CRIMINAL MINDS BLOG NOTES
Criminal Minds: Lori and I are home safe, sound and very tired. Fantastic time. Thanks to the cast, crew, writers (both present and previous ones)and guest stars we came back with an array of incredible items to auction for the American Cancer Society. Paget Brewster donated her blanket that Matthew Gray Gubler designed the artwork for and there are awesome props and fantastic autographed pictures. We'll decide whether to use ebay again or just auction again from the blog in the coming days. Just a bit of news from the set:
Shemar Moore confirmed that he is not in any way connected to the facebook or twitter accounts using his name and is actively seeking their deletion. I told him that I am constantly asked that question.
A.J's son is absolutely gorgeous! We saw the sweetest pics of him. Also, AJ has agreed to come chat so we'll be setting that up in the near future.
Matthew is supposed to find out on Monday if he will require a third surgery and his attitude about his knee is amazing. He made it quite clear that he can't wait to dance again!
Joe, Thomas, Kirsten and Paget were all fantastic and donated items and sent their thanks and well wishes to everyone!
We had the opportunity to spend some quality time with Deb Fisher, Andrew Wilder and Molly M. which was totally awesome. More on that at a later time as well.
So we are back safe and sound and yes of course I cheated and took pics of Lori in her bathing suit. (You knew I would)!
There is a hugh story behind the picture above of me and the BEATER, Chris Brown, but that can wait until I have had some real sleep.
I look forward to catching up with all of your news and reading all the emails that have been piling up. I am tired tonight but we had a very relaxing vacation. Lots of pool and sun!

CRIMINAL MINDS CINEMATOGRAPHY
Criminal Minds article: More and more small businesses are using video as a key element on their Web sites, and want to know how to do it better.
So we headed to Hollywood where we visited the crew of the CBS television show “Criminal Minds” on location and talked with the director of photography, Greg St. Johns, whose job is to oversee lighting in setting a mood and to “choreograph the move of the cameras.”
We talked to the cinematographer about how the switch from film to high definition cameras has changed the way he works and took a look at the state-of-the-art equipment.
St. Johns also gave us some good tips about how to use lighting and props to make your videos look more professional.

CRIMINAL MINDS: MANDY PATINKIN EXPLAINS?
Criminal Minds: Mandy Patinkin, the former Jason Gideon on Criminal Minds, recently spoke about his reasons for leaving Criminal Minds. Here is an excerpt and the link:
THERE was panic on the set of Criminal Minds when Mandy Patinkin, one of the most revered actors of his generation, decided he'd had enough of working on the show.
The impact of the decision hit his castmates hard because he'd consulted none of them before quitting. They all turned up for work one day 18 months ago to be told Patinkin was no longer their leading man.
A.J. Cook, who plays Jennifer Jareau, has confessed she was distressed by the news.
‘‘I was really sad,'' she explained.
‘‘I loved Mandy, I loved working with him. He was a lot of fun. He would sing and dance. He was just . . . he was our show.
‘‘When we found out he wasn't coming back, there was that panic -- do I need to look for another job? And then there was anger and confusion. If he wasn't going to be happy here, then by all means he needed to do whatever was going to make him happy.''

CRIMINAL MINDS: WHAT HAPPENS IN SEASON FIVE:
Criminal Minds: We closed the fourth season of CRIMINAL MINDS with a fade to black and the sound of a gun going off. They are in the middle of shooting the second episode of CRIMINAL MINDS season five. We have one actor on crutches, one actor banged up and a new actor joining the mix for a six episode gig. So what happens? Any guesses???
CRIMINAL MINDS: INFO ON D.B. SWEENEY
Criminal Minds: I thought it would be a good idea to find out more info on D.B. Sweeney since he will be joining the cast of CRIMINAL MINDS for six episodes. Here is the career section from Wikipedia:
Sweeney went on to guest star on such television series as The Edge of Night and Spenser: For Hire before entering films, where he portrayed an idealistic, gung-ho Vietnam enlistee in Francis Ford Coppola's Gardens of Stone (1987). While he has gone on to many roles (among them a hockey player turned figure skater in The Cutting Edge (1992), Sweeney is perhaps best remembered for his portrayal of the tragic Shoeless Joe Jackson in Eight Men Out (1988), although others will argue that his role as Dish Boggett in Lonesome Dove was his defining role.
Sweeney also starred in Memphis Belle (1990), Blue Desert (1991), Fire in the Sky (1993), and Hardball (2001). In addition to his film roles, he continues to work on television. He played Dish Boggett in the award-winning miniseries Lonesome Dove (1989) and in 1996 starred in the short-lived Fox series Strange Luck in which he played an amnesiac freelance photographer with strange powers that resulted from being the sole survivor of an airplane disaster. He later co-starred in another short-lived series, the science fiction offering Harsh Realm. Sweeney still appears in theatrical productions.
Sweeney guest-starred on House playing an ex-bandmate of Dr. Gregory House's named Crandall. His daughter is brought to Dr. House after suffering from hallucinations about her experiences during Hurricane Katrina on top of other issues. He is also the voice-over artist for Fox Sports Net's Beyond the Glory and guest-starred on Jericho playing John Goetz, a mercenary employee of security company Ravenwood. He also played Michael Whitman in Life As We Know It up until the show's cancellation.
On May 4, 2008, Sweeney flew with the helicopter squadron HMM-364, "The World Famous Purple Foxes", in a CH-46E while in Iraq visiting with service members and promoting his new movie, Two Tickets to Paradise.

