CRIMINAL MINDS: STILL NO CONTRACT FOR THOMAS GIBSON

Criminal Minds: As we have been posting for months Thomas Gibson still has no contract for season seven. Deadline Hollywood posted an article yesterday about the situation.

From Deadline Hollywood: Exactly one month before CBS' Criminal Minds is scheduled to start production on its upcoming 7th season, there is still no deal for co-star Thomas Gibson. And word is that talks between the actor and CBS have stalled. That is creating an issue for the series' writers who convened at the beginning of last week to break stories and work on scripts for next season. Gibson's character, Supervisory Special Agent Aaron Hotchner, has been key to the show's storylines, so it would be difficult to map out next season without knowing if he will be back.

Alright cool I'm glad we got that cleared up, I just hope CBS looks at these post so they can see how dedicated we are if they dont get our cast back together.

@ PGunn and Anonymous

I've been thinking the same thing too. Good to hear I'm not the only one.

Eleven,
Oh, yes please to JM with some grey, just dishy combined with those gorgeous eyes. He's way too old to have such dark hair.
No, I don't think you're weird. I think the actress who played/plays Strauss is very beautiful and while the character always got/gets my back up I think Jayne Atkinson did/does a great job of playing her.
The reason for all the slashes is because I don't know what will happen to her character next season.

Jessica said...

I agree, the waiting has made us all a little bonkers.

Eleven and Teresa H.,

Add me to the list. I think TG would look dashing with gray in his hair. I also prefer the AJ look of yore when she wasn't so thin. Lastly, I also think Jayne Atkinson is beautiful and plays the role of Strauss to perfection. Another reason to re-sign TG: I would like to continue seeing JA in her role as Strauss.

Sky said...

I think I remember Erica Messer saying Strauss was going to be part of a storyline next season. I like her, too, so I hope they sign TG to his new contract so that I'll still be watching the show and can enjoy watching whatever goes on with her.

I think Joe M looks good with either dark or grey hair. But on TG, I don't want to see any grey. He looks better with the solid dark hair, IMO.

Eleven said...

Now, see, can we just have Hotch back please and get this effing over with? Please, before Leo Messi starts playing footie with my lost marbles, all of them.

Strauss - interesting character and i think the writers can go places with her. The episode where she and hotch have that very interesting convo in S6 (can't remember the name of the epi) suggests that they might be trying to move away from stereotype. Ambivalence is a great thing and with a character one didn't start off by having to make likable (sp?), the bounderies don't exist.

Eleven said...

boundaries* gah, sorry for any other egregious errors. And here i was telling a friend that my editorial hormones just want to do a joyful tango with TG's tweets. Obviously i can't edit my own stuff. Terrible.

Jessica said...

Don't worry about it Eleven, and I've already lost all my marbles so you are in much better shape than I ;)

Maria said...

To those talking about TG's hair:

According to Linda De Andrea, hairdresser and kind person all around, Thomas doesn't dye his hair, he just hasn't a single gray hair yet in his head :D

sf81387 said...

It could simply be because he is older, but i can't imagine him (now) saying that he got coffee in bed for his wife for a month to make up for playing too much golf.

I can see him saying stuff like that today because he does, especially in his chats. Ask him about his acting process though and he'll change the subject very quickly. He does not like to talk about that at all. He does talk pretty freely about his family and home life though. He's cautious to never share pictures of them which is understandable, but he's pretty open otherwise.

Oh, and according to the crew member that does his hair on CM, that is his natural hair color, he doesn't color it, not yet anyway. ; )

Anonymous said...

Sorry but if Thomas does not have a contract by this weekend I don't think he will be back.

sf81387 said...

The owner of this blog shared some pretty positive sounding tweets yesterday so hopefully that means she knows something and that this contract situation is about to be resolved.

Eleven said...

SF, really? But his stubble's grey, that moustache was, too, and i saw a few white strands around the temple in that 'stache pic in MC. Circumastantial evidence though - what do i know and obviously the hair person (who's running her/his hands through tg's hair - gaaawddammit) knows better. And it would be silly of someone to use grey colour just to look his age. Hey, is grey colour available in the market?

Anonymous said...

Sorry but I think you are reading btw the lines for something good to happen. We are all desperate for something. Her tweets could mean anything. I want him back but if he does not sign this weekend I expect him not to come back.

Anonymous said...

perhaps the issue is that the network hasnt actually made a money offer. Perhaps the issue is simply that the network is at a loss over what to offer because they know that they have not followed standard industry practice and renegotiated the actor contracts when the show has become a hit. perhaps the actors on this show are paid half or less than what Michael Weatherly gets paid or Simon Baker or the cast of Big Bang. Perhaps paying Forest Whitaker 150,000 per episode was not worth it. perhaps no one at the network is willing to acknowledge that this show is not actor proof and that it needs the cast that works best. Just saying all this could actually be the case.

I'm really not a read between the lines looking for something good type of person and I assume there are only two reasons why she'd tweet that a petition isn't necessary and that's either because he's about to sign or he's about to walk. Either way, the situation is resolved and everyone can move on. I realize him walking isn't a positive thing, but it's positive in that it ends the madness.

Please let it be good news. Please let it be good new. Please let it be good news. Please let it be good news.

I'll join you in your prayers, Anon above.

heyya said...

Thank you Criminal Minds fan, I'm praying for it to be good news. Fingers crossed!
All the TG, MGG, SM discussion that went on here has me laughing so hard! I can't believe I missed it!
Gugegirl, I'm sure MGG would make a great BF for any girl! He just seems so sweet and is always so nice and gracious to his fans. The entire cast is, that's one of the main reasons I love this show so much. The cast is just incredible. They are amazing actors, and amazing people.
Talent + Kindness = A lethal combination.
I hope it all comes back together beautifully next season.
On a side note, I wouldn't mind seeing Reid sporting some scruff, it will definitely make him look more mature, and give an edgy tone to his personality, not that I have problem with his current look, he looks great clean-shaven too.

Velandra said...

Eleven& Anon: Would it be ok if I joined in too?

Eleven is Dead said...

Absolutely - because i think i'm frozen with dread. The more the merrier and, well, warmer.

Sorry but negotiations stalled and I think he is done negotiating. Not expecting good news at all. HOpe to be wrong but I am expecting bad news.

Winnie Renberger said...

The way they have treated RN and not to mention the fans. I can not watch the show anymore.

They just cast her out like a leper when Paget came back. That is not the way to treat another person.

heyya said...

Why are people starting this again? RN was treated no different that AJC and PB were treated last summer. You should have stopped watching way back then. I'm not saying it's the right thing to do, but at least she wasn't let go for no reason, like AJ and Paget were. She was not working out and was surplus to requirements. They cut their losses. Move on.

CMFAN11 said...

Thanks for minorly relieving my stress criminal minds fan, it's much appreciated. Now hopefully it's good news and my psyche can return back to it's normal state lol

Winnie Renberger said...

Well its hardly the same thing. AJ and Paget is back on the show again. Rachel is not. Now she more then ever just looked like a replacement that had to be cast out like a leper when Paget returned.

That is wrong in every sense and gives the show a bad reputation. That i will not support.

Eleven said...

I feel like Daffy being tortured by BB - i don't think we can ever be 'normal' again after what we've been put through for a year now. Needless trauma and i know the more sensible among us know how to walk away or not let it affect them, but some of us are not sensible are we.

Sergio the Cat said...

*licks paws and looks around*

*pees on CBS building in protest*

We can haz contract for mai buddi Thomas nao plz??

*purrs and rubs against TG's legs*

Criminal Minds Fan said...

Let me clarify what I said earlier.

According to Erica Messer the actors are reporting back to work on July 6th.

Obviously we will hear something one way or another soon.

If it is good news then YAY. If it bad news then I then it is up to everyone to make their own minds up as to whether they will continue to watch the show.

