too love Lola, and have not watched an episode since she left.:(
I didn't like Lola's character either, and was glad when she left the show. Her character was a little blah, she had a bad attitude and was very rude!!
I love Lola and Elle Greenaway so much. I'm thinking about givin up watching Criminal Minds now that she's gone..
I've just finished watching the first season and half way through the second - got onto this show in it's 6 th season so I'm going back.
I liked Lola's character...disappointed to see her leave, but I like Paget Brewster's more.
Personally , I would have liked to have seen some references back to Lola's character after she left. For me, that would make for some sort of continuity on the show regarding the characters. Won't lose sleep over it though. My wife and I both love the show. (Wife is in love with Shemar).I've still got about 85 episodes to catch up!!!!!
They should bring her back for an episode as a serial killer. It would fit her since she killed that guy in cold blood, so many other reason as well..