CRIMINAL MINDS: THE NEWEST NEWS
Criminal Minds: Well here is the latest Criminal Minds news from of all people Ausiello (major yuk- Ausiello not Sweeney!) I'm looking forward to having D.B. Sweeney on the show. Anyway, here is the news from Ausiello:
Criminal Minds has tapped D.B. Sweeney for a six-episode arc, exec producer Ed Bernero confirms to me exclusively. “He’s playing a U.S. Marshal who’s brought in to help with a big [case] that arcs through the first part of the season,” Bernero reveals. “He’s a contemporary of our team and knows several members of our team really well.”
In other Minds news, Bernero confirms that co-star Shemar Moore broke his leg after being struck by a car while riding his bicycle over the weekend. The injury will have little impact on Moore’s Minds workload, however. “We’re not even going to write it into the show,” says Bernero. “He’s going to be back to work next Monday. It’s right under his knee and he has a walking cast. He’s just really sore right now. “

CRIMINAL MINDS: SHEMAR & MATTHEW
Criminal Minds: Reprinted WITH permission from TV Guide: Criminal Minds star Shemar Moore was hit by a car while riding his bike on August 1, Moore’s rep, Staci Wolfe, confirms to TVGuideMagazine.com. “His leg was broken, but otherwise he’s ok,” she says. According to reports, he was rushed to a local hospital and is now recuperating at home.
Moore, who plays Special Agent Derek Morgan, is currently shooting the fifth season of the crime procedural.
“I know for the show that Joe Mantegna will be filling in for scenes. I don’t think any other decisions have been made because it just happened, they’re just looking at what they need to film for the rest of the episode. They’re just starting their second episode,” said a CBS rep for the show.
The rep also says that Matthew Gray Gubler also recently had surgery, which had to be written into the first episode back. “You won’t see much running from the cast,” the rep joked.

CRIMINAL MINDS: SHEMAR MOORE IN OUR THOUGHTS
Criminal Minds: Shemar Moore, Derek Morgan on Criminal Minds, was in a bike/auto accident over the weekend. I normally would not post something so personal about one of our Criminal Minds actors but his reps have given a statement to TMZ. Here is the statement and link:

Posted Aug 3rd 2009 10:30AM by TMZ Staff
TMZ has confirmed "Criminal Minds" actor Shemar Moore was hit by a car while riding his bicycle in L.A. on Saturday.

CRIMINAL MINDS: ED BERNERO JOINS PROTEST
Criminal Minds: Edward Allen Bernero, Co-Exec. Producer of Criminal Minds, has joined the protest against Emmy changes. We should also be protesting the fact that Criminal Minds hasn't gotten an Emmy!!
More than 100 current TV writers are protesting the TV Academy's changes to its primetime telecast format this year.
Top writers such as John Wells ("Southland"), Ron Moore ("Battlestar Galactica"), Victor Fresco ("Better Off Ted"), Ed Bernero ("Criminal Minds"), Carol Mendelsohn ("CSI"), Clyde Phillips ("Dexter"), Doug Ellin ("Entourage"), Seth MacFarlane ("Family Guy"), Jason Katims ("Friday Night Lights"), Shonda Rhimes ("Grey's Anatomy"), David Shore ("House"), Damon Lindelof & Carlton Cuse ("Lost") and others have signed a statement opposing shifting two TV writing categories out of the live Emmy telecast (writing for a dramatic series and writing for a movie/miniseries).