Getting upset and being rude with each other doesn't help Thomas!

gubegirl said...

heyva, sweetie: Walk away. Don't respond, just walk away.

Now, my mantra for the morning: Hail Mary, full of grace, please let TG return to CM...

Have a good AM! And don't forget to listen to music!

Velandra said...

Winnie: so its ok for AJ/PB to be treated like that b/c they were asked back but it's not ok for RN ? that really doesn't make much sense to me. Also she wasn't cast out like a leper as heyya stated her character wasn't working out and 8 regulars would be to many. AJ has been on the CM since ep. 2 and PB since S2 RN was on for 13 eps. So forgive me if I don't look at it the same way.
Keeping my fingers crossed for good news on TG

Velandra said...

Sorry CMFan I guess we are all just a lil bit stressed and on the edge of our seats. Your right us getting rude and upset won't help anything. Thanks for everything you do.

Velandra said...

Gubegirl: I tried the music thing but found myself gravitating towards The Cure's Pornography album and Bauhaus not exactly uplifting music. Any suggestions? anything to take my mind off the TG situation would be greatly appreciated I feel like I'm going crazyyyyyyy!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Simple evidence he is coming back. If he was not coming back why would Jill even tweet Happy Thursday. I doubt it would be happy if he was not coming back. Also I doubt Thomas would tweet his shoes if he was not coming back. He probably be staying quiet. Of course I could be kicking my ass later today.

Miranda said...

I like the song The Middle by Jimmy Eat World :)

@ anonymous

I hope your right. As of now I'm praying right along w/ everyone else that he does and we hear good news.

gubegirl said...

Velandra: Adele's new CD is AMAZING (poor thing has laryngitis so bad had to cancel her tour date all week - inc. here in S.D. last nite:( but if you can't get your hands on that, then crank up the best FM station in your area and enjoy. And don't be afraid to get up and do a few dance moves when a good song comes on: I couldn't stay in my seat yesterday when "It's My Life" by Talk, Talk came on - I am an 80's freak. But, hey if Blimey can do Depeche Mode at midnite, I say go for whatever moves you! Hey, if Morgan were with you, he would be right there on the dance floor with you (like a cat-LOL.)
Picture in your mind's eye: the opening credits with TG's coming on last, new updated photos along with the music that makes us leap from whatever we are doing to park it in front of the TV for the next hour- Minus popcorn and potty breaks. Allow yourself the glass of wine (Bailey's or equiv if it's cold where you are) during the last commercial so you are ready for the end but too sleepy thruout the show.) I get up early so must over-indulge altho I have to say, I have fallen asleep in front of many shows but never CM!

Keep that visual in your head whenever you think of it, all day, and the power of positive thinking will bring to fruition! Works for me!

Anonymous said...

Jill please expand on your comment? Does news soon mean Today or sometime this week. Don't want to wait at my computer all day.

gubegirl said...

that would be NOT over indulge of course.

Anonymous said...

There is a lot more to a contract than money. I seriously think if this was just about money this deal would have been done weeks ago. I think there are lots of other things to work out. CBS better realize the importance of Thomas/Hotch to this show. I simply won't watch without him. Please do the right thing. Otherwise your ratings will go down and fast, and the show will tank.
If there is a deal signed, I do sincerely hope it is in the best interest of Thomas.

Velandra said...

Gubegirl & Miranda: Thanks for the suggestions. I remember when the middle first came out i used to love that song.... still do. Gubegirl I have never heard of Adele but as I'm always open to new music I gave her a listen. She has the most beautiful voice. Still anxiously awaiting news ..... Hopefully good :)

Ha! I'm early tonight - it's approaching 9.45 AND it's still light outside. Shame it's bloody freezing! Fifth wash-out so-called summer in a row by the looks of it. Roll on Death Valley!

Oooooh, Talk Talk - their Greatest Hits CD might have to find its way into the Limeymobile tomorrow. I remember the 1990-ish re-issue of "It's my life" but not the original release.
(Felt like a proper cougar a few years back when the bloke I was associating with at the time could only remember the No Doubt cover version - oops...)

I saw that photo of TG with the chinny whiskers - not a good look. Rather trampish (tramp as in homeless person who drinks meths from a bottle in a brown paper bag, not the US meaning! Haha!) although the moustache on its own was fabulous in a sleazy geezer type of way. He still needs fattening up though.

Why is it men with a bit of grey hair get called distinguished, yet us ladies are expected to colour our hair? I'm dreading going grey, my hair's the same colour as TG's & PB's so those naughty little strands are really going to stand out!

I'd also agree JM looks way better without the Grecian 2000 dyed look. My Dad's got the same colouring (including the olive skin and dark brown eyes) and greying hair suits him - old photos where it was jet black look really severe, even though it's natural. Weird?

@ Gubegirl:
I love cooking and baking, especially cakes and such like. Apparently, because of this, I'd make a good wife (according to the married men at work!) but I have a few more things I want to do (two big roadtrips, finish the books I'm attempting to write, home improvements) before I even think about settling down and churning out the Grandbabies. Two more years of freedom for me, minimum!

Blimey Limey said...

You also want to hack up a hairball on the CBS doormat, like my Garfield clone likes to do circa 4am.

WOW…Reading through all this was like a bit of a frenzied roller coaster ride. All the pics on the guys are great. My daughter swears I have more pics of TG than I do of my own grandchildren, totally not true btw but I’m not going to let her do an audit.

I like a man with a little bit of stubble, the pic TG tweeted was a bit WTH, but the other pics of him walking around MC with his stache,I thought he was looking good. No gray hairs, geez that’s nice. I haven’t seen my natural color since ’92.

I’m keeping good thoughts for Thomas, I hope everything goes the way he needs it go. For me, I’ll be sending out good vibes and visualizing very happy tweets, TG’s GOT A DEAL Deadline news story, CM Opening Credits with the MAGNIFICENT SEVEN!!!, Garcia’s happy face when Hotch walks back into the office…Only POSITIVES!!!

I wotk with a couple of French blokes - they understand me OK but comment on the problems I mentioned.

Your English is excellent, btw. If you hadn't mentioned it not being your first language I'd never have noticed!

I'm hoping that TG knows he's coming back and is losing weight as part of a side story on Hotch's stress and after-effects of the Foyet arc. :P

Love, love, love him enough to urge him to EAT. :)

And, just to repeat: No Hotch, no watch. No TG, no CM for me.

I am not proud about how some of the fans behaved toward RN.
Civilized people should not behave like that.It leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It puts a dark spot on the CM fandom and they have always been friendly but this was just cruel. It is probably why she got fired from CM.
I think those contributing to it should also have a bad taste in their mouths.

@syd:

Merci, merci! Love all those cute pictures: they look like they're having fun together, TG and MGG.

Checked out our TWO skinny guys and I would have to say that TG is rivaling le docteur Reid in thin-ness. WTH? What would you say, Syd? Sacre Bleu? or something like that. I barely remember my HS French. Don't ask me how many years back that was. I can remember seulement un peu like "voulez vous" and "que est ce?" and I'm sure I'm not even spelling these right so forgive for massacring you beautiful language.

Anyway, Blimey: can't you get over there or work with Syd on the phone to get our guys some much-needed fat pills? i.e., some Earthquake Cake! These guys are disappearing before our very eyes and at the rate their substance is diminishing, there won't be enuf of them for even a couple of us, let alone Eleven, Velandra, Pat, heyva, mfj1311 and all the others are lying here in wait to eat these guys alive...well, at least kill them with kisses. Which may be a dirty job what with white whiskers and hair on the normally facial- hairless ones - but, hey, we are up for it. We're tough; we're CM fanatics & we'll pull out all the stops, and do whatever it takes to bring the crew back in its entirety. Heck, if they have the strength to make it back here, we will having them begging for mercy and to resume their acting jobs, like STAT!

OK, OK, I really must go and get some work done.

Ha! Haven't been to France since I was 14 (zut alors!) - even though I used to live close enough to the Channel for a day's booze cruise! These days I usually fly over it on the way to Germany/Austria/Switzerland (my spiritual homes).

I agree, TG looks waaaaaay too skinny on those photos Syd posted the link to. Wonder what all that's about - and if he could share his secret? I need to make room for those massive cinnabon rolls NEXT MONTH (**flaps with excitement at the prospect of hot sunshine**) so am currently on a health kick.

Damn the lure of the ingredients for EC lurking in my cupboards/fridge...

To Blimey, thanks for the compliment, I appreciate, btw, i watched CM every week in English, with one day gap. It's a good start!

I read this blog everyday and love your comments, it's great to take some times to read people who love the show, i feel lonely in France.

If you need some info about the webside I can do that! Great that you understand French Blimey! It's a difficult language to learn to!

BTW, i read some news from some media here (in france), and for example that TG plays golf in MC at the same time of the festival.

Yesterday, he called SM during his interview, and spoke to him and with fans...

Like we said in French : "du délire"

Some journalist explain that they were both great (TG and MGG)

To Gubegirl, I agree, it seems that TG lost a lot of weight, and rivaling with MGG, a piece of cake perhaps? Love your fun about the cake! :o)

And at your question, what would you say in french, I said "Oh mon Dieu" ( Oh my god) and your writing is just right, just one fault, you remembered your french very well.

You said you get some work to do... Here, i have some sleep to keep, It's late (1 am)

See you tomorrow!

My need is greatest - I need some sun, I look like a corpse.

@ Syd:
Seriously, my French isn't too bad (I can cope), but there's no way I could manage on a French version of this blog. You're doing a très bien job here! Glad you watch CM in English as a lot gets lost in translation (according to the French folks I work with & a friend's husband whose first language is German).

@ Sergio the Cat:
For you efforts treat yourself to one of those compressed catnip balls from Walmart. I bought one for my Garfield clone last summer and he still goes mad for it.

Loved MGG's ghost story - I love any of that spooky stuff, despite having a scientific background.

Reminds me of when my friends & I got our driver's licenses and used to drive along Gracious Lane & the A21 in Kent (the bit that sticks out below London) looking for the phantom road which is supposed to cause people to swerve off the road to their deaths! If you're ever in the London area (bleugh!), Chistlehurst ("Chizzlehurst") Caves is great for some serious heebie jeebies too.

If I get hit by a bus tomorrow I'm going to come back as a poltergeist and cause havoc in the CBS offices!!

Some news from MC, a small interview for a magazine!

AlloCiné: will you Be back in season 7?

Thomas Gibson: we will see. I hope to be there. We are working on it. I want to return in any case.

AlloCiné : Could the season 7 begin without Hotch?

Thomas Gibson : Nobody wants it. People like speculating, let's them do it...

As far as i read this, it's obvious for me that the whole thing about the contracts is a story for the fans nerves and that the cliffhanger in and on screen is just to glue us to the show,

Hope i'm right, really...

He has enuf hair for both of us, don't you think? We could simultaneously give him a scalp massage (maybe take turns??) for one of his "horrific" headaches and wouldn't he just love us for it?

Damn, I wish we would hear something - it's Friday again and I can't stand it! If we couldn't come here to visit, I would be drinking already and it is only 2 PM.

Not sure if I can post the link to this article here but here goes http://www.tvguide.com/News/Thomas-Gibson-Criminal-Minds-1034111.aspx
I don't know what happened but Thomas went from Hopeful to I am not sure I will be back. I am not sure when they did this interview. I guess today so I guess something bad happened in the negotiations after being stalled. Not liking this

Velandra said...

Anon: thanks for the link but now I'm even more nervous than before. TG isn't sure he'll be back????? NO say it isn't true. This is the first time he's said something that definite. It's usually the vague I want to come back or I'm hopeful.... At least that gave us hope. Maybe false hope but at least it was something. We can't lose Hotch.....

He seemed more hopeful when negotiations were stalled. Seems wrong.

It would seem that Mr. Gibson is holding out for something really important to him. I know that many have gotten used to the fact that he commutes from TEXAS to LA but I don't think it's as easy to do as he has made it sound. I know for myself, just having to put my kid into daycare recently makes me so sad. And that's only during the day. Can you imagine having your entire family in a completely different STATE for the WEEK? That's a huge sacrifice IMO.

I don't know if Caruso or Fishburne had to deal with that. TG may not have the film credits that Fishburne has. Or the critic acclaim that Caruso has. But IMO, he is more talented than both, has to sacrifice more than most actors, and has contributed more to CBS than either of those two. Look at Forest Whitaker. Oscar winner. But could not carry CM:SB. TG was the anchor after Patinkin bailed. TG is part of this special cast that makes MILLIONS of viewers tune in AGAINST The ratings beast that is American Idol. For the producers and CBS not to give TG the deal that would make him stay would be bad for the show IMO.

But, I wish Mr. Gibson all the best in his decision whether he would like to stay or not. VIVA EL GIBSONIO FROM SAN ANTONIO!

Hopefully TG will get whatever he needs and/or wants from CBS to come back to CM next season Sergie the Cat but like you I wish him well in whatever he decides...

Sergie the Cat...sorry to hear that you can't travel to MC because of lack of funds (I know the feeling) but I will travel with you in the cargo hold of a plane if we can find someone to ship us and provide us with some earthquake cake. : )

CMFAN11 said...

Gosh I hope this is just a publicity stunt to get HUGE ratings for the season premiere. I really hope CBS wouldn't be that stupid 2 make the same mistake twice.

Also if it turns out that hotch doesn't return, although hopefully he does, this is just my personal opinion and although I think it's awesome we can't rally for our cast like we can but I think it would be wrong to not watch if one character doesn't return (even if he's blatantly crucial to S7 CBS!) because afterall the show still has the rest of the hard working cast & crew that in my opinion shouldn't lose their job if fate has it that one actor doesn't return.

I realize that hotch is crucial 2 season 7, but as much as I want the cast back together, I love CM way 2 much if one actor decides 2 leave. Now obviously we're all CM fanatics and entitled to our own opinion but I thought that I'd just take the time to offer another point of view and play the devils advocate.

I'm not out to offend anyone, so don't jump on me guys lol at this point I've made peace w/ the fact he may not come back, although in the back of my mind I'm hoping I'm wrong.

OK, Sergio and cuterugrat: If I overnite an earthquake cake to you two, do you think you can manage to use some of it to bribe the airline authorities to let you into the luggage hold (or wherever) and get your sweet selves over to MC to get the scoop? You must not only succeed at that but also to promise to save abit of cake for Thomas so that you can use it to coerce him to sign his contract.

Tell me you can do this and I promise I will stay up tonite to make the best earthquake cake...I will even add Blimey's optional choc. chips. Now you must get back to me before bedtime which, PST would be 11 PM.

I wouldn't get too worried by the tv guide interview you linked. The article didn't quote TG when they said he wasn't sure to be back. They paraphrased. That's just a case of wording. TG was quoted saying "We're working toward Agent Hotchner being back," and he mentions that it's "Yet another cliff-hanger." I don't read from all this that the situation is worse than before. And even if TG said verbatim that he's not sure if he'll be back, IMO that's just a variation of "I want to" or "I'm hopeful". Both statements imply always a certain insecurity. And that's what makes us all freak so much at the moment. Oh the wait. *sigh*

@CBS/ABC: NO HOTCH/ NO WATCH
NO HOTCH/TG - NO CM FOR ME

I agree that if a person is going to discontinue watching CM in protest of TG leaving it would be counterproductive and in essence only possibly hurting those who still have their jobs and want to keep them. However, if a person simply cannot enjoy the show any longer without the Hotch character then they should most definitely stop watching and find something else to fill their television screen with.

For me personally, I cannot enjoy CM without Hotch so I will be tuning out if he doesn't return. It's not about throwing a tantrum and refusing to watch any longer if I don't get my way, it's simply about not finding the show enjoyable any longer and therefore tuning out.

I do not enjoy the episodes from Season 5 where Morgan was Unit Chief. It had nothing to do with Morgan, I like Morgan just fine. It had to do with what feels right and to me it felt disjointed or off balance without Hotch at the helm. He was still in those episodes and I can't enjoy them. Him being gone for good and someone else attempting to do his job would be my worst nightmare.

I thought with JJ gone the show felt off balance and I absolutely hated every single scene with Garcia....well, not being Garcia. The Prentiss loss didn't really affect the balance much for me because she never really had a specific role like JJ does or like Garcia does or like Hotch does.

I've been watching this show since the pilot aired and I can't imagine it without Hotch and I won't be tuning in if that's the case. I stopped watching CSI when William Peterson left and I'd stop watching NCIS if Gibbs left. Hotch is their leader, he's the centerpiece of the ensemble. It wouldn't be the same show without him, not for me anyway.

I wouldn't fret too much over the show's demise should TG not return though. It's a crime procedural with 14 million viewers, the majority of which who probably tune in to see the psycho of the week and aren't all that concerned about who is playing the FBI agents catching them. I doubt you'd get very many fans tuning out in protest and I suspect the show would go on just fine without Thomas Gibson.

I would not stop watching CM as a protest. I have a hard time imagining it without Hotch but I would be willing to try it out and see how the writers do. I did not watch the spinoff and that was mostly because I couldn't bear to watch Forrest W. almost on the verge of tears all the time.
You guys with the EC are having way too much fun, I have to get in on it. I'm not a great baker, too much attn. to detail for me, but I have to try out this recipe

CMFAN11 said...

You make a very good point sf,

Honestly it'd be hard for me also to like CM without hotch, and also I agree with hotch being the centerpiece and leader. I was just seeing how most fans (on this post and news articles comment boards how they won't watch without him). I was merely offering a different point of view.

BTW: thank you for being polite and not jumping on me. Also you made such good points that I 2 may not watch w/o hotch.

At the same time tho, I'm really just hoping this is good PR for the show for season 7 and 2 have good ratings for the premiere.

Ok, someone please wake me up from the Twilight Zone when or if this is all settled and ALL SEVEN of our team is back together, please!
As a fan who is coming close to calling herself a former one, I have really had it up to here and then some with feeling like this past godawful nightmare of events from season 6 were a waste of investment and getting upset with losing our beloved characters for nothing! My patience has just about run out.I used to enjoy this show, now the soap drama of what is going on offscreen takes all that away, and frankly my forgiveness is wearing very very thin here folks.
It is NOT rocket science CBS, figure it out.We simply wanted things left alone, can't someone figure out that simple concept?

I do not know if CBS/ABC will read this blog posting, but just in case I thought I would post it. I was feeling positive about the contract negotiations until I saw the TV Guide interview where Thomas Gibson stated that he is not certain he is returning to the show next fall. I am shocked, disillusioned, and sad since I was feeling confident that something would be worked out between CBS/ABC studios and Gibson. Although I have watched Criminal Minds since the first season and support the other characters, I cannot imagine watching the show if Gibson does not return. Aaron Hotchner is my favorite character on the show. I feel that there were so many stories yet to tell concerning the Hotch character. Yes, ALL the characters are essential to the show, but Aaron Hotchner was the team leader, and I cannot imagine the show without him. In many recent interviews, Gibson clearly stated that he wanted to return to the show for season 7, and I fear that something has gone terribly wrong in the negotiation talks. I respectfully ask CBS/ABC studios and Thomas Gibson to find some common ground and negotiate a fair contract. If Gibson does not return, I unfortunately will NEVER watch Criminal Minds again or any other show on CBS. Please CBS/ABC studios make the right decision soon. Listen to the fans!

@gubegirl

Nope, no hubby, just me and my cat who pretty much runs the place. I do cook very easy things and I have many take out places on speed dial.

I could have used that cell. I was good, or thought I was, until I got to the icing sugar mixture. It got all lumpy so I tried to put it through a strainer. Bad idea with something so sticky so it took me forever to work as much as I could out. Things never go easily for me. Now you know why I stay out of the kitchen. I shall leave providing the EC to you and BL. I'd chip in for the ingredients.

I wonder what the sticking points are in the contract. If it's something like TG wanting time off to attend golf tournaments or something like he did last season, CBS might site the fact that the viewing audience went ballistic because of it. Or if he's asking to work less days a week so he can get home to Texas and they're countering with the fact that the audience is already complaining he's not in the eps enough. Since they jacked up SM's salary, I'd think they'd be as willing to jack up TG's. Now perhaps that's not enough to satisfy TG. We have no way of knowing that.

I'd like to believe it's just a tactic to keep the audience in suspense for the next season, although if TG shows up on the CM set come start of production, then it won't be much of a surprise come September.

Andrea said...

I simply cannot believe for Thomas Gibson that it shall not be possible to have this damned contract signed and sealed! ONLY HE ALONE IS THE REASON WHY I WATCH CRIMINAL MINDS. It makes me really furious, that CBS plays with the most important team member of CM. Is it still not clear that not only I will not see any series more of CM, if Thomas Gibson is gone?
How loudly do his fans have to protest still? When does CBS finally understand that CM survives only WITH Thomas Gibson? Please, sign this contract!

Apologies in advance if this comes across as a load of **insert appropriate adjective** because my parents are visiting for the weekend and I've been supping sherry with my Mum!!!

And on an empty stomach.

And I'm a complete lightweight since I reached the wrong side of 30 (oh, for my university days...).

Oh dear.

@ Syd:
Merci beaucoup pour votre ... erm... link! I understood about 75% of it and could pretty much fill in the rest based on what I understood. I quite enjoyed translating it to myself (geeeeeeek) - even if it took me nearly twenty minutes. Like I said, I'm not too bad on my (admittedly slow) French reading but I have no confidence in speaking the language. There's another work trip to Paris next month - am now vaguely tempted to speak to the department involved and see if I can get a place on it as they've asked me in the past. Hmmmm.

@ Pat:
The icing sugar mixture... I melt the cream cheese & butter together in a pan and once that's soft I add the icing sugar a bit at a time and stir it in. If you add it all at once your kitchen ends up looking like an Icelandic ash cloud!
I also agree with what you theorise about why TG hasn't signed a new contract (yet?). If SM's wages were doubled than money doesn't seem to be an issue (unless TG is demanding Charlie Sheen's surplus, but he doesn't come across as an @r$e like that). I'd also assume/agree that it's more likely to be about family time and/or opportunities behind the scenes (e.g. production - if he wants to get into that) than about the $$$ - of which I now have a nice big fistful - ooooh yeah.
Also, same here - no husband (avoiding getting one of those for at least another 2-3 years!), just a rude cat - unlike our Sergio - who thinks he owns the house. Wish he'd pay the bloody mortgage though!

@ sf81387:
As usual you summed up things nicely in that longer post you did. In a nutshell, "CM sans TG" wouldn't be good!
However, I'm pretty much certain I'd still watch if there was no Hotch, in the same way I carried on with CSI minus Grissom (and Warrick - definite eye candy loss there!) although I prefer the earlier ones generally these days.

@ Gubegirl:
The only way I'd accept a marriage proposal before 2013 is if he looks like SM on that beach, does all the housework & gardening AND cooks better than me (if that's possible). I'm not picky, honest!

@ Velandra:
Ooooh, Suede. Tunes from my moody 17-year-old (ish) days. Can't beat a bit of "Animal Nitrate."

Yeah, I think I need to slope off and locate a nice cup of tea to neutralise the sherry...

Blimey, Pumpkin loaf sounds yummy. I have a great recipe for pumpkin-pecan scones (that would be pronounced SCONNS) with cream cheese icing that we love in the fall when it is chilly to have with our coffee.

Velandra: Good on you for tackling the EC! Hope you liked it but try not to get everyone in your life hooked on it or you will be beleaguered by needy hangers-on not unlike Blimey's gannets!

Pat: Don't feel bad, GF, just find out when/where Blimey gets her future hubbie and ask him if he has a friend that went to the same "school" as Blimey's guy:)

4cuterugrats: If you're traveling just up the coast here, I will most certainly make myself avail for the EC delivery esp if we are providing it to MGG. I will bring enuf for TG but you must allow ME to handfeed it to His Geekness. You and Sergio can feed TG and hang close to catch the crumbs from each, but if MGG is still sporting facial hair, I will catch those crumbs, of course. It would only be right, if I bake the cake, for me to clean him up after, don't you agree? You and Sergio can man the video-cam. Sigh...

It might be an idea to invite Pat along so she can see what a successfully baked EC looks and tastes like and she can bring her cat along to be a partner for the Serg?

And Theresa: get yourself to the grocery store, woman, and get crackin' on that cake and you will see what we're talking about. Plus you will be a hit with your family. I would suggest that you get to dine out twice this week, easy, for baking this special dessert for your family. Such a deal.

The Sunday Night Stalker (a new unsub for season 7?) has returned...

Despite the fact we won't get put out of our collective misery either way until they're back in the US, it doesn't stop me tuning in - ever hopeful (desperate?!) for good news of impending Hotchalanches next season.

I wonder to what extent it's affecting the writers? Coming up with cases shouldn't be too much trouble, it's the subplots involving Prentiss coming back from the dead and Hotch & JJ knowing which is going to be a "problem".

Worst case scenario - TG doesn't sign by the time they start filming. Is that The End Of Hotch, or would negotiations still continue and if they agree would Hotch suddenly reappear later on, having been - erm, somewhere else? Obviously none of us would want it to come to that, but what could happen if it did? I think that makes sense?

Okay folks, the tea doesn't stop the rain (as this afternoon will testify) but the rest is true!

Needed the rest of the sherry (but didn't!) after spending HOURS today transferring files from my "soon to be recalled by work laptop" to my "shiny, new and ALL MINE laptop" - as well as converting the Word domuments from 2003 to 2010. My brain is fried. The gannets will have to wait for EC, no time for baking today. I'll dig out the pumpkin cake recipe, you'll be pleased to know it's measured in cups!

Also, I'll have to add "Domestic God" to (a long while in the) future hubby's checklist. That rules out English blokes! ;-))

I wouldn't stick around to see how it played out. I'm so annoyed and frustrated with the B.S. going on now that I won't even watch the reruns anymore. I think they've managed to ruin whatever enjoyment I used to get from this show with all the BTS drama and I'm not even sure I care anymore or if I'll bother to watch any longer regardless of who is there.

It's already shaping up to be another stupid, choppy season of nonsense because now they have to bring two characters back and still tell a story every week while they do it and the guy who should be in the middle of all of that ridiculous drama may or may not be back.

How do the writers even begin to write the first episode with the big ugly cloud of Hotch doom hanging over them and keeping them from bringing JJ back into the fold in a manner that doesn't play out as pathetic and stupid as that one scene in the finale did?

What? Rossi is just going to bring JJ back while Strauss and Hotch are off doing God knows what and have left nobody in charge? It doesn't really matter what they do because it should be Hotch who is bringing her back. He's the one that said he would and he is the one JJ has always had the close relationship with, which is why that final scene was supposed to be between Hotch and JJ and why that final scene was so bad when it was Rossi instead. Do we really want to see 4 or 5 episodes of contrived B.S. because an actor and the network couldn't come to some sort of resolution in a reasonable amount of time?

I feel bad for the writers. The writing on this show has been in decline for the last two seasons and now they've got a new showrunner who is eager to remedy that and how can she when she's being held in limbo over some stupid, pathetic contract negotiation that should've been resolved one way or another a month ago.

So needless to say, I'm not interested in a partial Hotch season. Either come back now or just get on down the road and let the show go on without him.

It boggles my mind that CBS has not learned by now that with this show, and this fandom, getting rid of cast members will not be accepted. No replacement that they think of will be accepted. An almost-restored team minus Hotch will not be accepted. In fact, having the ladies back could make it worse, only highlighting the fact that the only one missing would be Hotch.

I no haz anyfink else new to say on the izzue. Bottom line foar me: no Hotch, no moar CM for Sergio.

I am having a hard time believing that AJ and Paget would even consider returning unless they felt confident that TG was returning, so I am inclined to place the blame on these so-called "stalled" negotiations on CBS. While I am sure there are never any guarantees, he has been around the block long enuf, and been the center of the show the majority of the time, to have a feel for whether or not TPTB would work with/accept his requests or requirements and I have little doubt that AJ and PB did not discuss this with him prior to agreeing to return. They must know, as we do, there is little chance of the show succeeding without him; that's how I feel anyway, apart from my love of SM & MGG, they are not Hotch. We need all the players or it is not going to work and now we have all but the main guy.

Geez. How did things ever get so screwed up? I feel bad for the writers, too, as sf81387 just said, they are less experienced than the original veterans, are trying to overcome all the crap from season 6 which we would like to dismiss as a bad dream, the cast shake-ups and now this? Not even a change here for sure...just lots of uncertainty. HTH can they do they jobs?

I'm very disappointed and have tried to humor myself and the rest of you with other topics but it's beginning to get to me and after just seeing "Revelations" again, the entire situ frankly, leaves me depressed and feeling far less hopeful than I was. And I am the eternal optimistic. But I am also realistic and this is becoming too drawn out to be good...I am def beginning to lose hope. Damn. I guess my Hail Mary's are going unheeded or should we pray even harder?

It's interesting to wathch those various short videos of interviews with TG from Monte Carlo. In some of them he's being "no comment" like about the negotiations and in others he's talking about how Hotch could be developed next season.
Have no idea what it all means.

Gubegirl: it was absolutely delicious! My husband was in shock that I made something so tasty! I understand now why Blimey has people chasing her down the street just for a taste...lol. Not good for the diet ( just lost the last of the baby weight) def. worth it though.
TG might not have any grey hairs but I certainly will by the end of all this!

I couldn't agree more sf81387, this is getting RIDICULOUS. I mean seriously the show shouldn't be in this much limbo less than a month before the extorts are supposed to report back.

I feel as tho the season might already be ruined bc of all this BS! Someone budge!

Gubegirl: I also agree I doubt the girls would've agreed 2 return if TG wasn't. Surely they must know something. They are a family off screen as well.

I just hope we get positive news soon. Or at least news as the blogowner told us. I just hope it's soon enough for the writers to save S7.

Hiya my friends, how've you been? I see nothing's happened, yet again, one way or another....

TG's recent MC interviews were lovely. Maybe we should get him out of the States more often ;0) Loved the one where he talks about fans treating you like family and that Hotch needs someone to talk to, to decompress and whether they could get someone to play that part. Just too interesting to never be able to explore them.

Please, please don’t give into anger or depression, I feel your pain, I really do. I’ve cried and thrown M&M’s at the TV screen (really did during 25 to Life) and I’ve railed at some of the interviews, but all this was just frustrating me to the point of losing sleep, missing out on smiles and creating a very warped sense of life in general.

CM will not be worth watching for me if Hotch is not there and I’ll miss it.

But I’ll NEVER stop enjoying my CM DVD’s, or that I found this blog, TG’s tweets, or the few TG’s chats I was able to participate in, or TG’s pics, collected autographed items, being able to meet Kirsten, and I’ll even continue to enjoy those ION commercials that play over and over during reruns, because when Thomas says “Don’t Move, Criminal Minds will be right back.” it makes me SMILE!! And I plan to continue to SMILE no matter what decision is made because I’m going to know that it was what Thomas chose to be best for him. There is no doubt in my mind that an actor can give in and take what is offered or they can stand firm knowing that what is offered is not worthy of their signature. That’s his choice. (Doesn’t mean that I’ll not enjoy that CBS/ABC made the worst BLUNDER of a decision on their part.)

At this point I continue to THINK POSITIVE, to believe that Thomas does want to return to CM and that an agreeable contract will be worked out. I will continue to look forward to September for the Season 6 DVD release, because there are enough episodes in there that I’ll enjoy watching over and over and I’ll continue to look forward to the premiere of CM which will include all of the wonderful characters I’ve come to love over the past few years. Keep smiling!

It's already shaping up to be another stupid, choppy season of nonsense because now they have to bring two characters back and still tell a story every week while they do it and the guy who should be in the middle of all of that ridiculous drama may or may not be back.

Frankly, I've already resigned myself to the idea that the first half of s7 may be as underwhelming as most of s6. Even if Hotch is there, they'll still have to come up with contrivances and contortions to explain why JJ and Prentiss are back, especially given the circumstances of their exits and the supposed budget cuts affecting the unit. Tbh, I don't want to see any of that, including the drama surrounding Prentiss" faked death.

Also, I've seen reports that contract negotiations for JM and MGG may be playing out during s7. Does this mean we can look forward to more BTS stuff creeping into the character storylines?

Seriously, this show needs to get back to focusing on interesting, compelling cases with occasional character moments woven into the narrative.

As for the contract situation, I won't be watching the show if TG doesn't return. However, I'm not assigning blame at this point either because I don't know what either side is asking for. If it's truly a stalemate, I guess each side is waiting for the other to blink (as in make some type of concession).

Velandra said...

I agree w/ anon. And many others that have posted. While I still have hope that TG will be back I'm sick of the BTSD dictating how each week plays out. We all saw how well that worked last season. I really don't want to see all the storyline drama of bringing back Prentiss and JJ. I think the best way to go would be the dream sequence that others here have mentioned a few times. That way none of this would have taken place we can skip all the drama and get back to solving cases. It feels CM has become about the drama at the BAU w/ some profiling thrown in not vice versa. I just hope we don't have to go through all this again this season I'm not sure I could handle it. I still have hope however misplaced it may be that everything will work out and S7 will be amazing.

CMFAN11 said...

What's really sad is CBS/CM producers could've avoided this whole mess completely if they would've never had a stupid spin off that sucked or let paget & aj go.

Honestly, as much as I love criminal minds it seriously needs to get back on it's feet this next season and quit with all this BS off camera. I've had enough!

I also think a dream sequence might be ok at this point eventhough I've been waiting for months to see emily or the team get doyle.

THANKS CBS! PLEASE GO MESS WITH ALL YOUR FREAKIN CSI'S AND LEAVE OUR SHOW ALONE! ughhhh

CMFAN11 said...

I'd also like 2 add, go look at the blogowners tweet from last night.

On a positive note negotiations are still undergoing, but there is still time for an agreement to be reached.

Soon, hopefully lol

LunaM said...

I find the fact that they are still negotiating very positive too. Of course it would be much more positive if the contract was already signed, but as long as they negotiate, hope is not lost. Also I think TG is still in Europe. Therefore he can't sign at the moment. But I hope we'll hear definite news until the end of the week. Then we'll know and can either celebrate the return of our team in season 7 or deal with the kmowledge.

NO HOTCH/NO WATCH

NO HOTCH/TG - NO CM FOR ME

(Just my daily mantra ;-) )

Teresa H. said...

Just watched a long 15/17mins of interview with MGG and TG. You can probably Google it or find it on YouTube. Don't want to break the rules here by saying exactly where I found it.
It's in French and the questions are not translated so you just have to guess at what they are. Mind you, judging by the answers they're the same old same old which are trotted out every time. I would get so fed up and would be so hard pressed to look and sound interested. But our lovely guys were their usual charming selves.
Perhaps not the most articulate but as I said they seemed to be getting the same stock questions as always and there is only so much you can do with that. Not a mention of the contract negotiations. It was almost as if that were a taboo topic.
It was just fun to catch more than a fleeting glimpse of them with a sound bite or two thrown in.

Abigail said...

I'll chime in and keep the broken record running by saying how absolutely pathteic it is that contract negotiations have gone on for as long as they have considering that the actors are due back on set July 6th. Yes, contract negotiations can sometimes come down to the wire but with reports stating that a wall has been hit in the negotiations, it seems like there may be one (or maybe more than one) sticking point that neither side is willing to bend on, leaving the writers and the fans in the lurch. How can anyone reasonably expect the showrunner and the writers to piece together episodes that are good without knowing if one of the main characters, a central player in one of the most pressing storylines, is going to come back? This is just ridiculous on both sides. I say both sides because we really don't know what the hold- up is here and so to assign blame to only one side is not fair. Just as the network isn't blinking, neither is Thomas Gibson. It could very well be that whatever is holding up the contract is something that Thomas Gibson should absolutely hold his ground on, even to the point where he decides not to return. On the other hand, giving into whatever it is that Thomas Gibson may be asking for may set a bad precedent for the network being that next season they head into negotiations with Joe Mantenga and Matthew Gray Gubler. There may also exist, as brought up on a different forum, that Paget Brewster will be in negotiations at the end of next season if the option the network exercised is only good for this season. In that case, Paget may walk, or she may agree to get into negotiations with the network at which point whatever Thomas Gibson got in his deal will play a central role in what she, Joe Mantenga, and Matthew Gray Gubler will come to the table asking for, assuming of course that Thomas Gibson returns.

I can't imagine what type of scripts are being cooked up over at Criminal Minds. I'm guessing that maybe they are drafting two sets of scripts; one with Thomas Gibson, the other without. If this is indeed what is happening, that is taking creative energy away from trying to shape up and move past the mess that was season 6. I too wish that we could enter into season 7 as if season 6 were just some bad dream one of the characters was having, leaving the field wide open to return to the once good crime drama that every so often showed us glimpses of the characters lives, interspersed with some nice team interaction. Today, it is a crippled mess suffering from lackluster writing and enough behind the scenes drama to choke the life out of anything good it may produce.

I agree, Abigail

This is ruining the show. Especially since after S7 all this drama will pick up again w/ paget, JM, and MGG.

I'm tired of this. It needs to just go back to normal and CEASE with this craziness.

If this keeps up and the show doesn't get it toegther then I wouldn't be suprised if CBS decided to cancel it after S7 if this doesn't stop. As terrible as this sounds the sad fact is that it's days could be numbered if some stability doesn't surface soon

If all of this drama continues, along with the decreased quality in the writing, there may not be a season 8.

My stalking this blog isn't paying off. Perhaps I'm the Jonah? ;-))

@ sf81387:
I know what you mean, it's getting to that stage where I'm wishing it was definitely sorted out one way or another.
Previous form suggests CBS is being a pain in the arse; however (and please don't hurl grenades, etc across the Atlantic) there is always that possibility that TG is being, erm... "demanding".
While I don't think he comes across as a diva (oooh God, I am so setting myself up for a cyberslapping here!) we obviously don't know what's been said during these negotiations.
Please don't yell at me anyone, I'm just trying to see the other side - although in no way am I sticking up for CBS after the AJ & Paget fiasco AND that bloody awful spin-off.

@ Eleven (dead or alive?!):
It would be such a shame if we never got the opportunity to see the further development of Hotch's character.
I think he's bottling a lot of stuff up - failed marriage, the Reaper killing Haley, being a single dad, all the horrific cases he deals with at work...
It would be interesting to see him let off steam. I don't mean have a meltdown, even talking to someone about it.
**Sighs wistfully**

@ Gubegirl & Velandra:
More EC cooling in the kitchen at Limey Mansions! My logic is simple - keep other departments of gannets sweet, and then when they have cake I get an invite. My house smells sooooo delicious this evening.

@ Syd:
I asked for a place on the Paris trip - and in French! - so I'll hopefully be on it if a place becomes available. All expenses paid apart from spending money = magnifique!

@ Sergio the Cat:
Haz you been moonlighting? Go to youtube and put in "Cravendale cats with thumbs" - best advert on UK TV at the moment and one of them looks like Sergio!

As far as Criminal Minds is concerned the best episodes were way back in the first seasons plain and simple. Sometimes I think a good thing can be left as a good thing before it is drawn out so long that it is no longer that way. I watch a lot of the older episodes on ION and love it. I never get sick of watching any of the episodes although some of them are a little harder to watch than others. We recently got an HD TV in our home that hangs from the wall and with me working for Dish Network we also took advantage of the free HD for life promo they are offering. The clarity and detail is unbelievable and what really sets me off is the in how clear Derek Morgan looks every night.

Maybe you are getting immune to it, like I have my bread. I make homemade French and Italian bread for my luncheons and gifts for friends and they all wonder how I am not as big as a house by now! I am so used to it, even tho' there's not much that beats the smell of fresh-baked bread, I can walk away because it's gotten old to me.

How long are TG and MGG over there in MC for? Hasn't it been a week already? I want them back here so they can settle this contract thing like YESTERDAY! I think it will end quickly once they are back here.

I am so ready for it to be over...I just want to hear that he is coming back, please Thomas, PUH-LEASE!..Pretty please with sugar, honey, kisses and earthquake cake on top...whatever.

ameyer13: OMG, if Shemar Moore looked any clearer in my home, someone would be kicking down the door to arrest me 'cause I couldn't help myself :)

gubegirl said...

Blimey: The question of the day:
(now Tues in the UK: Did you go to bed hungry??

Baking French bread is SO easy you would not believe it.

1.) Buy a breadmaker (do they even sell them anymore? I think they went out of vogue (maybe have to find them on e-bay??) because no one caught on to the fact that:

2.) You must ONLY use the dough feature. DO NOT bake your bread in it - the texture stinks! You let the dough mix and only go thru the first rise, take it out, let it rest a few and gently shape it for baking. (I use baguette pans. It rises a second time to the desired size and you bake at 380 - 400 X 16-20 minutes.)

You can make 2 lbs of bread at a time (2 baguettes) and people will kick your down when they smell it...Hmm, maybe that would be Morgan?? We could only dream...

Now if you like the sound of that, get yourself a breadmaker and want to use it, I will share my butterhorn rolls and cinnamon rolls recipes with you...

OK, people are we properly distracted? Do you see a pattern here? This no news-anxiety-limbo crap is driving us to insanity. We want to drink (maybe some of us are?) we want to EAT and want everyone else to jump in and eat with us. OMG, Thomas, just, please, sign the damn contract already...

I'm off to yoga so that I can consider making the EC for my son-in-law and the foot high apple pie for hubbie for Fa Day which is now just days away. I will not be able to resist my own homemade desserts.....What are thes rest of you cooking/baking/eating???

Or are Velandra, Pat, Blimey and I the only whack jobs in our kitchens these days??

gubegirl said...

That about the breadmaker is for you Velandra, and that would be "kick your door down." NOT kick your down! and that is "the" not plural in the next to last paragraph.

I need to edit, really I do. I'm sure my posts are sounding like jibberish. Please, don't say, "Yes, they are..."

Have a good eve, all. Hopefully, there are CM re-runs where you live. I will be watching last nite's DVR'd "The Killing" which is about done - so good!

I need Thomas Gibson back on CM! It wont work without him at all! Not in the long run or the short run either. But i am optimistic that he will get a new contract in the nick of time!

I do hope that Rachel Nichols can finish off her Ashley Seaver storyline though. I was never a fan of the character but its not RN's fault. It was the one role she lacked in, great or good enough in everything else but she's no AJ Cook.

Did anyone notice how Rachel no longer follows Aj on twitter anymore? She used to even though Aj never followed Rachel. Aj played it smart but... I do feel bad for Rachel. Rachel was the "replacement" for AJ but then it was a total turnaround. I think that even though the cast and crew liked Rachel, they realized that Seaver was not working for the show and that she would no be rectified without being written off. Oh well, best of luck to Rachel, just glad to have CM family together again and cant wait till TG signs his contract!

I hope that when AJ and paget come back, they both have slightly different, more interesting looks and wardrobes. It would suit them ad it seems like that is gonna happen with JJ anyway. More wavy hair for Prentiss would be nice. I also hope that Ashley Seaver can finish off her storyline cuz I hate loose ends and I gotta say, I do want to see how the cast works with both Rachel Nichols and AJ cook in it as well as Paget. Sorry, but Lauren was not enough to show how it could've been.

Hotch must come back!

I really don't understand CBS not nailing down a contract with Thomas Gibson. Obviously we don't know the points of contention in this contract negotiation, but I'm curious as to why they are reluctant to come to a meeting of the minds. I hope they work it out before Season 7 starts filming. Criminal Minds without Hotch would just not be right...

Has anyone else read the TV Guide interview w/ JM? He says he feels hopeful and confident that it will all work out regarding the TG situation. The fact that he's willing to say that in a interview makes me feel a little better. Then again what do I know.... Maybe he's just practicing the art of positive thinking. Maybe we'll hear something today (fingers crossed).

Teresa H. said...

Velandra,
Yes, I read the interview. It's just so hard to know. One (negative) thought I have is that when they are positive in interviews there are less likely to be follow up questions, it seems to leave people happier. I think that if they say something like they're not hopeful then then the journalists will jump on them about what secrets they may know.
But, again, what do I know? Nothing except that instead of sitting here thinking and writing about this I should be getting out the door and devoting my time to my life and not the life of TV stars. But the obsession has a hold.

CMFAN11 said...

I feel good that JM is confident TG will return since he predicted PB would 2 weeks before news broke that she would.

Hopefully he'll sign in enough time 2 save the first few episodes storylines. And then the writers could write the rest of the season thru the middle during the first few episodes.

Gahh I hope JM is right again.

I am beginning to think that Sergio may get a contract faster than Thomas will these days!I feel like we are all on this non stop roller coaster(or should I say train wreck) of emotions and ups and downs for a whole year with these people.I for one want to get off, as in yesterday.I have had quite enough.
I don't know about all of you, but I prefer to see the drama on the actual show itself, not all this behind the scenes guessing games of who is in or out.I feel like it's a game of Deal Or No Deal.
I am not sure how the system works at CBS, or any other network, but I always thought that Thomas Gibson should have remained the star with top billing after Mandy left. Yet he started to be listed as 'and Thomas Gibson' after Joe got there. Just my opinion, but Thomas was there from day one, all of a sudden Joe is THE first?
Not quite fair, imho, but then again I know diddly squat about networks.
Only that they like to fix what ain't broke, as in the case of the 'season which shall not be named'.
I just know for me personally, I stayed along for the ride until 'JJ' aired. Then I left.I came back for 'Lauren' and again left.It was never the same for me, something was just missing and 'off' about it all. I got excited when I saw the ladies were returning, for about half a day. Then reality came crashing back fast with the fact that our team is not quite complete yet.Without its leader, there really is no team at all,at least for me.Without the team of seven back the way it was before CBS massacred it, I am just going to say buhbye and stick to dvd's.
I shall wait another few weeks for whatever announcement is coming.
If Thomas is back, then so am I.
If not, 'that's all folks' for me as a fan.

There is an explanation for Thomas Gibson started to be listed as 'and Thomas Gibson' after Joe got in the serie, it's simply because, the 1st on the list is the actor who was paid the most, the last on the list is the actor who was paid the 2nd,

So here when Mandy left the serie, it was Thomas who was paid the most, then after Joe arrived, bla bla... ( read the top of this comment!)

I don't know who explain that in another post, bit that's the deal!

I'll be back, some stuff to do!

What storyline "needs" to be finished with Seaver? Look, not to be mean or anything, but I think the show should just move one from as much season 6 fiasco's as it can. If it's not a ruse then I'm glad we're not being played with but it really means that things could go either way.

I found the TV Guide interview with JM. Like already's been said, it didn't give a huge amount away - although I hope he knows more to the good than he's letting on.

@ Gubegirl:
I went to sleep stuffed full of Smoked Applewood (cheese). It's been warm out today so I'm not hungry tonight! Yesterday was cold, and cold makes me hungry.
Oh yes, the joy of a breadmaker. My parents have got one so when I visit I get sent back with various yummies. Hate the shop-bought stuff.
The EC went down well again today at work, I have so many favours owed to me now by so many gannets. Haha! Wonder how many foreign jollies I can now blag my way onto thanks to the simple joy of good cake?!

CHOC CHIPS - Add them to the coconut & pecans at the bottom of the tin. I also made a mini one for my Source - minus pecans due to a (relatively minor) nut allergy. Apparently it still tastes good, although the rest of my Source's department were trying to swap the labels on his and their larger pecan version when he had to leave the room. A warped sense of humour is found on the dominant Limey gene, btw.

@ Velandra:
I love Bertram Thumbcat (his facebook page is marvellous) in the Cravendale ads. CBS need to sign him, along with Sergio - that would be a surprise for Prentiss when she returns home - to find that pair.

Ha! Poor TG - that place is full of nutters! I used to live 20 miles out of "town" (**shudders**) and apart from flying out of Heathrow twice last year, I've not been back to The Smoke for a decade now. Result!
One of the return flights went right over the city because the plane had been told to circle a few times - we noticed the Thames looked dirtier than ever. All the Americans on the plane looked really disappointed and all the Limeys looked thoroughly traumatised to be back!

There's far nicer places to visit - however, I usually say to ignore England and head for Scotland. Much more civilised up there.

p.s. Would love to see Prentiss get home and say "Jog on kitties" (those who haven't seen the ad won't get it) - that would make my week!

NO HOTCH / NO WATCH

NO HOTCH/TG = NO CM FOR ME

Just saying. ;-)

But I guess we have to wait even more until we get relieved from all this misery. TG, according to his latest tweets, is on his way to Paris alongside MGG. These two are certainly touring Europe properly. :D I thought they, or at least TG, would be home in the US by now. In other words: available to sign a contract. Therefore, I guess we won't hear news before next week. Oh, and I have so little patience.

Hey everybody...

Just a speed check on the blog because, today in France is the Criminal Minds prime time, 3 épisodes, one new (coda in french) and two old 413 and 416!

Blimey, just love your "I only stalk this blog on days of the week which end in "y" now. Unless we're talking French, in which case it would mostly be "i" (and Sunday would be my day of rest). Don't want Syd to feel left out!"

Ahhhhh, so TG has seen the light and escaped from this rain-soaked dirty little island? Bet he couldn't get on that plane quick enough!

He needs to get himself back to the US - pronto, or can't he just give in to our whinging and say something like "donnez moi le... erm... contract, s'il vous plait?"

I bet Syd is dying at how I'm killing her language?! I got a really good grade at school despite being awful at it (I resented them cancelling Latin so did as little work as possible). Je suis desole, btw. (still no accents on the e).

@ Syd:
What do the team sound like dubbed into French? Anything like they do in the undubbed versions or completely different?
My parents were in Spain last month and Mum decided to watch CM in Spanish (strange woman!) - apparently Spanish Morgan has a lovely deep voice, whilst Spanish Reid is really squeaky.
I saw CSI dubbed into French a couple of years ago on a Swiss channel - most bizarre!

If I remembered correctly Dimanche (spelling?) is Sunday, so as it doesn't end in i like the others I'd get a rest if I was French. My 3x great grandmother was a Bouvier, so I may claim the right to being even lazier than usual on the Sabbath??

Uuurrgghh... give me some bloody news.

Head. Still. Pecked.

@Blimey Limey

Sooooo I was thinking that why would you want to rely on your mom's opinion about the Spanish dubbing if you can check it by yourself with this Spanish fanatic's help :D

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5aA-TzNwzhk

Just one bit of advice: every language has its own accent, and that can be misleading if you aren't used to hear it. Goob/Reid's voice is very well chosen, specially for the character. The only one that I found not so good it's Mantegna/Rossi, not a true match for the actor nor the character.

@ Maria:

Thanks - I don't know how my mum thought Reid had a squeaky voice from that! Morgan's voice is niiiiiice though, he suits Spanish even if I can only understand the occasional word here and there.
I agree with you about Rossi's voice, it's too harsh and to me sounds like it should belong to one of the criminals. JM is quite softly spoken, so they made a bad choice with that one.

I found this clip in German (inspired by my previous exploits watching Dharma & Greg - for some strange reason I find TG speaking German and being comical incredibly funny):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBQr8gms5Ko

I think Morgan and Reid's voices are the wrong way round (based on how we know them in the original version), although it may work if you're a native speaker - like you said about the Spanish.

However, Reid saying my favourite EVER German word ("stau" - it means traffic jam) at 2.05 made it so worth saving the link! Priceless.

@Blimey : some clues about the french version here.

Love the voices in french, I think that they work well.

(a lot of Hotch here...)

Here is a trailer : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0oO19dCldXg&feature=related

Re-watching the "Valhalla" re-run now. Can't wait for "Lauren" next week, great episode. I hope Emily's return episode is just as good next season.

CBS get our cast back together already! Sign TG already!

This pacing back and forth is really giving me a nice workout--just saying! CM would never be the same without Thomas Gibson. Short, simple, and to the point! Oh, PLEASE let us have good news soon...my shoe soles are wearing thin!

An interview from a belgium radio (at 2:30 from the beginning of the podcast) (and from MC) - Thomas Gibson with an explanation in french... (I forgot to tell you that my birth country is Belgium, i live in France 6 km away from the belgian frontier, and i work in belgium)

Enjoy!

@Blimey : He needs to get himself back to the US - pronto, or can't he just give in to our whinging and say something like "donnez moi le... erm... contract, s'il vous plait?"

In fact he could say : "donnez-moi un contrat, s'il vous plaît"

I bet Syd is dying at how I'm killing her language?!

No, your writing is just good with some spelling errors like me...

I got a really good grade at school despite being awful at it (I resented them cancelling Latin so did as little work as possible). Je suis desole, btw. (still no accents on the e).

Why? Ah I bet your keyboard don't do it, so : "je suis désolée" (if you are a girl!)

@ Syd:
What do the team sound like dubbed into French? Anything like they do in the undubbed versions or completely different?

I would say that dubbed version in french work well, for Hotch it's really great, but sometimes I prefer Hotch in english, as for episode 100 for example!

Look at the links posted before, it's a good exemple for the french voices.

And, of course, sometimes there are some differences between the two version, they didn't say the same things in french as in english...

I saw CSI dubbed into French a couple of years ago on a Swiss channel - most bizarre!

I have some problems with the english version of CSI - LOL

If I remembered correctly Dimanche (spelling?)

spelling is ok

is Sunday, so as it doesn't end in i like the others I'd get a rest if I was French.

it doesn't end with a "di" but beginning with a "di", so no rest for you Sunday (it's a joke!)
